<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

SUSPENDED FILES FOR DRAWINGS OR SIMILAR.
The invention relates to a suspension file for designs or the like consisting of clamping strips which can be slid in guide rails and with the help of which the designs can be entered. The embodiments of guide rails and clamping strips known hitherto are not satisfactory from the point of view of handling and operating safety. After relatively short use, the rulers get stuck in the guide rails. The object of the invention is to eliminate these disadvantages and to increase the efficiency of suspension files.
An essential characteristic of the invention is constituted by the fact that the clamping strips have, near the guide rail, a T-shaped cross section and that each of the two lateral webs has a special guide in the guide rails. the guide rails that the clamping strips obtain a very rigid cross section and.! ' at the same time. 9 impeccable guidance. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the guide rails have a rectangular cross section.
In this case, the lower walls of the guide rails are slit longitudinally so that the webs of the clamping strips can be slid there. The assembly of the cabinet is facilitated by the fact that, according to a development of the invention, the guide rails are fixed to the transverse supports by means of clamps which can be tightened.
The invention also relates to the production of the clamping strip which consists essentially of a main support rail and a clamping rail which can be pressed against said main rail.
According to a feature of the invention, the clamping rail moves approximately parallel to the main rail and a wedge-shaped bearing piece is provided between the two rails which causes the displacement, either towards one another. , or one from the other, clamping rails.
According to a preferred embodiment, the main rail and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the clamping rail has a V-shaped cross section. The rails engage one into the other and one of the webs serves to clamp the drawings while the other web serves to receive the support piece ooino shaped
The device is particularly simplified when, following the invention, one of the webs of the main rail has one or more inclined slots in which pins are guided which are fixed to the corresponding web of the clamping rail.
The invention also provides for providing the mechanism with a key which serves to block the clamping rail.
According to another embodiment for fixing the guide rails, these are connected to the corresponding transverse support by a sheet which passes, on the one hand, above the transverse support and, on the other hand. part., under the guide rails
One embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figo 1 is a sectional side view of a hanging file cabinet.
Fig. 2 is a front sectional view of the cabinet according to fig. 1.
Figo 3 is., On a larger scale, the upper and lateral part of a slide-clamping slide in a guide rail.
Figo 4 represents a section along line IV-IV of figo 30
Fig. 5 shows another embodiment in section of a guide rail attachment.
Figa 6 is a side view of the binding according to fig.
5.
In a hanging file cabinet made of wood or metal as shown in Figs 1 and 2, the shutter 1, used to close the cabinet, is arranged in a known manner in the base A. A guide mechanism known per se is provided behind the part of the cabinet that can be closed and in the upper part B used for files 2, several of which can be placed next to each other depending on the size of the cabinet. main space C is used to receive the drawings arranged in the manner of hanging files
In its transverse direction the cabinet is crossed by two metal supports 3 which are fixed, to the side walls, by iron angles 4. The transverse supports 3 are used for the fixing of a certain number of guide rails 5 of which only five are shown in fig. 2.
The guide rails are used to receive clamping strips 6 which are slid into said rails and whose ends abut against a padded protective support 7, provided on the inner face of the rear wall of the cabinet. At their front end, the clamping strips 6 carry indicator plates 80
The production of the guide rails and the clamping strips is shown on a larger scale in an isolated mechanism in FIGS. 3 and 4. The guide rail 5 consists of a hollow metal bar with a rectangular cross section. The lower wall is provided with a wide slot 9.
Near the transverse supports 3, each guide rail is gripped by a clamp 10 which overlaps the transverse support and which clamps the guide rail 5 against the corresponding transverse support 3, using a screw. tightening 11 and immobilizes it in this way.
The clamping strip 6 is formed by a main rail 12, the upper longitudinal edge of which is folded back several times.,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
at right angle The vertical part 13 is reinforced by a sheet metal band = 140 The core formed by this reinforcement constitutes the central core of a T-shaped cross section which is formed by the fact that the edges are folded towards the opposite sides. side 15 of the clamping strip can be slid into the slot 9 of the guide rail and slide on guides formed by the two remaining edges of the lower wall of the guide rail Le,
reinforcement of the T-cross section of the guide part of the clamping strip gives the latter great strength.
The solidity of the clamping strip is further reinforced by a riveted batten 16 with a V-shaped cross section. This batten 16 thus forms part of the main rail 12. Inside the batten 16 is provided another batten 17. in V which forms the real clamping rail for the drawings which have to be entered.
The drawings, which may include any number of boards, are shown in fig. 4 by a dashed line 180. The clamping rail 17 is disposed in the batten 16 so that it can move approximately parallel to the latter. two is provided a wedge-shaped bearing piece by which the clamping rail is moved in one direction against the batten 16 or the main rail 12 and, in 1-'other direction, is moved away from the main rail The wedge-shaped bearing piece is formed, in the embodiment shown, by the fact that the web 19 of the clamping rail 17 is provided with a rivet at the head 20, or with a screw. ,
protruding which engages in a slot 21 of the soul 22 of the batten 16 in Vo. The slot 21 forms an acute angle with respect to the longitudinal direction of the batten. Such slot and pin connections, for example three, are distributed over the length of the clamping strip.
When the clamping rail 17 is moved longitudinally with its rivets, these move in their inclined slots 21 and move the clamping rail 17 towards or away from the main rail 12. In this way it is possible to exert a strong force. clamping pressure on the edges of the designs, allowing a large number to be grabbed with certainty. The angular position of the slots 21 is determined so as to bring about an automatic braking.
The wedge-shaped bearing piece obtained in this way could also be produced by providing wedge-shaped projections on the web 19 and on the web 22 and which slide against one another, in this case; ,, special devices should be provided to separate the two parts from each other.
To achieve more bore when tightening the drawings, a key in the form of a removable lever 23 is provided, consisting of a flat iron with two pins 24 and 25. The core 20 is provided with an edge batten 26 re - folded, equipped with holes 27 in which the pin 24 engages.
A sheet iron angle 28 is attached to the core 19 and is provided with a slot 29 in which engages the spindle 25 By pivoting the key 23 around the spindle 24, the clamping rail 17 is moved relative to the main rail 12 and in this way tightening or loosening is carried out.
For the protection of the interposed designs there is provided, between the main rail 12 and the reinforcing batten 16, a cover 30 made of cardboard, pressed fiber or the like which can also be equipped with a front part 31 which can be folded down. this way the designs are protected on both sides. The rear cover 30 and the front part can be connected at their edges by a removable clip or a tab, not shown.
The removable key 23 provides some security against unauthorized removal of the designs from the clamping rail.
Figs. 5 and 6 show another embodiment of the connection of the guide rails 5 with the transverse supports 3. A sheet 32 is provided, at determined distances, with windows 33 for the guide rails 5. The longitudinal edges 34 and 35 of the sheet 32 are folded back so that the edge 34 rests at the top against the transverse supports 3 and the edge 35 surrounds the guide rails 5 from below.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The edge 34 can, in addition, go beyond the other upper edge of the transverse supports 3. The lower edge 35 is provided with cutouts 36 which correspond to the slot 9 in the lower wall of the guide rail and which thus allow the introduction of the clamping strip 60 The elements can be connected to each other, for example, by spot welding.
