- the glass ribbon G3 is reduced from the bottom surface side of the glass ribbon G3 by the contact between the glass ribbon G3 and the molten metal M. Thereby, the antimony oxide contained in the glass ribbon G3 in the vicinity of the bottom surface is reduced, the antimony colloidal particles are generated, and a brown colored layer can be formed.
- the formation of the colored layer is realized by adjusting the chemical composition of the glass ribbon G3. Since the chemical composition of the glass ribbon G3 is substantially the same as the chemical composition of the glass plate, the chemical composition of the glass plate is represented below.
- the content (A) of all antimony converted to Sb 2 O 3 is 100 mass ppm or more and 5000 mass ppm or less, and the content (B) of all sulfur converted to SO 3 is 100 mass ppm.
- the content (C) of all iron converted to Fe 2 O 3 is 60 mass ppm or less, and the following formulas (1) and (2) are satisfied. 0.03 ⁇ A / B ⁇ 50 (1) A / D ⁇ 2.2 (2) Wherein (2), D is a content of trivalent iron terms of Fe 2 O 3, or less content of total iron as calculated as Fe 2 O 3 (C).
- the content (A) is the total antimony content (A)
- the content (B) is the total sulfur content (B)
- the content (C) is the total iron content (C)
- the content (D) is Also called Fe 3+ content (D).
- XRF fluorescent X-ray analysis
- E is the content of divalent iron converted to Fe 2 O 3 and is measured by a method according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) C169-92.
- the total antimony content (A) is 100 mass ppm or more and 5000 mass ppm or less. Most of the antimony is contained as an oxide in the glass ribbon G3 at the start of molding, and is reduced from both the upper and lower sides during molding. When the total antimony content (A) is 100 mass ppm or more and 5000 mass ppm or less, an appropriate amount of antimony colloidal particles can be generated by reduction of antimony oxide. If the total antimony content (A) exceeds 5000 ppm by mass, the antimony oxide may be reduced by being exposed to a reducing atmosphere during molding, and metal particles may precipitate on the glass surface and become cloudy.
- the total sulfur content (B) is 100 ppm by mass or more. Most of the sulfur is contained in the glass ribbon G3 as an oxide at the start of molding. Sulfur oxide is distributed substantially uniformly throughout the thickness direction of the glass ribbon G3 at the start of molding, and is reduced from both the upper and lower sides during molding. Sulfur oxide is more easily reduced than antimony oxide, and antimony oxide is reduced after the reduction of sulfur oxide. If total sulfur content (B) is 100 mass ppm or more, the reduction
- the depth of the colored layer is determined by the ratio of the content of antimony oxide and the content of sulfur oxide at the start of molding. Therefore, the ratio (A / B) is set to 0.03 or more and 50 or less. Although details will be described later in the column of Examples, when the ratio (A / B) is 0.03 or more and 50 or less, a colored layer having an appropriate depth can be obtained. Therefore, if the colored layer is removed by polishing, the heterogeneous layer can be removed, and unnecessary polishing can be suppressed, and an increase in polishing time and polishing cost can be suppressed.
- the total iron content (C) is 60 ppm by mass or less. Most of iron is contained as an oxide in the glass ribbon G3 at the start of molding. When the total iron content (C) is 60 mass ppm or less, coloring by iron ions can be suppressed, and coloring by antimony colloid particles can be visually recognized. Since iron ions are present substantially uniformly throughout the thickness direction of the glass ribbon G3 and the glass ribbon G3 is colored throughout the thickness direction, the end of the glass ribbon G3 in the thickness direction is selectively colored alone. I can't. On the other hand, when iron is not contained at all in the glass ribbon G3, the function of supporting the coloring by the antimony colloid particles is weak and the preparation of the glass raw material G1 is difficult. It may be.
- the ratio (A / D) is set to 2.2 or more. Although details will be described later in the column of Examples, if the ratio (A / D) is 2.2 or more, the total antimony content (A) is sufficiently large compared to the Fe 3+ content (D), and the trivalent Coloring by iron ions can be suppressed, and coloring by antimony colloidal particles can be visually recognized.

- the total iron content (C) is more preferably 40 ppm by mass or less, particularly preferably 38 ppm by mass or less, and most preferably 36 ppm by mass or less.
- the Fe 3+ content (D) is more preferably 38 ppm by mass or less, particularly preferably 36 ppm by mass or less, and most preferably 35 ppm by mass or less.
- the glass plate preferably has a total sulfur content (B) of 600 mass ppm or more and a ratio (A / B) of 2.5 or less. Although details will be described later in the column of Examples, if the total sulfur content (B) is 600 mass ppm or more and the ratio (A / B) is 2.5 or less, the bottom surface and the top of the glass ribbon G3. A colored layer can be selectively formed on the bottom surface of both surfaces. When polishing of the top surface is not required, unnecessary polishing work can be omitted.
- a colored layer having a predetermined depth from the top surface may be formed by reducing antimony oxide in the vicinity of the top surface of the glass ribbon G3. Thereby, the layer removed by grinding
- the depth of the colored layer is set according to the polishing amount.
- the glass ribbon G3 is reduced from the top surface side of the glass ribbon G3 by the contact between the glass ribbon G3 and the reducing gas. As a result, the antimony oxide in the vicinity of the top surface of the glass ribbon G3 is reduced, and antimony colloidal particles are generated, whereby a brown colored layer can be formed. Coloring of the top surface can be realized by reducing the total sulfur content (B), and can be realized by setting the ratio (A / B) to more than 2.5.
- the glass plate preferably has a total content of all transition metals of the group consisting of Ni, Cr, Co, V and Se of 5.0 mass ppm or less. The fewer these transition metals, the better. These transition metals are for coloring the glass ribbon G3 in the whole thickness direction like iron. Further, these transition metals can affect the reduction of antimony oxide by changing the valence. The content of each transition metal is measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
- ICP-MS inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

- the arithmetic average roughness of each main surface of the glass plate is 0.1 ⁇ m or less. This indicates that scratches or the like generated in the process of making the bottom surface of the glass ribbon G3 have been polished.
- the top surface is a free surface that does not come into contact with the molten metal M, so the arithmetic average roughness of the top surface is already 0.1 ⁇ m or less before polishing.
- the arithmetic average roughness is “arithmetic average roughness” described in Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS B 0601) and can be measured by an atomic force microscope (AFM).

Description

0.03≦A/B≦50・・・(1)
A/D≧2.2・・・(2)
ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)C169-92に準じる方法で測定する。
0.03≦A/B≦50・・・(1)
A/D≧2.2・・・(2)
ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)C169-92に準じる方法で測定する。
