Cinematographic projector. The object of the invention is a cinematographic projector with intermittent film drive and two debtors.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevation of the apparatus in the operating position, seen from the right; Fig. 2 is a left side elevation of the apparatus partially in section, with some parts removed and the apparatus in the loading position, FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 are views of an optical system of the apparatus; Fig. 6 shows, in vertical section and in plan, a detail; Fig. 7 shows, in plan, the rear part of the apparatus seen from above.
Fig. 8 shows, in section, a lighting device adapted to the projector; Fig. 9 shows a member for fixing the film to the reel; Fig. 10 shows, in section, a device for fixing a coil on its axis; Fig. 11 shows, in section and in elevation, a variant of the coil.
The mechanism of the projector comprises a main shaft 1 arranged in the box 23 of the apparatus and driven by a motor contained in the base 2 of the projector, by means of the pulleys 3 and 4 and of the belt 5. This shaft carries at the front a knurled button 6 which is used, if necessary, to start the device. In addition, said shaft is extended at the rear in the lantern 7. This rear extension 8 is provided with a removable crank 9 which is engaged through a hole drilled in the rear @ of the lantern 7. This crank allows the operation of the device image by image. Inside the box 23, the main shaft 1 carries a worm 10 to 45.
This screw drives helical wheels 11 and 12 mounted on the axes of the debtors 13, 13.
A helical pinion 14 to 45 meshes with the wheel 11 and is mounted on the axis of the turntable 15 of the intermittent drive mechanism. -On this same axis is mounted a flywheel 16. The intermittent drive mechanism comprises a housing 17, in which moves an oscillating lever 18 driving the sliding claw holder 19. The movement of the latter is limited by a screw of stop 20 fixed to the fixed passage 21, itself subject to a support 22 from the foundry with the box 2-3.
24 and 25 are the two pressers of the biters actuated for their opening and closing by the levers 26 and 27 and the springs 28 and 29 placed inside the mechanism box.
30 is a fan body of the usual form, snail, interposed between the box 23 and the lantern 7. In this fan body rotates the finned disc 31 for mant at the same time shutter. The air is sucked in the center in the box 23 by not shown or vertures, provided on either side of the boss 32, through which the main shaft passes. A sloped lower partition 33 forces the air expelled radially by the fins to enter the lantern, from which it escapes from above through openings 34, 34.
In fig. 2, the dotted arrows indicate the movement of air.
-On the rear wall of the fan body, outside the lantern, is mounted a brake which consists of a hollow screw 35 containing a spring and a non-repre sented slider, acting on the shutter disc. This brake is used to adjust the speed of the motor.
On the front wall of the box 23 is mounted the film door 36, movable around the hinge 37. FIG. 2 shows the open position of said film door. The film door 36 serves as a support for the cylindrical lens mount 39.
This lens is provided with a rack, not shown, actuated by a pinion mounted on the axis of the knurled knob 40.
An idle roller 41 mounted on the axis of the press 25, and idle rollers 42 and 43 mounted on the box 23 guide the film towards the winding reel. The film door -36 carries at the rear the support of the presser frame, in the form of a U, presenting at each of its two wings bayonet-shaped slots 45, 46 (fig. 6) and bearing in its vertical plane - of symmetry of the rods 47, fixed to its bottom and on which are threaded the resorts 48.
The presser frame 49, U-shaped with short wings, carries on its edges tabs 50, which can freely enter the bayonet slots 45, 46 by their bent ends. This presser frame compresses the springs 48,, 51 and the film window.
This device allows the presser, when the film door is closed, to take its place of its own accord in the corridor and to be subject only to the balanced action of the two springs 48. It also allows very easily assemble and disassemble the presser frame.
A crank 52 is mounted on the axis of the lower debtor 13; this crank optionally allows the projector to be operated by hand. The projector has a mechanism which allows the film loops to be formed to its proper length without trial and error.
This mechanism comprises two parts 53, 54 movable around axes parallel to those of the debtors. Each of these pieces carries at right angles a long finger 55 parallel to the axes of the debtors and exceeding the plane of the front edge of the film, and a short tab 56 not exceeding the plane of the inner edge of the film.
On the axis of each of the pieces 53, 54, to. Inside the mechanism box, a lever 57 is mounted, at the end of which a tension spring 58 is attached.
Each of the pieces 53 and 54 can take two positions, a position for loading such that by passing the film stretched between the debtor and the fixed passage over the fingers 55, this part of the film is given the length that must have the buckle, and a position for walking where these fingers are erased so as not to interfere with operation.
In the position for loading the levers 57 are pressed by the springs 58 against the stops 59. The parts 53, 54 are pushed and held in the position for walking, by the pusher 60 attached to the film door, which acts by the ends 61, 62 of its branches on the short legs 56 of the parts 53, 54.
A closing latch 613 of the door 36 maintains the pusher 60 and the parts 53, 54 in this position for walking.
The optical system of the apparatus comprises a compound capacitor formed of several lenses, not shown, distant from each other; the rear lens placed against the lamp is arranged in a frame fixed to the front wall of the lantern.
The two front lenses are separated from it by the fan shutter disc. They are arranged in a frame which fits, at the front in the support 22 of the fixed passage and at the rear of the fan body 30. This frame is organized so as to make the assembly and disassembly thereof. easy and fast.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 represent three variants of this frame. According to fig. 3, the frame comprises a tube 64, the rear of which is threaded. 65 is a threaded ring which is screwed onto this tube and which has a shoulder. Its rear end is housed in a hole 66 of the fan body. By this means, the frame is both centered and held.
In the. fig. 4, the tube 67 carries a tenon 68. 69 is a ring having a slot 70 and a shoulder. To put the frame in place, it suffices to push this ring into the hole 66 and then to turn it. As a result of these movements, the tenon 68 disengages from the slot 70 and prevents axial displacement of the ring. The device of FIG. 5 is similar to the previous one, an internal groove 71 of the ring replaces the slot 70.
The projector has a special reel model which allows, on the one hand, to fix the film by means of each reel, in a fast and safe way and which allows, on the other hand, to fix the reels themselves. easily to their respective axis without them bearing any mechanism.
The core 72 of each coil (Fig. 10) has a longitudinal groove 73 (Fig. 1) with a narrowed entry. The cheeks 74 of the reel have openings Î 5 which face each other and which unmask the upper part of this groove, into which a cylindrical and elastic plug 76 has forcibly entered. Once entered, it cannot come out of it. even, being held back by the cheeks.
To fix the film to the core of each reel, it suffices to pass the film over this groove and to push the stopper and the interposed part of the film into it. To release the film, the stopper is removed by grasping it with the thumb and forefinger by its ends. Said stopper may be made of any elastic material, for example cork. It can also be formed by a split wooden stick to make it elastic. Finally, it can be constituted by a blade of res out rolled on itself, as shown in fig. 9.
When the coils have a large diameter, the openings 75 are given a sufficient height so that the folded index finger can be passed through them, which, with the thumb, grasps the stopper.
The axis 77 of each reel carries a $ 7 ace on which is fixed a button 79 in the form of a mushroom. One of the cheeks 74 has a buttonhole 80 formed of two parts of different widths, the wider allowing the head of the button to enter it freely and the less wide allowing the foot of the button to enter it by rotation of the spool. and get stuck there.
The button introduced into the buttonhole keeps the spool tight against the plate 78. Each of the two cheeks can have an identical buttonhole, which makes it possible to thread the spool on its axis from any side.
The projector comprises a device making it possible to quickly rewind on the unwinding reel the film carried by the rewinding reel after projection. This device comprises, on the one hand, a rubber ring 81 (FIG. 10) mounted on a pulley 82 at the end of the spool axis. ; On this axis is arranged, between the pulley 82 and the plate, a barrel 84 held by an arm 83 integral with the box 23. The interior of the barrel 84 contains a known means of braking the axis, not shown . The device comprises, on the other hand, a handwheel 85 with a crank driving the ring 81 by friction from its periphery.
The axis 26 of this flywheel is mounted eccentrically on a base 87 which rotates in a boss of the arm.
This arrangement allows the flywheel to be moved away from or closer to the rubber ring, by rotating the base, to adjust the pressure exerted by the flywheel and finally to replace the friction of the axis of the unwinding coil. contained in the barrel 84 the friction of the flywheel on its axis.
The combination of a condenser com posed with the other components: shutter, fixed channel, film door, lens and presser, combination presented by the projector, allows the use of fixed lanterns of types and sizes at the rear. various dimensions and in advance of objectives of various nature and dimensions.
This is how, by changing the lamp and the lantern, we can make a living room projection or a large projection, and we can substitute for the lantern with an incandescent lamp an arc lantern or a lan. dull with oxyaeetylene lighting, provided that these are specially organized.
Fig. 8 shows an oxy-acetylene lantern adaptable to this projector. 85 is the rear lens of the compound condenser, 86 is an elliptical mirror having at its rear focus the glowing patch 87 and having its front focus (where the real image 88 is formed - of the patch) at the location occupied by the filament of the incandescent lamp.
89 is the torch, 90 and 91 are the two inlet pipes for oxygen and acetylene, 92 is a support supporting the torch and the mirror and being fixed in the socket 93 of the lantern. 94 is a rotating frame with two branches 94a (only one of these branches being visible in, FIG. 8) each carrying a pellet. This frame can be actuated externally by a button 95 to allow the patch to be changed.
The projector comprises a device for possible lighting of the exterior of the apparatus comprising, on the one hand, a window 96 (fig. 1 and 7) pierced in the side wall of the lantern, at the height of the light source. , and fitted if necessary with a transparent window, and, on the other hand, a movable hinged closing flap 97, the internal face of which reflects or diffuses.
light which it receives, this device making it possible, when the shutter is opened, to illuminate external objects, in particular the mechanism and the film, during operation or during loading, the window has been fitted the window avoiding the sudden currents of cold air which would occur on the lamp, the mirror and the rear lens of the condenser when the shutter is opened.
The projector described above has two identical reels with cheeks fixed to the core, but the unwinding reel shown in FIG. 11 and comprising a cylindrical box 98 fitted with an opening 99 for the output of the film, the core 100 of this reel being movable in the two cheeks of this box. Said box is fixed to the arm 83 and the core 100 is actuated by the unwinder shaft. The movable core 100 has a narrowed entry groove 101 similar to that which has been described above.
The opening 99 of the box 98 unhides the outer part of this groove and the film is fixed to the core by means of an elastic cylindrical plug 102.
The projector described above, since it employs an intermittent film drive mechanism, which operates by shocks and thanks to the low mass of the moving parts and thanks to the short stroke of the claws, is more particularly suitable for use of narrow films with small image pitches.
However, the projector may have another intermittent film drive mechanism suitable for the use of wide film with large image pitch, for example, the "Light" mechanism or the Maltese cross which operates without shocks.
