上記の中で(8)の構成が好ましく用いられるが、これらに限定されるものではない。
有機EL素子1は、透明な基板2と、陽極3と、陰極4と、陽極3と陰極4との間に配置された有機薄膜層10と、を有する。
有機薄膜層10は、上述の発光層5を有するが、発光層5と陽極3との間に正孔注入・輸送層6等、発光層5と陰極4との間に電子注入・輸送層7等を備えていてもよい。
また、発光層5の陽極3側に電子障壁層を、発光層5の陰極4側に正孔障壁層を、それぞれ設けてもよい。
これにより、電子や正孔を発光層5に閉じ込めて、発光層5における励起子の生成確率を高めることができる。
一晩静置後、析出した固体を、セライトろ過し、ヘキサンで洗浄した。得られた残渣を、カラムクロマトグラフィー(トルエン100%)を用いて精製し、ヘキサンで洗浄することで白色固体4.42g(収率45%)を得た。
化合物2の分子量は374.43であり、得られた白色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e(質量と電荷の比)=374であったことから、白色固体が化合物2であることを確認した。
一晩静置した反応溶液を、氷水に加え、沈殿した固体をろ取した。得られた固体をカラムクロマトグラフィー(酢酸エチル100%)で精製し、褐色固体3.45g(収率93%)を得た。
化合物3の分子量は318.32であり、得られた褐色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=318であったことから、褐色固体が化合物3であることを確認した。
一晩静置後、沈殿した固体を、ろ過し、メタノールで洗浄した。得られた固体を、テトラヒドロフランを用いて抽出することで、褐色固体1.74g(収率60%)を得た。
化合物4の分子量は300.31であり、得られた褐色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=300であったことから、褐色固体が化合物4であることを確認した。
得られた反応溶液に水を加え、減圧濃縮により塩化メチレンを除去し、固体を沈殿させた。沈殿した固体をろ取し、メタノールで洗浄して白色固体2.6g(収率86%)を得た。
化合物5の分子量が566.45であり、得られた白色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=566であったことから、白色固体が化合物5であることを確認した。
得られたオイルを、高速液体クロマトグラフィーを用いて精製して黄色固体9.0mg(収率16%)を得た。
化合物6の分子量が602.72であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=602であったことから、化合物6であることを確認した。
得られた化合物6を、濃度が5μmol/Lになるように、トルエンに溶解し、化合物6のトルエン溶液を調製した。
得られた化合物6のトルエン溶液について、絶対PL(フォトルミネッセンス)量子収率測定装置 Quantaurus-QY(浜松ホトニクス株式会社製)を用いて、PLQYを測定した。化合物6のPLQYの値は91%であった。
得られた化合物6のトルエン溶液を、蛍光スペクトル測定装置 分光蛍光光度計F-7000(株式会社日立ハイテクサイエンス製)を用いて測定したところ、356nmで励起した場合の蛍光ピーク波長が、420nmにて観測された。
得られた化合物6のトルエン溶液を、石英セルへ入れ、分光蛍光光度計F-7000に配置した。室温(300K)で励起光を照射し、波長を変えながら蛍光強度を測定することで、縦軸を蛍光強度とし、横軸を波長としたフォトルミネッセンススペクトルを作成した。
作成したフォトルミネッセンススペクトルにおいて、ピーク値の50%になる波長の幅から、化合物6の半値幅を求めた。半値幅は26nmであった。
下記比較例化合物1を用いて、実施例1と同様に、トルエン溶液を調製し、評価した。結果を表1に示す。
(化合物BD-2の合成)
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-フェニル-4-メチルアニリンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-2の分子量が630であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=631であったことから、化合物BD-2であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-フェニル-1,1’-ビフェニル-4-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-3の分子量が754であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=755であったことから、化合物BD-3であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-フェニルジベンゾフラン-3-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-4の分子量が782であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=783であったことから、化合物BD-4であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-フェニルジベンゾフラン-4-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-5の分子量が782であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=783であったことから、化合物BD-5であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-(4-イソプロピルフェニル)ジベンゾフラン-4-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-6の分子量が867であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=868であったことから、化合物BD-6であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-(2,4-ジメチルフェニル)-1,1’-ビフェニル-4-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-7の分子量が811であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=812であったことから、化合物BD-6であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-(4-イソプロピル)-3-メチル-1,1’-ビフェニル-4-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-8の分子量が867であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=868であったことから、化合物BD-8であることを確認した。
ジフェニルアミンの代わりにN-(2,4-ジメチルフェニル)ジベンゾフラン-3-アミンを用いたことを除いて、化合物6と同様にして合成した。
化合物BD-9の分子量が838であり、得られた黄色固体のマススペクトル分析結果が、m/e=839であったことから、化合物BD-9であることを確認した。
透明電極(陽極)として膜厚130nmのITOがついた25mm×75mm×1.1mm厚のガラス基板(ジオマティック株式会社製)について、イソプロピルアルコール中で超音波洗浄を5分間行った後、UVオゾン洗浄を30分間行った。
洗浄後の透明電極付きガラス基板を真空蒸着装置の基板ホルダーに装着し、まず透明電極が形成されている側の面上に透明電極を覆うようにして化合物HIを蒸着し、膜厚5nmの化合物HI膜を形成した。このHI膜は、正孔注入層として機能する。
HT1膜の形成に続けて化合物HT2を蒸着し、HT1膜上に膜厚10nmのHT2膜を形成した。このHT2膜は第2の正孔輸送層として機能する。
HT2膜上に、表2に示すドーパント材料(BD)とホスト(BH)の組み合わせで、ドーパント材料の割合(重量比)が2%となるように共蒸着し、膜厚25nmの発光層を形成した。
以上のようにして有機EL素子を作製した。用いた化合物を以下に示す。
得られた有機EL素子の初期特性を、室温下、DC(直流)定電流10mA/cm2駆動で測定した。電流密度が10mA/cm2となるように有機EL素子に電圧を印加し、EL発光スペクトルを分光放射輝度計CS-1000(コニカミノルタ株式会社製)にて計測した。得られた分光放射輝度スペクトルから、外部量子効率EQE(%)を算出した。結果を表2に示す。
さらに電流密度が50mA/cm2となるように有機EL素子に電圧を印加し、初期輝度に対して輝度が95%となるまでの時間を測定した寿命LT95(h)の結果を表2に示す。

R101~R110のうち隣接する2つ以上の1組以上が、飽和又は不飽和の環を形成してもよい。
R121~R127は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~50の複素環基である。
ただし、R101~R110の少なくとも1つは、-L101-Ar101で表される基である。L101は、単結合、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~30のアリーレン基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~30のヘテロアリーレン基であり、Ar101は、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成原子数5~50の複素環基である。L101が2以上存在する場合、2以上のL101は同一でもよく、異なっていてもよい。Ar101が2以上存在する場合、2以上のAr101は同一でもよく、異なっていてもよい。R121~R127が2以上存在する場合、2以上のR121~R127のそれぞれは同一でもよく、異なっていてもよい。) - R109及びR110の少なくとも1つが、前記-L101-Ar101で表される基である請求項19に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- R109及びR110が、それぞれ独立に、前記-L101-Ar101で表される基である請求項19に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記式(11)で表される化合物が、下記式(12)で表される請求項19~21のいずれかに記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
結合手*は、R72~R79のうちの1つと結合する。
L101及びAr101は、前記式(11)で定義した通りである。
R101A~R108Aは、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。
X11は、O、S、又はN(R71)である。
R71は、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。
R72~R79の1つは、L101と結合する結合手である。
L101と結合しないR72~R79のうちの隣接する2つ以上の1組以上は、置換もしくは無置換の飽和又は不飽和の環を形成してもよい。
L101と結合せず、かつ前記置換もしくは無置換の飽和又は不飽和の環を形成しないR72~R79は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。) - R76及びR77、R77及びR78、又はR78及びR79のいずれか1組が、互いに結合して、下記式(15-1)又は(15-2)で表される環を形成し、
前記式(15-1)又は(15-2)で表される環を形成しないR76~R79は、置換もしくは無置換の飽和又は不飽和の環を形成しない、請求項24又は25に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
2つの結合手*は、それぞれ、R76及びR77、R77及びR78、又はR78及びR79の1組と結合する。
R90~R93は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。
X13は、O又はSである。) - 前記式(11)で表される化合物が、下記式(12A)で表される請求項19~21に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
結合手*は、R72A~R79Aのうちの1つと結合する。
L101及びAr101は、前記式(11)で定義した通りである。
R101A~R108Aは、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。

R71は、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。
R72A~R79Aのうちの隣接する2つ以上の1組以上は、置換もしくは無置換の飽和又は不飽和の環を形成してもよく、R72A~R79Aのうちの隣接する2つは、下記式(12A-1)で表される環を形成する。
置換もしくは無置換の飽和又は不飽和の環を形成しないR72A~R79Aは、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。)
2つの結合手*のそれぞれは、R72A~R79Aのうちの隣接する2つと結合する。
R80~R83の1つは、L101と結合する結合手である。
L101と結合しないR80~R83は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1~50のアルキル基、又は置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6~50のアリール基である。) - 前記陽極と前記発光層との間に正孔輸送層を有する請求項18~28のいずれかに記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
