  Verfahren zur Herstellung     eines    neuen     Kondensationsproduktes     der     Benzanthronreihe.       Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu neuen       Kondensationsprodukten    der     Benzanthronreihe     gelangt, wenn man     Benzanthrone    mit aro  matischen     Oxyverbindungen    oder deren     Sub-          stitutionsprodukten    in Gegenwart von     Ätz-          alkalien    auf höhere Temperatur erhitzt.

   Um       Farbstoffbildung    möglichst auszuschliessen,  wird der Zusatz von     Ätzalkali    zweckmässig  so bemessen, dass die zur     Phenolatbildung     erforderliche Menge nicht wesentlich über  sehritten wird.  



  Vorliegendes Patent bezieht sieh auf ein  Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Kon  densationsproduktes, das dadurch gekenn  zeichnet ist, dass man     Benzanthron    mit       P-Naphtol    in Gegenwart von     Ätzalkalien    auf  höhere Temperaturen erhitzt.  



  Die neue Verbindung wird durch Um  kristallisieren aus Nitrobenzol in Form glän  zender Blättchen erhalten, die sich in Schwefel  säure mit roter Farbe ohne Fluoreszenz lösen.  Die Verbindung färbt sich bei 260  rot und  schmilzt über 300 , sie löst sich in alkoholi-    scher Lauge mit roter Farbe. Der neue  Körper soll als Zwischenprodukt zur Her  stellung von Farbstoffen Verwendung finden.  <I>Beispiel:</I>  In eine auf 140  erhitzte Schmelze von  20 kg     ss-Naphtol    und 7,8 kg     Ätzkali    werden  20 kg     Benzanthron    eingetragen. Man erhitzt  hierauf auf 200  und rührt mehrere Stunden  bei dieser Temperatur. Die heisse Schmelze  wird dann in Wasser gegossen und das ab  geschiedene Reaktionsprodukt abgesaugt.

   Die  neue Verbindung kann durch Auskochen mit  Eisessig von unverändertem     Benzanthron    be  freit werden.

   In order to rule out dye formation as far as possible, the addition of caustic alkali is expediently measured in such a way that the amount required for phenolate formation is not significantly exceeded.



  The present patent relates to a process for the production of a new condensation product which is characterized in that benzanthrone is heated to higher temperatures with P-naphtol in the presence of caustic alkalis.



  The new compound is obtained by recrystallizing from nitrobenzene in the form of shiny platelets that dissolve in sulfuric acid with a red color without fluorescence. The compound turns red at 260 and melts above 300, it dissolves in alcoholic lye with a red color. The new body should be used as an intermediate product for the manufacture of dyes. <I> Example: </I> 20 kg of benzanthrone are added to a melt heated to 140 of 20 kg of ss-naphtol and 7.8 kg of caustic potash. The mixture is then heated to 200 and stirred for several hours at this temperature. The hot melt is then poured into water and the separated reaction product is filtered off with suction.

   The new compound can be freed from unchanged benzanthrone by boiling it with glacial acetic acid.

PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Kondensationsproduktes der Benzanthronreihe, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Benzan- thron mit fl-Naphtol in Gegenwart von Ätz- alkalien auf höhere Temperatur erhitzt. Die neue Verbindung wird durch 'Um- kristallisieren aus Nitrobenzol in Form glän zender Blättchen erhalten, die sich in Schwefel säure mit roter Farbe ohne Fluoreszenz lösen. Die Verbindung färbt sich bei 260 rot und schmilzt über 300 , sie löst sich in alkoholi scher Lauge mit roter Farbe.
