Abstract
Un catalizador para la purificación de gases de escape de un motor de combustión interna, que incluye un revestimiento catalíticamente activo sobre un cerámico inerte o cuerpo panal (nido de abeja) de metal, dicho revestimiento comprende por lo menos un metal del grupo de platino seleccionado del grupo consistente en platino, paladio, rodio e iridio de un material de soporte oxídico. Como un material de soporte oxídico, el catalizador comprende un material de porosidad baja sobre la base de dióxido de silicio que incluye agregados de partículas primarias esencialmente esféricas que tienen un diámetro promedio de partícula entre 7 y 60 nm. Se describe también el procedimiento de preparación del catalizador y su uso.
