Abstract
Se revela una aleacion de acero de elevada resistencia y elevada tenacidad. La aleacion tiene la siguiente composicion, expresada en un amplio intervalo de porcentajes expresados en peso: C 0,35-0,55, Mn 0,6-1,2, Si 0,9-2,5, P 0,01 máx., S 0,001 máx., Cr 0,75-2,0, Ni 3,5-7,0, Mo+1/2 %W 0,4-1,3, Cu 0,5-0,6, Co 0,01 máx.,V+(5/9) x Nb 0,2-1,0, Fe resto. En el saldo se incluyen las impurezas usuales que se encuentran en los tipos comerciales de aleaciones de acero producidos para usos similares y con propiedades similares. También se revela un artículo endurecido y templado que tiene una resistencia y una tenacidad a la fractura, muy elevadas. El artículo se forma a partir de la aleacion que tiene la composicion con el amplio intervalo de porcentajes en peso, indicado en lo que precede. El artículo de aleacion de acuerdo con este aspecto de la presente solicitud se caracteriza además por estar templado a una temperatura de aproximadamente 500°F a 600°F (260°C) a (316°C).
