- the monolith type means a shape having a plurality of cells penetrating in the longitudinal direction, and is a concept including a honeycomb.
- the separation membrane structure 1 is disposed inside the casing 2.
- the separation membrane structure 1 has a porous substrate 11 and a zeolite membrane 12 as a separation membrane.
- Porous substrate 11 The porous substrate 11 is formed in a columnar shape extending in the longitudinal direction. A plurality of cells CL are formed inside the porous substrate 11. Each cell CL extends in the longitudinal direction. Each cell CL is connected to both end faces of the porous substrate 11.
- the porous substrate 11 is composed of an aggregate and a binder.
- alumina, silicon carbide, titania, mullite, inconvenience, cordierite, or the like can be used.

- the content of the binder in the substrate 11 can be 20% by volume or more and 40% by volume or less, and preferably 25% by volume or more and 35% by volume or less.
- the porosity of the porous substrate 11 is not particularly limited, but can be, for example, 25% to 50%.
- the porosity of the porous substrate 11 can be measured by a mercury intrusion method.
- the pore diameter of the porous substrate 11 is not particularly limited, but can be 0.1 ⁇ m to 50 ⁇ m.
- the pore diameter of the porous substrate 11 can be measured by a mercury intrusion method, an air flow method described in ASTM F316, or a palm porometry method according to the size of the pore diameter.
- the zeolite membrane 12 is formed on the inner surface of each cell CL.
- the zeolite membrane 12 is formed in a cylindrical shape.
- the zeolite membrane 12 allows permeation components contained in the mixed fluid to be separated.
- the mixed fluid is supplied to the inner surface side of the zeolite membrane 12 (hereinafter referred to as “primary side”), and the permeated component flows out from the outer surface side of the zeolite membrane 12 (hereinafter referred to as “secondary side”). To do.
- the inner surface of the zeolite membrane 12 is also the inner surface of the cell CL.
- the outer surface of the zeolite membrane 12 is a connection surface with the porous substrate 11. In the present embodiment, the inner surface and the outer surface of the zeolite membrane 12 are main surfaces of the zeolite membrane 12, respectively.
- the mixed fluid which is a separation target may be a mixed gas or a mixed liquid
- the mixed gas is particularly assumed as a separation target.
- the crystal structure of the zeolite constituting the zeolite membrane 12 is not particularly limited, and for example, DDR, LTA, MFI, MOR, FER, FAU, CHA, BEA, AEI and the like can be used.
- the zeolite membrane 12 is a DDR type zeolite membrane, it is particularly suitable for selectively separating carbon dioxide from natural gas, for example.
- the pore diameter of the zeolite membrane 12 may be appropriately determined based on the required filtration performance and separation performance, and may be, for example, 0.2 nm to 1 nm.
- the pore diameter of the zeolite membrane 12 is preferably 0.5 nm or less, and particularly preferably 0.4 nm or less in consideration of the selection of the inspection gas described later.
- the pore diameter of the zeolite membrane 12 is uniquely determined by the crystal structure of the zeolite constituting the zeolite membrane 12.
- the pore diameter of the zeolite membrane 12 is a value disclosed in The International Zeolite Association (IZA) “Database of Zeolite Structures” [online], Internet ⁇ URL: http://www.iza-structure.org/databases/> Can be obtained from IZA.
- IZA International Zeolite Association
- the “short diameter” is used as the pore diameter of the zeolite membrane 12.
- the reason why the “short diameter” is the pore diameter is to effectively suppress the inspection gas from passing through the pores of the zeolite membrane 12 in the gas leak inspection described later.
- the casing 2 includes a main body 20, a supply path 21, a first recovery path 22, and a second recovery path 23.
- the main body 20 accommodates the separation membrane structure 1.
- the main body 20 can be configured by a metal member (for example, stainless steel). Both end portions of the separation membrane structure 1 are assembled inside the main body portion 20 via the O-ring 3.
- the supply path 21 is a pipe for supplying the main body 20 with the mixed fluid to be separated.
- the supply path 21 can be comprised with a metal member (for example, stainless steel etc.).
- the first recovery path 22 is a pipe for discharging the remaining mixed fluid that has passed through the cell CL of the separation membrane structure 1 to the outside.
- the first recovery path 22 can be configured by a metal member (for example, stainless steel).
- the second recovery path 23 is a pipe for discharging the permeated component that has passed through the zeolite membrane 12 of the separation membrane structure 1 to the outside.
- the second recovery path 23 can be configured by a metal member (for example, stainless steel).
- Method for producing separation membrane module 10 An example of a method for producing the separation membrane module 10 will be described.
- a clay is prepared by adding and kneading an organic binder such as methylcellulose, a dispersion material, and water to an aggregate and a binder.
- a monolith type molded body is formed using the prepared clay by an extrusion molding method using a vacuum extrusion molding machine, a press molding method, or a casting molding method.
- the porous substrate 11 having a plurality of cells CL is formed by firing the monolith-shaped molded body (for example, 500 ° C. to 1500 ° C., 0.5 hour to 80 hours).
- the zeolite membrane 12 is formed on the inner surface of each cell CL of the porous substrate 11. Thereby, the separation membrane structure 1 is completed.
- a technique suitable for the crystal structure constituting the zeolite membrane 12 may be used.
- the inspection gas used for the gas leak inspection has a characteristic that it is difficult to adsorb / condense on the zeolite membrane 12, that is, a property that the pores of the zeolite membrane 12 are not easily blocked. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm in advance by the following method that the inspection gas is difficult to be adsorbed / condensed on the zeolite membrane 12.
- an O-ring 3 is attached to the separation membrane structure 1 and sealed in the casing 2a.
- the casing 2a may have the same structure as the casing 2 described above. However, the casing 2a may have a simpler structure than the casing 2 as long as the adsorbability / condensability of the inspection gas can be confirmed here.
- 0.1 MPaG of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) gas is supplied from the supply path 21 to the primary side of the zeolite membrane 12.
- the first recovery path 22 may be sealed with a sealing valve.
- the CO 2 gas permeation rate [nmol / m 2 spa] is measured based on the permeation flow rate of the CO 2 gas that has permeated the secondary side of the zeolite membrane 12.
- inspection gas a gas having a dynamic molecular diameter larger than 1.07 times the pore diameter of the zeolite membrane 12 is selected. Thereby, in the gas leak inspection mentioned later, since it can suppress that inspection gas permeate
- the dynamic molecular diameter of the inspection gas is made larger than 1.07 times the “minor axis” of the zeolite membrane 12. This is because, even if the dynamic molecular diameter of the inspection gas is smaller than the major axis of the zeolite membrane 12, it is difficult for the inspection gas to enter the pores if it is larger than 1.07 times the minor axis.
- the separation membrane structure 1 is taken out from the casing 2, and as shown in FIG. 3, the separation membrane structure 1 is allowed to stand in a test gas (25 ° C., 0.1 MPaG) for 60 minutes, thereby The membrane 12 is exposed to a test gas. For the exposure, it is sufficient that the test gas is in contact with the separation membrane 12, and a method of filling only the inside of the cell may be used.
- a test gas 25 ° C., 0.1 MPaG
- the separation membrane structure 1 is taken out from the inspection gas and reassembled to the casing 2a as shown in FIG.
- 0.1 MPaG of CO 2 gas is supplied from the supply path 21 to the primary side of the zeolite membrane 12.
- the first recovery path 22 may be sealed with a sealing valve.
- the CO 2 gas permeation rate [nmol / m 2 spa] is measured again based on the permeation flow rate of the CO 2 gas that has permeated the secondary side of the zeolite membrane 12.
- the calculated CO 2 gas permeation rate reduction rate is less than 10%, this inspection gas is difficult to be adsorbed / condensed on the zeolite membrane 12, and therefore, it is determined that it is suitable for the gas leak inspection.
- the calculated CO 2 gas permeation rate decrease rate is 10% or more, the CO 2 gas permeation rate decrease rate is calculated for other inspection gases, and it is determined again whether it is less than 10%. To do.
- the inspection gas selected in this way varies depending on the type and composition of the zeolite membrane 12. Therefore, the inspection gas should be selected according to the zeolite membrane 12 actually used, and the type of the inspection gas is not particularly limited.
- a DDR type zeolite membrane is used as the zeolite membrane 12
- at least one selected from CF 4 and SF 6 can be used as the inspection gas.
- the inspection gas has a plurality of kinds of gases. May be a mixed gas.
- the inspection gas is preferably nonflammable. Thereby, the gas leak test
- the inspection gas is preferably inert to the separation membrane structure 1 and the casing 2. Thereby, it can suppress that the zeolite membrane 12 reacts with the test gas and deteriorates, or the casing 2 reacts with the test gas and corrodes.
- O-rings 3 are attached to both ends of the separation membrane structure 1 and assembled into the casing 2 (an assembling process).
- the inspection gas selected by the above method is filled into the main body 20. Then, as shown in FIG. 5, the supply path 21 is sealed with a sealing valve 25 when the inspection gas reaches a predetermined pressure. As a result, the inspection gas is enclosed on the primary side (inner surface side) of the zeolite membrane 12 (encapsulation step).
- the predetermined pressure of the inspection gas on the primary side of the zeolite membrane 12 is not particularly limited, but it is preferably 1 MPaG or more in consideration of further improving the accuracy as a leak inspection under actual gas separation membrane use conditions, More preferably, it is 3 MPaG or more.
- the vapor pressure of the enclosed inspection gas is not particularly limited, but considering that the adsorption / condensability of the inspection gas with respect to the zeolite membrane 12 is further suppressed, a component having a vapor pressure of 100 kPa or less is used for inspection. It is preferable not to be included in the gas, and it is more preferable that the component having a vapor pressure of 60 kPa or less is not included in the inspection gas.
- the vapor pressure of the inspection gas can be controlled by adjusting the temperature of the inspection gas. As shown in FIG. 5, the second recovery path 23 is not closed, and the secondary side (outer surface side) of the zeolite membrane 12 is opened to atmospheric pressure.
- the total leak amount Ta of the inspection gas to the secondary side of the zeolite membrane 12 is acquired.
- the total leak amount Ta is the sum of the membrane defect leak amount Tb derived from the membrane defects of the zeolite membrane 12 and the seal leak amount Tc derived from the seal failure of the separation membrane structure 1.
- the total leak amount Ta is preferably calculated based on the pressure change (pressure drop width) of the inspection gas on the primary side of the zeolite membrane 12. As a result, the total leak amount Ta can be obtained with higher accuracy than when using an air flow meter, for example.
- gas leakage in the separation membrane module 10 is evaluated based on the total leakage amount Ta of the inspection gas (evaluation process).
- the gas leak in the separation membrane module 10 is evaluated by checking whether or not the seal leak amount Tc obtained by subtracting the membrane defect leak amount Tb from the total leak amount Ta is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold value. If the seal leak amount Tc is equal to or smaller than a predetermined threshold value, it is determined that the sealing performance of the joint portion between the separation membrane structure 1 and the casing 2 is good. If the seal leak amount Tc is larger than the predetermined threshold value, the separation membrane structure body is determined. It is determined that the seal at the joint between 1 and the casing 2 is defective.
- an O-ring 3 is attached to the separation membrane structure 1 and sealed in the casing 2b.
- the casing 2b may have the same structure as the casing 2 described above, but may be a simpler structure than the casing 2 because it is only necessary to confirm the degree of film defects in the zeolite membrane 12 here.
- the film defect leak rate Q1 [nmol / m 2 spa] is calculated based on the film defect leak flow rate of the inspection gas leaking to the secondary side through the film defects of the zeolite film 12.
- the pressure PH1 is preferably smaller than a predetermined pressure applied to the inspection gas during the gas leak inspection. This is because if the pressure PH1 is too large, a seal leak occurs and it is impossible to detect only a film defect leak.
- the inspection gas is sealed again on the primary side of the zeolite membrane 12.
- the pressure on the primary side is PH2, and the pressure on the secondary side is PL2.
- the pressure PH2 needs to be different from the pressure PH1, but the pressure PL2 may be the same as the pressure PL1.
- the film defect leak rate Q2 [nmol / m 2 spa] is calculated based on the film defect leak flow rate of the inspection gas that passes through the film defects of the zeolite film 12 to the secondary side.
- the film defect leak amount calculation formula is represented by the following formula 1.
- Tb A ⁇ (PH + PL) + B
- Tb is a leak amount derived from a film defect of the zeolite membrane 12
- A is a slope of the straight line L
- B is a y-intercept of the straight line L.
- the film defect leak amount calculation formula is obtained from two points, point M and point N. However, as the number of plots increases, an accurate film defect leak amount calculation formula can be obtained. When the number of plots is three or more, the straight line L is obtained by linear approximation using the least square method.
- the film defect leak amount Tb at the time of gas leak inspection is calculated.
- the seal leak amount Tc can be calculated by subtracting the film defect leak amount Tb from the total leak amount Ta.
- the inspection gas is recovered from the first recovery path 22 (recovery step).
- the inspection gas is preferably recovered using a recovery tank in which the same kind of gas as the inspection gas is enclosed. As a result, the collected inspection gas can be easily reused.
- the separation membrane module 10 is completed through the assembly process, the encapsulation process, the evaluation process, and the recovery process described above.
- Example No. 1 Preparation of separation membrane structure First, 30% by volume of an inorganic binder is added to 70% by volume of alumina particles (aggregate) having an average particle size of 12 ⁇ m, and further a molding aid such as an organic binder and a pore-forming agent are added. After dry mixing, water and a surfactant were added and mixed and kneaded to prepare a clay.

- water and a surfactant were added and mixed and kneaded to prepare a clay.
- the inorganic binder talc, kaolin, feldspar, clay and the like having an average particle diameter of 1 to 5 ⁇ m are made of SiO 2 (70% by mass), Al 2 O 3 (16% by mass), alkaline earth metal and alkali metal ( 11% by weight) mixture was used.
- the clay was extruded to form a monolith type porous base material.
- the molded object of the porous base material was baked (1250 degreeC, 1 hour), and the alumina base
- PVA organic binder
- a DDR type zeolite membrane (pore diameter: 0.40 nm) was formed as a separation membrane on the intermediate layer on the inner surface of each cell of the porous substrate.
- the sample No. 1 composed of the DDR type zeolite membrane and the porous substrate on which the DDR type zeolite membrane is formed.
- the separation membrane structure according to 1 was completed.
- CO 2 gas of 0.1 MPaG is supplied to the primary side of the DDR type zeolite membrane, and CO 2 gas permeation is performed based on the permeation flow rate of the CO 2 gas that has permeated the secondary side of the zeolite membrane. The speed was measured. The CO 2 gas permeation rate was 760 [nmol / m 2 spa].
- CF 4 gas was prepared as an inspection gas.
- the dynamic molecular diameter of CF 4 gas is 0.47 nm, and the pore diameter (short diameter) of DDR type zeolite is 0.36.
- kinetic diameters of CF 4 gas are the 1.31 times the pore size of the DDR type zeolite, it is determined that the CF 4 gas is hardly gas passes through the pores of DDR type zeolite membrane.
- the separation membrane structure was taken out of the casing and allowed to stand in CF 4 gas (25 ° C., 0.1 MPaG) for 60 minutes (see FIG. 3). Since the critical pressure of CF 4 gas is 3.7 MPa, the vapor pressure of CF 4 gas at 25 ° C. is not 100 kPa or less.
- the CO 2 gas permeation rate did not change before and after exposure to CF 4 gas, the CO 2 gas permeation rate decrease rate after exposure was 0%. From this, it was judged that the CF 4 gas is a gas that is hardly adsorbed / condensed on the DDR type zeolite membrane.
- the separation membrane structure with an O-ring attached was assembled in the casing (see FIG. 6).
- CF 4 gas is sealed on the primary side of the DDR type zeolite membrane, and the membrane defect leakage rate [nmol / m is based on the membrane defect leakage flow rate of CF 4 gas leaking to the secondary side of the DDR type zeolite membrane. 2 spa] was calculated.
- the primary side pressure was changed to 0.1 MPaG, 0.2 MPaG, 0.3 MPaG, and 0.35 MPaG, and the film defect leak rate was obtained for the four levels in which the secondary side pressure was maintained at 0.0 MPaG. did.
- a four-level measurement result is plotted on a two-dimensional coordinate with the sum of the primary pressure and the secondary pressure as the X axis and the film defect leak rate of CF 4 gas as the Y axis.
- the film defect leak amount calculation formula was obtained by linear approximation using.
- Film defect leak amount 0.207 ⁇ (sum of primary side pressure and secondary side pressure) +0.163 Equation 2
- the separation membrane structure with an O-ring attached was assembled in the casing (see FIG. 2).
- CF 4 gas was filled with 3 MPaG on the primary side of the DDR type zeolite membrane, and the secondary side of the DDR type zeolite membrane was opened to atmospheric pressure.
- the total leak amount of CF 4 gas to the secondary side was obtained based on the pressure drop width of the CF 4 gas on the primary side.
- the CF 4 gas seal leak amount was calculated by subtracting the CF 4 gas film defect leak amount from the total CF 4 gas leak amount. Then, it was evaluated whether or not the amount of CF 4 gas seal leak was not more than a predetermined threshold.
- Sample No. 2 Sample No. 2, sample no. The same separation membrane module as in No. 1 was produced, and the gas leakage inspection of the separation membrane module was performed using SF 6 gas as the inspection gas.
- SF 6 gas Since the dynamic molecular diameter of SF 6 gas is 0.55 nm, which is 1.53 times the pore diameter of DDR type zeolite, it is judged that SF 6 gas is a gas that does not easily pass through the pores of DDR type zeolite membrane. did.
- Sample No. 3 produced a separation membrane module comprising an AEI zeolite membrane produced by the method described in International Publication No. WO2014 / 157324. As in 1, gas leak inspection was performed using CF 4 gas.
- the dynamic molecular diameter of CF 4 gas is 0.47 nm, and the pore diameter of AEI zeolite is 0.38.
- kinetic diameters of CF 4 gas are the 1.23 times the pore size of the AEI-type zeolite, CF 4 gas was judged to be transparent hard gas pores AEI-type zeolite membrane.
- the CO 2 gas permeation rate before exposure to CF 4 is 369 [nmol / m 2 Spa]
- the CO 2 gas permeation rate after exposure to CF 4 gas is 368 [nmol. / M 2 spa]. Therefore, the CO 2 gas permeation rate reduction rate after exposure was 0.3%. From this, it was judged that the CF 4 gas is a gas that is hardly adsorbed / condensed on the AEI zeolite membrane.

Description

Tb=A×(PH+PL)+B ・・・式1

(サンプルNo.2)
(サンプルNo.3)
