On prévoit.

Fig. 12 est. a sectional elevation of part of the store, corresponding to the. fig. 11. FIG. 13 is a plan view showing one embodiment of the film drive system for a phonophoto-graphic film.
As shown in fig. 1 and 2, the projection apparatus comprises a box 1, provided with a cover 2 mounted on hinges 3.
The cover 2 contains two reflecting mirrors 4 and. 5, mirror 4 being attached in any suitable manner, while mirror 5 is. mounted on a support 6 articulated inside the cover at 7, so as to be able to be housed in the cover when the latter is closed.
Near the free end of the cover 2 are provided two connecting rods 8 articulated at one end to the cover at 9 and, at the other end, to two respective corners of a frame 10 carrying a translucent screen 11. When the cover is. open as shown in fig. 1, which corresponds to the operating position of the projection apparatus, this cover occupies a fixed angular position with respect to the box 1, a position determined by a strut 12 of known shape, tan say that the articulated mirror 5 occupies a Correct angular position with respect to mirror 4 thanks to support contact 6 of mirror 5 with stops 13 of cover 2,
the connecting rods 8 being held by clamps 14 in a horizontal position in which they advance outwardly, so that the frame 10 and the screen 11 are suspended vertically from the ends of these connecting rods. The projection optics of the apparatus is indicated by 15; the light path emanating from this optic is generally designated by line 16 in FIG. 1, and it is easy to see that the reproduced images can be observed from the outer face of the translucent screen 11.
When the device is not in use, the articulated mirror 5 is folded into the cover 2, while the connecting rods 8 are released from the clamps 14 and turned around their pivots 9, to occupy the position indicated in dotted lines at 17, the frame 10 and screen 11 being housed inside the cover. In the cabinet 1 is mounted a platform 18 covering approximately one half of the length of the cabinet at the outer end thereof.
On the underside of the platform 18 is suspended an electric motor 19 constituting the motriee source for winding and driving the film, as well as a projection light source 20.
Above an opening in the platform 1.8 and above the illuminated source 20 is mounted a prism at. reflection 21 called upon to reflect the light coming from the source 20 in a generally horizontal direction through the projection optics 15, which may be of the standard type or comprise a rectifying prism, depending on the arrangement of the images on the film, this optic also being supported by the platform 18.
The light source 20 consists of an electric lamp housed in a cylinder 22 to. open ends (fi;,. 3) mounted on the platform 18 using a bracket 23, the wall of this cylinder having two diametrically opposed openings and whose axes coincide vertically, the upper opening communicating , with a tube 24 which houses the capacitor and which arrives as far as the almost immediate vicinity of the platform 18, while the lower opening is. provided with a concave mirror 25 designed to reflect the light upwards in the direction of the prism 21.
The mirror 25 is retained in the desired position by a threaded ba; ue 26, which allows the mirror to be removed for cleaning.
Above the platform 18 is: mounted a shutter 27, of known shape, intended to interrupt the journey intermittently. light between the upper end of the condenser tube 24 and the prism 21.
The drive motor 19 is. preferably provided with a fan 28 on one end of its shaft, as shown schematically in dotted lines in FIG. 2, this ventilator being called upon to suck Vair through an intake opening 29 provided. in the wall of the cabinet 1; the fan 28 is. housed in Him. led. 30 communicating with the cylinder 22 and terminating in a discharge port 31 provided on the opposite side of the cabinet 1. Due to this arrangement, the Inininous source receives a current of air when the apparatus is in use, so to dissipate the heat generated by this source.
In certain cases, it is possible to provide a movable heat shield 32 (fig. 10), interposed between the shutter 27 and the underside of the platform 18 and intended to absorb the heat generated by the lamp during heating. initiation of a projection or in the period of acceleration of the drive motor 1.9.
The mobile screen 32 comprises a small sheet of wire mesh 33 mounted in a frame 34 articulated at 35 on the upper wall of the cylinder 22, so that the screen 33 can hide or unmask the key orifice passage of light provided in the platform 18. A lever 36 starting from the frame 34 is articulated by a connecting rod 37 to. a lever 38 starting from an ankle. 39 journaling in the wall said cylinder 22 and penetrating therein, the part of the ankle contained in this cylinder being provided with a wind wing. 40.
A spring 151, working at. the. traction, urges the frame 34, towards the closed position, that is to say of coincidence with the end of the tube 24, position in which the fabric intercepts the heat generated by the lamp 20 before a current of cooling air. is established by motor 19 and fan 28. Once this current. established, wing 40 east. turn born around its pivot 39 by the pressure of the current. of air passing through the cylinder 22, so that the screen 32 moves in order to uncover the light passage opening made in the platform.
It is planned a store at. film in the form of a flat housing comprising. two main side walls 42 and 43, which have the shape of oblong rectangles, and four peripheral walls 44, 45, 46 and 47. However, it is understood that the store may have a shape other than rectangular, for example oval or elliptical. One of the side walls 42 or 43 and the peripheral walls 44-47 can be formed by a monolith molding or by an assembly of stamped or stamped parts, while the other wall 42 or 43 can constitute a removable plate, the whole being assembled. using screws (not shown).
In the housing forming the store are. assembled two film reels 48 and 49, one at each end, the shafts of these reels being formed by tubes 50 with internal splines (fig. 12), mounted for rotation in bearings formed by oriented flanges 51 towards the inside and surrounding key orifices for més clans the side walls 42, 43 of the casing, the arrangement being provided so as to allow access to the interior of the rod tubes 50 from the outside of the casing.
In the middle of a peripheral wall 47 of the casing, which wall will be referred to hereinafter as the front wall (FIGS. 4 and 6), is mounted a passage of the film consisting of a thin pierced blade 52 held apart by springs 53 of. with a fixed plate 54 carrying these springs, and biased towards a pierced plate 55 arranged in the immediate vicinity, while being slightly spaced apart, from the internal surface of the front wall 47 of the magazine, which is also pierced with coinciding openings with. the openings of the passage provided in the plates 54 and 55 and in the blade 52.
The store shown as an example is. intended for a strip of film 66 (fi-. 7 ) carrying two sets of images 57 and 58 side by side, but oriented in opposite directions along the film, elements 52, 54 , 55 which form, the film corridor, as well as the store front wall 47, being. provided with key two series of coincident exhibition openings. The two series of openings can be arranged in alignment in the middle part chi corridor, on either side of a median plane parallel to the side walls of the casing, or else, as shown in the sins, on either side. and the other both of this median plane and of the axis, perpendicular to this plane, of the film corridor.
Between the plate 55 and the internal surface of the. front wall 47 of the casing is mounted a sliding shutter 59 (fig. 5 and 6) having two openings 60 and 61 and being able to slide between two extreme positions, in each of which one or the other of the windows of exposure of the film corridor and of the wall 47 of the casing, window designated by 62 and 63 in FIG. 5, coincides with one of the openings 60 and 61 of the shutter 59 and is thus unmasked, the other orifice 62 or 63 being masked by the shutter, while, when the shutter 59 occupies an intermediate position diary, it masks the two orifices 62 and 63.
The shutter 59 occupies the latter position when the magazine is not in use.
At a point located behind the film corridor, the two side walls 42 and 43 of the casing are provided with orifices 64, while a screen 65, for example coming from mooring with one of the walls 42 or 43, delimits the space between the orifices 64 on the sides and at the rear of these orifices.
Behind the screen 65 and between the coils 48 and 49 is mounted a toothed film drive drum 66 (Fig. 4) having a tubular shaft 67 rotatably mounted in neat pads provided in the side walls 42 and 43 of the film. casing, in a manner analogous to that described above with regard to the shafts 50 of the coils 48 and 49. These latter shafts and the shaft 67 of the toothed drum 66 are parallel and aligned, the shaft also being internally splined. A curved screen 68 biased by a spring is provided on each side of the drum 66.
In the preferred variant, a second shutter or interior shutter 146 is provided on the interior face of the film corridor (FIG. 6) to prevent entry of dust into the magazine from the space delimited by the screen 65, when the store is not in service. This internal shutter has orifices similar to those of the primary shutter 59 and is joined to the latter in integral movement in any suitable manner.
The film 56 unwinds from one of the reels 48 or 49, the one which is momentarily the debtor reel, and goes towards the rear of the magazine, as indicated by the arrows in the fi. 4, then passes between one side of the toothed tain- CI 66 and a screen 68, then forms a free loop ending in the film passage, passes through the latter (in which it is advanced in an intermittent movement by a system which will be described below. -after and is finally brought to pass between the other face of the drum 66 and the other screen 68, to end in the other reel or receiver reel 48 or 49.
In the case shown (FIG. 7), the film 56 is provided with perforations along its two edges, but the driving drum 66 must only act on a series of perforations.
On the other hand, in the case of a mixed film, such as that described above, one can provide a single row of perforations 69 along the median line of the film between the two series of images, to cooperate with a toothed drum 66 comprising only a series of teeth.
The store is mounted so that one or the other of the walls 42 or 43 (43 in the case shown) comes into contact with an outer panel formed by the platform 18, this store coming to occupy a precise position. on this panel by means of appropriate members, for example the brackets 70 fixed to the platform 18 (FIG. 4).
Alternatively, the magazine can be secured by spring members which urge the magazine against appropriate stops of the platform. When the magazine is mounted on the panel formed by the platform 18, the prism 21 enters the interior of the magazine through the opening 64 provided in one or the other of the side walls 42 or 43, depending on whether 'one or the other constitutes the lower wall, this prism coming. lodge in the space delimited by the screen 65 behind the film corridor provided for the front wall 47 of the store.
The system by which the coils 48 and 49 and the toothed cylinder 66 are rotated for advancement. of the film is established as follows: The motor shaft 19 is connected by meshing pinions 71, 72, to. a longitudinal shaft 73 supported in bushes below the platform 18, this. shaft being coupled by a gear to. worm 74 with a transverse shaft 75 also supported in bearings below the platform 18.
On the one hand key shaft 75 are. mounted two rods 76, only one of which is shown in FIG. 1, and which are arranged for vertical movement in the appropriate guides 77, these rods being aligned axially respectively with the shaft 50 of that of the coils 48 and 49 which acts as the receiving coil, and with the toothed drum shaft 66.
The upper end of each rod 76 is provided with a long pinion 78, these rods being. called to be driven, by means of an appropriate gear train 79, from the common transverse shaft 75.
ries dimensions of the elongated pinions 76 are chosen to allow their coupling. rigid with the tubular cane shafts lengths 50 and 67 after lifting. rods 76 through appropriate openings provided in the platform 1.8 below the magazine.
An oscillating bar 80 is supported in bearings 81 extending downwards from the platform 18. From this bar spring elastic blades 82, the free ends of which engage in grooves (the collars 83 fixed on the rods 76. \ It is easily understood that a pivoting of the bar 80 in the clockwise direction (fig. 1) will have the effect of raising the elastic blades 82.
In case the pinions 78 are not in exact coincidence with the splined tubular shafts 50 or 67, the engagement may be delayed, but the elastic blades 82 will remain under tension, so that the engagement will take place as soon as the rods 76 will begin to rotate.
The oscillating movement is imparted to the bar 80 by a linkage comprising a rod 84, an elbow lever 85 and a bar with horizontal movement 86, the latter moving longitudinally under the action of a system (the control which will be described below.
The store is. retained in the mounting position on the platform 18 by means of a cerraue lever 87 fixedly mounted on a shaft 88 (fig. 2) itself mounted to rotate in spaced bearings 89 provided on the platform. form 18. The lever 87 can be tilted around the axis of the shaft 88 to an approximately vertical position, to allow the installation or removal of a magazine, or up to an approximately horizontal position (fig. 1), to grip and hold the magazine in place on the platform 18.
A sliding lock 90 is provided on the lever 87, the nose of this lock engaging on a stop 91, to retain the lever 87 in the clamping position of the magazine (FIG. 1).
In the variant shown, the lever 8 7 also constitutes. the main maneuvering or adjusting member intended to determine the relative positions of the combined operation of the members, required to effect the projection after mounting the magazine on the outer panel.
One end of the shaft 88 carrying the lever 87 is provided with a short lever 92 (fig. 1 and 2) connected to the aforementioned bar 86 of the wheelhouse intended to raise or lower the rods 76, the arrangement being such that, when the lever 87 is raised, that is to say turned in the clockwise direction according to the. fig. 1, the shaft 88 pivots in the bearings 89 and la. rod 86 moves longitudinally in a direction allowing rods 76 to occupy their lowered position, wherein the elongated sprockets 78 are released from the take-up reel and. of the toothed magazine drum.
When the lever 87 is folded into the position according to fi-. 1, in which he hand holds the magazine in place on the platform 18, the rod 86 is drawn in the opposite direction, so as to rotate the bar 80 and the elastic blades 82 in order to lift the rods 76 and achieve the above-mentioned motor coupling between the rods 76 and, respectively, the take-up reel and. the toothed drum of my gasin.
We will describe. hereinafter the system for producing the intermittent drive of the film 56 in the film corridor of the store. A shaft 93 is rotatably mounted in a bearing provided in the platform 18 (Figs. 5 and 6). This shaft carries a pinion 94 and a disk 95 to which is eccentrically articulated one end of a connecting rod 96.
A plate 97 is articulated by one of its ends to pivot about the axis of the shaft 93.
In the bearings provided on the plate 97 is mounted a rotary shaft 98 provided with a pin 99 constantly in engagement with the pinion 94 mounted on the shaft 93, the shaft 98 being further provided with a disc 100 on which one end of a lever 101 is eccentrically articulated, the free end of which is in the form of a claw 102 intended to engage in the perforations 69 of the strip of film 56. The end of the connecting rod 96 is articulated to the lever 101 at an intermediate point between the ends thereof.
The plate 97 is called upon to move in a plane generally parallel to that of the platform 18, around the axis of the shaft 93, between a position in which this plate is close to the front wall of the store, such as shown in solid lines in fig. 6, and another position in which the plate is moved away from this wall, as indicated in dotted lines in this figure. The pinion 94 of the shaft 93 is constantly in mesh with a motor pinion 103 driven by a suitable gear from the shaft 73 controlled by the motor, the pinion 103 also being constantly in mesh with the control gear train. shutter 27.
When the magazine is in place and the apparatus is operating, the plate 97 occupies the position close to the magazine, and the claw 102, while performing oscillatory movements composed as a result of the rotation of the discs 95 and 100 coupled by gears, in the manner known per se in cinematography, enters slots 104 provided in the front wall 47, the shutter 59, the plate 55, the blade 52 and the rear plate 54 of the film corridor of the store and, if necessary , the interior shutter 146 and successively engages the perforations 69 of the film strip 56, to impart thereto the desired intermittent movement through the film corridor.
When the reproduction or projection is finished or needs to be interrupted, to allow the magazine to be changed or turned over, the plate 97 moves around the axis of the shaft 93 to the magazine away position, in which the claw 102 cannot pass through the wall and the film corridor of the store, so that this claw does not interfere with the assembly and disassembly of a store: The aforementioned movements of the plate 97 are also controlled by the movements of the magazine clamping lever 87. To this end, the shaft 88 carrying the lever 87 carries a pinion 105 rotating integrally with this shaft during the movements of the lever and meshing with a second pinion 106 in engagement with a toothing 107 of the plate 97.
Thus, when the lever 87 is raised to release the magazine in order to allow its removal from the platform 18, the plate 97 moves away from the magazine, while the return movement of the magazine lever tightening 87 towards the position according to fig. 1, in order to clamp this magazine, or another, on the platform 18, has the effect of returning the plate 97 to the position close to the magazine, in which the claw 102 is able to enter the film corridor and to engage in the perforations 69 thereof.
-A flexible or elastic control mode can be provided between the shaft 88 and the pinion 105, for example by interposing a spring coupling between these members, so that the plate 97 is brought with certainty in the extreme position close to the store , before the clamping lever 87 reaches its extreme magazine clamping position.
Movements of the clamping lever 87 can also be used to move the sliding shutters 59 and 146 in order to hide or unmask the store image window.
To this end, the platform 18 carries, pivotally, an angled lever 108 ((fig. 3, 4, 5 and 6), one arm of which has, on its end, an open notch 109 with spaced branches, intended to receive a pin 110 starting from the shutter 59 and passing through a slot in the front wall 47 of the magazine. The end of the other arm of the elbow lever 108 is provided with a hole intended to receive the end of a lever 111 articulated by an intermediate point between these ends at one of the bearings 89. On the end of the shaft 88 carrying the magazine clamping lever 87 is fixed a disc 112 provided with a cam groove 113 in which engages the angled end of lever 111, remote from the angled lever 108.
When the clamp lever 87 is raised in order to prepare for mounting a magazine on the platform 18, the throat disc 112, the lever 111 and the angle lever 108 occupy positions such as, when a magazine, whose the shutters 59 and 146 mask the image windows, comes to be placed on the platform 18, the pin 110 engages in the notch 109 of the angled lever 108.
Lowering lever 87 to the magazine clamping position rotates disk 112 so as to pivot levers 111 and 108, the latter by an amount capable of moving shutters 59 and 146 by a distance. such that one or the other of the openings 60 or 61 of the front shutter 59 and the corresponding opening of the posterior or interior shutter 146 coincide with the appropriate window 62 or 63 of the magazine and the film corridor ( fig. 5).
The magazine is preferably provided with a braking or stopping device to prevent the advancement of the film 56 or the reels 48, 49 in the magazine housing when the latter is not in use, this braking device being actuated to enable training. of the film as soon as the maga sin is mounted on the platform.
A variant of such a braking device is shown in FIGS. 11 and 12. It comprises two levers 114 mounted on spaced pivots 115 provided in the store, these levers carrying rollers 116 intended to engage on the loop of the film, on the other hand. on the other side of the film corridor, the ends of these levers situated opposite the rollers being connected to each other by a tension spring 117, so that the film loop is put under tension and prevents, by friction, to move in the corridor of the film. The ends of the levers 114 are hinged, near the spring 117, to two crossed guide bars 118 arranged between one of the side walls 42 or 43 of the magazine housing and the coil flanges 48 and 49.
The ends of the bars 118 are called to engage, under the action of the spring 117, in the profiled corner portions 119 of the magazine housing, so that these bars are caused to grip the edge of the film roll by friction. or the coil flanges.
The release of the braking devices is ensured by a pivoting of the levers 1.14 when the magazine is mounted on the platform 18. To this end, a plug 120 with a conical head is slidably mounted in the rear wall of the screen 65 delimiting the space between the orifices 64 of the side walls of the magazine housing, this pin acting on stops 121 integral with the levers 114.
The arrangement is such that, when the reflection prism 21 enters an opening 61 of the magazine housing during mounting of the latter on the outer panel or platform 18, the housing 122 of the prism acts on the pin 120 for the storage. push back into the wall of the screen 65, so that the levers 114 are pivoted against the antagonism d. spring 117, which has the effect of releasing the tension on the film loop and removing the cross bars 118 from the profiled parts 119 of the magazine wall, so as to release the film roll or the flanges of the reels.
We are planning. also means for stopping the apparatus automatically at the end of the projection of a film.
On the plate 97 is pivotally mounted a wiper 123, the arrangement being such that, when the plate 97 occupies its position close to the magazine, that is to say when the apparatus is in service, as indicated in solid lines. in fig. 6, -one end of this Contact arm is biased by a spring so as to pass through an orifice provided in the front wall 47 and in the shutter 59 of the film passage, to come into contact with the edge, generally perforated, of the movie 56.
This end of the contact arm 123 cannot pass through the perforations 69 of normal size provided in the film, which is furthermore provided towards its end with a series of elongated perforations 124 of a format allowing both the passage of the end of the wiper 123 by these perforations, as well as by the other openings provided in the blade 52 and the posterior plate 54 of the film corridor.
Thus, when the end said film 56 approaches the passage and an oblong perforation 124 of the film appears in front of the end of the wiper 123, the latter can turn under the action of the spring around its pivot integral with the plate 97, this movement of the wiper being used to open or close contacts, such as 125, of an electric control circuit, with a view to stopping the apparatus.
A suitable control circuit is shown schematically in fig. 8. In this circuit, 126 designates the terminals of the power supply circuit. The starting of the motor 19 depends on a succession of maneuvers establishing the circuit, namely the closing of contacts 127, suitably placed on the platform 18, by the maneuver of placing the store 128 on the platform, the closing of the contacts 129 by bringing the latch 90 of the clamping lever 87 of the magazine into the locking position,
and contact closure 130 by means of a start button 131 suitably disposed and intended to be lowered against the antagonism of a return spring (not shown). A lock 132 is called to engage on a projection 133 of the start button 131, with a view to maintaining the latter in its lowered position after it has been depressed, this lock being controlled by a solenoid 134 or electrical relay equivalent.
When the slider 132 rotates in the manner indicated above by closing the contacts 125, the relay 135 is energized so as to remove the latch 123 from the projection 133 of the starter button 131, so that the latter can reassemble by cutting the circuit of motor 19 and light source 20.
The electromagnet 13-1 is pivotally mounted at 135 (fig. 4) and. can. be turned at any time around its pivot by hand using a button 136 provided on an elie- ville integral with the body of the electromagnet and passing through a slot 137 of the platform 18, this rotation having the effect of disengaging the latch 132 from the projection 1.33 and allowing the start button 131 to rise to interrupt the electrical circuit. The electromagnet is held in its.
normal or active position by a tension spring 138 which maintains the ankle bearing the button 136 against one end of the slot 137.
A device is also provided, in the form of a cam 14.7 mounted on the oscillating pull 80 and of a pusher 118, intended to bring the pivoting electromagnet 131 into the. position in which the latch is released from the projection 133 of the rod carrying the pusher 1.31, this device intervening during the raising of the clamping lever 87 of the magazine and being called upon to retain]. 'electromagnet 13-1 in the aforementioned position as long as the lever 87 remains raised.
Thus, in the event that the button was inadvertently lowered when there was no magazine on the outer panel, this button would not remain lowered, so that premature start-up of the appliance could not occur. not occur when positioning the magazine.
Before putting a store into operation, the operator must know which of the bo. bines from the store sits rolled up the film. To this end, windows, such as 139, can be provided on one or both side walls 42 and 43, these windows making it possible to observe the presence or absence of rope on one or the other reel. .
According to one variant, a visible index (not shown) can be provided, the position of which varies according to the modification of the diameter of the roll (the film wound on a reel.
Figure 13 shows an embodiment of a magazine for a combined image and photophonographic track line. This store has the main characteristics of the store described. above and comprising a toothed drum 66 for driving the film and a corridor through which the film is intermittently advanced for the purpose of projecting images.
In the magazine, behind the input drum 66, is mounted a tubular friction guide 140 having an outer groove, and around which the film is caused to move so that its edges are in contact with the edges. parts of the member 140 0 located on either side of the groove, during the path of the film coming from the reel 49 and moving. towards the drum 66, and, from there, towards the film corridor. Thus, when the apparatus is in use, the film moves continuously on the guide member 140 at a constant speed on its path. towards the film corridor through which it is driven intermittently by the claw 102, as described above.
The interior of the guide member 140 is accessible through the two side walls 42 and 43 of the store, which further comprises two other aligned housings 141 arranged symmetrically on either side of the guide member 140 and both accessible through the two side walls 42 and 43.
On the outer platform 18 is mounted a photoelectric cell 142 so as to be able to penetrate into the interior of the guide or gane 140 when a magazine is placed on the platform 18, as well as 'a light source 149 called to enter one or the other of the housings 141, depending on whether the side wall 42 or 43 of the store is located below, this in a manner similar to that described above in connection with the prism 21. The walls of the housings 141 and of the guide member 1.40 have slits allowing the light coming from the source 149 to pass through the translucent sound track of the film and to dye the photoelectric cell 142. The latter is connected to an appropriate amplifier, the. manner known per se.
In the case of a film strip carrying exclusively one or more sound tracks, the film lane in the front panel of the store will be deleted and the film will be driven only by the input drum 66.
Although, in the preferred embodiment, described and shown here, the store has openings 64 in its two side walls 42 and 43, and that it is intended to be turned over after one passage of the film, in order to due to the film being able to pass a second time in the same direction with respect to the lens 15, in order to project a second series of images, it is understood that, in certain cases, the magazine only has an opening 64 in one wall side only and, instead of turning the magazine upside down to project a second row of images (or to reproduce a separate photophonographic recording),
the magazine can be held in its original mounting position and the direction of film movement ahead of the optics reversed through the use of a suitable reversing mechanism of any suitable shape in the feed system, with provision of a third rod 76 with elongated pinion or splined end 78 intended to engage in the hollow splined shaft of the reel hitherto supplying and now receiving, the reflection prism 21 being in this case mounted at an adjustable height relative to the platform 18 and the store, in order to project the light beam through one or the other of the vertically spaced image windows (and, in this case, vertically aligned),
depending on whether one or the other of the rows of images is to be projected (or whether one or the other soundtrack is to be reproduced).
Known type friction and slip coupling members (not shown) are interposed in the reel control systems, in order to compensate for changes in the relative peripheral speeds of the wound film and the toothed drum as the dianzeter of the coil. film roll increases.
In some cases, for example when small format and reduced length films are employed, the toothed film driving drum 66 of the construction described above may be omitted, and the film driving toothed drum 66 may be dispensed with. use of a system as shown in FIG. 9 and in which the film is driven through the passage by the intermittently acting claw 102 and is wound on the take-up and drive reel, this film passing, on its way to the passage, as well as after leaving it. Ci, on guide rollers 143 relatively close together, as well as around two spring arms or elastic guides 144 each arranged at one end of the film corridor,
so that the intermittent traction of the claw acting on the film in the neck is transformed into a uniform movement and the movement of the reels is substantially continuous. A separator plate 145 is provided between the rollers to prevent the two ends of the film loop from rubbing against each other.
Instead of providing the drive claw 102 and control members on a mobile support such as the. plate 97, in order to allow its removal to a position remote from a magazine mounted on the platform, this magazine may itself be designed to be moved on the outer panel during its assembly or disassembly, in the sense of approach or distance from the claw.
For example, the magazine can be set up so as to meet, when it is placed on the panel 18, an elastic stopper biased by a spring, or the like, and which keeps the magazine away from the claw, after which the magazine will be pressed so as to come to occupy an exact and predetermined position, in which the magazine is engaged with the claw 80 and in which it is held by the clamping lever 87.
In this case, the lever 87 can be provided with a cam or other stop surface intended to act on a profiled member of the magazine housing, in order to urge the magazine towards the predetermined position mentioned above, during the movement of this lever towards the. clamping position, and vice versa.
Platform 18 is. preferably mounted on the box 1 so as to. be able to be raised around a hinge 150 provided at its inner end, in order to give access to the underside of the platform, for the purposes of inspection of parts, lamp replacement, etc.
