Abstract
Description
中間転写方式は、例えば、カラー印刷の場合、図4に示すように、ブラック、イエロー、マゼンタ、シアンなどの各色の感光ドラム101上のトナー像を無端の中間転写ベルト102の表面に1次転写し、その中間転写ベルト102上のトナー像(カラー像)を紙などの記録媒体103に2次転写し、定着器104で記録媒体上のトナー像(カラー像)を記録媒体に定着させてカラー印刷を行う方式である。なお、図4中、105は、2次転写ローラ、106は、ローラを表す。
感光ドラム上のトナー像は、導電性エンドレスベルトの表層に1次転写され、その後、表層から記録媒体上に2次転写される。
また、本発明は、画像品質の低下を抑制することができる画像形成装置を提供することを目的とする。
本発明において、表層の剥離力は、図2および図3に示すように以下の方法で測定される剥離力である。すなわち、まず、長さ75mm、幅25mmの寸法の導電性エンドレスベルト1を用意する。次いで、その表層3の表面に、長さ55mm、幅18mmのニチバン株式会社製のセロハン粘着テープ(商品名セロテープ(登録商標)CT-18)4のうち、長さ45mmだけを表層3の一端(折り返し端部)から貼り付け、セロハン粘着テープ4の残り長さ10mm部分は貼らずに剥離した状態で残した。次いで、オートローダーの2つのクランプのうち、一方のクランプ5が、剥離した状態のセロハン粘着テープ4の一端を保持し、もう一方のクランプ6が、そのセロハン粘着テープ4が貼られていない部分の導電性エンドレスベルト1の端部を保持するようにセットする。次いで、200mm/分の引張速度で、クランプ5をクランプ6に対して180°の方向に、表層3からセロハン粘着テープ4が全て剥がれるまで引っ張り、その引張時の力(N)を測定する。次いで、図3に例示するように、引張時の力(N)がほぼ一定となった区間(引張可能な長さ110mmのうち、少なくとも70mm)の平均値を算出する。この平均値を剥離力(N)とする。上記方法により測定される剥離力によってトナー剥離性を評価可能であることが当業者に理解される。
本発明において、簡易耐久試験とは、メタノール(1mL)を含浸させた20mm×20mmの寸法のワーパー(千代田株式会社製、商品名コットンシーガル)を、4.9N(0.5kgf)荷重で導電性エンドレスベルトの表層の表面に押し付けて、50往復させる試験をいう。
本発明によれば、画像品質に優れる画像形成装置を提供することができる。
本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトは、無端のベルト本体である基材層と、当該基材層の外周側の最表面に形成された表層とを必須部材として備える。基材層と表層との間に、プライマー層などのその他の層を任意に備えてもよい。
本発明の導電性エンドレスベルトは、トナー剥離性の低下を抑制することができるため、画像形成装置における中間転写ベルトとして好適に使用することができる。
以下、本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトを構成する必須部材である基材層および表層、ならびに必要に応じて設けることができるその他の層について順に例示説明する。
本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトにおいて、基材層は、無端のベルト本体を構成する必須部材である。
基材層は、特に限定されず、従来公知の導電性エンドレスベルトの基材層を用いることができる。
基材層に添加される導電剤としては、特に限定されず、例えば、従来公知の電子導電性物質、イオン導電性物質を挙げることができる。このような導電剤を1種単独でまたは2種以上を組み合わせて用いることができる。
本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトにおいて、表層は、基材層の外周側の最表面に形成された部材であって、導電性エンドレスベルトに優れたトナー剥離性を付与するための必須部材である。
表層は、紫外線硬化性樹脂およびシリコーン樹脂を含む樹脂組成物から形成されている。
以下、樹脂組成物の必須成分である紫外線硬化性樹脂およびシリコーン樹脂、ならびに必要に応じて添加することができるその他の成分について順に例示説明する。
紫外線硬化性樹脂は、紫外線の照射によって硬化して表層のマトリクス(バインダーともいう)となり得る成分である。紫外線硬化性樹脂は、従来公知の導電性エンドレスベルトに用いられている紫外線硬化性樹脂を用いることができる。このような紫外線硬化性樹脂としては、例えば、これらに限定されないが、ポリエステル樹脂、ポリエーテル樹脂、フッ素樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、アミノ樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、アクリル樹脂、アクリルウレタン樹脂、ウレタン樹脂、アルキッド樹脂、フェノール樹脂、メラミン樹脂、尿素樹脂、ポリビニルブチラール樹脂などが挙げられる。所望の性能などに応じて、これらを単独でまたは2種以上を組み合わせて用いることができる。なお、本発明における「紫外線硬化性樹脂」には、後述する「シリコーン樹脂」は含まれないものとする。
本発明におけるシリコーン樹脂は、本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトの表層に優れたトナー剥離性を付与する働きを有する。
本発明の一実施形態では、シリコーン樹脂は、1分子当たり、(メタ)アクリロイル基を4個以上有するポリシロキサンである。
本発明の一実施形態では、当該4個以上の官能基は、全てアクリロイル基である。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、当該4個以上の官能基は、全てメタクリロイル基である。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、当該4個以上の官能基は、アクリロイル基とメタクリロイル基の組み合わせである。
理論に縛られることを望むものではないが、本発明においては、ポリシロキサンが、1分子当たり、(メタ)アクリロイル基を4個以上有することにより、硬化時にポリシロキサン間およびポリシロキサンと上記紫外線硬化性樹脂との間で3次元的な架橋構造を形成し、導電性エンドレスベルトのトナー剥離性の低下を抑制することができるものと推測される。
ポリシロキサン中の(メタ)アクリロイル基の合計数は、1分子当たり、4~8個であることが好ましい。
本発明の一実施形態では、ポリシロキサンは、(メタ)アクリロイル基をポリシロキサンのポリマー分子の主鎖の両方の末端部分に4個以上有する。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、ポリシロキサンは、(メタ)アクリロイル基をポリシロキサンのポリマー分子の主鎖の片方の末端部分に4個以上有する。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、ポリシロキサンは、(メタ)アクリロイル基をポリシロキサンのポリマー分子の側鎖に4個以上有する。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、ポリシロキサンは、(メタ)アクリロイル基をポリシロキサンのポリマー分子の主鎖および側鎖に合計4個以上有する。
上記Rの1価の炭化水素基中の炭素原子数は、例えば、1~20個であり、より好ましくは、1~9個、さらに好ましくは、1~6個、特に好ましくは、1個である。
上記Rとしては、これらに限定されないが、例えば、メチル基、エチル基、プロピル基、ブチル基などの直鎖または分岐のアルキル基;フェニル基などのアリール基;ベンジル基などのアラルキル基;ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリプロピレンオキシドなどのポリアルキレンオキシド;フルオロアルキル基;-OCOR’(ここでR’は、炭素原子数1~20個の1価の炭化水素基);-R”NHCOR’基(ここでR’は、上述したとおりであり、R”は、炭素原子数1~20個の二価の炭化水素基)などの非反応性基が挙げられる。
上記Rの他の例としては、これらに限定されないが、アミノ基;エポキシ基;脂環式エポキシ基;-R”OH基(ここでR”は、上述したとおり);-R”SH基(R”は、上述したとおり);-R”COOH基(R”は、上述したとおり)などの反応性基が挙げられる。
本発明の一実施形態では、上記繰り返し単位中のRは、いずれもメチル基である。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、上記繰り返し単位中のRは、いずれもフェニル基である。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、上記繰り返し単位中のRは、1つが水素原子であり、もう1つがメチル基である。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、上記繰り返し単位中のRは、1つが水素原子であり、もう1つがフェニル基である。
本発明の別の一実施形態では、上記繰り返し単位中のRは、1つがメチル基であり、もう1つがフェニル基である。
この他、(メタ)アクリロイル基を1分子当たり、4個以上有するBYK(登録商標)-UVシリーズを用いてもよい。
あるいは、ポリシロキサンの(メタ)アクリロイル基は、ポリエステル部分;エチレンオキシド、プロピレンオキシド、これらの組み合わせなどのポリエーテル部分などの連結部分を介して、主鎖もしくは側鎖に結合していてもよい。すなわち、(メタ)アクリロイル基を有するポリエステル変性シロキサンまたはポリエーテル変性シロキサンであってもよい。
シリコーン樹脂として、上述したポリシロキサンを1種単独でまたは2種以上を組み合わせて用いることができる。
例えば、シリコーン樹脂の含有量は、紫外線硬化性樹脂100質量部に対して、0.1質量部以上とすることができる。0.1質量部以上であることにより、導電性エンドレスベルトに十分なトナー剥離性を付与しやすい。
本発明の一実施形態では、基材と表層の接着性の観点から、シリコーン樹脂の含有量は、紫外線硬化性樹脂100質量部に対して、2.0質量部以下が好ましく、1.0質量部未満がより好ましく、0.5質量部以下が特に好ましい。シリコーン樹脂の含有量を0.5質量部以下とすることにより、トナー剥離性の低下を抑制することができることに加えて、基材と表層の優れた接着性を得ることができる。
樹脂組成物には、本発明の趣旨を逸脱しない範囲で、上記紫外線硬化性樹脂およびシリコーン樹脂に加えて、用途、所望のトナー剥離性などの性能に応じて、適宜、導電剤、酸化防止剤、熱安定剤、可塑剤、光安定剤、滑剤、防曇剤、アンチブロッキング剤、スリップ剤、架橋剤、架橋助剤、接着剤、防汚剤、難燃剤、分散剤などの公知の添加剤を添加してもよい。また、樹脂組成物の塗工性向上のために、メチルエチルケトンなどの溶剤を樹脂組成物に添加してもよい。
樹脂組成物中の任意成分の含有量は、用途、所望の性能などに応じて適宜調節すればよく、特に限定されないが、例えば、導電剤の場合、紫外線硬化性樹脂100質量部に対して、0.1~20質量部とすればよい。その他の任意成分についても、例えば、紫外線硬化性樹脂100質量部に対して、0.01~10質量部とすればよい。
紫外線照射における積算照射エネルギーとしては、適宜調節すればよいが、例えば、100mJ/cm2~1500mJ/cm2の範囲とすればよい。
本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトのその他の層としては、例えば、基材層と表層との接着性向上のためのプライマー層が挙げられる。プライマー層としては、従来公知のアクリル系のプライマー層を用いることができる。
表層のトナー剥離性の評価方法として、以下のような剥離力の変化率を用いることができる。この剥離力が小さいほど、表層表面からトナーを剥離するために必要な力が小さいため、トナー剥離性がよい。そして、その剥離力の変化率が小さいほど、トナー剥離性の低下を抑制する効果が高い。
本発明に係る導電性エンドレスベルトの好適な実施形態では、表層における、以下の式で表される初期の剥離力に対する簡易耐久試験後の剥離力の変化率を、200%以下とすることが好ましい。

上述したように、紫外線硬化性樹脂および1分子当たり、(メタ)アクリロイル基を4個以上有するポリシロキサンを含む樹脂組成物は、硬化して優れたトナー剥離性を発揮し得るため、本発明の導電性エンドレスベルトは、中間転写ベルトに加えて、画像形成装置におけるトナーカートリッジの転写ベルトとしても有用である。
本発明に係る画像形成装置は、中間転写ベルトとして導電性エンドレスベルトを備えることを特徴とする。
これにより、本発明に係る画像形成装置は、中間転写ベルトのトナー剥離性の低下を抑制することができるため、画像品質に優れる。さらに、廃トナーが少なくなるという効果も奏する。
画像形成装置としては、本発明に係る導電性エンドレスを中間転写ベルトとして用いること以外は、従来公知の中間転写ベルト方式の画像形成装置を採用することができる。

各実施例および比較例において、上記基材層の外周側の全面に以下のように表層を形成して、長さ75mm、幅25mmの導電性エンドレスベルトを得た。まず、表1および表2に示す組成の材料を、メチルエチルケトン(以下、「MEK」という)に固形分濃度が5質量%となるように溶解して樹脂組成物を調製した。次いで、その樹脂組成物を上記基材層にスプレーコーティングによって塗布して塗膜を形成した。次いで、その塗膜を90℃で5分間乾燥させた。次いで、紫外線照射により塗膜を硬化させ、厚み2μmの表層を形成した。
このようにして得た導電性エンドレスベルトの表層について、トナー剥離性の評価として、作製直後の剥離力(初期の剥離力)と簡易耐久試験後の剥離力をそれぞれ測定した。その結果と、そこから以下の式により表される初期の剥離力に対する簡易耐久試験後の剥離力の変化率(%)を表2に合わせて示す。
変化率(%)=[{簡易耐久試験後の剥離力(N)-初期の剥離力(N)}/初期の剥離力(N)]×100
この変化率が小さいほど、トナー剥離性の低下を抑制する効果が高い。
また、各実施例および比較例の簡易耐久試験後の導電性エンドレスベルトの表層について、基材層に対する接着力を、JIS K5600-5-6のクロスカット法に準拠して以下の評価基準で評価した。その結果を表2に合わせて示す。
評価◎:クロスカット法における試験結果の分類が0点
評価○:クロスカット法における試験結果の分類が1点
評価△:クロスカット法における試験結果の分類が2点
評価×:クロスカット法における試験結果の分類が3点以上
これに対して、実施例1~8では、実施例5で変化率が175%となったが、その他では、40%以下となった。実施例1,6および8では、変化率が0%となった。このように、実施例では、比較例に比べて変化率を極めて小さくすることができた。このことから、実施例の導電性エンドレスベルトでは、トナー剥離性の低下を抑制する効果に優れることがわかる。
実施例9~13では、表3に示す組成の材料を用いたこと以外は、実施例1と同様に、樹脂組成物を調製し、厚み2μmの表層を形成した。
実施例9~13で得られた導電性エンドレスベルトの表層について、実施例1と同様に、初期の剥離力と簡易耐久試験後の剥離力をそれぞれ測定した。
また、実施例9~13の簡易耐久試験後の導電性エンドレスベルトの表層について、基材層に対する接着力を、実施例1と同様に測定した。
これらの測定結果を表3に合わせて示す。

Claims (5)
- 画像形成装置に用いられる導電性エンドレスベルトであって、
少なくとも無端の基材層と、当該基材層の外周側の最表面に形成された表層とを備え、
前記表層は紫外線硬化性樹脂およびシリコーン樹脂を含む樹脂組成物から形成されており、
前記シリコーン樹脂は、1分子当たり、アクリロイル基およびメタクリロイル基から選択される1種以上を4個以上有するポリシロキサンを含む、
ことを特徴とする、導電性エンドレスベルト。 - 前記シリコーン樹脂が、1分子当たり、アクリロイル基を4個以上有するポリジメチルシロキサンであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の導電性エンドレスベルト。
- 前記表層における、以下の式で表される初期の剥離力に対する簡易耐久試験後の剥離力の変化率が、200%以下であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の導電性エンドレスベルト。
変化率(%)=[{簡易耐久試験後の剥離力(N)-初期の剥離力(N)}/初期の剥離力(N)]×100 - 前記樹脂組成物中の前記シリコーン樹脂の含有量が、前記紫外線硬化性樹脂100質量部に対して、0.1質量部以上1.0質量部未満であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の導電性エンドレスベルト。
- 中間転写ベルトとして、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の導電性エンドレスベルトを備えることを特徴とする、画像形成装置。
