Abstract

Una batería alcalina que comprende: un cátodo que comprende un material catódico activo que incluye dióxido de manganeso-lambda; un ánodo que comprende zinc; un separador entre el ánodo y el cátodo; y un electrolito alcalino que se pone en contacto con el ánodo y el cátodo, en la cual el material catódico activo posee una capacidad de descarga específica a una tensión de corte de 0.8V superior a 290 mAh/g a una tasa de descarga de 20 mA/g de material catódico activo. Un método de fabricación de una batería alcalina que comprende: provisión de un electrodo positivo que incluye un material catódico activo con óxido de manganeso-lambda; y conformación de una batería que incluye el electrodo positivo y un electrodo de zinc; en tanto el material catódico activo posee una capacidad de descarga específica a una tensión de corte de 0.8V superior a 300 mAh/g a una tasa de descarga de 20 mA/g de material activo. La provisión del electrodo incluye preparar dióxido de manganeso-lambda a través de un método que comprende: poner en contacto agua con un compuesto de la fórmula Li1+Mn2-xO4 en la cual oscila entre -0.02 y +0.02; incorporar un ácido al agua y compuesto hasta que el agua posea un pH de 1 ó menos; separar un sólido del agua y ácido; y secar el sólido a una temperatura de 120 grados C o inferior para obtener el dióxido de manganeso-lambda.
