Abstract
본 발명은 열가소성 수지, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 열가소성 수지 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화(conjugated)된 불포화 지방산염;을 포함하여 중합된 열가소성 수지, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 열가소성 수지 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면 라텍스 안정성 및 열 안정성이 우수하고, 가공 중 가스 발생량이 적은 열가소성 수지와 이의 제조방법을 제공하고, 이를 포함하여 기계적 물성, 표면광택, 백색도, 체류광택 및 체류열변색이 우수하고, 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량이 낮은 열가소성 수지 조성물을 제공하는 효과가 있다.
Description
〔출원(들)과의 상호 인용〕
본 출원은 2015년 06월 15일자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2015-0084390호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다.
본 발명은 열가소성 수지, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 열가소성 수지 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 라텍스 안정성 및 열 안정성이 우수하고, 가공 중 가스 발생량이 적은 열가소성 수지와 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하여 기계적 물성, 표면광택, 백색도, 체류광택 및 체류열변색이 우수하고, 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량이 낮은 열가소성 수지 조성물에 관한 것이다.
아크릴로니트릴-부타디엔-스티렌(Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene, 이하 ABS) 수지는 아크릴로니트릴의 강성 및 내약품성, 부타디엔과 스티렌의 가공성, 기계적 강도 및 미려한 외관 특성으로 인하여 자동차 용품, 전기·전자 제품, 사무용 기기 등에 다양하게 사용되고 있다.
상기 ABS 수지나 그와 유사한 수지는 일반적으로 열 안정성 및 표면 광택을 향상시키기 위해 열 안정제의 투입 양을 증가 시키는 방법, ABS 공중합체 라텍스에 스트리핑(stripping) 공정을 적용하여 잔류 모노머를 제거시키는 방법 및 잔류 유화제의 함량을 최소화하기 위해 응집 및 탈수 시 추가로 물을 투입하는 방법 등이 사용되고 있다.
하지만, 열 안정제를 과하게 투입시키는 경우 수지의 기계적 물성이 저하되는 등의 문제가 있고, 스트리핑 공정을 적용하면 잔류 모노머 제거에는 유용하나 별도의 공정이 추가됨에 따라 비용 및 시간이 증가하여 생산성이 저하되며, 이를 이용하더라도 높은 휘발온도를 갖는 유기물의 제거에는 한계가 있는 문제가 있다. 또한, 응집 및 탈수 시 추가적으로 물을 투입하여 잔류 유화제를 제거하는 경우 폐수량이 증가하고, 제거 후에도 남아있는 잔류 유화제로부터 가공 시 가스가 다량 발생하여 표면 광택이 저하되는 문제가 있다.

또한 본 발명은 상기 열가소성 수지를 포함하여 기계적 물성, 표면광택, 백색도, 체류광택 및 체류열변색이 우수하고, 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량이 낮은 열가소성 수지 조성물을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
본 발명의 상기 목적 및 기타 목적들은 하기 설명된 본 발명에 의하여 모두 달성될 수 있다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 본 발명은 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화(conjugated)된 불포화 지방산염;을 포함하여 중합된 열가소성 수지를 제공한다.
또한 본 발명은 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화된 불포화 지방산염;을 포함하여 그라프트 중합시키는 단계를 포함하는 열가소성 수지 제조방법을 제공한다.
또한 본 발명은 상기 열가소성 수지; 및 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체;를 포함하는 열가소성 수지 조성물을 제공한다.
본 발명에 따르면 라텍스 안정성 및 열 안정성이 우수하고, 가공 중 가스 발생량이 적은 열가소성 수지를 제공하는 효과가 있다.
또한 본 발명에 따르면 상기 열가소성 수지의 제조방법을 제공하는 효과가 있다.
또한 본 발명에 따르면 상기 열가소성 수지를 포함하여 기계적 물성, 표면광택, 백색도, 체류광택 및 체류열변색이 우수하고, 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량이 낮은 열가소성 수지 조성물을 제공하는 효과가 있다.
이하 본 발명을 상세하게 설명한다.
본 발명자들은 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하여 중합된 열가소성 수지에 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화(conjugated)된 불포화 지방산염을 적용할 경우, 종래의 열가소성 수지에 비해 적은 양의 유화제를 사용하여도 동등 이상의 라텍스 안정성은 유지하면서 가공 중 가스 발생량이 적고, 이를 포함하는 열가소성 수지 조성물 내에 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량을 월등히 낮출 수 있음을 확인하여 이를 토대로 본 발명을 완성하게 되었다.
본 발명에 의한 열가소성 수지를 상세하게 살펴보면 다음과 같다.
상기 열가소성 수지는 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화(conjugated)된 불포화 지방산염;을 포함하여 중합된 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 일례로 평균 입자경 2,500 내지 5,000 Å, 2,500 내지 4,500 Å, 혹은 2,500 내지 3,800 Å의 대구경 고무질 중합체 라텍스일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 중합 전환율이 높아 중합 생산성이 우수하고, 충격강도가 뛰어난 효과가 있다.
상기 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 일례로 겔 함량이 80 내지 99 중량%, 85 내지 99 중량%, 혹은 90 내지 99 중량%일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 고무 입자 외부에 그라프트 공중합이 효과적으로 형성되어 충격강도 및 열 안정성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 대구경 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 일례로 소구경 고무질 라텍스를 비대화시킨 것일 수 있다. 상기 소구경 고무질 라텍스의 평균 입자경은 100 내지 2,000 Å, 혹은 600 내지 1,500 Å일 수 있으며, 겔 함량은 일례로 80 내지 99 중량%, 85 내지 99 중량%, 혹은 90 내지 99 중량%일 수 있다.
상기 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 일례로 상기 단량체 혼합물에 대하여 고형분 기준으로 50 내지 80 중량%, 55 내지 80 중량%, 혹은 55 내지 75 중량%로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 기계적 물성이 매우 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 방향족 비닐 화합물은 일례로 스티렌, α-메틸 스티렌, p-메틸 스티렌, 비닐 톨루엔, t-부틸 스티렌, 클로로스티렌 및 이들의 치환체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다.
상기 방향족 비닐 화합물은 일례로 상기 단량체 혼합물에 대하여 15 내지 30 중량%, 18 내지 30 중량%, 혹은 18 내지 28 중량%로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 가공성 및 물성 밸런스가 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 비닐시안 화합물은 일례로 아크릴로니트릴, 메타크릴로니트릴 및 이들의 치환체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다.
상기 비닐시안 화합물은 일례로 상기 단량체 혼합물에 대하여 1 내지 20 중량%, 5 내지 20 중량%, 혹은 5 내지 15 중량%로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 그라프트 중합 중에 응고물이 생성되지 않아 생산성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 일례로 탄소수가 5 내지 10, 혹은 5 내지 8일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 라텍스 안정성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
또 다른 예로 상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 불포화도가 3 이상, 혹은 3 내지 10, 혹은 3 내지 5일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 잔류 유화제의 함량을 낮출 수 있는 효과가 있다.
상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 일례로 소르빈산 알칼리 금속염 및 소르빈산 알칼리토 금속염로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다. 또 다른 예로, 상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 50 중량% 수용액의 형태일 수 있다.
상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 일례로 상기 단량체 혼합물 100 중량부를 기준으로 0.001 내지 1.0 중량부로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 열 안정성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지는 일례로 중량평균 분자량이 30,000 내지 250,000 g/mol, 50,000 내지 200,000 g/mol, 혹은 50,000 내지 150,000 g/mol일 수 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지는 일례로 응고물 함량이 0.12 % 미만, 0.01 내지 0.10 %, 혹은 0.01 내지 0.08 %일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 라텍스 안정성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지는 일례로 잔류 유화제 함량이 23,000 ppm 미만, 20,000 ppm 이하, 혹은 10,000 내지 20,000 ppm일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 가공 중 가스 발생을 줄여 표면 광택이 우수한 효과가 있다.
본 발명에 의한 열가소성 수지 제조방법은 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화된 불포화 지방산염;을 포함하여 그라프트 중합시키는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 그라프트 중합은 일례로 유화제, 분자량 조절제 및 중합 개시제를 포함하여 실시될 수 있다.
상기 그라프트 중합은 일례로 4시간 이하, 혹은 1 내지 4시간 동안 실시될 수 있다.
상기 단량체 혼합물은 일례로 일괄 투입, 연속 투입, 또는 일괄 투입과 연속 투입을 선택적으로 혼용하여 투입할 수 있고, 구체적인 예로 1 내지 50 중량%, 혹은 5 내지 40 중량%를 반응 개시 전에 일괄 투입하고, 나머지를 반응 개시 후 1 내지 4시간 동안 연속 투입할 수 있고, 이 경우 반응 시간을 단축시킬 수 있으며, 그라프트율을 조절할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 일례로 반응 개시 전에 일괄투입 또는 반응 개시 후 1 내지 4시간 동안 연속 투입할 수 있다.
상기 연속 투입은 일례로 투입되는 양에 따라 연속적으로 적하(drop by drop)하거나 스트림(stream)으로 이어서 투입할 수 있다.
상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염이 유화제와 함께 투입될 경우 유화제(50 중량% 수용액)의 pH는 일례로 6.0 내지 12.0일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 안정된 중합 환경을 제공하는 효과가 있다.
상기 유화제는 일례로 알킬아릴 설포네이트, 알칼리메틸 알킬설페이트, 지방산의 비누, 올레인산 알칼리염, 로진산 알칼리염 및 라우릴산 알칼리염으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있고, 이 경우 안정된 중합 환경을 제공하는 효과가 있다. 또 다른 예로, 상기 유화제는 50 중량% 수용액의 형태일 수 있다.
상기 유화제는 일례로 상기 단량체 혼합물 100 중량부를 기준으로 0 내지 1.0 중량부, 0.001 내지 0.8 중량부, 혹은 0.1 내지 0.5 중량부로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량을 낮출 수 있는 효과가 있다.
상기 분자량 조절제는 일례로 메르캅탄류일 수 있고, 구체적인 예로 에틸 2-메르캅토프로피오네이트, 2-메르캅토 에탄올, 메르캅토 아세트산, n-옥틸 메르캅탄, n-도데실 메르캅탄 및 t-도데실 메르캅탄으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다.
상기 분자량 조절제는 일례로 상기 단량체 혼합물 100 중량부를 기준으로 0.1 내지 1.0, 혹은 0.1 내지 0.5 중량부로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 기계적 물성 및 표면 광택이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 중합 개시제는 일례로 큐멘하이드로 퍼옥사이드, 디이소프로필벤젠 하이드로 퍼옥사이드, 3급 부틸하이드로퍼옥사이드, 파라메탄 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 및 벤조일 퍼옥사이드로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 지용성 퍼옥사이드계 중합개시제일 수 있다.
상기 중합 개시제는 또 다른 예로 철(Ⅱ), 철(Ⅲ), 코발트(Ⅱ) 및 세륨(Ⅵ)으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 금속 염류; 및 덱스트로스, 글루코스 및 플로토스로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 다당류 디하이드록시 아세톤 또는 폴리 아민류의 환원제;로 이루어진 산화-환원계 중합개시제일 수 있다.
상기 지용성 퍼옥사이드계 중합개시제 및 산화-환원계 중합개시제는 일례로 단독 혹은 혼합하여 사용할 수 있고, 상기 단량체 혼합물 100 중량부를 기준으로 0.01 내지 1.0 중량부, 혹은 0.05 내지 0.5 중량부로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 그라프트 중합의 중합 전환율은 일례로 97.5 % 초과, 98.0 % 이상, 혹은 98.0 내지 99.9%일 수 있다.
상기 그라프트 중합의 그라프트율은 일례로 30 내지 40 %, 혹은 31 내지 38 %, 혹은 31.5 내지 36 %일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 광택성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 제조방법은 일례로 그라프트 중합으로 제조된 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스에 산화 방지제를 투입하여 교반시키는 단계를 포함할 수 있고, 상기 산화 방지제는 일례로 분말 형태의 페놀계 산화방지제, 인계 산화방지제 또는 황계 산화방지제일 수 있다.
상기 산화 방지제를 투입하여 교반시키는 단계는 일례로 유화된 상태의 평균 입자경 0.5 내지 2 ㎛의 산화 방지제를, 40 내지 80 ℃의 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스에 서서히 투입하여 응집 공정 이전까지 연속적으로 교반시키는 단계를 포함할 수 있고, 이 경우 산화 방지제의 분산성이 우수하여 열안정성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 산화 방지제는 상기 단량체 혼합물 100 중량부를 기준으로 0.1 내지 2 중량부, 혹은 0.1 내지 1.5 중량부로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 열안정성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 제조방법은 일례로 그라프트 중합으로 제조된 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스를 응집하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 응집은 일례로 상기 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스에 황산 마그네슘, 염화칼슘, 황산 알루미늄, 황산, 인산 및 염산으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 응집제를 투입하여 실시될 수 있다.
상기 응집은 일례로 75 내지 95 ℃, 혹은 80 내지 95 ℃에서 실시될 수 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 제조방법은 일례로 상기 응집 단계 후 숙성시키는 단계를 포함할 수 있고, 이 경우 휘발에 의해 잔류 모노머를 제거할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
상기 숙성은 일례로 90 내지 140 ℃, 혹은 90 내지 120 ℃에서 실시될 수 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 제조방법은 일례로 상기 응집 및/또는 숙성된 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스를 건조하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 건조 단계는 일례로 상기 응집 및/또는 숙성된 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스를 탈수기로 수분을 제거하여 20 내지 40 %의 함수율을 갖는 고형분으로 분리한 후, 열풍 건조 방식을 이용하여 건조시키는 단계를 포함할 수 있고, 이 경우 탈수를 통해 건조 시간을 단축시키며, 열풍 건조를 통해 잔류 모노머를 감소시키는 효과가 있다.
본 발명에 의한 열가소성 수지 조성물은 상기 열가소성 수지; 및 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 열가소성 수지 조성물은 일례로 상기 열가소성 수지를 10 내지 90 중량%, 10 내지 70 중량%, 혹은 10 내지 50 중량%로 포함할 수 있고, 상기 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체를 10 내지 90 중량%, 30 내지 90 중량%, 혹은 50 내지 90 중량%로 포함할 수 있으며, 이 범위 내에서 내충격성을 비롯한 기계적 물성이 우수하며 가공성이 뛰어난 효과가 있다.
상기 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체는 일례로 중량평균 분자량이 50,000 내지 300,000 g/mol, 80,000 내지 250,000 g/mol, 혹은 100,000 내지 200,000 g/mol일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 물성 밸런스가 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 방향족 비닐 화합물은 일례로 스티렌, α-메틸 스티렌, p-메틸 스티렌, 비닐 톨루엔, t-부틸 스티렌, 클로로스티렌 및 이들의 치환체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다.
상기 방향족 비닐 화합물은 일례로 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체에 대하여 10 내지 90 중량%, 혹은 30 내지 80 중량%, 혹은 50 내지 80 중량%로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 기계적 물성 및 가공성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 비닐시안 화합물은 일례로 아크릴로니트릴, 메타크릴로니트릴 및 이들의 치환체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다.
상기 비닐시안 화합물은 일례로 상기 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체에 대하여 10 내지 90 중량%, 20 내지 70 중량%, 혹은 20 내지 50 중량%로 포함될 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 기계적 물성 및 내화학성이 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 조성물은 일례로 최종 고무 함량이 5 내지 40 중량%, 혹은 10 내지 30 중량%일 수 있고, 이 범위 내에서 충격강도가 우수한 효과가 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 조성물은 일례로 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량이 1,150 ppm 이하, 900 ppm 이하, 혹은 100 내지 700 ppm일 수 있다.
상기 열가소성 수지 조성물은 그 물성에 영향을 주지 않는 범위에서 일례로 열 안정제, 광 안정제, 산화 방지제, 대전 방지제, 항균제 또는 활제 등의 첨가제를 임의로 포함할 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실시예를 제시하나, 하기 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하는 것일 뿐 본 발명의 범주 및 기술사상 범위 내에서 다양한 변경 및 수정이 가능함은 통상의 기술자에게 있어서 명백한 것이며, 이러한 변형 및 수정이 첨부된 특허청구범위에 속하는 것도 당연한 것이다.

1,3-부타디엔 100 중량부, 유화제로 지방산 비누 1 내지 4 중량부, 중합 개시제로 과황산 칼륨 0.1 내지 0.6 중량부, 전해질로 탄산칼륨 0.1 내지 1.0 중량부, 분자량 조절제로 3급 도데실메르캅탄 0.1 내지 0.5 중량부 및 이온 교환수 90 내지 130 중량부를 일괄 투입하고 7 내지 12시간 동안 50 내지 65 ℃에서 반응시킨 다음 분자량 조절제로 3급 도데실메르캅탄 0.05 내지 1.2 중량부를 추가로 일괄 투입하고 5 내지 15시간 동안 55 내지 70 ℃에서 반응시켜 평균 입자경이 600 내지 1,500 Å이고, 겔 함량이 85 내지 99 중량%인 소구경 고무질 라텍스를 제조하였다.
대구경 고무질 라텍스 제조
상기 수득된 소구경 고무질 라텍스 100 중량부(고형분 기준)에 아세트산 수용액 1 내지 4 중량부를 1시간 동안 서서히 투입하여 입자를 비대화 시켜 평균 입자경이 3,400 Å이고, 겔 함량이 97 중량%인 대구경 고무질 라텍스를 제조하였다.
열가소성 수지 제조
질소 치환된 중합 반응기에 상기 수득된 대구경 고무질 라텍스 65 중량부(고형분 기준), 이온 교환수 140 중량부, 스티렌 5 중량부 및 아크릴로니트릴 2 중량부를 일괄 투입한 후 반응기 온도를 50 ℃로 유지하고, 큐멘 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.05 중량부, 피로인산 나트륨 0.09 중량부, 덱스트로즈 0.12 중량부 및 황화제1철 0.002 중량부를 일괄 투입하였다. 이후 반응기 온도를 75 ℃로 승온하면서, 스티렌 20 중량부, 아크릴로니트릴 8 중량부, t-도데실메르캅탄 0.25 중량부 및 큐멘 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.12 중량부의 혼합액을 2시간 동안 연속 투입하였다. 또한, 상기 혼합액의 투입과 병행하여 유화제로 로진산 칼륨염 0.4 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액) 및 공액화된 불포화 지방산염으로 포타슘 소르베이트 0.1 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액)를 2시간 동안 연속 투입하였다.
상기 연속 투입이 끝난 후 큐멘하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.06 중량부, 피로인산나트륨 0.04 중량부, 덱스트로즈 0.06 중량부 및 황화제1철 0.001 중량부를 일괄 투입하고, 반응기 온도를 80 ℃로 20분간 승온한 후 40분간 유지하고 반응을 종료하여 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스를 수득하였다. 이 때, 중합 전환율, 응고물 함량, 그라프트율 및 라텍스 안정성은 하기의 표 1에 나타내었다.
상기 수득된 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스에 평균 입자경 0.9 ㎛인 산화방지제(winstay-L/IR1076=0.8/0.2) 유화액 0.5 중량부를 투입한 후, 88℃, 황산 마그네슘 2.3 중량부 존재 하에서 1차 응집시키고, 97 ℃에서 2차 숙성한 후 수분 함량 30 % 수준의 분말상의 그라프트 공중합체를 수득하였다. 이 때, 잔류 유화제 함량은 하기의 표 1에 나타내었다.
열가소성 수지 조성물 제조
상기 수득된 분말상의 그라프트 공중합체를 건조하여 수분 함량 1 % 미만의 그라프트 공중합체 분말을 얻은 후, 상기 그라프트 공중합체 23 중량%; 및 중량평균 분자량 140,000 g/mol이고, 아크릴로니트릴 함량이 24 중량%인 스티렌-아크릴로니트릴 공중합체 77 중량%;로 이루어진 수지 혼합물 100 중량부에 활제 1.5 중량부 및 산화 방지제 0.2 중량부를 투입하고 이축 압출기를 이용해 200 내지 300 ℃에서 용융 및 혼련하여 펠렛 형태의 수지 조성물을 제조하였으며, 제조된 펠렛 형태의 수지 조성물을 사출하여 최종 고무 함량이 15 중량%인 시편을 제작한 후, 그 물성을 하기의 방법으로 측정하여 표 2에 나타내었다.
실시예 2
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 유화제인 로진산 칼륨염과 공액화된 불포화 지방산염인 포타슘 소르베이트를 대구경 고무질 라텍스 투입 시 함께 일괄 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다.
실시예 3
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 유화제인 로진산 칼륨염을 투입하지 않고, 공액화된 불포화 지방산염인 포타슘 소르베이트를 0.4 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액) 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다.
실시예 4
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 유화제인 로진산 칼륨염을 투입하지 않고, 공액화된 불포화 지방산염인 포타슘 소르베이트 0.4 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액)를 대구경 고무질 라텍스 투입 시 함께 일괄 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다.
실시예 5
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 질소 치환된 중합 반응기에 대구경 고무질 라텍스 70 중량부(고형분 기준), 이온 교환수 140 중량부, 스티렌 4.9 중량부 및 아크릴로니트릴 2.1 중량부를 일괄 투입한 후 반응기 온도를 50 ℃로 유지하고, 큐멘 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.05 중량부, 피로인산 나트륨 0.09 중량부, 덱스트로즈 0.12 중량부 및 황화제1철 0.002 중량부를 일괄 투입하고, 이후 반응기 온도를 75 ℃로 승온하면서, 스티렌 16.56 중량부, 아크릴로니트릴 6.44 중량부, t-도데실메르캅탄 0.2 중량부 및 큐멘 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.12 중량부의 혼합액을 1시간 30분 동안 연속 투입하고, 상기 혼합액의 투입과 병행하여 유화제로 로진산 칼륨염 0.3 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액) 및 공액화된 불포화 지방산염으로 포타슘 소르베이트 0.1 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액)를 1시간 30분 동안 연속 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다. 이 때, 제작된 시편은 최종 고무 함량이 16 중량%이었다.
실시예 6
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 질소 치환된 중합 반응기에 대구경 고무질 라텍스 60 중량부(고형분 기준) 및 이온 교환수 140 중량부를 일괄 투입한 후 반응기 온도를 50 ℃로 유지하고, 큐멘 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.05 중량부, 피로인산 나트륨 0.09 중량부, 덱스트로즈 0.12 중량부 및 황화제1철 0.002 중량부를 일괄 투입하고, 이후 반응기 온도를 75 ℃로 승온하면서, 스티렌 28.8 중량부, 아크릴로니트릴 11.2 중량부, t-도데실메르캅탄 0.35 중량부 및 큐멘 하이드로 퍼옥사이드 0.12 중량부의 혼합액을 2시간 30분 동안 연속 투입하고, 상기 혼합액의 투입과 병행하여 유화제로 로진산 칼륨염 0.35 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액), 공액화된 불포화 지방산염으로 포타슘 소르베이트 0.1 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액)를 2시간 30분 동안 연속 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다. 이 때, 제작된 시편은 최종 고무 함량이 14 중량%이었다.
실시예 7
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 공액화된 불포화 지방산염으로 포타슘 소르베이트 대신 소듐 소르베이트 0.1 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액)를 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다.
실시예 8
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, 유화제인 로진산 칼륨염을 투입하지 않고, 공액화된 불포화 지방산염으로 포타슘 소르베이트 대신 소듐 소르베이트 0.4 중량부(고형분 기준, 50 중량% 수용액)를 대구경 고무질 라텍스 투입 시 함께 일괄 투입한 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다.
비교예 1
상기 실시예 1의 열가소성 수지 제조 시, t-도데실메르캅탄 0.25 중량부 대신 3급 도데실메르캅탄 0.4 중량부를 투입하고, 로진산 칼륨염 0.4 중량부 대신 1.0 중량부 투입하고, 공액화된 불포화 지방산염인 포타슘 소르베이트를 투입하지 않은 것을 제외하고는 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 실시하였다.
[시험예]
상기 실시예 1 내지 6 및 비교예 1에서 제조된 열가소성 수지의 특성을 하기의 방법으로 측정하여 표 1에 나타내었고, 마찬가지로 상기 실시예 1 내지 6 및 비교예 1에서 제조된 상기 열가소성 수지 조성물의 특성을 하기의 방법으로 측정하여 표 2에 나타내었다.
측정 방법
* 겔 함량(중량%): 고무질 라텍스를 묽은 산 또는 이의 금속 염을 사용하여 응고한 후 세척하여 60 ℃의 진공오븐에서 24시간 동안 건조한 다음 얻어진 고무 덩어리를 가위로 잘게 자른 후 1 g의 고무 절편을 톨루엔 100 g에 넣고 48시간 동안 실온(16 내지 26℃)의 암실에서 보관 후 졸과 겔로 분리하고 하기의 수학식 1로 겔 함량을 계산하였다.
* 평균 입자경 및 입자경 분포(Å): Nicomp 370HPL을 이용하여 다이나믹 레이져라이트 스케트링법으로 측정하였다.
* 중합 전환율(%): 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스 1.5g을 150 ℃ 열풍 건조기 내에서 15분간 건조 후 무게를 측정하여 총 고형분 함량(TSC)을 구하고 하기 수학식 2로 중합 전환율을 계산하였다.
* 응고물 함량(%): 반응조 내에 생성된 응고물의 무게, 총 고무의 무게 및 단량체의 무게를 측정하고, 하기의 수학식 3으로 응고물 함량을 계산하였다.
* 잔류 유화제 함량(ppm): 0.2 g의 그라프트 공중합체 분말을 50 ml의 vial에 취한 후, 아세톤 10 ml를 가하여 2 시간 동안 소니케이션하여 시료를 용해시켰다. 여기에 메탄올 30 ml를 천천히 가하여 공중합체를 침전시킨 후 1시간 동안 소니케이션하여 첨가제를 추출하였다. 이 후 상등액을 취하여 필터링한 후 Agilent 1100 system을 이용하여 HPLC/DAD(Diode Array Detector)/MSD(Mass Selective Detector)로 측정하였다.
* 그라프트율(%): 2 g의 그라프트 공중합체 분말을 아세톤 300 ml에 넣고 24시간 동안 교반하였다. 이 용액을 초원심 분리기를 이용하여 분리한 후, 분리된 아세톤 용액을 메탄올에 떨어뜨려 그라프트 되지 않은 부분을 얻고, 이를 건조시켜 무게를 측정하였다. 이 무게들로부터 하기의 수학식 4로 그라프트율을 계산하였다.
* 라텍스 안정성 테스트(분, min): 100 g(고형분 기준)의 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스를 PRIMIX 사의 T.K ROBOMIX를 이용하여 Ultra high speed emulsifier/disperser로 12,000 rpm의 회전력을 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스에 가했을 때 안정성이 파괴되어 크리밍(creaming)될 때까지의 시간(min)을 측정하였다.
* 충격강도(Notched Izod, kg·cm/cm): 1/4"의 시편을 이용하여 표준측정 ASTM D256에 의거하여 측정하였다.
* 용융지수(MI, g/10 min): 시편을 이용하여 표준측정 ASTM D1238에 의거하여 220 ℃, 10 kg 하중에서 10분간 측정하였다.
* 인장강도(kg/cm2): 시편을 이용하여 표준측정 ASTM D638에 의거하여 측정하였다.
* 표면광택: 시편을 이용하여 표준측정 ASTM D528에 의거하여 45 °각도에서 측정하였다.
* 백색도(W.I): 디스크 시편(1.5 mm)을 사출하여 Suga color computer를 이용해 W.I 값을 측정하였다.
* 체류광택: 압출기에서 얻어진 펠렛을 사출기에 넣고 270 ℃ 조건 하에서 15분간 체류시킨 후 광택 측정을 위한 시편을 얻고, 이를 200 ℃에서 체류 없이 사출한 시편과 같이 표준측정 ASTM D528에 의거하여 45 ° 각도에서 광택을 측정하고 이에 대한 편차 값(체류 전의 광택 - 체류 후의 광택)을 측정하였다. 측정 값이 작을수록 체류광택이 우수한 것을 나타낸다.
* 체류열변색(E): 압출기에서 얻어진 펠렛을 사출기에 넣고 270 ℃ 조건 하에서 15분간 체류시킨 후 열변색 측정을 위한 시편을 얻고, 이를 200 ℃에서 체류 없이 사출한 시편과 같이 Suga color computer를 이용하여 체류 전, 후 시편에 대한 각각의 L, a, b 값 및 L', a', b' 값을 구하고 하기의 수학식 5로 체류 열변색 정도를 구하였다.
* 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC) 함량(ppm): 1 g의 시편을 Agilent 6890N GC-FID를 이용하여 Headspace-GC/MSD로 측정하였다. 이 때, 상기 시편은 톨루엔 50 ml에 용해시켰고, 상기 0.02 g/ml로 시편이 용해된 톨루엔을 5μl(표준시료)를 취해 분석 후 톨루엔 100 μg/g에 대한 각 peak의 상대적인 적분 값으로 구하였다.

상기 [표 1]에 나타낸 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따라 제조된 실시예 1, 2 및 5 내지 7의 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스는 적은 유화제 투입량으로도 동등 이상의 라텍스 안정성을 유지하면서도 중합 전환율, 응고물 함량, 그라프트율이 우수하며, 상기 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스로부터 수득한 그라프트 공중합체는 잔류 유화제의 함량이 현저히 감소되는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 실시예 3, 4 및 8의 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스는 유화제로 유화보조제인 포타슘 소르베이트 또는 소듐 소르베이트만을 투입하여 동등 이상의 라텍스 안정성을 유지하면서도 중합 전환율, 응고물 함량, 그라프트율이 우수하며, 상기 그라프트 공중합체 라텍스로부터 수득한 그라프트 공중합체는 잔류 유화제의 함량이 현저히 감소되는 것을 확인할 수 있는 반면, 유화제를 통상적으로 사용되는 함량으로 투입한 비교예 1의 경우 잔류 유화제의 함량이 여전히 높은 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

상기 [표 2]에 나타낸 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따라 제조된 실시예 1 내지 8의 열가소성 수지 조성물은 유화제를 통상적으로 사용되는 함량으로 투입한 비교예 1에 비해 용융지수 및 인장강도는 동등 이상을 유지하면서도 충격강도는 개선되었고, 표면 광택, 백색도, 체류 광택 및 체류 열변색이 우수하며, 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물의 함량이 현저히 감소되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
이로부터, 본 발명에 따른 유화보조제를 사용하는 경우 유화제의 투입량을 최소화할 수 있고, 상기 유화보조제는 응집 및 탈수 시 소량의 물에 의한 워싱(washing)으로 제거가 용이하여 소량의 잔류 유화제의 함량을 현저히 낮출 수 있어, 잔류 유화제로 인한 가공 중 가스 발생을 줄여 표면 광택이 향상되며, 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물의 함량을 감소시켜 열 안정성이 우수하여 가공 후에도 표면 광택이 뛰어난 열가소성 수지 조성물을 제조할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
Claims (19)
- 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화(conjugated)된 불포화 지방산 염;을 포함하여 중합된 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 입자경 2,500 내지 5,000 Å의 대구경 고무질 중합체 라텍스인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 겔 함량이 80 내지 99 중량%인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 고무질 중합체 라텍스는 고형분 기준으로 상기 단량체 혼합물에 대하여 50 내지 80 중량%로 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 방향족 비닐 화합물은 스티렌, α-메틸 스티렌, p-메틸 스티렌, 비닐 톨루엔, t-부틸 스티렌, 클로로스티렌 및 이들의 치환체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 방향족 비닐 화합물은 상기 단량체 혼합물에 대하여 15 내지 30 중량%로 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 비닐시안 화합물은 아크릴로니트릴, 메타크릴로니트릴 및 이들의 치환체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 비닐시안 화합물은 상기 단량체 혼합물에 대하여 1 내지 20 중량%로 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 탄소수가 5 내지 10인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 불포화도가 3 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염은 상기 단량체 혼합물 100 중량부를 기준으로 0.001 내지 1.0 중량부로 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 열가소성 수지는 잔류 유화제 함량이 23,000 ppm 미만인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지.
- 고무질 중합체 라텍스, 방향족 비닐 화합물 및 비닐시안 화합물을 포함하는 단량체 혼합물; 및 탄소수 5 내지 20의 공액화된 불포화 지방산염;을 포함하여 그라프트 중합시키는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 제조방법.
- 제13항에 있어서,상기 단량체 혼합물은 1 내지 50 중량%를 반응 개시 전에 일괄 투입하고, 나머지를 반응 개시 후 1 내지 4시간 동안 연속 투입하는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 제조방법.
- 제13항에 있어서,상기 공액화된 불포화 지방산염을 반응 개시 전에 일괄투입 또는 반응 개시 후 1 내지 4시간 동안 연속 투입하는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 제조방법.
- 제13항에 있어서,상기 그라프트 중합시키는 단계는 유화제를 더 포함하여 실시되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 제조방법.
- 제1항 내지 제12항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 열가소성 수지; 및 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 조성물.
- 제17항에 있어서,상기 열가소성 수지는 10 내지 50 중량%로 포함되고, 방향족 비닐 화합물-비닐시안 화합물 공중합체는 50 내지 90 중량%로 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 조성물.
- 제17항에 있어서,상기 열가소성 수지 조성물은 잔류 총휘발성유기화합물(TVOC)의 함량이 1,150 ppm 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 열가소성 수지 조성물.
