Instant-jump calendar watch
Many devices have already been proposed to allow the date crown of calendar watches to go instantly from one date to the next.
In these devices, the drive member is brought into the winding position by rotation of a driving wheel engaged with a watch wheel member.
When the drive member can be brought into the winding position by rotating the drive wheel both forward and backward without the indicator being driven, date corrections can be made by actuating the driving wheel alternately in one direction and the other. Since the cog member with which the driving wheel is engaged is in most cases actuated by the time-setting mechanism of the watch, these date corrections are made in a simple manner by actuating the clock. winding crown in the time-setting position, alternately forward and backward.
Although the time can be set by moving the hands either forward or backward without distorting the date indication, the known devices are complicated, delicate and take a lot of time. square.
In some of them, the drive member is supported by the drive wheel. It is urged on the one hand by the teeth of the indicator member, on the other hand by the drive wheel which has an elongated opening in which is engaged a tenon of said drive member and, finally, by a lever subjected to the action of a spring and acting on a roller carried by the lower end of said tenon, under said wheel.
This member can take different positions depending on the orientation of said drive wheel and the direction in which it turns.
In other known devices, a lever pivoted above the driving wheel carries several pawls, one of which can mesh with the date indicator member to drive the latter by one step on each revolution of the driving wheel. ,
In some devices, a cam is used which is coaxial with the driving wheel and is coupled to the latter by a clearance coupling.
However, devices using a cam do not always make it possible to easily correct the position of the date crown by actuating the driving wheel alternately in one direction and the other. Certain watches provided with a cam drive device are therefore equipped with a second crown drive member actuated by a pusher and intended solely to enable corrections to be made. Finally, in some watches using a cam drive device for date corrections, it is necessary to make the drive wheel complete one revolution for each correction from one day to the next.
Certain devices have also been proposed which are different from those which have just been mentioned. which allow date corrections to be made by a reciprocating movement of the driving wheel, the height of which is less than that of the previous devices and in which the driving member is pressed against a freely pivoted cam coaxially with the wheel driving and coupled to the latter by a play coupling, said cam having a contour of which a part has the shape of a spiral and occupies a portion of this contour greater than half, the rest of this contour forming a ramp which connects the two ends of said spiral portion according to a convex curve.
Finally, there is known a date watch with instantaneous jump in which a drive member of the date crown is brought into a winding position by the rotation of a driving zone engaged with a member of the watch wheel and s 'presses against the periphery of a freely pivoted cam, axially co-to the driving wheel and coupled to the latter by a play coupling by means of a pin fixed to the cam, entering an oblong recess of the driving wheel.
This construction allows the time to be set back shortly after midnight, but the cam can be immediately pulled back and with it the drive member, which has the effect of causing a new jump of the date crown. shortly after setting the time.
The object of the present invention is to ensure, by means different from those previously mentioned, the instantaneous jump of the date crown from one day to the next, by allowing, when the watch advances, the backing of the hands by a certain angle, below midnight, without causing a new jump of the date crown when the hands re-cross, in their normal direction of advance. The indication of midnight, while allowing the date of the date to be reset by successive alternating movements of the hands at an angle greater than the previous one.
It therefore relates to an instantaneous jump date watch in which a drive member of the date crown is brought into a winding position by the rotation of a driving wheel engaged with a member of the gear train of said gear. shows and rests against the periphery of a freely pivoted cam, coaxially with said driving wheel and coupled to the latter by a play coupling, characterized in that said cam has a solid part terminated by a deformable flexible arm whose profile constitutes an extension of that of this solid part and by the fact that said coupling with play is obtained by the action of a member carried by the end of this arm and moving in an oblong recess made at least slightly radially, in said drive wheel,
the whole arranged so that this cam being driven by the driving wheel in the direction opposite to that corresponding to the advance of the needles, said arm approaches the center of this wheel and provides support for the driving member of the crown a travel profile of which the distance to the center of the wheel is smaller than when this cam is driven in the direction corresponding to that of the needles advancement, with the aim of preventing the end of the crown drive member to take charge of the next tooth of this crown when the hands are operated at an angle less than a threshold value and cross the midnight indication backwards, while allowing the date to be reset the date by successive alternating movements of the hands, around the midnight indication,
by an angle greater than this threshold value.
The present invention will be better understood by reference to the single accompanying drawing which represents. by way of example, a particular embodiment thereof.
In the drawing, 1 designates the date crown and 2 denotes the drive teeth of this crown, each of these teeth corresponding to a day of the month.
A jumper not shown in the drawing ensures the stability of this crown.
At the time of the jump, the crown 1 is moved by the action of the end, articulated 31 of a drive member 3 on one of the sides 21 of a tooth 2 of the crown. This end 31 is pivoted on the body of the member 3 and subjected to the action of the return spring 32 fixed to the body of said member 3. This member is provided with a boss 33 which is supported, under the influence of the wire spring 12, permanently against the periphery of the freely rotated cam 4, coaxially with the driving wheel 5.
A recess 6 is made in this drive wheel 5. This recess in which the tenon 7 can move, which provides the coupling with play between the cam 4 and this wheel 5, has a curved shape directed slightly radially relative to the center of this wheel. 5.
The cam 4 comprises a solid part 41 terminated, circumferentially, by a deformable flexible arm 8, the profile of which constitutes a natural extension of that of said solid part.
It is the end of this arm which carries the tenon 7.
The operation of the date will now be described.
The cam 4 driven by the driving wheel 5 appears, at the time of the jump, as indicated in dotted lines in the drawing.
The boss 33, under the action of the spring 12 suddenly passes from its position shown in dotted lines to that shown in solid lines and the end 31 of the crown drive member also passes from its position shown in dotted lines to that shown in solid lines, advancing the date crown by one notch, which is stabilized by the jumper not shown.
If the hands normally continue their advance movement, the cam continues to rotate in the direction of arrow 9 and the operation which has just been described is repeated twenty-four hours later.
If, on the contrary, the hands having passed in their normal direction of advance the indication of midnight and the date crown indicating the following day, one wishes to delay the watch beyond midnight without risking, when the hands cross again in their direction. normal advancement of the midnight indication, to advance the date again by one unit, it will suffice to maneuver these hands in the opposite direction to their normal operation as long as this maneuver does not cause the angular displacement of the hands exceeding a determined threshold value.
The wheel 5 is also driven in the direction of the arrow 10 and the end 81 of the arm 8 is blocked, at the start of the rotation of the wheel 5 by the side 331 of the boss 33, until the moment when the wheel 5 having sufficiently advanced, the tenon 7 reaches the bottom 61 of the recess 6,
At this moment, and thanks to the slightly radial positioning of this recess, the arm 8 is arched and brought closer to the center of the wheel S so that the boss 33 can then go up on the end 81 of the arm 8 and then go through the beginning of the outer surface of this arm by resting on it and remaining at a distance from the center of the wheel 5 always significantly less than that which it occupies in the position shown in dotted lines.
Thus, the member 3 is moved in the direction of arrow 11 by an angle which is not sufficient to cause the tip of the next tooth to pass at its end 31 so that there is no need to - fear that this end takes over this next tooth.
Of course, this is only valid if the angular displacement, backwards of the needles, does not exceed a threshold value beyond which the flexible arm 8 of the cam is declining, the end 31 of the drive member supports the next tooth.
This last characteristic of the device is taken advantage of to reset the date to the date by alternating successive movements of the hands around the midnight indication, by an angle (before midnight) greater than this threshold value.
Of course, this threshold value determines the time limit by which the watch can be delayed, without the hands, passing through the midnight indication again, running the risk of causing an unwanted additional jump in the date.
This duration can be of the order of an hour or an hour and a half. Conversely, it is by a quantity greater than this that it is necessary to make the hands oscillate (before midnight) in order to reset the date quickly to the date by successive jumps thereof.
It will also be noted that the only movement in the counterclockwise direction does not, according to this device, cause the date to jump but that it is the bump presented by the end 81 of the arm 8 which causes the passage of the end 31 of the actuator from one tooth to the next tooth, so that as long as the boss 33 has not reached this boss (the needles advancing in their normal direction), it is still possible for example at about 23 1 / 2 hours of delaying the watch without causing the date to jump.
