Pour qu'il soit possible de donner des largeurs différentesà la fente, titi des volets petit, avant la mise en mouvement de l'obtu rateur, être déplacé par rapportà Uautre- Afin que ce déplacement puisse s'effectuer de l'extérieurde l#appareil, une des deux roues LI seulement est fixée d'une facon définitiveà l'arbre;
Pour permettre l'adaptation d'un' déclati- elleur mécaniquej, un petit pistonk placé à l'intérieur du tubey peut recevoir l'impul sion donnée par le J)erCUtettl' g2 et la com muniquer au levierE (fig. 1 et-8). Pour éviter, lors de la ii-iise en place du percuteur, la rotation du bouton, le tubeg est muni d'une goupille1 glissant:10 dans les fentes ménagées dans le tube h;

Fig. 27 represents the key suitable for this variant.
The apparatus represented is in the form of a trapezoid, the sides of which form a 45 'l angle with the bases and the angles of the large base of which are rounded. It consists of a carcass presenting at its small base the location of the objective located in XI (fi-. 2). Immediately there is a shutter (front shutter) made up of two blades A whose crescent shape is that shown in fig. 1, the aforementioned blades pivoting sui two rods B fixed on the plate P of the apparatus.
On slats TO is located. titi flat lever D articulated in Dl and pierced with two oval openings D 'which have no other only to allow passage to the rods B. The lever D carries a pin C which from its side penetrates into oblique grooves CI made in the the blades A and on the other,
protrudes at the face of the lever D. An opening CI made in the plate P provides passage to l the posterior end of the pin C while the anterior end is attacked by the edge of a lever E articulated in El and actuated directly by the release button X. In the figure the shutter is shown closed. Si .011 then acts on the lever E via the release button X.
said lever presses on pin C, which has the effect of rotating lever D around soli pivot DI. In this movement the wools A are stretched under the action of the pin C which moves in the oblique grooves CI and the shutter opens. By pivoting around D ' the lever D tends the res out F, one end of which is secured to a fixed part FI, while the other end is fixed in F- \ on the lever D. The spring F therefore tightens. to return the shutter to its rest position.
The focal shutter, West i.e. place in the immediate vicinity of the sensitive surface) is made up of two metal shutters Q Q '(fig. 2 and 4), , presenting between them a gap constituting the slit which must move in front of the film to allow printing.
The movement of the assembly of the two shutters is obtained as follows: a shaft 31, (fig. 3) is urged to to turn by the spring to flange Pi (fig. 3), it communicates either rotation movement to two toothed wheels L LI (fig. 3), each of these two wheels command a rack X NI carrying- both (the flaps Q Q '. Only one of these Y is visible on the flo, racks î Figs. 17, 18,
19 represent a constructive modification of the rack X. To cover the cantilever, it has a rib p, guided throughout its length by a groove q dug in the rail o. A blade s placed above the rack prevents it from leaving the door, while allowing it to slide freely.
So that it is possible to give different widths  to  the slit, titi of the flaps small, before the shutter is set in motion, be moved relative to  to  Uother- So that this movement can be carried out from outside  of  the device, only one of the two wheels LI is permanently fixed  to  the shaft ;
the other, on the side, 'it is only driven by the latter because the cocking lever G is pinned to the shaft. is hooked to the wheel by means of a cleat J placed at its end and penetrating into one of the slots made in the disc H which is integral with the wheel. When you want to change the interval between the flaps, all you have to do is release the cleat so that the shaft drives the lower wheel alone and thus moves the corresponding flap. The cleat must therefore be J can move and exit the disc slot. in which it is engaged. A for this purpose, it is fixed to a lever articulated on the shaft fixing pin.
This lever, which can be seen in section in FIG. 3, is hollow, it fits the handle G and is held in its locking position by the small spring K.
The shutter is kept armed, by the spring V playing the role of pawl and engaging in the teeth of a wheel T (fig. 2) whose pinion meshes with wheel L.
To allow the use of a strongly tensioned spring in order to make the inertia effect of the moving parts negligible, while not increasing the speed too much, the shutter is provided with a moderator.
This moderator consists of and) a gear train formed by two movable toothed wheels T U (fig. 2) including. one U acts as a steering wheel. In order to increase the smoothness of the trigger, the latter is effected by the intervention of the spring T '(fig. 2) in engagement with the teeth of hl, wheel T.
When pressing the release button X (fig. 1 and 2) has caused the complete opening of the front shutter A </ B > A, the spring F, by means of the elbow lever Y (fig. '21 and < B> 5) lifts the spring V (fig. 2 and 3) and the focal shutter is released.
By quickly modifying the speed of the focal shutter, the mobile U can be engaged or not with the mobile T, this clutch or dis- clutch being able to be controlled by a small button moving in a groove located on the top of the device.
In addition, in order to correct, when it is turned on, the insufficient speed of the focal shutter, insufficient due to inertia, the movable part of this shutter initially receives a pulse. This impulse is communicated to it by a lion spring shown automatically stretched to the shutter cocking wire.
The main purpose of the camera being to be able to take pictures without the subject's knowledge, this camera is equipped with a side viewfinder.
So that this viewfinder can also serve as a protector for the lens, it was necessary to make it mobile so that once closed it can fit in the small space left to the front of the lens. A For this purpose, this viewfinder consists of a Z stage (fig. 2, 6 < / B> and 7) bearing on one of its faces " a mirror Zi and coming to rest in the indicated position of use in phantom lines, on one of the inclined walls to 45 ' of the body of the apparatus.
For this position of the viewfinder, the concave thread x, fixed to the movable wall TY (fig. 2 and 6) is located in a plane perpendicular to </ B> the axis of the objective; the partialY, (fig. 2 and 7) carrying the connected lens B fortnant #illeton is located parallel to this same axis. This arrangement allows to direct the line of sight perpendicularly to the axis of the objective.
In order to allow the use of the sight as a range finder, the reticle shown on the movable part IV may be replaced by horizontal lines which help to determine the angle of sight. In order to facilitate the simultaneous accommo- dation of the eye for two very different d - distances: on the one hand, the distance from the reticle to the # eye , on the other hand, that of the subject to the camera, the lens of this #illeton is pierced in the center of a circular hole. .
In the passalge from position 1 to position 3, the front part IV meeting support a (fig. 2 and 6) moves closer to the Z-plate and the hooks b force the TF part, to to fold up too, so that in position < B> 3 the viewfinder, completely closed on itself, occupies a volume reduced to a minimum and only presents outside the exterior of the camera.
Attached to the device, on one side by the hinge c (fig. 2 and 6), this viewfinder is fixed on the other side by a bead d (fig. 2) which holds it, by pressure, completely closed and, consequently, in the lens protection position.
When you want to use the camera, the viewfinder automatically comes to its normal position 1 by means of a spring (fig. 6) concentric to the axis of the hinge c, at the same time the two parts Jl- and J171 also take their normal position - under the action of the springs ei e2 arranged in a similar way to spring e.
The bi stops (fig. 2 and 7) prevent the TV part from going beyond the normal position. - In order to allow the adjustment of this triple movement, the support a rests on the spring fig. 2 and 6).
The focusing can be achieved by means of the following device shown in FIGS. 20, 21, 22.
The 1 metal wool represents the slightly modified part of the metal frame that covers the XI slot of the objective.
This blade is pierced by a rec tangular window 9. in which, e moves a rectangular wool 3 carrying in its middle a rod 4. One of the ends of this rod slides in a slot arranged on the upper face of the device, (and not shown 1 # (1r the figure) so to can be moved- -from the outside.
The other end of this rod penetrates into an inclined groove 51 made in a rectangular wool 5. This blade which # serves to support the plate 61 on which, # e screws the lens, slides between the slides 6, 6. The movement of the part 3 in the window 2 moves the wool 5 perpendicular to the movement of this part 3 and, therefore, moves the lens in the same direction.
The trigger button represented in X (fi-. 1, 2, 8 and 9) consists of a tube y carrying to its upper part the disk gi on which the operator's finger will rest and sliding into a second tube h fixed to the bottom of the cylindrical box i.
To allow the adaptation of a  ' mechanical valve  j,  a small piston  k  placed  at  l The inside of the tube  y  can receive the impulse given by the J) erCUtettl ' g2  and communicate it to the lever  E  (fig.  1  and  -8).  To prevent rotation of the button when inserting the striker, the tube  g  is fitted with a  1  sliding pin:  10  in the slots made in tube h;
21, in a slot cut in the piston le. 'A to coil iii spring returns the button i to its rest position.
In order to avoid too great a displacement of the button of release X, this latter can, instead of acting directly on the lever E, attack it via of the v-articulated lever t (fig. 23 and 24).
The pusher g2 directly attacking the lever 1, (fig. 5-) then also allows the c removal of the components k < I> 1.
The counter is placed at the part forming a closure at Behind of the apparatus, its dial indicating the number of views taken does not show any protrusion. no shrinkage on the outer wall of this rear part.
This dial is linked to a wheel à ro- eliet ji (fi-. 10 and 11) whose backtracking is prevented by spring 01.
A lever pi articu16 in qi attacks the ratchet ii by means of the small spring r 1. The lever pi is set in motion by the bar si, to which it is connected by a, screw li; all the sy ,,, tùriie being returned to its rest position by the spring u.
The bar if which moves parallel to the march of the filii), is turminated, in its opposite part you point of attachment of the spring it, by an elastic wool r ( fi-. 11) and 11) carrying at its end a stopper ir. This cleat a crosses the plate ri (fig. 10) in Turkish fouver y </ B> which is large enough to hold the cleat,
after having entered the perforation of the film, to move, in the direction of the course of said film, by a length equal to the interval of two successive perforations . The slanted part z of the stopper meets at at the end of its travel the end of the opening y, drops down and thus ceases to be hooked to the film. The spring u returns the cleat to its initial position and the latter can then penetrate into the next perforation, so that the passage of each of the perforations advances the ratchet of a tooth.
Each division indicated on the outer dial corresponds to the passage of five perforations, s.
A second dial advances one unit to a click of the turn of the central dial, in order to control a greater number of views. This second dial is secured to a star, each branch of which is met by one of the two pins which the wheel to of the central dial must carry.
The perforations in the film are not only used to activate the the counter, but also to quickly and easily attach the film to the two winding spools.
These coils, one of which is shown in .A ' (fig. 2 and 13) consist of simple tubes having for length the total height of the apparatus (this height itself being substantially equal to the width of the film). On these tubes are glued strips of leather B ' (fig. 2 and 12) terminated at the free end by metal clips 0' </ B > themselves carrying two hooks D ' intended to penetrate into the perforations of the film.
So that the manufacture of the A ' coils (fig- 2 and 13) presents the maximum simplicity while ensuring the perfect tightness of the the apparatus, these coils rotate around two tubes E 'and Ei, fixed, one to the upper part, the other to the lower part of the apparatus. One of these tubes E ′ carries slits in part of its length so as to make it elastic and allow sufficient friction to obtain a suitable tension of the film.
The plate on which the tube F # '1 is welded is drilled with a hole of diameter equal to that of said tube, so to allow the introduction of the key which will be described below. - The two holes allowing the introduction of of the key are each located on a different face of the device, the same key having to activate successively both coils. This key (fig. 13, 14 and 15), although movable, must be held in a stable manner, either in one or in the other of the two coils.
For this purpose, it consists of two parts; one F, of square section, is integral with the operating bar G '. It is pierced with a cylindrical hole in which penetrates a rod in hardened brass R '; this one carries at one of its ends (side of the bar) a small button F, and presents at the other end with two hooks J; Plus, it is split three-quarters of its length so that the elasticity of the metal holds these two: hooks apart and protruding when the button is pressed.
When the button l ' is pulled in the direction of the arrow (fig. 15) the two hooks J' are forced to approach and no longer protrude, the The main body of the wrench therefore becomes smooth and it can be withdrawn without difficulty from the protrusion forming a square tube fixed to the inside of the coil A. On the contrary, it is securely held in this tube 'when these hooks are protruding.
In order to allow the appliance to be loaded in broad daylight, the fixed tubes A ' can be replaced by mobile coils such as the one shown in 7 on the fig. 25 and 26 of the plate of the accompanying drawings.
A the old location of the key, each of the two plates of the device is drilled with a hole large enough to insert one of these coils which will rotate around the tubes E 'and E': i (fig. 13), in the manner of the tube A '. But the tube El </ B> is carried by a 8 plate provided with a covering Linear and connected to the plate by a clear bayonet closure or by any other device ensuring a perfect seal.
B ' C' D ' clips (fig. 2) will be attached to each of the voice coils as in the keyed device .
To allow adaptation of the key, the tube making up the main body of the 7 coil will be pressed in its middle part in g, of to way to present a square section. As a result of this new arrangement the key (fig. 13 and 15) may be modified as follows. While retaining the square shape, it will consist of a single piece having the section indicated in fig. 27, the elasticity of the metal allowing the introduction or the extraction of the key by exerting a slight force.
This modification, also based on the use of the perforations of the film for its attachment, in no way destroys the possibilities for the operator to withdraw any length of the film from the apparatus without waiting for the completion of the reel as will be explained. below.
The reduced format of the test obtained requiring a perfect focus, it is essential to keep the rope absolutely flat in the part which must be impressed.
In order to achieve this goal, we can use the following device: When the bottom of the device (fig. 10) is in place, it leaves between the plate xi (fig. 10) and the guides L '(fig. 4) an interval exactly equal to the thickness of the film. The rope is therefore rigidly held by its two sides (region for which no scratch is to to be feared since it is the perforated part, therefore photographically unused). In addition, it is kept properly tensioned by the friction of the coils.
The N ' rollers can be omitted and replaced by an extension of guides L' which are given a suitable curve in order to increase the radius of the curve taken by the rope and thus to avoid persistent deformations .
To make any distortion of the film impossible, it rests over its entire width, by its posterior part in the region to be impressed, on the plate which covers the meter, This perfectly flat and polished plate is blackened in view to avoid the halo.
The plate which covers the meter can be kept at appropriate distance from the guides L 'by means of springs not shown tending to move it away from the bottom.
The bottom of the appliance (fig. 10) is provided at each of its ends with a lock 0 ' (fig. 10 and 16). This lock consists of a small wool pierced with two rectangular holes P, this blade carrying two hooks Q ' and an IV screw serving as a push button. This screw moves in a slotS 'made on the outside face of the bottom of the device so that the lock can be operated from the outside.
This blade slides between the outer wall and a small T ' plate (fig. 10) which serves as a guide and at the same time prevents the return of light. Two pins M passing through the whole, enter the slots P 'and ensure the position of the lock.
The main body of the apparatus carries, to each of its cWs, a small wool 17 'having notches corresponding to A, the shape of the hooks Q' and whose mode of operation is sufficiently clear. fig. 16.
To charge the device, y will have to open its rear part, lowering the screws R 'of the closing bolts (fig. 16) so as to unzip these last.
The operation to carried out in the darkroom will be as follows: hook the end of the film to the D ' clamps (fig. 12) located Ù, the end of the baked strip, placed on that of the two winding spools, the conimande of which is made on the side of the appliance opposite to the ma net of cocking.
Wind the rope by turning the movable key which will have previously been adapted to this reel.
Once the length of film has been wound up completely, hook the free end onto the clamps D ' (fig. 12) of the second reel.
The key will then be removed from the first winding reel to be placed in the one located on the same side as the weapon lever.
This unique key has been made in order to force the operator to always wrap the rope in the correct direction. Put the bottom of the device back in place and act on the screws R 'of the closing bolts so as to block them.
The device is then ready for to operate. To take a picture, press the bead d (fig. 2); the viewfinder automatically assumes its operating position (position 1, fig. 2).
To take snapshots: Arm the shutter by turning the focus G (fig. 2) in the direction shown; at this moment there, depending on the brightness of the subject, adjust the aperture slit of the focal shutter by operating the lever of the G, joystick in accordance with the explanations given above. Press the release button after locating the subject using the viewfinder.
To pose, the camera having been placed on a stand, the shutter disarmed, push the lever to the slot indicating the exposure and act either with your finger or with a propellant on the button of triggering. Under these conditions, the focal shutter remains open and the front shutter runs alone. Turn the key to to advance the film, the length of one frame ,.
The camera is then ready to take a second image.
The main advantages of the apparatus described are as follows: Shooting to 90 0 shots allowing the subject's expression to be captured without attracting his attention. The brightness of the lens combined with a focal shutter, makes it possible to take instant scenes even in low light. Taking a lot of nude shots in a very short period of time.
Reduced price of the negative, given its very small size, which allows, with a Moderate expense, to take several pictures of the same subject in order to have a varied choice of expression or different effects.
The small size of the negatives obtained (24 min X 24 nim) allows the use of a short focus lens and, consequently, the shooting of indoor scenes at very short distances. The square shape has been given to the negatives with the double aim: 10 To always hold the camera in the same direction when of the shot of views; 2,1 To be able, ci) enlarging, to make more easily the layout of the sight taken. The loading of the device in the dark cabinet has been deliberately adopted in order not to oblige the operator to to wait for the complete exhaustion of the rope to develop it.
Indeed, the cut of the impressed part of the film is made very simple as a result. the ease of hooking up the unimpressed part, and the rapid setting of the counter to zero.
