Abstract

Una cepa de Bifidobacterium globosum obtenible mediante el aislamiento del tracto gastrointestinal lavado y extirpado de caninos; la cepa tiene actividad probiotica. Dicha cepa tiene la habilidad de sobrevivir y colonizar el tracto gastrointestinal de un animal de companía, y tiene al menos 33% de crecimiento cuando se cultiva en presencia de 0,5% de sales biliares y es capaz de mantener su viabilidad después de 1 hora a un pH 2,5. Dicha cepa tiene una secuencia polinucleotica intergénica 16s- 23s que tiene al menos 93% de homología con la secuencia de acuerdo con SEQ ID Num 1. Dicha cepa para tratar las condiciones seleccionadas de entre la regulacion del sistema inmunitario de animales de companía, mantener o mejorar la salud del sistema cutáneo, tratar o prevenir una infeccion en el tracto urinario del animal de companía. Una composicion que comprende dicha cepa Bifidobacterium globosum y un portador. Dicha composicion es un alimento para animales de companía, en donde el animal de companía es un perro o un gato, y es un alimento humedo o deshidratado para animales. Además, se encuentra en forma de galleta desmenuzada y deshidratada, alimentos para masticar, suplemento para animales de companía, caldillo producto lácteo, cápsula, tableta o píldora.
