Definitions
- the present invention relates to a connector that suppresses lateral deflection (also referred to as twist) of a terminal inserted into a terminal housing chamber of a connector housing so that the terminal can be accommodated and held in the connector housing in an appropriate posture. .
- FIG. 15 shows an example of this type of connector known in the art.
- the connector 101 includes a connector housing 110, a terminal 150 that is attached to the tip of the electric wire W and is housed and held in the connector housing 110, a front holder 170 that is mounted in the connector housing 110 from the front, By being mounted on the connector housing 110 and rotated when the connector 101 and the mating connector 102 (see FIG. 17A) are fitted, the lever can be used to make a complete fitting with a small force.
- a lever 180 for guiding, a waterproof plug 160, and a packing 165 are provided.
- the connector housing 110 is provided with an outer housing part 111 and an inner housing part 112 inside thereof. Inside the inner housing portion 112, a terminal accommodating chamber 114 into which the terminal 150 is inserted from the rear, a stopper 115 for positioning and locking the terminal 150 so as to prevent the terminal 150 from moving forward, and a terminal accommodating chamber 114 When the terminal 150 is inserted from the rear side, the terminal 150 is pushed by the terminal 150 to bend and deform to the outside of the insertion path of the terminal 150 (lower side in FIG. 15), and is inserted to the position where the terminal 150 is positioned by the stopper 115.
- the beak 122 engages with the locking hole 154 of the terminal 150 by returning from the bending, and thereby has the flexibility to position and lock the terminal 150 so as to prevent its rearward movement.
- the lance 120 is provided.
- the lance 120 is provided with only one beak 122.
- the electric wire W extending rearward of the connector housing 110 is bent in the bending direction as indicated by an arrow X (the transverse direction orthogonal to the front-rear direction as the terminal insertion direction). ) May be excessively swung to the side in the terminal accommodating chamber.
- the male tab terminal 106 of the mating connector 102 as shown by P in FIG.
- the tip of the terminal may reach the front end of the terminal 150 of the connector 101, and in the worst case, contact failure may occur.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and the purpose of the present invention is when a torsional force in the left-right direction is applied to the terminal by an electric wire extending behind the connector housing being pulled in the lateral direction.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a connector that can be connected and can improve the holding power of terminals.
- the present invention resides in a connector having the following configurations (1) to (5).
- a connector housing, and a terminal that is attached to the tip of an electric wire and accommodated and held in the connector housing The terminal housing is inserted into the connector housing from behind, and the front portion of the terminal inserted into the terminal housing chamber from behind is abutted to prevent the terminal from moving forward.
- a stopper for positioning and locking the terminal and when the terminal is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber from behind, the terminal is pushed by the terminal and is once bent and deformed outside the insertion path of the terminal.
- the bent state is restored and the beak is engaged with the locking hole of the terminal, thereby positioning and engaging the terminal so as to prevent the terminal from moving backward.
- a connector provided with a flexible lance to stop A flat rectangular tube-shaped box portion that receives and contacts the male tab terminal when the male tab terminal of the mating connector enters from the front of the connector housing is provided at the front portion of the terminal, and constitutes the box portion.
- the locking holes are respectively provided at three locations in the width direction center and in the vicinity of both ends in the width direction of the wide peripheral wall, On the other hand, a connector in which the three beaks that respectively engage with the three locking holes of the terminal are protruded from the lance.
- the lance is formed in a single wide plate shape corresponding to the width dimension of the box portion of the terminal, and the three portions of the terminal on the wide surface of the plate-like lance.
- Three beaks that respectively engage with the stop holes are projected, and the lance is provided with slits for increasing the elasticity of the lance at the beaks arranged at both ends in the width direction of the lance and in the center in the width direction.
- the tip of three portions that are located between the lances and are formed along the front-rear direction of the lance and separated in the width direction of the lance by the slits are connected to each other by a connecting portion.
- the front holder can be pushed into the connector housing from the temporary locking position on the front side in the mounting direction of the front holder to the main locking position on the back side in the mounting direction of the front holder,
- the lance is provided in the connector housing so as to prevent the terminal inserted from the rear of the connector housing from coming out from the rear in a state where the front holder is in the temporary locking position,
- the front holder enters the bending space of the lance and enters the lance.
- the terminal is prevented from coming out rearward of the connector housing by the three beaks arranged side by side in the width direction of the lance, so that the electric wire is pulled in the lateral direction. Even when a lateral force is applied to the terminal, it is possible to minimize terminal deflection (also referred to as torsion) in the terminal accommodating chamber. Therefore, when the connector and the mating connector are fitted, the male tab terminal of the mating connector can be prevented from reaching the terminal of the connector, and the terminals can be electrically connected smoothly. Further, since the three beaks hold the terminal, the holding power of the terminal can be improved.
- the lance is formed in a wide plate shape, so that the rigidity of the lance is increased and the insertion resistance at the time of inserting the terminal is increased.
- the lance is provided with a slit, it is easily elastically deformed, and an increase in insertion resistance can be suppressed as much as possible.
- the tips of the three parts separated by the slit in the width direction of the lance are connected to each other by the connecting part, when the lance is forced to bend to remove the terminal, the central beak is engaged. By merely displacing in the disengagement direction, other beaks can be displaced in the disengagement direction together. Therefore, when removing the terminal, it is only necessary to perform the same operation as in the case of a conventional beak.
- the front ends of the three beaks engage with the front hole edges of the respective locking holes, thereby preventing the terminal from moving rearward of the connector housing.
- the terminal can be positioned and held, and the side end surfaces of the two beaks arranged at both ends in the width direction of the lance are engaged with the side hole edges of the locking holes so that the terminal does not move in the width direction.
- the three beaks are set so as not to line up in a row in the width direction of the lance, it is possible to effectively prevent the terminal from being twisted.
- the beaks arranged at both ends in the width direction of the lance are formed longer in the front-rear direction of the lance than the beaks arranged in the center in the width direction.
- the side surface can be supported by the side surface, and the effect of side surface support on the terminal can be increased, so that twisting can be reliably prevented. That is, since the holding posture of the terminal can be maintained appropriately, it is possible to reliably prevent the male tab terminal of the mating connector from reaching the front end of the connector terminal.
- the terminal is doubled by pushing the front holder from the temporary locking position to the final locking position while the terminal is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber and locked by the lance.
- the terminal can be locked and the terminal can be reliably prevented from coming off.
- the terminal since the terminal is locked by the three beaks arranged side by side in the width direction of the lance so as not to be pulled out to the rear of the connector housing, the electric wire is pulled in the horizontal direction, thereby causing the terminal to move in the horizontal direction. Even when a torsional force is applied, terminal deflection (also referred to as twisting) in the terminal accommodating chamber can be minimized. Therefore, when the connector and the mating connector are fitted, the male tab terminal of the mating connector can be prevented from reaching the terminal of the connector, and the terminals can be electrically connected smoothly. Further, since the terminal is held by the three beaks, the holding power of the terminal can be improved.

- the lance 20 is provided with the slit 24, it is easily elastically deformed, and an increase in insertion resistance can be suppressed as much as possible.
- the tips of the three parts separated by the slit 24 in the width direction of the lance 20 are connected to each other by the connecting portion 25, when the lance 20 is forcibly bent to remove the terminal 50, By merely displacing the beak 22 in the disengagement direction, the other beaks 23 on both sides can be displaced in the disengagement direction together. Therefore, when removing the terminal, it is only necessary to perform the same operation as in the case of a conventional beak.
- the front ends of the three beaks 22, 23 are engaged with the front hole edges of the respective locking holes 54, 55, so that the terminal 50 is moved rearward of the connector housing 10. It can be blocked and reliably positioned and held. Further, the side end surfaces of the two beaks 23 arranged at both ends in the width direction of the lance 20 are engaged with the side hole edges of the locking holes 55, so that the terminal 50 is reliably regulated so as not to move in the width direction. be able to. Further, since the three beaks 22 and 23 are set so as not to line up in a line in the width direction of the lance 20, the twist of the terminal 50 can be effectively prevented.
- the beaks 23 arranged at both ends in the width direction of the lance 20 are formed longer in the front-rear direction of the lance 20 than the beak 22 arranged in the center in the width direction.
- the terminal 50 can be supported by the side surface of the beak 23 so as not to be laterally displaced, and the effect of the side surface support with respect to the terminal 50 can be increased, so that twisting can be reliably prevented. That is, since the holding posture of the terminal 50 can be maintained appropriately, it is possible to reliably prevent the male tab terminal 6 of the mating connector 2 from reaching the front end of the terminal 50 of the connector 1 as shown in FIG. .
The present invention having such an effect is useful in the field of connectors.
- a terminal housing chamber (14) into which the terminal (50) is inserted from the rear side into the connector housing (10), and a front end of the terminal (50) inserted into the terminal housing chamber (14) from the rear side are provided.
- the beak (22, 23) is engaged with the locking holes (54, 55) of the terminal (50) after returning from the state of being stuck, thereby preventing the terminal (50) from moving backward.
- a cylindrical box portion (51) is provided, and the locking holes (54, 55) are provided at three locations in the width direction center and in the vicinity of both ends in the width direction of the wide peripheral wall constituting the box portion (51).
- a connector (1) in which the three beaks (22, 23) that respectively engage with the three locking holes (54, 55) of the terminal (50) are projected from the lance (20). ).
- the lance (20) is formed in a single wide plate shape corresponding to the width dimension of the box portion (51) of the terminal (50), and the plate-shaped wide lance (20) is wide.
