1-(4'-Amino-phenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolon, 1-(4'-Acetylamino-phenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolon; 1-(4'-Sulfo-phenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyräzolon, 1-(3'-Sulfamido-phenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolon, 1-(2'-Methyl-4'-sulfo-phenyl)-3-methyl-5- pyrazolon, 1-(6'-Sulfo-2'-naphthyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolon, 1-(2'-Sulfo-phenyl)-3-phenyl-5-pyrazolon, 1-Phenyl-3-methyl-5-amino-pyrazol.
Me dium gebildet wurde.

Process for the preparation of copper-containing azo dyes It has been found that new valuable copper-containing azo dyes are obtained if dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0003
where X is hydrogen, alkoxy or carboxy, Y is alkoxy or carboxy, R is a yellow component with the exception of salicylic acid and its substitution products and R 'is an aryl radical, treated with copper-releasing agents.
As yellow components (R), for example, phenol, o-cresol, m-cresol, p-cresol, acetoacetic acid arylimides, such as acetoacetic anilide, -o-toluidide, -o-anisidide, and also pyrazolones, such as 3-methyl- 5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (2'-chlorophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acids, pyrazolone carboxylic acid esters,
Pyrazoloncarboxamides, 5-amino-pyrazole, a-methyl-indole, barbituric acid, citrazinic acid, 2,4-dioxyquinolines and its N-alkyl derivatives, 1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid, 1- (3'-amino -phenyl) -5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid, 1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, 1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxamide, 1- (3'-aminophenyl) -3 -methyl-5-pyrazolone,
1- (4'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (4'-acetylaminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone; 1- (4'-sulfo-phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (3'-sulfamido-phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (2'-methyl-4'-sulfo -phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (6'-sulfo-2'-naphthyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (2'-sulfo-phenyl) -3-phenyl-5 -pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-aminopyrazole. Possible radicals R 'are, for example:
Benzene, naphthalenesulfonic acid, arylsulfamido or carboxylic acid residues, which can also be substituted by methyl, halogen, methoxy, carboxyl, sulfo, nitro or acyl amino groups, and also dehydrothiotoluidinsulfonic acid residues.
The preparation of the azo dyes to be used according to the invention can, for. B. be done in such a way that the tetrazo compound from 4,4'-di-amino-diphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid or from 4,4'-di-amino-3,3'-dimethoxydiphenyl in any order follow on the one hand with the monoazo dye corresponding to the above formula, on the other hand with the yellow component is combined. An addition of pyridine as a coupling accelerator is not necessary in most cases, which means a significant technical advantage.
It is advantageous to choose the components so that the finished dyes contain at least three solubilizing groups, such as sulfonic acid and carboxyl groups. In individual cases the presence of two sulfonic acid groups can be sufficient for the solubility of the dye.
Treatment with copper-releasing agents can be carried out with cupric and cupro salts in a weakly acidic or neutral, but predominantly alkaline medium. It is expedient to heat to 80-110 in ammoniacal solution or in the presence of excess amines or pyridine, in the case of using dyes from 4,4'-diamino-3,
3'-dimethoxy-diphenyl cleavage of the methyl groups takes place and, in addition, triazole formation between the azo group on the radical R 'and the o-position amino group of the naphthalene nucleus is possible. _ By modifying the radical R 'and on the other hand the yellow component R as well as the aminonaphthol disulphonic acid, the properties and the color can be modified to a certain extent.
The new copper-containing dyes obtained in this way show blue, red or greenish gray shades of great color strength and good fastness properties. Compared to the dyes of the main patent and French patent specification No. 1114136, they are characterized by better solubility and better wet fastness properties.
The colorations with the new dyes are generally characterized by good behavior when exposed to artificial lighting and when creasing with condensation products of urea or melamine and formaldehyde and, in many cases, have good etchability.
Example 1 A solution of the monoazo dye neutralized with soda is allowed to flow into the tetrazo solution prepared from 24.4 kg 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxydiphenyl and filtered from about 19 kg of aniline-4-sulfonic acid herge put diazo suspension and about 34 kg of 1-amino-8-naphthol-4,6-disulfonic acid in mineral acid. Medium was formed. Then add enough soda until there is a clearly alkaline reaction.
The diazodisazo dye separates out, is filtered off and washed out with an aqueous sodium chloride solution. The dye paste is stirred up again with ice water and added to an excess, soda-containing solution of 17.5 kg of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. After several hours of stirring, the trisazo dye has formed. It is precipitated by heating and saline screening, filtered and washed with a saline solution.
After drying, a dark powder is obtained which dissolves in water with a navy blue color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue black color.
The conversion into the copper compound can, for example, be carried out as follows: The dye is dissolved in about 3000 liters of water, one made of 50 kg of copper sulfate and about 85 liters of ammonia water of 24%. Add ammonia-made tetramine cuprisulfate solution and heat to about 90-92 for about 20 hours while stirring.
The resulting copper complex compound is precipitated by salting out and neutralizing with hydrochloric acid, filtered and dried. It forms a dark powder that dissolves in water with a reddish gray color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a dark blue color and dyes cotton or artificial silk in reddish gray tones. The colors are lightfast and the tone of the wrinkle-proof finish is hardly changed.
Similar dyes are obtained if, for example, 1- (2'-chlorophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone or 1- (2'-methylphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is used as the end component. With 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, a copper-containing dye is obtained which dyes cotton blue-gray. The solution color in water is a reddish dark blue, in concentrated sulfuric acid a greenish gray.
The dyes prepared analogously, which contain o-, m- or p-cresol as end components, have a blue-gray color; the one with phenol as the final component gray-blue. Similar dyes are obtained if aniline-2- or -3-sulfonic acid is used instead of aniline-4-sulfonic acid.
Example 2 A soda-alkaline solution of the monoazo dye is run into a tetra solution prepared from 24.4 kg of 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxydiphenyl, which is obtained by combining one of approximately 21 kg of 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-4-sulfonic acid produced diazo suspension and about 34 kg of 1-amino-8-naphthol-4,6-disulfonic acid was formed in a weakly mineral acid medium. The addition of soda makes it clearly alkaline.
The diazodisazo compound is filtered off and combined with 18 kg of acetoacetanilide in the presence of excess soda. When the dye has formed, the mixture is warmed and the dye is deposited by adding salt and neutralizing with hydrochloric acid. After filtering and drying it forms a dark powder that dissolves in water with dark green, in concentrated sulfuric acid with a greenish-black color.
If the dye, as given in Example 1, is converted into the complex copper compound, a dark dye powder is obtained which dissolves in water with a blue-gray color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a black-blue color and dyes cotton in lightfast blue-gray tones.
A similar dye is obtained when phenol is used as the end component. If 1-amino-8-naphthol-3,6-disulphonic acid is used instead of 1-amino-8-naphthol-4,6-disulphonic acid, dyes are obtained which have a reddish-tinged gray color.
Instead of 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-4-sulfonic acid, other aminobenzenesulfonic acids, such as. B.
2- or 3-amino-benzene-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-5-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-4-methyl-benzene-2-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-4-methyl-benzene-3 sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2,4-dimethyl-benzene-6-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2-methoxy-benzene-4-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2-methoxy-benzene-5-sulfonic acid, 1-amino -4-methoxy-benzene-3-sulfonic acid, as well as those aminobenzenesulfonic acids which contain halogen, especially chlorine,
contain a nitro or acylamino group alone or in addition to methyl or methoxy groups.
Aminosulfonic acids of the naphthalene series, the diazo compounds of which are suitable here, may be mentioned, for example: 1-naphthylamine-2-, -4-, -5-, -6-, -7- or -8-monosulfonic acid, 2-naphthylamine-1-, -5-, -6-, -7- or -8-monosulfonic acid, also 2-naphthylamine-4, 8-disulfonic acid, 2-naphthylamine-3,6- or -6,8-disulfonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-3 , 6- or
-3,8-disulfonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-4,8-disulfonic acid. There are also 2-, 3- or 4-amino-benzoic acid, 2-amino-benzoic acid-4- or -5-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-benzene-3-sulfamide, 1-amino-2-methoxy-benzene-5 sulfamide or methylamide, 1-amino-4-methoxy-benzene-2-sulfamide, 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-5-sulfamide, or 1-naphthylamine-5-sulfamide or
sulfo-methyl amide is suitable instead of 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-4-sulfonic acid. Example 3 If in Example 1, instead of 17.5 kg of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 22 kg of 1- (3'-aminophenyl) -pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid are used According to him, one holds a trisazo dye which dissolves in water with a greenish blue color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a greenish gray color.
The copper compound produced according to the information in Example 1, paragraph 2, forms after separating and drying a dark powder that dissolves in water with dark blue and concentrated sulfuric acid with a greenish dark blue color and dyes cotton or rayon in blue-gray tones. The color shade is hardly changed in artificial light and also in the case of crease-proof finishing with formaldehyde condensation products based on urea or melamine. The colorations are lightfast.
A dye with very similar properties is obtained if the 1-amino-benzene-4-sulfonic acid in the above example is replaced by 1-amino-benzene-3-sulfonic acid. The solution color of the copper compound in water and in concentrated sulfuric acid is greenish dark blue.
If, on the other hand, the 1- (3'-aminophenyl) - pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid is replaced by the equivalent amounts of 1-phenyl-pyrazolone-3-carboxamide or 1- (3'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl- 5-pyrazolone, this gives copper-containing trisazo dyes which dye cotton or rayon in slightly more reddish gray tones. Here, too, the color tone is practically not changed with artificial light or with the anti-crease finish.
The solution color in water is reddish, dark blue or dark blue. The solution color in concentrated sulfuric acid is dark blue or gray with a green tinge.
Example 4 About 25 kg of 1-amino-naphthalene-5-sulfonic acid are dissolved neutrally with the necessary amount of sodium carbonate, and 7.8 kg of sodium nitrite are added. The mixture is allowed to run in ice and hydrochloric acid at 10 a. The diazo suspension is then combined with about 34 kg of 1-amino-8-oxy-naphthalene-4,6-disulfonic acid in a clearly Congo acidic reaction.
The soda-alkaline solution of the monoazo dye is further combined in the manner described in Example 1 with the tetrazo solution prepared from 24.4 kg of 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxy-diphenyl to give the diazodisazo dye. The suspension obtained in this way is allowed to run into a solution of 23.5 kg of 1-phenyl-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester to which excess sodium carbonate has been added.
The trisazo dye is deposited by heating and salting out, filtered and washed with a saline solution.
After conversion into the copper compound, a dark powder is obtained which dissolves in water with dark blue and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a reddish-gray color and dyes cotton in lightfast, blue-gray tones. The colorations keep their tone well in artificial light and with the anti-crease finish. .
If, instead of ethyl 1-phenyl-pyrazolone-3-carboxylate, the equivalent amount of 1- (4'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is used as the end component, a copper-containing tris azo dye, cotton, is obtained colors in more greenish gray tones, while the corresponding copper-containing trisazo dye, which contains 1-phenyl-pyrazolone-3-carboxamide as the final component, colors in somewhat more reddish gray tones.
In both cases, the color tone of the coloring is hardly changed by artificial light. The solution color in concentrated sulfuric acid is a reddish gray. The following table shows the colors on cotton that can be achieved with the copper compounds of some of the other dyes in this range.
