本開示は、電池および固体電池に関する。
特許文献1は、インジウムをカチオンとして含み、かつハロゲン元素をアニオンとして含む化合物を固体電解質として用いた電池を開示している。
従来技術においては、電池の安全性をさらに向上させることが望まれる。
本開示の一様態における電池は、
正極活物質層と、負極活物質層と、前記正極活物質層および前記負極活物質層の間に位置する固体電解質層とを備え、
下記要件(i)または(ii)を満たす。
(i)前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質と硫化物固体電解質とを含み、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は25%以下である。
(ii)前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質と臭気物質とを含み、

本開示によれば、電池の安全性をさらに向上させることができる。
(本開示の基礎となった知見)
近年の研究によれば、硫化物固体電解質は、特定の条件下で燃えることがある。硫化物固体電解質は、空気中の水分と反応して硫化水素を発生させることがある。しかし、硫化水素は容易に検知されうるので、電池の容器が破損または劣化したときに内容物の漏れを容易に検知できるというメリットがある。
近年の研究によれば、硫化物固体電解質は、特定の条件下で燃えることがある。硫化物固体電解質は、空気中の水分と反応して硫化水素を発生させることがある。しかし、硫化水素は容易に検知されうるので、電池の容器が破損または劣化したときに内容物の漏れを容易に検知できるというメリットがある。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質は、上記特定の条件でも燃えにくい。そのため、固体電解質としてハロゲン化物固体電解質を用いた電池は、硫化物固体電解質を用いた電池よりも安全性に優れる。しかし、ハロゲン化物固体電解質は無臭であるため、電池の容器が破損または劣化したときに内容物の漏れを検知しにくいという課題がある。
本発明者は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質を用いた電池の安全性をさらに向上させる方法について鋭意研究した。その結果、硫化物固体電解質などの臭気物質を微量に加えることで、電解質の漏れを早期に検知できることを発見した。
(本開示に係る一態様の概要)
本開示の第1態様に係る電池は、
正極活物質層と、負極活物質層と、前記正極活物質層および前記負極活物質層の間に位置する固体電解質層とを備え、
下記要件(i)または(ii)を満たす。
(i)前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質と硫化物固体電解質とを含み、

以上の構成によれば、硫化物固体電解質などの臭気物質によって電解質等の漏れを早期に検知できる。例えば、電池が硫化物固体電解質を含む場合には、硫化物固体電解質が電池の外部に漏れると、硫化物固体電解質は空気中の水分と反応して硫化水素を発生する。硫化水素は腐卵臭を有するため、その臭いにより漏れを容易に検知できる。したがって、電池の安全性を向上させることができる。
本開示の第2態様において、例えば、第1態様に係る電池では、前記要件(i)において、前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は5%以下であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池の安全性を向上させることができる。
本開示の第3態様において、例えば、第2態様に係る電池では、前記要件(i)において、前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は1%以下であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池の安全性を向上させることができる。
本開示の第4態様において、例えば、第2態様に係る電池では、前記要件(i)において、前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は0.1%以下であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池の安全性を向上させることができる。
本開示の第5態様において、例えば、第2態様に係る電池では、前記要件(i)において、前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は0.01%以下であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池の安全性を向上させることができる。
本開示の第6態様において、例えば、第1から第5態様のいずれか1つに係る電池では、前記要件(i)において、前記硫化物固体電解質は、Li2S-P2S5、Li2S-SiS2、Li2S-B2S3、Li2S-GeS2、Li3.25Ge0.25P0.75S4、およびLi10GeP2S12からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つを含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、硫化物固体電解質のイオン伝導度を向上させることができる。
本開示の第7態様において、例えば、第1態様に係る電池では、前記要件(ii)において、前記臭気物質は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有さない物質であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池の安全性を向上させることができる。
本開示の第8態様において、例えば、第1から第7態様のいずれか1つに係る電池では、前記ハロゲン化物固体電解質は、Liと、Li以外の金属元素および半金属元素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つと、F、Cl、BrおよびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つと、を含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、ハロゲン化物固体電解質のイオン伝導度を向上させることができる。
本開示の第9態様において、例えば、第8態様に係る電池では、前記ハロゲン化物固体電解質は、下記の組成式(1)により表されていてもよい。

(ii)正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および臭気物質を含む。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する臭気物質の質量の比率は1%以下である。
本開示において、「臭気」とは、人間の嗅覚により感知されうる、または検出素子により検知されうる臭いを意味する。「臭気物質」とは、それ自体が臭気を有する物質、および電池10の外部に漏れた際に空気中の水分と反応して臭気を発生する物質を含む意味である。前者の例は、二酸化硫黄である。後者の例は、硫化物固体電解質202である。「臭気物質」は、硫黄原子を含む低分子量の化合物、またはアンモニアおよびトリメチルアミン等の窒素化合物であってもよい。
以上の構成によれば、硫化物固体電解質202などの臭気物質によって電解質等の漏れを早期に検知できる。例えば、電池10が臭気物質として硫化物固体電解質202を含む場合には、硫化物固体電解質202が電池10の外部に漏れると、硫化物固体電解質202は空気中の水分と反応して硫化水素を発生する。硫化水素は腐卵臭を有するため、その臭いにより漏れを容易に検知できる。漏れが検知された場合、電池10の充電または放電を速やかに停止させるとともに、不具合が発生したことを外部に報知することができる。したがって、電池10の安全性を向上させることができる。なお、図1では、固体電解質層102がハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202を含む場合を例示している。
臭気物質を電池に添加すると添加量の増加に伴い電池の性能は低下すると予測される。しかし、硫化物固体電解質は、高いイオン伝導度を有するので、電池の出力特性を向上させる働きを持つ。そのため、上記要件(i)を満たす場合には、硫化物固体電解質を添加することによる電池10の性能の低下が抑制される。したがって、電池10の性能を維持しつつ、電池10の安全性を向上させることができる。また、上記要件(ii)を満たす場合には、臭気物質の比率が少ないため、電池10の性能の低下を抑制しつつ、電池10の安全性を向上させることができる。
正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する硫化物固体電解質202の質量の比率は、例えば、以下の方法で算出しうる。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の断面のSEM像から、硫化物固体電解質202の輪郭を抽出し、面積を算出する。次に、この面積と等価な面積を有する円の半径(円相当径)を算出する。硫化物固体電解質202が、算出された円相当径を有する真球であるとみなして、円相当径から硫化物固体電解質202の体積を算出しうる。同様の方法により、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102に含まれる複数の硫化物固体電解質202について、それぞれ体積を算出する。得られた値の合計が正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102に含まれる硫化物固体電解質202の総体積である。硫化物固体電解質202の密度は、文献等から知ることができる。これらの値から、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する硫化物固体電解質202の質量の比率を算出できる。
正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する臭気物質の質量の比率は、例えば、以下の方法で算出しうる。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102に含まれている臭気物質は、例えば、溶媒を用いてこれらの層に含まれている固体電解質等を溶解させた後、正極活物質および負極活物質を除去することにより取り出すことができる。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量と、臭気物質の質量とは、上記取り出しの前後の質量から知ることができる。これらの値から、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する臭気物質の質量の比率を算出できる。また、赤外線分光分析(FT-IR分析)法またはガスクロマトグラフィー質量分析(GC-MS分析)法によっても、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する臭気物質の質量の比率を得ることができる。
上記要件(i)において、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する硫化物固体電解質202の質量の比率は5%以下であってもよい。硫化物固体電解質202の比率を減らすと電池10の難燃性をさらに高めることができる。これにより、電池10の安全性を向上させることができる。
上記要件(i)において、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する硫化物固体電解質202の質量の比率は1%以下であってもよい。硫化物固体電解質202の比率を減らすと電池10の難燃性をさらに高めることができる。これにより、電池10の安全性を向上させることができる。

上記要件(i)において、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する硫化物固体電解質202の質量の比率の下限値は特に限定されない。下限値は、例えば、0.001%である。
上記要件(ii)において、正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102の合計質量に対する臭気物質の質量の比率の下限値は特に限定されない。下限値は、例えば、0.001%である。
正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102のいずれか1つの層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202を含んでいてもよい。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102のすべての層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202を含んでいてもよい。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102からなる群より選ばれる任意の2つの層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202を含んでいてもよい。
正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102のいずれか1つの層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および臭気物質を含んでいてもよい。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102のすべての層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および臭気物質を含んでいてもよい。正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102からなる群より選ばれる任意の2つの層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および臭気物質を含んでいてもよい。
図1に例示されるように、固体電解質層102が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202を含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池10の性能を維持しつつ、電池10の安全性をさらに向上させることができる。
上記要件(i)において、硫化物固体電解質202は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有する固体電解質であってもよい。硫化物固体電解質202がリチウムイオン伝導性を有する固体電解質の場合、硫化物固体電解質202としては、例えば、硫化リチウム(Li2S)および五硫化二リン(P2S5)からなる合成物が挙げられる。
上記要件(i)において、硫化物固体電解質202は、Li2S-P2S5、Li2S-SiS2、Li2S-B2S3、Li2S-GeS2、Li3.25Ge0.25P0.75S4、およびLi10GeP2S12からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つを含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、硫化物固体電解質202のイオン伝導度を向上させることができる。
また、上記の硫化物固体電解質202に、添加剤としてLi3N、LiCl、LiBr、Li3PO4、およびLi4SiO4からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つが添加されてもよい。
上記要件(ii)において、臭気物質は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有さない物質であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、電池10の安全性を向上させることができる。
臭気物質がリチウムイオン伝導性を有さない物質である場合、臭気物質としては、例えば、二酸化硫黄、低分子量メルカプタン、ジアルキルスルフィド、ジアルキルジスルフィド、およびこれらの混合物が挙げられる。低分子量メルカプタンとしては、例えば、メチルメルカプタン、エチルメルカプタン、イソプロピルメルカプタン、イソブチルメルカプタン、およびtert-ブチルメルカプタン等が挙げられる。アンモニアおよびトリメチルアミン等の窒素化合物も、リチウムイオン伝導性を有さない臭気物質である。
臭気物質は、マイクロカプセルに内包されていてもよい。マイクロカプセルは、例えば、周囲の温度が一定の温度を超えると、熱分解するように構成されていてもよい。一定の温度は、例えば、100℃であってもよい。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質201は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有する材料でありうる。ハロゲン化物固体電解質201は、Liと、Li以外の金属元素および半金属元素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つと、F、Cl、BrおよびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つと、を含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201のイオン伝導度を向上させることができる。
本開示において、「半金属元素」とは、B、Si、Ge、As、SbおよびTeである。「金属元素」とは、水素を除く周期表1族から12族中に含まれるすべての元素、ならびに、B、Si、Ge、As、Sb、Te、C、N、P、O、S、およびSeを除く周期表13族から16族中に含まれるすべての元素である。すなわち、「半金属元素」または「金属元素」とは、ハロゲン元素と無機化合物を形成した際に、カチオンとなりうる元素群である。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質201は、硫黄を含まない材料であってもよい。ハロゲン化物固体電解質201が硫黄を含まない場合、硫化水素ガスの発生を抑制できる。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質201は、以下の組成式(1)により表されていてもよい。

ここで、α、β、およびγは、それぞれ独立して、0より大きい値である。Mは、Li以外の金属元素および半金属元素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つである。Xは、F、Cl、Br、およびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つである。
組成式(1)で表されるハロゲン化物固体電解質201は、Liおよびハロゲン元素からなるLiIなどのハロゲン化物固体電解質と比較して、高いイオン伝導度を有する。そのため、組成式(1)で表されるハロゲン化物固体電解質201によれば、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201のイオン伝導度をより向上させることができる。
組成式(1)において、Mは、Y(=イットリウム)を含んでいてもよい。すなわち、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201は、金属元素としてYを含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201のイオン伝導度をより向上させることができる。
Yを含むハロゲン化物固体電解質は、例えば、LiaMebYcX6の組成式で表される化合物であってもよい。ここで、a+mb+3c=6、および、c>0が満たされる。Meは、LiおよびYを除く金属元素および半金属元素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つである。mは、元素Meの価数である。Xは、F、Cl、BrおよびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つである。
Meは、例えば、Mg、Ca、Sr、Ba、Zn、Sc、Al、Ga、Bi、Zr、Hf、Ti、Sn、TaおよびNbからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つであってもよい。
以上の構成によれば、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201のイオン伝導度をより向上させることができる。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質201としては、例えば、Li3YX6、Li2MgX4、Li2FeX4、Li(Al,Ga,In)X4、Li3(Al,Ga,In)X6などが挙げられる。ここで、Xは、F、Cl、BrおよびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つである。
本開示において、化学式中の表記「(A,B,C)」は、「A、B、およびCからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つ」を意味する。例えば、「(Al,Ga,In)」は、「Al、GaおよびInからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つ」と同義である。他の元素の場合でも同様である。
Yを含むハロゲン化物固体電解質201として、より具体的には、例えば、Li3YF6、Li3YCl6、Li3YBr6、Li3YI6、Li3YBrCl5、Li3YBr3Cl3、Li3YBr5Cl、Li3YBr5I、Li3YBr3I3、Li3YBrI5、Li3YClI5、Li3YCl3I3、Li3YCl5I、Li3YBr2Cl2I2、Li3YBrCl4I、Li2.7Y1.1Cl6、Li2.5Y0.5Zr0.5Cl6、およびLi2.5Y0.3Zr0.7Cl6などが挙げられる。
硫化物固体電解質202の形状は、特に限定されない。硫化物固体電解質202の形状は、例えば、針状、球状、楕円球状などであってもよい。例えば、硫化物固体電解質202の形状は、粒子状であってもよい。
臭気物質の形状は、特に限定されない。臭気物質の形状は、例えば、針状、球状、楕円球状などであってもよい。例えば、臭気物質の形状は、粒子状であってもよい。臭気物質がマイクロカプセルに内包される場合、臭気物質の形状は、例えば、ゲル状、液体状などであってもよい。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質201の形状は、特に限定されない。ハロゲン化物固体電解質201の形状は、例えば、針状、球状、楕円球状などであってもよい。例えば、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201の形状は、粒子状であってもよい。
固体電解質層102は、固体電解質を含む層である。固体電解質層102に含まれる固体電解質として、リチウムイオン伝導性を有する固体電解質、ナトリウムイオン伝導性を有する固体電解質、およびマグネシウムイオン伝導性を有する固体電解質などの公知の材料が用いられうる。
固体電解質層102は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有する固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。
固体電解質層102に含まれる固体電解質として、例えば、硫化物固体電解質、ハロゲン化物固体電解質、および酸化物固体電解質が用いられうる。
硫化物固体電解質として、上記で説明した硫化物固体電解質202が用いられうる。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質として、上記で説明したハロゲン化物固体電解質201が用いられうる。
酸化物固体電解質としては、例えば、LiTi2(PO4)3およびその元素置換体を代表とするNASICON型固体電解質、(LaLi)TiO3系のペロブスカイト型固体電解質、Li14ZnGe4O16、Li4SiO4、LiGeO4およびその元素置換体を代表とするLISICON型固体電解質、Li7La3Zr2O12およびその元素置換体を代表とするガーネット型固体電解質、Li3NおよびそのH置換体、Li3PO4およびそのN置換体、LiBO2、Li3BO3などのLi-B-O化合物を含むベース材料にLi2SO4、Li2CO3などの材料が添加されたガラスまたはガラスセラミックスなどが挙げられる。
固体電解質層102の厚みは、5μm以上かつ150μm以下であってもよい。固体電解質層102の厚みが5μm以上の場合、正極活物質層101と負極活物質層103とが短絡しにくくなる。固体電解質層102の厚みが150μm以下の場合、電池10が高出力で動作しうる。
正極活物質層101は、正極活物質を含む層である。正極活物質層101は、固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。固体電解質としては、固体電解質層102について説明した固体電解質が用いられうる。
正極活物質としては、リチウムイオン、ナトリウムイオンまたはマグネシウムイオンを吸蔵および放出する特性を有する材料が用いられうる。
正極活物質が、リチウムイオンを吸蔵および放出する特性を有する材料である場合、正極活物質として、例えば、コバルト酸リチウム複合酸化物(LCO)、ニッケル酸リチウム複合酸化物(LNO)、マンガン酸リチウム複合酸化物(LMO)、リチウム‐マンガン‐ニッケル複合酸化物(LMNO)、リチウム-マンガン-コバルト複合酸化物(LMCO)、リチウム-ニッケル-コバルト複合酸化物(LNCO)、およびリチウム-ニッケル-マンガン-コバルト複合酸化物(LNMCO)などが用いられる。
正極活物質の形状は、特に限定されない。正極活物質の形状は、例えば、針状、球状、楕円球状などであってもよい。例えば、正極活物質の形状は、粒子状であってもよい。
正極活物質層101の厚みは、5μm以上かつ150μm以下であってもよい。正極活物質層101の厚みが5μm以上の場合、十分な電池10のエネルギー密度を確保しうる。正極活物質層101の厚みが150μm以下の場合、電池10が高出力で動作しうる。
負極活物質層103は、負極活物質を含む層である。負極活物質層103は、固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。固体電解質としては、固体電解質層102について説明した固体電解質が用いられうる。
負極活物質としては、リチウムイオン、ナトリウムイオンまたはマグネシウムイオンを吸蔵および放出する特性を有する材料が用いられうる。
負極活物質が、リチウムイオンを吸蔵および放出する特性を有する材料である場合、負極活物質として、例えば、金属材料、炭素材料、および酸化物、窒化物、錫化合物、珪素化合物などが使用されうる。金属材料は、単体の金属であってもよい。金属材料は、合金であってもよい。金属材料の例として、リチウム金属、およびリチウム合金などが挙げられる。炭素材料の例として、天然黒鉛、人造黒鉛、黒鉛炭素繊維、および樹脂焼成炭素などが挙げられる。酸化物の例として、リチウムと遷移金属元素との酸化物などが挙げられる。
負極活物質の形状は、特に限定されない。負極活物質の形状は、例えば、針状、球状、楕円球状などであってもよい。例えば、負極活物質の形状は、粒子状であってもよい。
負極活物質層103の厚みは、5μm以上かつ150μm以下であってもよい。負極活物質層103の厚みが5μm以上の場合、十分な電池10のエネルギー密度を確保しうる。負極活物質層103の厚みが150μm以下の場合、電池10が高出力で動作しうる。
電池10は、典型的には、電解液を含まない固体電池である。
正極活物質層101、固体電解質層102、および負極活物質層103からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つには、粒子同士の密着性を向上する目的で、結着剤が含まれてもよい。結着剤としては、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、アラミド樹脂、ポリアミド、ポリイミド、ポリアミドイミド、ポリアクリルニトリル、ポリアクリル酸、ポリアクリル酸メチルエステル、ポリアクリル酸エチルエステル、ポリアクリル酸ヘキシルエステル、ポリメタクリル酸、ポリメタクリル酸メチルエステル、ポリメタクリル酸エチルエステル、ポリメタクリル酸ヘキシルエステル、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリエーテル、ポリエーテルサルフォン、ヘキサフルオロポリプロピレン、スチレンブタジエンゴム、カルボキシメチルセルロースなどが挙げられる。また、テトラフルオロエチレン、ヘキサフルオロエチレン、ヘキサフルオロプロピレン、パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル、フッ化ビニリデン、クロロトリフルオロエチレン、エチレン、プロピレン、ペンタフルオロプロピレン、フルオロメチルビニルエーテル、アクリル酸、およびヘキサジエンからなる群より選ばれる2つ以上の材料の共重合体も結着剤として用いられうる。また、上記の材料から選ばれる2つ以上の混合物を結着剤として使用してもよい。
正極活物質層101、固体電解質層102、および負極活物質層103からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つは、電子伝導度を向上させる目的で、導電助剤を含んでもよい。導電助剤としては、例えば、アセチレンブラック、カーボンブラック、グラファイト、またはカーボンファイバーなどの導電材料が用いられる。
実施の形態1における電池10の形状は、例えば、コイン型、円筒型、角型、シート型、ボタン型、扁平型、および積層型などが挙げられる。
<電池の製造方法>
本実施の形態に係る電池10は、例えば、下記の方法によって製造されうる。下記の方法は、固体電解質層102が、臭気物質として硫化物固体電解質202を含む場合の例である。

正極活物質を含む正極材料、負極活物質を含む負極材料、および、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202を含む固体電解質材料を準備する。固体電解質材料において、ハロゲン化物固体電解質201および硫化物固体電解質202はあらかじめ混合されていてもよい。
正極材料、固体電解質材料、および負極材料をこの順に積層させて、加圧成形する。これにより、正極活物質層101、固体電解質層102、および負極活物質層103をこの順に備えた電池10が得られる。電池10は、負極材料、固体電解質材料、および正極材料をこの順に積層させて加圧成形することによっても得られる。

図2は、実施の形態2における固体電池20の概略構成を示す断面図である。本開示において、「固体電池」とは、固体電解質を用いた電池を意味する。固体電池は、典型的には、電解液を含まない全固体電池である。
実施の形態2における固体電池20は、内部空間41を有する外装体40と、内部空間41に配置された発電要素30と、内部空間41において、発電要素30の外部に配置された臭気物質401と、を備える。
以上の構成によれば、臭気物質401によって、例えば、発電要素30からの電解質等の漏れを早期に検知できる。漏れが検知された場合、固体電池20の充電または放電を速やかに停止させるとともに、不具合が発生したことを外部に報知することができる。これにより、固体電池20の安全性を向上させることができる。
発電要素30は、正極活物質層301と、負極活物質層303と、正極活物質層301および負極活物質層303の間に位置する固体電解質層302とを備えている。
固体電池20は、発電要素30の上部に配置された第1集電体501、および発電要素30の下部に配置された第2集電体502をさらに備えている。第1集電体501は正極集電体であり、正極活物質層301の上部に配置されている。第2集電体502は負極集電体であり、負極活物質層303の下部に配置されている。
本実施の形態では、臭気物質401は、第1集電体501の上部に配置されている。このように、臭気物質401は、第1集電体501の上部に配置されていてもよい。以上の構成によれば、臭気物質401が固体電池20の特性に悪影響を及ぼしにくい。
臭気物質401は固体であってもよい。以上の構成によれば、臭気物質401が発電要素30に染み込んだりしにくいので、臭気物質401が固体電池20の特性に悪影響を及ぼしにくい。
臭気物質401は、第1集電体501の上部において、薄膜の形状を有している。薄膜の形状の臭気物質401は、例えば、第1集電体501の上面の全部を覆っている。このような構造によれば、臭気物質401の量を最小限にとどめて、固体電池20の厚さの増加を回避しやすい。ただし、臭気物質401は、第1集電体501の上面の一部のみを覆っていてもよい。
本実施の形態では、第1集電体501および第2集電体502は、それぞれ、正極集電体および負極集電体である。つまり、正極集電体上に臭気物質401が設けられている。ただし、負極集電体の上部に臭気物質401が設けられていてもよい。臭気物質401は、第1集電体501の上部にのみ設けられていてもよく、第2集電体502の上部にのみ設けられていてもよく、第1集電体501の上部と第2集電体502の上部とに設けられていてもよい。
あるいは、臭気物質401は、発電要素30の側面(集電体に接していない面)に接するように設けられていてもよい。この場合、臭気物質401に起因する固体電池20の厚みの増加を避けることができる。
臭気物質401は硫化物固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。硫化物固体電解質には、固体電池の出力特性を向上させる働きがある。そのため、以上の構成によれば、臭気物質401を添加することによる固体電池20の性能の低下が抑制される。したがって、固体電池20の性能を維持しつつ、固体電池20の安全性を向上させることができる。
硫化物固体電解質として、実施の形態1で説明した硫化物固体電解質202が用いられうる。
臭気物質401は硫化物固体電解質のみを含んでいてもよい。「硫化物固体電解質のみを含む」とは、不可避不純物を除き、臭気物質401に硫化物固体電解質以外の材料が意図的に添加されていないことを意味する。例えば、硫化物固体電解質の原料、硫化物固体電解質を作製する際に生じる副生成物などは、不可避不純物に含まれる。
臭気物質401が硫化物固体電解質を含んでいる場合、発電要素30の質量に対する硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は、25%以下であってもよく、5%以下であってもよく、1%以下であってもよく、0.1%以下であってもよく、0.01%以下であってもよい。
臭気物質401は、硫化物固体電解質以外の材料であってもよい。硫化物固体電解質以外の臭気物質401として、実施の形態1で説明した材料が用いられうる。
臭気物質401は硫化物固体電解質以外の材料のみを含んでいてもよい。「硫化物固体電解質以外の材料のみを含む」とは、不可避不純物を除き、臭気物質401に硫化物固体電解質以外の材料以外の材料が意図的に添加されていないことを意味する。
臭気物質401が硫化物固体電解質以外の材料を含んでいる場合、発電要素30の質量に対する硫化物固体電解質以外の材料の質量の比率は、1%以下である。
第1集電体501および第2集電体502は、金属などの導電材料で作られている。金属としては、銅、アルミニウム、ニッケル、鉄、白金、金、これらの合金などが挙げられる。第1集電体501および第2集電体502は、箔、板状体、網目状体などの形状を有していてもよい。第1集電体501および第2集電体502の厚みは、例えば、5μm以上かつ100μm以下である。
発電要素30は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。以上の構成によれば、固体電池20の安全性をさらに向上させることができる。
正極活物質層301、負極活物質層303および固体電解質層302からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層が、ハロゲン化物固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。ハロゲン化物固体電解質として、実施の形態1で説明したハロゲン化物固体電解質201が用いられうる。
固体電解質層302は、固体電解質を含む層である。固体電解質層302に含まれる固体電解質として、実施の形態1の固体電解質層102において説明した固体電解質が用いられうる。
正極活物質層301は、正極活物質を含む層である。正極活物質として、実施の形態1の正極活物質層101において説明した正極活物質が用いられうる。正極活物質層301は、固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。固体電解質として、実施の形態1の固体電解質層102において説明した固体電解質が用いられうる。
負極活物質層303は、負極活物質を含む層である。負極活物質として、実施の形態1の負極活物質層103において説明した負極活物質が用いられうる。負極活物質層303は、固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。固体電解質として、実施の形態1の固体電解質層102において説明した固体電解質が用いられうる。
正極活物質層301、負極活物質層303および固体電解質層302の各層の厚さは、実施の形態1の正極活物質層101、負極活物質層103および固体電解質層102において説明した通りである。
正極活物質層301、固体電解質層302、および負極活物質層303からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つには、粒子同士の密着性を向上する目的で、結着剤が含まれてもよい。結着剤として、実施の形態1で説明した結着剤が用いられうる。
正極活物質層301、固体電解質層302、および負極活物質層303からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つは、電子伝導度を向上させる目的で、導電助剤を含んでもよい。導電助剤として、実施の形態1で説明した導電助剤が用いられうる。
外装体40は、発電要素30を内部空間41に配置可能な中空の容器である。本実施の形態では、外装体40は、略直方体状である。外装体40は、金属材料によって形成されてもよいし、樹脂材料によって形成されてもよい。外装体40は、典型的には、2層の樹脂フィルムと、それら樹脂フィルムの間に配置された金属箔とを積層することによって得られた積層体で作られていてもよい。積層体は、典型的には、アルミラミネートフィルムでありうる。
実施の形態2における固体電池20の形状は、例えば、コイン型、円筒型、角型、シート型、ボタン型、扁平型、および積層型などが挙げられる。
<固体電池の製造方法>
本実施の形態に係る固体電池20は、例えば、下記の方法によって製造されうる。
本実施の形態に係る固体電池20は、例えば、下記の方法によって製造されうる。
正極活物質を含む正極材料、負極活物質を含む負極材料、固体電解質材料、正極集電体としての第1集電体501、および、負極集電体としての第2集電体502を準備する。
第1集電体501の上に、正極材料、固体電解質材料、負極材料、および第2集電体502をこの順に積層させて、加圧成形する。これにより、正極活物質層301、固体電解質層302、および負極活物質層303をこの順に備えた発電要素30を含む積層体が得られる。このような積層体は、第2集電体502の上に、負極材料、固体電解質材料、正極材料、および第1集電体501をこの順に積層させて、加圧成形することによっても得られる。
第1集電体501よりも第2集電体502が下方になるように、得られた積層体を外装体40の内部空間41に配置する。積層体の上部、すなわち第1集電体501の上部に臭気物質401を配置する。これにより、固体電池20が得られる。
本開示の電池および固体電池は、例えば、全固体リチウム二次電池などとして利用されうる。

Claims (14)
- 正極活物質層と、負極活物質層と、前記正極活物質層および前記負極活物質層の間に位置する固体電解質層とを備え、
下記要件(i)または(ii)を満たす、電池。
(i)前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質と硫化物固体電解質とを含み、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は25%以下である。
(ii)前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つの層は、ハロゲン化物固体電解質と臭気物質とを含み、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記臭気物質の質量の比率は1%以下である。 - 前記要件(i)において、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は5%以下である、
請求項1に記載の電池。 - 前記要件(i)において、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は1%以下である、
請求項2に記載の電池。 - 前記要件(i)において、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は0.1%以下である、
請求項2に記載の電池。 - 前記要件(i)において、
前記正極活物質層、前記負極活物質層および前記固体電解質層の合計質量に対する前記硫化物固体電解質の質量の比率は0.01%以下である、
請求項2に記載の電池。 - 前記要件(i)において、
前記硫化物固体電解質は、Li2S-P2S5、Li2S-SiS2、Li2S-B2S3、Li2S-GeS2、Li3.25Ge0.25P0.75S4、およびLi10GeP2S12からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つを含む、
請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の電池。 - 前記要件(ii)において、
前記臭気物質は、リチウムイオン伝導性を有さない物質である、
請求項1に記載の電池。 - 前記ハロゲン化物固体電解質は、Liと、Li以外の金属元素および半金属元素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つと、F、Cl、BrおよびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つと、を含む、
請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の電池。 - 前記ハロゲン化物固体電解質は、下記の組成式(1)により表され、
LαMβXγ ・・・式(1)
α、βおよびγは、それぞれ、0より大きい値であり、
Mは、Li以外の金属元素および半金属元素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つであり、
Xは、F、Cl、BrおよびIからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つである、
請求項8に記載の電池。 - 前記組成式(1)において、
Mは、イットリウムを含む、
請求項9に記載の電池。 - 内部空間を有する外装体と、
前記内部空間に配置された発電要素と、
前記内部空間において、前記発電要素の外部に配置された臭気物質と、
