      Verfuhren    zur Herstellung eines neuen Kondensationsproduktes der     Benzanthronreihe.       Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu neuen  Kondensationsprodukten der     Benzanthron-          reihe        gelangt,    wenn man     Benzanthrone    mit  aromatischen     Oxyverbindungen    oder deren       Substitutionsprodukten    in Gegenwart von       Atzalkalien    auf höherer     Temperatur    erhitzt.

    Um     Farbstoffbildung    möglichst auszu  schliessen, wird der Zusatz von     Ätzalkali     zweckmässig so bemessen, dass die zur     Phe-          nolatbildung    erforderliche Menge nicht we  sentlich     iibprsehritten    wird.  



  Vorliegendes Patent bezieht sich auf ein  Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Kon  densationsprodukte:, das dadurch gekenn  zeichnet ist.     dass    man     Benzauthron    mit       a-Naphtol    in Gegenwart von     Ätzalkalien     auf     höhere    Temperaturen erhitzt.  



  Die neue Verbindung bildet, aus     Nitro-          benzol        umkristallisiert,    kleine gelbe Prismen,  die über 300   schmelzen, sie löst sich in  Schwefelsäure mit roter Farbe. Der neue    Körper soll als Zwischenprodukt zur Her  stellung von Farbstoffen dienen.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  200 kg     a-Naphthol    und 8<B>1</B>0 kg     Ätzkali     werden auf 200' erhitzt und hierauf in die  Schmelze unter Rühren 20 kg     Benzanthron     eingetragen. Die neue Verbindung  kann durch     Auskochen    mit Eisessig von un  verändertem     Benzanthron    befreit werden.
