Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method and a device for assembling wooden beams.
More particularly, the present invention applies to the assembly of one end of a wooden beam, known as a supported beam, on one side of another wooden beam, known as a carrying beam, the supported beam being arranged not perpendicular to the supporting beam. By beam is meant any elongated piece of wood forming part of a frame, in particular in a building.
In the methods of the prior art, the end of the supported beam is usually cut at an angle so as to be parallel to the support beam, and the end cut at an angle is nailed to the side of the support beam.
However, this process must be carried out manually, so that it cannot easily be industrialized for large series. In addition, the security of an assembly by nailing can be quite random, especially if the nailing is manual: points can in particular be twisted inside the wood. In addition, the control of such an assembly is difficult. In particular, after assembly, we no longer see the length of the spikes which connect the carried beam to the carrying beam.
The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks.
The subject of the present invention is a method of assembling a wooden beam supported on a load-bearing beam, the load-bearing beam having at least one substantially vertical plane face and the beam supported having a plane end cut at an angle, fixed to said face. plane of the support beam and parallel to said planar face of the support beam, characterized in that said method comprises the step of fixing said end of the beam carried to said substantially vertical plane face of the support beam using a stirrup made of sheet metal pierced with holes distributed over its surface, cut and folded, said stirrup comprising:

With reference to FIGS. 2 and 3, the stirrup 10 for assembling the beam carried on the carrying beam is formed in a flat sheet, generally metallic, pierced with holes 19 regularly distributed over the surface of said sheet. As shown in Figure 3, the bracket 10 has a substantially vertical face 11 which is contiguous to the vertical face 5 of the support beam 3, and which is fixed to said face 5, by means of nails driven into the holes 19 of said face 11, or optionally by means of screws passing through the same holes 19. The vertical face 11 extends between an upper fold line 11 a and a lower fold line 1 lb. The upper fold line 11a is substantially at the same level as an upper edge Sa of the face 5 of the support beam, and is arranged parallel to said upper edge Sa. The stirrup further comprises a lower support part 12, which extends from the lower fold line of the vertical planar face II and which is folded substantially at right angles under the lower face 9 of the supported beam. In addition, the lower support part 12 has a retention end 13, which is folded upwards around a fold line 12a, against a vertical face 30 of the supported beam, said face 30 being directed opposite of the supporting beam 3. The retention end 13 is generally fixed to the supported beam 4, for example by nailing or screwing through the holes 19. Furthermore, the stirrup 10 comprises two wings 14, 15, which tend to from the upper fold line 1aa of the vertical plane face 11 of the stirrup, a first wing 14 being folded at right angles to the upper face 31 of the supported beam, and a second wing 15 being folded at right angles to the upper face 7 of the supporting beam. In the example shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the first wing 14 further comprises a retention end 16 which is folded against the face 30 of the supported beam, the face 30 being directed opposite the support beam, and the second wing 15 has a retention end 17 which is folded against the vertical face 8 of the support beam, said face 8 being opposite to the supported beam 4. The second wing 15 is generally fixed to the support beam 3 by nailing or screwing, and the retention end 13 as well as the first wing 14 are fixed to the supported beam 4, by nailing or screwing through the holes 19 of the sheet.
The stirrup 10 can generally be made of steel, with a sheet thickness of, for example, between 1 and 1.5 mm.
The stirrup 10 according to the invention makes it possible not only to take up the vertical forces due to gravity, but also to take up the tearing forces which tend to distance the carried beam from the carrying beam, thanks in particular to the second wing 15 and possibly at its retention edge 17. In addition, the first wing 14 makes it possible to take up the lifting efforts of the supported beam 4, and the first wing 14, associated with the retention edge 13 and possibly at the retention edge 16, makes it possible to resume the spillage efforts of the supported beam 4.
As shown in FIG. 4, the stirrup 10 is formed from a flat sheet 40 pierced with holes 19 regularly distributed over its surface. The plate 40 extends between a first end 10a and a second end 10b, the first end 10a being intended to form the wings of the stirrup, and the second end 10b being intended to form the lower support part 12 and its end retention 13. To obtain the bracket shown in Figure 3, the sheet metal plate shown in Figure 4 must be folded along three fold lines 1a, 1 lob, 12a.
The sheet metal plate 40 further comprises a slot 18, which extends from its first end 10a to its second end 10b, at least up to the fold line Ila.
During the assembly of the supported beam 4 on the supporting beam 3, it is possible to use a stirrup blank having the shape of the sheet 40 of FIG. 4.
In this case, the stirrup blank is first fixed on the vertical face 5 of the beam 3, between the lines 11a and 1b. After this first attachment, the first end 10a of the stirrup blank 40 is disposed upwards, the slot 18 being substantially vertical and extending from the end 10a downwards to at least the upper edge. Sa of the vertical face 5 of the carrying beam, and at least the position subsequently occupied by an upper edge 6a of the end face 6 of the supported beam, so that the wings 14 and 15 can be folded correctly.
Then, the second wing 15 is folded around the fold line Ila, on the upper face 7 of the support beam, and said second wing 15 is fixed to the support beam by screwing or nailing. Subsequently, the second end 10b of the stirrup blank 40 is folded substantially at right angles around the lower fold line 1 lob, so as to form the lower support part 12 of the stirrup. It is then possible to arrange the carried beam 4 on said lower support part 12, then fold the retention end 13 of the lower support part 12 against the vertical face 30 of the carried beam. The retention end 13 can then be fixed to the carried beam, for example by nailing or screwing. Finally, the first wing 14 is folded around the fold line Ila on the upper face 31 of the carried beam, and the fixed the first wing 14 on said carried beam, for example by screwing or nailing. Note that the fold line 11a can be offset from one side and the other of the slot 18, as shown in Figure 4, for example if the upper edge 6a of the end face 6 of the beam span is not at the same level as the upper edge Sa of the vertical face 5 of the support beam.
As shown in FIG. 5, it is also possible to use as a stirrup blank 50 a sheet similar to that of FIG. 4 but already folded substantially at right angles around its fold line 1 lb. The assembly process is then substantially the same as described above.
As shown in FIG. 6, the factory-prepared stirrup blank 60 can be similar to that of FIG. 5, but also include a slight bending around the bending line 12a, so that the retention end 13 of the lower support part 12 of the stirrup is slightly raised towards the first end 10a of the sheet. The angle at which the retention end 13 is folded will generally be quite small, so as not to hinder the nailing or screwing on the vertical face II of the stirrup. This angle could be equal for example to about 15.
The present invention is not limited to the assembly of rectangular section beams. The beams 3 and 4 can have any cross-section, provided that the carrying beam 3 has a substantially vertical plane face 5, and that the supported beam 4 has a plane end face 6 cut at an angle.
