- Patent Document 1 proposes a negative electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery containing a composite of a material containing Si and O as constituent elements and a carbon material and a graphitic carbon material as a negative electrode active material.
- the present inventors have found that in the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery of Patent Document 1, the safety at the time of internal short-circuiting of the battery is significantly reduced.
- a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode.
- the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention is a battery using a negative electrode active material containing silicon as a negative electrode, and by using a metal foil with a roughened surface as a current collector for the positive electrode, The positive electrode current collector is easily melted, and the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited can be suppressed.
- FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view along the line AA in FIG. 1.
- a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is an example of an embodiment includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a nonaqueous solvent.

It is also possible to mix the acrylate monomer or acrylate oligomer into which the group has been introduced into the binder.
- a metal foil having a roughened surface for the positive electrode current collector.
- the temperature tends to be higher at the time of an internal short circuit of the battery than when only graphite is used as the negative electrode active material.
- the positive electrode current collector melts due to high heat at the time of internal short-circuiting of the battery, causing a short circuit. Since the contact between the medium and the current collector is cut off and the current is cut off, the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited can be suppressed.
- the surface roughness Ra of the metal foil whose surface is roughened is preferably 0.1 ⁇ m to 2.0 ⁇ m, more preferably 0.1 ⁇ m to 1.0 ⁇ m. If the surface roughness is too small, the positive electrode current collector tends not to melt to such an extent that the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited can be sufficiently suppressed. If the surface roughness is too large, the strength becomes insufficient and the current collector may be broken during charging and discharging of the battery.
- the surface roughness Ra is defined by Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS B 0601-2013).
- the metal foil having a roughened surface is preferably a metal foil containing aluminum.
- examples thereof include an aluminum foil, an aluminum alloy foil, and a film having an aluminum surface layer whose surface is roughened.
- the thickness of the roughened metal foil is preferably 10 ⁇ m to 20 ⁇ m. If the thickness is too large, the energy density of the battery decreases, and the metal foil is not sufficiently melted, so that the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited tends to increase. On the other hand, if the thickness is too small, the strength becomes insufficient, and the current collector may be broken during charging and discharging of the battery.
- the method for producing the metal foil having a roughened surface is not limited, but examples thereof include a method of rolling the metal foil using a roller having irregularities, a method of chemically etching, and the like.

These positive electrode active materials may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
- the metal element M preferably contains nickel.
- a battery using a negative electrode using a negative electrode active material containing silicon when a positive electrode active material containing nickel is used, the temperature tends to become even higher when the battery is internally short-circuited. Even when the internal temperature of the battery becomes high, the positive electrode current collector melts and interrupts the current, so that the effect of suppressing the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited is further exhibited.
- the proportion of nickel contained in the metal element M is preferably 10 mol% to 95 mol%, more preferably 30 mol% to 95 mol%.
- the proportion of nickel is small, the thermal stability of the active material is increased, so the short-circuit heat generation amount of the battery is small, and the effect of suppressing the short-circuit heat generation amount due to the roughening of the current collector is reduced.
- the proportion of nickel is too large, the structure of the active material itself becomes unstable and the cycle characteristics may be deteriorated.

Such a carbon material is formed from, for example, coal tar, tar pitch, naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrolene, etc., preferably coal-based coal tar or petroleum-based tar pitch.
- the surface of the SiO X particles is preferably 50% or more and 100% or less, preferably 100%, of carbon.
- the SiO X surface is covered with carbon means that the surface of the SiO X particle is covered with a carbon film having a thickness of at least 1 nm when the particle cross section is observed by SEM. .
- the SiO X surface is 100% coated with carbon.
- the particle cross section is observed by SEM, almost 100% of the SiO X particle surface is covered with a carbon film having a thickness of at least 1 nm. That's what it means.
- “approximately 100%” is intended to include not only 100% but also what is substantially recognized as 100%.
- the carbon coating is preferably 1 to 200 nm, more preferably 5 to 100 nm. If the thickness of the carbon film becomes too thin, the conductivity decreases. On the other hand, if the thickness of the carbon film becomes too thick, the diffusion of Li + into SiO X tends to be inhibited and the capacity tends to decrease.
- the negative electrode active material preferably includes silicon-containing particles and a carbon material.
- Examples of the carbon material include graphite and hard carbon.
- the mass ratio between the silicon-containing particles and the carbon material is 1:99 to 25:75, more preferably 3:97 to 20:80.

- V (0) open circuit voltage before short circuit
- V (t) battery voltage at time t
- R (0) internal resistance of battery before short circuit.
- the short-circuit point is a point that is lowered by 50 mV or more compared to the previous sampling voltage.
- the internal resistance of the battery before a short circuit is the alternating current resistance at 1 kHz of the battery in a fully charged state.
- the use of the roughened aluminum foil as the positive electrode current collector greatly reduces the short-circuit heating value. I understand. This is considered to be due to the fact that the metal foil with the roughened surface was used as the positive electrode current collector, so that the positive electrode current collector was easily melted by the high heat at the time of internal short circuit of the battery. In the batteries A1 to A4, the positive electrode current collector is melted to form a gap between the positive electrode current collector and the nail (short circuit medium), the contact between the short circuit medium and the current collector is cut off, and the current is cut off. Therefore, it is considered that the amount of heat generated when the battery was short-circuited could be suppressed.
- the effect of suppressing the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited does not depend on the type of the positive electrode active material.
- the batteries A5 and A6 containing nickel or aluminum as the positive electrode active material are more effective in reducing the amount of heat generated when the battery is short-circuited than the battery A2.
- Example 2> ⁇ Experiment 14> A battery A8 was produced in the same manner as in Experiment 1 except that in the production of the negative electrode, a mixture of SiO 2 X and graphite at a mass ratio of 0.1: 99.9 was used as the negative electrode active material.
- a battery A9 was produced in the same manner as in Experiment 1, except that in the production of the negative electrode, a mixture of SiO 2 X and graphite at a mass ratio of 1:99 was used as the negative electrode active material.
- a battery A10 was produced in the same manner as in Experiment 1 except that in the production of the negative electrode, a mixture of SiO 2 X and graphite at a mass ratio of 10:90 was used as the negative electrode active material.
- a battery A11 was produced in the same manner as in Experiment 1 except that in the production of the negative electrode, a mixture of SiO 2 X and graphite at a mass ratio of 20:80 was used as the negative electrode active material.
- a battery A12 was produced in the same manner as in Experiment 1 except that, in the production of the negative electrode, a mixture of SiO 2 X and graphite at a mass ratio of 30:70 was used as the negative electrode active material.
- Example 2 In the same manner as in Example 1, the charging capacity and the short-circuit heating value per unit weight of the negative electrode were examined for each battery. The charge capacity per unit weight of the negative electrode and the short-circuit heat generation are shown in Table 1 together with the results of the battery A1.
- the short-circuit heating value increases as the ratio of SiO X to the total weight of the negative electrode active material increases.
- the ratio of SiO X to the total weight of the negative electrode active material is preferably 1 to 25% by mass.
