Abstract
Description
水素ガスを発生する電解装置及び電解方法の一例として、特許文献1に記載されるアルカリ水電解装置及びアルカリ水電解方法がある。特許文献1の電解装置及び電解方法では、陽極室及び陰極室で生成する気液混合流体よりなる陽極液及び陰極液を共通の循環タンクに回収し、該循環タンク内において混合した後、陽極室と陰極室との両電解室に循環供給する。循環タンクで陽極液及び陰極液を混合することにより、両電解室内に供給する電解液の濃度を同じ濃度にするとともに、常に一定濃度に維持しながら連続電解を行っている。
また、食塩電解においては、陽極液と陰極液は、循環せずに使用される場合と、循環使用される場合とがあるが、いずれの場合においても、陰極室においては、電解液はアルカリ性となり、陰極室で生成される水素ガスには、アルカリ性ミスト等の不純物が含有されるとともに、陽極室においては、電解液は酸性となり、陽極室で生成される酸素ガスには、酸ミスト等の不純物が含有される。
電解液から分離された水素ガスや酸素ガスは、水洗塔により洗浄されて、アルカリ性ミスト、酸ミスト等の不純物が除去されていた。しかしながら、水洗塔とライン中のミストセパレータなどの簡単な設備では、アルカリ性ミスト等の不純物を十分に除去することができなかった。このため、圧縮機の部品にアルミニウムを使用した場合、アルカリ性ミストによってアルミニウムが腐食されるという問題があった。また、ガスに含まれるパーティクルが圧縮機の運転に影響を与えていた。
また、生成ガス中のアルカリ性ミスト、酸性ミストの除去が不十分であると、環境基準を超えるアルカリや酸が大気放出される恐れがあった。

陽極側においても同様に、設置面積が小さく安価な設備によって、陽極ガス中に含まれる不純物を除去することができる。例えば、電解により発生した酸素ガスを大気中に放出する場合でも、環境中へのアルカリ性ミストや、酸性ミスト、パーティクルの放出を抑制することができる。更に、簡易な設備にて陽極ガスを昇圧することも可能である。
また、本発明によれば、従来の大型圧縮機を用いる必要がないため、設備容積を削減することができる。又、振動、騒音、長期運転時の機械的損傷がなく、長期にわたって安定して稼働することが可能となり、装置のメンテナンス費が大幅に低減される。
図1は、本発明の第1実施形態に係る電解装置の1例を示すフロー図である。ここではアルカリ水電解装置を例に挙げて説明する。但し本発明は、アルカリ水電解のほか、非精製水の電解、食塩電解、塩化物水溶液、臭化物水溶液、塩酸、硫酸水溶液電解等、電解により水素ガスが発生する電解装置にも適用可能である。
図1において、アルカリ水電解装置は電解槽1を有する。2は陰極を収容する陰極室、3は陽極を収容する陽極室、4は陰極室2と陽極室3とを区画する隔膜である。隔膜4は、陽イオン交換膜、陰イオン交換膜、高分子多孔層と不織布からなる複合膜などである。
陰極側電解液供給ライン7は、陰極室2と循環タンク5とを接続し、循環ポンプ8により、循環タンク5内に収納された電解液6を陰極室2に供給する配管である。陰極側電解液排出ライン9は、陰極室2と陰極側気液分離手段10とを接続し、陰極室2内の電解液(陰極側電解液)と水素ガスとを陰極側気液分離手段10に搬送する配管である。陰極側気液分離手段10は、電解液から水素ガスを分離する。陰極側電解液回収ライン11は、陰極側気液分離手段10と循環タンク5とを接続し、陰極側気液分離手段10により分離された電解液を循環タンク5に搬送する配管である。水素ガス排出ライン12は、陰極側気液分離手段10と後述する気体圧縮手段101とを接続し、陰極側気液分離手段10により分離された水素ガスを気体圧縮手段101に搬送する配管である。陰極側電解液供給ライン7に熱交換器13が設置される。
陽極側電解液供給ライン14は、陽極室3と循環タンク5とを接続し、循環ポンプ15により、循環タンク5内に収納された電解液6を陽極室3に供給する配管である。陽極側電解液排出ライン16は、陽極室3と陽極側気液分離手段17とを接続し、陽極室3内の電解液(陽極側電解液)と陽極ガス(アルカリ水電解の場合は酸素ガス)とを陽極側気液分離手段17に搬送する配管である。陽極側気液分離手段17は、電解液から陽極ガスを分離する。陽極側電解液回収ライン18は、陽極側気液分離手段17と循環タンク5とを接続し、陽極側気液分離手段17により分離された電解液を循環タンク5に搬送する配管である。陽極ガス排出ライン19は、陽極側気液分離手段17に接続し、陽極側気液分離手段17により分離された陽極ガスを系外に排出する配管である。陽極側電解液供給ライン14に熱交換器20が設置される。
電解開始前及び初期において、電解液補充手段はポンプ23によりアルカリ水22をアルカリ水タンク21から循環タンク5に供給する。水補充手段は、ポンプ26により純水25を純水タンク24から循環タンク5に供給する。アルカリ水及び純水が循環タンク5内で混合され、電解液6は所定の濃度に制御されている。循環タンク5内には、純水25と共に、新たな電解用の原料水を添加することもできる。
該充填塔は、陰極側エジェクタ110の外部に設けることが好ましいが、陰極側エジェクタ110のディフューザ112の出口112aの内部に設けてもよく、或いは、充填塔の代わりに、その内部に充填されている充填物のみをディフューザ112の出口112aの内部に設けてもよい。
陰極側循環用液体の流速を上げるほど、陰極側エジェクタ110の吸引力が増加する。この結果、気体圧縮手段101に流入する水素ガス量が増加し、水素ガスの圧力が上昇する。本発明では、水素ガスを最大で1MPa(10bar)まで加圧する。例えば、陰極側循環用液体の循環速度を150m3/hに上げることにより、陰極側貯留タンク103内に貯留される水素ガスは、0.6MPa(6bar)~1MPa(10bar)に加圧される。
この現象の中、高圧を達成する為、更に水素ガス内の不純物であるアルカリ性ミストは、循環用液体である水にぶつかり、循環用液体である水に溶解する確率が増大する。
本発明の気体圧縮手段101では大型の圧縮機を用いる必要がないため、設置面積を大幅に削減できる。また、圧縮機の冷却補機などの設置が不要である。本発明による陰極側エジェクタ110には駆動部がないため、振動、騒音、長期運転時の機械的損傷がなく、長期にわたって安定して使用することができる。この結果、装置のメンテナンス費が大幅に低減される。
陰極側循環用液体は循環用液体取出しパイプ120を経由して系外に排出されても良い。あるいは、陰極側循環用液体は、陰極側循環用液体取出しパイプ120を経由して陰極側での電解液の搬送経路及び陽極側での電解液の搬送経路のいずれかの場所において電解液に添加し、電解液として利用することもできる。例えば図1に示すアルカリ水電解装置では、気体圧縮手段101から排出された陰極側循環用液体は、陰極側循環用液体取出しパイプ120を経由して循環タンク5に供給されて電解液と混合する。
図3は、本発明の第2の実施形態に係る電解装置の1例であり、電解装置の一部である不純物除去手段を示したフロー図である。本実施形態においても、アルカリ水電解装置を例に挙げて説明する。
更に、陽極側エジェクタ210においても、陽極側エジェクタ210と陽極側貯留タンク203との間に、内部に充填物を充填した充填塔(図示せず)を設けると、陽極ガスと陽極側循環液体との気液接触面積が大きくなり、陽極ガスと陽極側循環液体とが充填塔を通過する際に両者の衝突も激しくなるため、陽極ガスから不純物が除去される割合も大きくなる。
該充填塔は、陽極側エジェクタ210の外部に設けることが好ましいが、陽極側エジェクタ210のディフューザの出口の内部に設けてもよく、或いは、充填塔の代わりに、その内部に充填されている充填物のみをディフューザの出口の内部に設けてもよい。
不純物除去手段201において、陽極側循環ポンプ204が作動することにより、循環用液体が陽極側混合流体搬送パイプ202及び陽極側循環パイプ205を介して循環している。陽極側エジェクタ210内で、循環用液体がノズル211からディフューザに向かって流れることにより、陽極ガス排出ライン19を流通する陽極ガス(酸素ガス)が陽極側エジェクタ210内に引き込まれる。陽極側エジェクタ210内で循環用液体と陽極ガスとが激しく混合し、混合流体が陽極側エジェクタ210から排出される。
陽極ガスを昇圧する場合には、陽極側貯留タンク203から陽極側エジェクタ210への陽極側循環用液体の循環速度(流速)とを制御することにより、陽極側貯留タンク203内に貯留される陽極ガスが昇圧される。例えば、運転開始時にバルブV3を閉として不純物除去手段201内を閉ループとする。この状態で陽極側循環用液体の流速を上げると、陽極ガスは加圧状態で陽極側貯留タンク203内に貯留される。陽極ガスが所定の圧力まで上昇したところで、バルブV3を開放し、定常運転とする。
陽極側循環用液体の流速を上げるほど、陽極ガスの圧力が上昇する。例えば陽極側循環用液体の循環速度を150m3/h以下とすることにより、電解により生成する陽極ガスは、0.6MPa(6bar)以下の低圧とすることができる。一方、陽極側循環用液体の循環速度を150m3/h以上とすることにより、電解により生成する陽極ガスを、0.6MPa(6bar)~1MPa(10bar)に加圧することができる。すなわち、本実施形態の不純物除去手段201は、気体圧縮手段101と同じ効果を奏することができる。
また、陰極側電解液循環手段及び陽極側電解液循環手段のいずれか一方のみが設置される場合もある。例えば、陰極側は陰極側電解液循環手段を設けて陰極室2へ電解液が循環される構成とする一方で、陽極側は陽極側電解液回収ラインから電解液を陽極室3へ循環せずに装置外に排出する構成とすることもできる。
また、アルカリ水電解と同様に、陰極側電解液循環手段及び陽極側電解液循環手段のいずれか一方のみが設置される場合もある。例えば、陰極側は陰極側電解液循環手段を設けて電解液が循環される構成とする一方で、陽極側は陽極側電解液回収ラインから装置外に排出する構成とすることもできる。

Claims (9)
- 陽極を収容する陽極室と、陰極を収容する陰極室と、前記陽極室と前記陰極室とを区画する隔膜と、を備える電解槽と、
前記陰極室に接続し、水素ガスを含む陰極側電解液を前記陰極室から排出する陰極側電解液排出ラインと、
前記陰極側電解液排出ラインに接続し、前記陰極側電解液から前記水素ガスを分離する陰極側気液分離手段と、
前記陰極側気液分離手段に接続し、前記陰極側気液分離手段により分離された前記水素ガスを前記陰極側気液分離手段から排出する水素ガス排出ラインと、
前記水素ガス排出ラインに接続する気体圧縮手段と、
を備え、
前記気体圧縮手段は、
前記水素ガス排出ラインに接続する陰極側エジェクタと、
前記水素ガスと前記気体圧縮手段内を流通する陰極側循環用液体とを貯留する陰極側貯留タンクと、
前記陰極側エジェクタと前記陰極側貯留タンクとを連結し、前記陰極側エジェクタから前記陰極側貯留タンクに前記陰極側循環用液体と前記水素ガスとの混合流体を搬送する陰極側混合流体搬送パイプと、
前記陰極側貯留タンクと前記陰極側エジェクタとを連結し、前記陰極側貯留タンクから前記陰極側エジェクタに前記陰極側循環用液体を搬送する陰極側循環パイプと、
前記陰極側循環パイプに設置される陰極側循環ポンプと、
前記陰極側貯留タンクに接続し、前記陰極側貯留タンクから前記水素ガスを排出する水素ガス排出パイプと、
前記水素ガス排出パイプに設けられる第1のバルブと、
を有し、
前記陰極側循環ポンプ、前記陰極側混合流体搬送パイプ及び前記陰極側循環パイプにより、前記陰極側循環用液体を前記陰極側貯留タンクから前記陰極側エジェクタに循環させることにより前記水素ガスを前記水素ガス排出ラインから前記陰極側エジェクタ内に流入させ、前記陰極側エジェクタ内で前記水素ガスと前記陰極側循環用液体とを混合させて、前記水素ガス中の不純物を前記陰極側循環用液体に移行させて前記水素ガスから前記不純物を除去するとともに、
前記陰極側貯留タンクから前記陰極側エジェクタへ循環させる前記陰極側循環用液体の流速と、前記第1のバルブの開閉とを制御することにより、前記陰極側貯留タンク内に貯留される前記水素ガスの圧力を昇圧することを特徴とする電解装置。 - 前記陽極室に接続し、陽極ガスを含む陽極側電解液を前記陽極室から排出する陽極側電解液排出ラインと、
前記陽極側電解液排出ラインに接続し、前記陽極側電解液から陽極ガスを分離する陽極側気液分離手段と、
前記陽極側気液分離手段に接続し、前記陽極側気液分離手段により分離された前記陽極ガスを前記陽極側気液分離手段から排出する陽極ガス排出ラインと、
前記陽極ガス排出ラインに接続する不純物除去手段と、
を備え、
前記不純物除去手段は、
前記陽極ガス排出ラインに接続する陽極側エジェクタと、
前記陽極ガスと前記不純物除去手段内を流通する陽極側循環用液体とを貯留する陽極側貯留タンクと、
前記陽極側エジェクタと前記陽極側貯留タンクとを連結し、前記陽極側エジェクタから前記陽極側貯留タンクに前記陽極側循環用液体と前記陽極ガスとの混合流体を搬送する陽極側混合流体搬送パイプと、
前記陽極側貯留タンクと前記陽極側エジェクタとを連結し、前記陽極側貯留タンクから前記陽極側エジェクタに前記陽極側循環用液体を搬送する陽極側循環パイプと、
前記陽極側循環パイプに設置される陽極側循環ポンプと、を有し、
前記陽極側循環ポンプ、前記陽極側混合流体搬送パイプ及び前記陽極側循環パイプにより、前記陽極側循環用液体を前記陽極側貯留タンクから前記陽極側エジェクタに循環させることにより前記陽極ガスを前記陽極ガス排出ラインから前記陽極側エジェクタ内に流入させ、前記陽極側エジェクタ内で前記陽極ガスと前記陽極側循環用液体とを混合させて、前記陽極ガス中の不純物を前記陽極側循環用液体に移行させて前記陽極ガス中の前記不純物を除去する請求項1に記載の電解装置。 - 前記不純物除去手段が、
前記陽極側貯留タンクに接続し、前記陽極側貯留タンクから前記陽極ガスを排出する陽極ガス排出パイプと、
前記陽極ガス排出パイプに設けられる第2のバルブと、
を更に備え、
前記陽極側貯留タンクから前記陽極側エジェクタへ循環させる前記陽極側循環用液体の流速と、前記第2のバルブの開閉とを制御することにより、前記陽極側貯留タンク内に貯留される前記陽極ガスの圧力を昇圧する請求項2に記載の電解装置。 - 前記陰極側電解液がアルカリ性水溶液であり、前記水素ガス中の前記不純物がアルカリ性ミストを含む請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の電解装置。
- 前記陽極側電解液がアルカリ性水溶液であり、前記陽極ガス中の前記不純物がアルカリ性ミストを含む請求項2又は3に記載の電解装置。
- 前記陽極側電解液が塩化物水溶液であり、前記陽極ガス中の前記不純物が酸性ミストを含む請求項2又は3に記載の電解装置。
- 前記陽極側電解液が塩酸であり、前記陽極ガス中の前記不純物が酸性ミストを含む請求項2又は3に記載の電解装置。
- 前記陽極側電解液が臭素酸水溶液であり、前記陽極ガス中の前記不純物が酸性ミストを含む請求項2又は3に記載の電解装置。
- 前記陽極側電解液が硫酸水溶液であり、前記陽極ガス中の前記不純物が酸性ミストを含む請求項2又は3に記載の電解装置。
