(2)上記形態のスパークプラグにおいて、前記点Gaと前記点Haと前記点Iとを頂点とする三角形の面積と、前記点Gbと前記点Hbと前記点Iとを頂点とする三角形の面積とを合計した面積Jと、の関係は、1.2E≦F≦1.8E、0.05mm≦Da≦0.25mm、0.05mm≦Db≦0.25mm、かつ、0.20mm2≦J≦0.68mm2を満たしてもよい。この形態によれば、電極チップの剥離に対する接地電極の耐剥離性をさらに確保できる。
A-1.スパークプラグの構成
図1は、スパークプラグ10の部分断面を示す説明図である。図1には、スパークプラグ10の軸心である軸線CAを境界として、軸線CAより紙面左側にスパークプラグ10の外観形状が図示され、軸線CAより紙面右側にスパークプラグ10の断面形状が図示されている。本実施形態の説明では、スパークプラグ10における図1の紙面下側を「先端側」といい、図1の紙面上側を「後端側」という。
図2は、スパークプラグ10の先端側を示す説明図である。図2における上段の図2(A)は、中心電極100および接地電極400を+X軸方向から見た部分拡大図である。図2における下段の図2(B)は、接地電極400の先端側を-Z軸方向から見た部分拡大図である。

図8、図9、図10、図11および図12は、電極チップ450の剥離に対する接地電極400の剥離耐性を評価した結果を示す表である。剥離耐性の評価試験では、試験者は、接地電極400に関する各指標が異なる複数のスパークプラグ10を、試料A1~A8,B1~B12,C1~C16,D1~D16,E1~E16として評価した。

以上説明した実施形態によれば、矢視F3-F3から見た接地電極400の断面において、母材面411が露出するとともに、1.2E≦F≦1.8E、0.05mm≦Da≦0.25mm、0.05mm≦Db≦0.25mm、かつ、0.20mm2≦J≦0.68mm2を満たすことによって、電極チップ450の剥離に対する接地電極400の耐剥離性を十分に確保できる。また、中心電極100の面積Aと接地電極400の面積Bとの関係が1.3A≦B≦4.6Aを満たすことによって、火花放電および酸化に対する接地電極400の耐消耗性を十分に確保できる。

- 棒状の中心電極と、
前記中心電極との間に間隙を形成する電極チップと、前記電極チップが接合された電極母材と、前記電極チップの成分と前記電極母材の成分とを含有する溶融部とを有する接地電極と、を備え、
前記電極チップは、前記電極母材における基端部から先端部へと広がる母材面から前記中心電極に向けて突出した、スパークプラグであって、
前記基端部から前記先端部に向かう前記電極母材の長手方向に対して直交するとともに前記電極チップの軸線を通る前記接地電極の断面において、
前記母材面が露出するとともに、
前記電極チップの先端面の長さEと、
前記軸線より一方の側で前記溶融部が前記母材面に接する点Caと、
前記一方の側とは異なる前記軸線より他方の側で前記溶融部が前記母材面に接する点Cbと、
前記点Caと前記点Cbとの間の距離Fと、
前記一方の側で前記溶融部が前記電極チップの側面に接する点Gaと、
前記点Gaを通るとともに前記軸線に平行な仮想線が、前記溶融部と前記電極母材との界面と交差する点Haと、
前記点Caおよび前記点Cbを通る仮想線から前記点Haまでの深さDaと、
前記他方の側で前記溶融部が前記電極チップの側面に接する点Gbと、

0.05mm≦Db≦0.25mm、かつ、
0.20mm2≦J≦0.68mm2を満たす、スパークプラグ。 - 前記中心電極の先端面の面積Aと、前記電極チップの前記先端面の面積Bとの関係は、1.3A≦B≦4.6Aを満たす、請求項1または請求項2に記載のスパークプラグ。
- 前記母材面からの前記電極チップの高さKは、0.3mm≦K≦1.2mmを満たす、請求項1から請求項3までのいずれか一項に記載のスパークプラグ。
- 前記電極チップは、イリジウム(Ir)、白金(Pt)、ロジウム(Rh)、ルテニウム(Ru)およびニッケル(Ni)の少なくとも1つを含有する、請求項1から請求項4までのいずれか一項に記載のスパークプラグ。
