<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for driving an indicator member for dates with instantaneous advance in a calendar watch The object of the present invention is a device for driving an indicator member for dates with instantaneous advance in a calendar watch, comprising a only drive member of the date indicator member, capable of being brought into a winding position by rotation of a driving wheel engaged with a member of the gear train of said watch, regardless of the direction of rotation of this wheel and without said indicator member being driven.
When the drive member can be brought into the winding position by rotating the drive wheel forwards as well as backwards, without the indicator member being driven, date corrections can be made by activating the driving wheel alternately in one direction and the other. As the part of the cog with which the driving wheel is engaged is, in most cases, actuated by the time-setting mechanism of the watch, these date corrections are made in a very simple way, by operating the winding crown, in the time-setting position, alternately forward and backward.
However, you can still set the watch on time by moving the hands either forward or backward, without distorting the date indication.
However, known devices of the type mentioned are complicated, delicate and take up a lot of space. Thus, in some of them, the drive member is supported by the drive wheel. It is biased, on the one hand, by the teeth of the indicator member, on the other hand, by the drive wheel which has an elongated opening in which a tenon of said drive member is engaged, and thirdly, finally, by a lever subjected to the action of a spring and acting on a roller carried by the lower end of said tenon, under said wheel.
This member can take different positions depending on the orientation of said drive wheel and the direction in which it turns.
In other known devices of the type mentioned, a lever, pivoted above the driving wheel, carries several pawls, one of which can mesh with the date indicator member to drive it by one step on each turn of the clock. the driving wheel.
Certain calendar watches include other devices for driving the date indicator member with instantaneous advance which are much simpler. In some cases, these other devices include a cam coaxial with the driving wheel and coupled to the latter by a play coupling. However, the cam devices already known do not have all the possibilities of devices of the type mentioned above.
In particular, they do not make it possible to easily correct the position of the date ring by actuating the drive wheel alternately in one direction and the other. Certain watches provided with a cam drive device are equipped with a second device for driving the date ring actuated by a pusher and intended solely to enable corrections to be made. In other watches the cam drive device is also used for date corrections,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
however, it is necessary to make the driving wheel complete a revolution for each date correction.
The aim of the present invention is to create a device of the type mentioned above, which therefore makes it possible to perform date corrections by a reciprocating movement of the driving wheel, which comprises a minimum number of parts and whose overall height is lower than that of known devices.
For this, in the device according to the invention, said drive member is pressed against a freely pivoted cam, coaxial with said drive wheel and coupled to the latter by a play coupling and said cam has a contour of which a part has the spiral and occupies a portion of this contour, greater than half and the remainder of which forms a ramp connecting the two ends of said spiral portion according to a convex curve.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a partial plan view from above of a watch movement provided with said device, certain parts being removed, and FIG. 2 a partial section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The watch movement shown in the drawing is of the Roskopf type. In the center of a plate 1 is screwed a journal 2 on which is pivoted a carriageway 3 whose teeth are housed in a recess 4 made in the upper face of the plate 1. This carriageway 3 is driven by a timing wheel (not shown), the pinion of which drives an hour wheel 5 coaxial with the roadway 3. This wheel 5 is driven on a barrel 6, having an external toothing. A usual winding and time-setting mechanism (not shown) makes it possible to drive carriageway 3 and wheel 5 at will.
A date ring 7 having internal toothed teeth 8 is mounted on the plate 1. It is held in place and guided by a retaining plate 9 having, on the one hand, cutouts 10 intended to spare on the plate 1 the space necessary for the various members of the described driving device, on the other hand, pillars 11 maintaining a given spacing between this plate and the plate 1, and, finally, a circular rim 12 whose diameter corresponds to the diameter inside the toothing 8 and around which the ring 7 is pivoted.
The date ring 7 is driven by one step each day in the direction of arrow a, by a drive member (13, 14, 15) cut from a thin plate and having the shape of a V. This member is held between the plate 9 and the plate 1 by one of the pillars 11 which, passing through an opening made at the point of this V, ensures its pivoting. It comprises a rectilinear branch 13, the end of which bears obliquely against the teeth 8 and a second branch 14, also rectilinear, but ending in a beak 15 bent with respect to the branch 14 and approximately tangential to the teeth 8. The end of the nose 15 also presses against the teeth 8.
The branch 14 of the member (13, 14, 15) also has a projection 16 located in the vicinity of the spout 15 and the role of which will be explained below.
The teeth of the barrel 6 are engaged with a driving wheel 17, of double diameter, pivoted on a bearing screw 18 fixed in the plate 1. This bearing screw 18 also serves as a pivot for a cam 19 housed under the wheel 17, but capable of freely rotating around the lower part of the seat of the screw 18. The contour of the cam 19 has a spiral part 20 whose two ends are connected by a convex ramp 21. While the part 20, spiral , occupies a portion of the periphery of the cam 19 approximately equal to 320 degrees, the ramp 21 occupies the remainder.
The cam 19 also has a tenon 22 stamped with this cam and projecting in its upper face. For its part, the wheel 17 has an opening in the shape of a circular arc 23, in which the tenon 22 is freely engaged and the length of which is such that the tenon 22 by moving from one end of this opening to the other rotates. the cam 19 at an angle at least equal to that delimited by the two ends of the convex ramp 21. The tenon 22. and the opening 23 constitute between the cam 19 and the wheel 17 a clearance coupling leaving the cam 19 free to pivot only by a certain angle and under certain conditions.
As seen in fig. 1, the wheel 17 and the cam 19 are arranged such that the projection 16 constantly presses against the cam 19.
Normally, the wheel 17 is driven in the direction of arrow b by the teeth of the barrel 6. The tenon 22 abuts against the rear end of the opening 23, so that the cam 19 is rotated by the wheel 17 in the same direction as it and that the spiral part 20 passes gradually under the projection 16 which presses against it and brakes it. During this movement, the branch 14 of the member (13, 14, 15), elastically deformed, is moved in the direction of the branch 13, the end of which presses against the teeth 8 and keeps the ring 7 stationary. The nose 15 slides on said teeth and engages behind one of the teeth 8.
When the cam 19 reaches the position shown in phantom in FIG. 1 and in which the device is armed, the ramp 21 begins to engage under the projection 16. The tangential resultant of the force exerted by the member (13, 14, 15) stretched elastically on the cam 19, then changes from meaning. The tenon 22 is no longer pressed against the rear end of the opening 23, but pushed forward. The cam 19 then pivots freely while the tenon 22 traverses the entire length of the opening 23. The member (13, 14, 15) relaxes and the projection 16 comes to bear against the inner end.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of ramp 21.
During this movement, the beak 15, advancing in the direction of the arrow a drives the ring 7 suddenly one step forward, to reach the position shown in solid lines in FIG. 1. After the jump of the ring 7, the wheel 17 continues to be driven in the same direction by the barrel 6. The cam 19 remains stationary until the tenon 22 again abuts against the rear end of the 'opening 23, after which it starts again to be driven and to arm the device.
As the wheel 17 has a diameter double that of the teeth of the barrel 6, it makes one revolution in 24 hours, so that the driving of the date ring 7 takes place once every day.
When it is desired to correct the indications of this ring, the wheel 17 can be driven in the usual direction as many revolutions as the correction to be made comprises days. But it can also be brought into a position close to that which is shown in solid lines in FIG. 1. It is then sufficient to drive it back until the cam 19 and the member (13, 14, 15) are in the position shown in phantom, then to bring it forward until that the opening 23 has, relative to this cam and to this member, the position shown in solid lines. At this moment, the device is armed and, as soon as the projection 16 comes into contact with the convex ramp 21, the jump of the member 7 occurs.
The position of ring 7 can therefore be corrected step by step by a simple reciprocating movement of the winding crown of the movement described. Finally, the barrel 6 and therefore the wheel 17 can be rotated in one direction or the other at will without the risk of being blocked in any position. We can therefore operate the roadway 3 and the hour wheel 5 at will in one direction or the other.
The device described only comprises the cam 19, the member (13, 14, 15) and the wheel 17. In height, only the wheel 17 extends at a level different from that of the indicator member 7. It is embedded in the thickness of the retaining plate 9, so that the entire device does not take up more space in height than a progressive advance drive device.
