Abstract
Description
特許文献1のプリントヘッドでは、発光素子群(410)が設けられたヘッド基板(450、ガラス基板)と、導光孔(4410)が形成された遮光部材(440)と、マイクロレンズアレイ(430)とが、この順に積層された状態でケース(420)に固定されている。詳しくは、ヘッド基板はケースと裏蓋(470)との間に配置され、裏蓋が固定器具(460)でケースに押圧され固定されている。遮光部材およびマイクロレンズアレイはケースの開口部に挟持され固定されている。かかる構成では、発光素子の光が導光孔を通過してマイクロレンズアレイにより感光体に結像されるようになっている。
特許文献2のプリントヘッドでも、特許文献1のプリントヘッドと同様の構成が採用されている。特許文献2には、その他に、ヘッド基板(450)と遮光部材(440)との間、および遮光部材とマイクロレンズアレイ(4301)との間がそれぞれ、接着剤(436)で貼り付けられた形態が開示されている。
特許文献3のプリントヘッドでは、LED素子(30)が配線基板(33)を介してホルダ(34)に固定されるとともに、マイクロレンズ(12)を含むレンズ板(11)が遮光部材(13)に固定されこれらレンズアレイユニット(1)もホルダに固定されている。
加えて、特許文献1、2の構成では、ヘッド基板、遮光部材およびマイクロレンズアレイに加えてケースを含む、多くの部品で構成されているため、部品の在庫管理や組立、加工精度などについて、時間やコスト面での負担も大きい。
特許文献2の図9に開示された形態でも、環境温度の変動により接着された部品間で膨張または収縮による引っ張り合いが発生し、ヘッド基板、遮光部材およびマイクロレンズアレイのそれぞれの部材間で反りやねじれに起因する歪が生じ、上記と同様に、発光素子とマイクロレンズアレイとの間で光軸のずれが発生する。
特許文献3の構成でも、特許文献1、2の構成と同様に、配線基板、遮光部材およびレンズ板がホルダに固定されているため、ホルダの材質によって光軸のずれが生じうるし、部品点数が多くそれに伴う時間やコスト面での負担も大きい。
複数の発光素子を含む発光基板と、
前記発光素子の不要光を遮光する遮光体と、
複数のレンズを含むレンズアレイと、を備え、
前記遮光体が前記発光基板と前記レンズアレイとの間に位置決めされた状態で、前記レンズアレイが前記発光基板に直接固定されていることを特徴とする光源ユニットが提供される。
図1Bに示すとおり、作像ユニット10は感光体12を中心とした複数の部材から構成されている。感光体12の周囲には主に、回転方向の上流側から下流側にかけて、帯電ローラー14、プリントヘッド16、現像装置18、転写装置20、クリーニング装置22および除電装置24が設置されている。
プリントヘッド16は発光素子とレンズとを有する光源ユニット30(図2参照)から構成され、発光素子からレンズを介して感光体12に光を照射し、帯電された感光体12上に静電潜像を形成するようになっている。
現像装置18は感光体12にトナーを供給し、感光体12に形成された静電潜像をトナーによって現像するようになっている。
転写装置20は用紙26を介して感光体12に当接しながら回転し、感光体12上のトナーを用紙26に転写するようになっている。
クリーニング装置22はいわゆるブレードなどから構成され、感光体12上に残留したトナーを感光体12から掻き落とし除去するようになっている。
除電装置24は感光体12に均一に光を当て、感光体12上に残った電荷を除去するようになっている。
なお、図1Bにおいては、作像ユニット10を1系統のみ図示しているが、異なる色のトナーを収容する複数の作像ユニットを設けて、カラー画像を形成するようにしてもよい。また、図1Bにおいては、感光体12から直接用紙26にトナー像を転写しているが、感光体12から中間転写体を介して用紙26にトナー像を転写するようにしてもよい。
遮光体50は、発光素子44の不要光を遮光するための平板状の部材である。遮光体50は、黒色顔料などの吸光性の色材を含むガラス製または樹脂製の基板や、黒色に塗装された金属板などで構成されている。遮光体50には複数の導光孔52が形成されている。遮光体50では、上面や下面、導光孔52の内面などに遮光フィルムを貼付したり遮光膜を成膜したりして遮光機能を実現してもよい。
レンズアレイ60は、平板状の基体部62と、その短手方向の両端にそれぞれ長手方向に延びる2つの脚部64と、基体部62に形成された複数の凸状のレンズ66、67とを備える樹脂製の光学部材である。基体部62、脚部64およびレンズ66、67は一体に構成されている。基体部62はレンズアレイ60のベースとなる部位であって、基体部62の一方の面(下面)に脚部64とレンズ67が形成され、基体部62の他方の面(上面)にレンズ66が形成されている。
レンズアレイ60の脚部64は、溶着により透明基板42に固定されてもよい。かかる場合も、レンズアレイ60が遮光体50を跨ぐような態様で、レンズアレイ60が発光基板40に直接固定されている。
本願発明において「直接固定」とは、レンズアレイ60のレンズ66、67のほぼ光軸方向に、レンズアレイ60を発光基板40に位置決め固定するように、接着や溶着などの方法を用いて、レンズアレイ60と発光基板40とを固定することを意味する。レンズアレイ60と発光基板40との間に接着剤が介在している構成、またはレンズアレイ60と発光基板40との間に接着剤以外の別体のシート状の部材が介在している構成も、直接固定に含まれる。
遮光体50も、導光孔52の中心が対応する発光素子44の中心に向き合うように、発光基板40に対して位置決めされ、接着剤82によって発光基板40の透明基板42の上面に接着されている。なお、レンズアレイ60と遮光体50との間は非接着とされている。
図4Bに示すように、遮光体50は接着剤82でレンズアレイ60の基体部62の下面に接着されていてもよい。この場合、発光基板40と遮光体50との間は非接着とされる。
この場合、発光基板40およびレンズアレイ60に対する遮光体50の位置が遮光の機能を損なわない範囲内に収まるように、遮光体50のサイズ(幅、高さ、長さ)と、レンズアレイ60の基体部60および脚部64のサイズ(幅、高さ、長さ)のサイズを定める。つまり、両者のサイズの差を嵌合の公差内とすることで、遮光の機能が損なわれないように遮光体50がレンズアレイ60及び発光基板40に対して位置決めされる。
なお、レンズアレイ60や発光基板40に対する遮光体50の位置決めに求められる精度は、レンズアレイ60と発光基板40との位置決めに求められる精度より高くないので、レンズアレイ60の膨張に伴って脚部64間の空間が狭くなる分を見越して、遮光体50のサイズを小さくしていても、遮光体50は遮光の機能を損なわないように位置決めされ得る。
図4Cに示す構成の光源ユニット30を組み立てる際には、レンズ67と遮光体50とが接触するのを避けるために、レンズアレイ60の脚部64で囲まれる空間に遮光体50を嵌合してから発光基板40にレンズアレイ60を接着するか、発光基板40上に遮光体50を配置してから遮光体50をレンズアレイ60に嵌合させつつレンズアレイ60を発光基板40に接着することが好ましい。
遮光体50も、レンズアレイ40と同様に、4つのユニット54から構成され、ユニット単位で発光基板40に固定されている。4つのユニット54にはそれぞれ複数の導光孔52がレンズ66、67に対応した位置に形成され、1つのユニット54につき3行×3列で計9つの導光孔52が形成されている。
図6Bに示すとおり、遮光体50を2つのユニット54で構成し、2つのユニット68に対し1つのユニット54で対応させてもよい。つまり、遮光体50のユニット54の数を、レンズアレイ60のユニット68の数よりも少なくしてもよい。このようにすると、図6Aの形態に比べて部品点数を少なくすることができる。
図6Cに示すとおり、遮光体50を1つの(単一の)ユニット54で構成し、4つのユニット68に対し1つのユニット54で対応させてもよい。このようにすると、さらに部品点数を少なくすることができる。
好ましくは遮光体50の素材に応じて、つまり、遮光体50が樹脂製であるか、ガラス製であるか、金属製であるかによって、ユニット54の数を変更するのがよい。
遮光体50が樹脂製である場合、遮光体50のユニット54の数は、レンズアレイ60のユニット68と同数の4つとすることが好ましい。かかる場合、遮光体50とレンズアレイ60とが同一または同質の素材から構成され線膨張係数が同一または近似するため、環境温度の変動による遮光体50とレンズアレイ60との膨張または収縮を同調させることができる。
遮光体50がガラス製である場合、遮光体50のユニット54の数は、レンズアレイ60のユニット68より少ない1つとすることが好ましい。かかる場合、遮光体50と発光基板40とが同一または同質の素材から構成され線膨張係数が同一または近似するため、環境温度の変動による遮光体50と発光基板40との膨張または収縮を同調させることができる。
遮光体50が金属製である場合、遮光体50のユニット54の数は、レンズアレイ60のユニット68より少ない2つとすることが好ましい。かかる場合、遮光体50の線膨張係数がレンズアレイ60と発光基板40との線膨張係数の間にあるため、環境温度の変動による遮光体50とレンズアレイ60との膨張または収縮、および遮光体50と発光基板40との膨張または収縮を、それぞれ同調させることができる。遮光体50が、レンズアレイ60と発光基板40との間の線膨張係数を有する樹脂やガラスで構成されている場合も、遮光体50のユニット54の数は、レンズアレイ60のユニット68より少ない2つとすればよい。
たとえば、図7Aに示すとおり、ユニット68中のレンズ66、67の数を変更せずに、ユニット68の列を増やしてユニットの数を増やしてもよい。
図7Bに示すとおり、ユニット68中のレンズ66、67の数を減らして(レンズ66、67を行ごとに分割して)、ユニット68の数を増やしてもよい。
かかる場合も、図6A~図6Cで説明したように、遮光体50のユニット54の数は、レンズアレイ60のユニット68の数に対し変更可能であって、ユニット68と同数としてもよいし、ユニット68より少なくしてもよい。
図7Cに示すとおり、レンズアレイ60は個々のレンズ66、67ごとに分割された多数の単ユニット70から構成され、レンズ単位で発光基板40に固定されてもよい。かかる場合、遮光体50も個々の導光孔52ごとに分割された多数の単ユニット56から構成し、1つの単ユニット70に対し1つの単ユニット56で対応させる。
かかる態様によれば、図7Dに示すとおり、レンズアレイ60をレンズ単位で不良品から良品に交換することができる。
図8Aは、レンズアレイ60をユニット単位で積層した例を示している。
図8Aの例では、図4Aに示した構成に、上面が平坦で下面に凸状のレンズ67が形成されたユニット69を積層した構造を有している。
図8Aの例では、下側のユニット68の上面に、接着剤84を用いて他のユニット69を接着して固定すればよい。上側のユニット69を溶着によって下側のユニット68に固定してもよい。
レンズ単位で積み重ねる場合も、図8Bに示すとおり、下側の単ユニット70の上面に接着剤86によって他の単ユニット71を固定すればよい。上側の単ユニット71を溶着によって下側の単ユニット70に固定してもよい。
かかる形態によれば、発光基板40、遮光体50およびレンズアレイ60が、ケースやホルダなどの固定部材(保持部材)に依存せずに相互に位置決めされる。そのため、これら部材と当該固定部材との間で線膨張係数の差を考慮する必要がなく、発光基板40の発光素子44とレンズアレイ60のレンズ66、67との間で、光軸のずれが発生するのを抑制することができ、少なくとも当該固定部材の分だけ部品点数も低減することができる。
固定部材の製造にかかる時間やコストを短縮または低減することもでき、光源ユニット30の製造にあたり、在庫管理や組立、部品の加工精度などについて、時間やコスト面での負担を低減することができる。
かかる場合、省スペースで成形可能である。
成形中も、大型の金型に比較して成形温度を安定させやすく、メンテナンス性を向上させることができるし、成形後は、短時間で樹脂を冷却可能であり、ハイサイクル成形を実現することができる。
かかる場合、レンズ66、67の光学面を補正するときも、当該光学面数が少ないため、加工や測定にかかる時間やコストを節約することができる。
そのため、環境温度の変動に起因するレンズアレイ60の膨張や収縮を、ユニット単位でまたはレンズ単位で最小限に抑えることができる。光源ユニット30の長手方向または短手方向に対する設計自由度も高くなり、少量多品種のレンズアレイ60を提供することができ、発光基板40のサイズや発光素子44の数の変動にも容易に対応することができる。

- 複数の発光素子を含む発光基板と、
前記発光素子の不要光を遮光するための遮光体と、
複数のレンズを含むレンズアレイと、を備え、
前記遮光体が前記発光基板と前記レンズアレイとの間に位置決めされた状態で、前記レンズアレイが前記発光基板に直接固定されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項1に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記レンズアレイは前記遮光体を跨ぐように配置された脚部を有し、
前記レンズアレイの脚部が前記発光基板に固定されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項2に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記レンズアレイの脚部が接着剤または溶着によって前記発光基板に固定されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記遮光体が前記発光基板または前記レンズアレイのいずれか一方のみに接着されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記遮光体が前記発光基板と前記レンズアレイとの間に嵌合されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記レンズアレイが所定数のレンズを含む複数のユニットから構成され、
前記レンズアレイがユニット単位で前記発光基板に固定されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項6に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記遮光体が複数の導光孔を有し、
前記遮光体が所定数の導光孔を含む複数のユニットから構成されることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項7に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記遮光体が、前記所定数のレンズを含む複数のユニットより少ない数の、前記所定数の導光孔を含む複数のユニットから構成されることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項6に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記遮光体が複数の導光孔を有する単一のユニットから構成されることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記レンズアレイが個々のレンズごとに分割されて構成され、
前記レンズアレイがレンズ単位で前記発光基板に固定され、
前記遮光体が複数の導光孔を有し、
前記遮光体も個々の導光孔ごとに分割されて構成されていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。 - 請求項6~10のいずれか一項に記載の光源ユニットにおいて、
前記レンズアレイには、他のレンズアレイがユニット単位またはレンズ単位で積み重ねられていることを特徴とする光源ユニット。
