Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that a valuable azo dye can be produced if tetrazotized 3-oxy -4,4'-diaminodiphenyl is coupled on the one hand with salicylic acid and on the other hand with 1 - (3'-aminophenyl) - @ 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone,
the aminodisazo dye thus obtained is further diazotized and coupled with 1- (4'-oxy-3'-carboxyphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone.
The new dye is a dark, metallic shimmering powder that dissolves in water with orange-brown, in diluted alkalis with red-brown and in concentrated sulfuric acid with burgundy-red color, and vegetable fibers in red shades of very good lightfastness and washfastness after the single-bath copper plating process colors.
The tetrazotization of 3-oxybenzidine can be carried out in a known manner, for. B. be made in hydrochloric acid solution. The coupling of the tetrazo compound with the two azo components can be carried out in an alkaline, e.g. B. alkali lihydroxyd or carbonate-containing medium are carried out and is expediently carried out in two stages. Here you can advantageously use the tetrazo compound in a 1st stage with salicylic acid and in a 2nd stage.
Combine stage with 1- (3'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. Example: 5.0 parts of 3-oxybenzidine are tetrazotized with sodium nitrite in the usual manner in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The solution of the tetrazo compound is combined at 5 with a solution of 3.46 parts of salicylic acid and 6 parts of sodium hydroxide in 40 parts of water. The mixture is stirred for 1½ hours at 4-6, a solution of 4,
73 parts of 1- (3'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 2 parts of sodium hydroxide in 50 parts of water are added and the mixture is stirred for one hour at 10-12 and 20-25 hours at 15-20. After blunting with hydrochloric acid, the disazo dye is filtered off and dissolved in 400 parts of water with the addition of 1.2 parts of sodium hydroxide.
25 parts by volume of n-sodium nitrite solution are added to the dye solution and the mixture is cooled to 5. Then 60 parts by volume of n-hydrochloric acid are poured in with thorough stirring. The temperature is kept at 10-15 for 15-20 hours and filtered. the diazodisazofa dye. This is entered as a moist paste in a solution of 5.85 parts of 1- (4'-oxy-3'-carboxyphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 6 parts of sodium hydroxide in 90 parts of water.
The mixture is stirred for 1 hour at 10-12 and the coupling is completed at 18-20. The trisazo dye is deposited and dried.
