Definitions
- the present invention relates to an image forming apparatus in an electrophotographic system having a toner sealing structure using a sealing member made of an edge sealing material, in particular, a fabric, and a process unit and a component unit in which its constituent parts are made into a cartridge or unitized.
- an image forming apparatus in an electrophotographic system has an end seal material for a photoreceptor and an end seal material for a developing device, an intermediate transfer body of a color image forming apparatus, or an end seal material for an intermediate transfer belt, and forms an image. Toner leakage in the apparatus is prevented, and image defects due to toner leakage and contamination in the image forming apparatus are prevented. Further, as an end seal material used for an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a seal member made of a synthetic resin foam, a seal member made of a nonwoven fabric, a seal member made of flocking, a seal member made of a pile fabric, a fabric made of A sealing member made of knitted fabric or the like.
- seal members are part of the surface of the toner carrier that is the end seal material of the toner carrier or the rotating body that seals the end of the surface of the toner carrier that carries the toner.
- a large number of electrophotographic image forming apparatuses are used as end seals for toner carriers that seal the exposed ends.
- a developing device in which the end face of one end portion of the seal material is a rake face for toner guide having a rake angle (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
- the developing device of this disclosure is composed of a one-stage guide provided with a guide for returning toner onto the sheet, and this one-stage guide has a sheet-like structure in surface contact, and has an area in contact with the sleeve. It ’s a big one.
- the conventional one is a one-stage guide, the load torque of the sleeve increases due to slight toner leakage and friction with the sleeve due to sheet-like surface contact. Has the problem of becoming higher.
- a developing device uses a foam as a developer leakage prevention member and is provided with an inclined groove in which the developer moves in the forward direction (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
- the end seal material of the developing device disclosed in this document is composed of a seal member having a structure in which a groove is provided in the foam.
- a cleaning device in which a slip member is attached upstream of the seal member and toner is not accumulated on the seal member.
- the cleaning device disclosed in this document drops the toner, which is powder, little by little each time, it is considered that the problem caused by toner accumulation is not a problem in practice.
- this apparatus cannot be said to be a sufficient cleaning apparatus.
- a seal member of a developing device formed by using a seal member planted by weaving and defining a tilt angle and a weave angle in the axial direction of the planted hair is disclosed (for example, see Patent Document 5). .)
- this hair transplantation is what weaved while weaving, it has a phenomenon that the hair comes off, and in the state of being rubbed for a long time by pressure contact with the developing roller, hair loss occurs,
- the phenomenon that the loose hair enters the developing device and bites into the toner regulating blade causes a decrease in sealing performance due to generation of streaks on the developing surface or hair loss, so that it has a sufficient sealing function. It is difficult to say that the developing apparatus has a problem.
- a cleaning device for an image forming apparatus, a cleaning device is disclosed that includes a synthetic leather that contacts an image bearing member with an end seal material and an elastic member that is integrally attached to the synthetic leather (for example, Patent Document 6). reference.).
- this cleaning device has been used without any problem since pulverized toner has been the mainstream.
- a lot of spherical toner has been used. Therefore, in the column of the effect of the invention of Patent Document 6, it is described that even a toner having a small particle diameter can pass through synthetic leather and be limited to the minimum.
- the surface of the seal member is only in a fine state, It is difficult to regulate or block toner leakage. Therefore, the backskin-like sealing member comprising the synthetic leather shown in Patent Document 6 and the elastic member integrally attached to the synthetic leather is insufficient as an end seal of the cleaning device. .
- a magnetic seal member is disposed with a predetermined gap from the outer peripheral surface of the developer carrier, adjacent to the developing region side of the magnetic seal member, and the magnetic seal.
- a process cartridge is disclosed in which an elastic body is provided so as to abut against a developer carrier over the entire circumference of a corresponding portion (see, for example, Patent Document 7).
- this process cartridge forms a magnetic seal against the magnetic toner and the two-component developer, and is effective as a sealing effect.
- non-magnetic toner cannot be sealed because there is no magnetic binding force.
- this process cartridge is not advantageous in terms of cost because it uses a magnetic material.
- a seal member for preventing leakage of toner a seal member made of a high-resistance conductive member is applied with a voltage for charging the developer, and the axial direction of the developing roller.
- a seal member is disclosed in which a groove is formed that moves toward the center toward the center (see, for example, Patent Document 8). Further, this document describes that the seal member is formed of a flexible cloth, an elastic member such as felt or urethane rubber, but only this causes leakage of the developer and scattering due to the cloud of the developer. It is stated that it cannot be prevented.
- a developing device can prevent leakage of toner by applying a voltage for charging the developer to a sealing member made of a high-resistance conductive member.
- the sealing member is electrically conductive with a rubber-based elastic member. Fine particles are mixed, and the surface is coated with a polyamide (trade name nylon), styrene, or fluorine coating agent for reducing friction, resulting in an expensive part and an expensive developing device.
- a polyamide trade name nylon

- a sealing member made of a woven fabric in which the yarn is waved so as to float up and the crest and valley yarns are arranged differently is disclosed (for example, see Patent Document 9).
- This woven fabric has a large yarn diameter and a multiple weave structure, so that there is a gap in the valley between the peaks, or the fibers of the yarn forming the peaks fall sideways due to compression. Further, it may become unstable to block the toner by falling to the valley.
- a sealing structure of a rotating body formed by printing is disclosed (for example, see Patent Document 10). Since this seal structure is a step guide by printing, it is difficult to form a corner as a guide sharply.
- a developing device using a seal member in which convex weaves in which overlapping portions on the surface are sequentially displaced are arranged in an inclined manner at a predetermined angle of 45 ° or less in the moving direction of the developer carrier.
- the overlapping part that regulates the toner is a structure that blocks the toner from entering the seal member, and the warp is forward and convex with respect to the moving direction of the developer carrier.
- the weave has an angle with respect to the moving direction.
- the warp yarn moves inward or outward in the axial direction as long as it is in the forward direction, which is not sufficient as an effect of returning the toner.
- a grease-like fluorine-based lubricant is applied to enhance the shielding effect by the warp inside the seal member.
- applying a grease-like material to the end seal material in this way is easy to form a toner lump such that the toner is agglomerated, and there is a high possibility of causing an image defect. It can be said that the device is insufficient, and the concave portion is not a characteristic feature.
- an image forming apparatus in the electrophotographic system needs to have a small installation space, and the downsizing of the apparatus is desired. Furthermore, since the tandem type apparatus has four process units, the necessity for miniaturization is particularly high. Further, a toner containing a resin as a main component has a problem that it is affected by frictional heat due to rubbing because the glass transition temperature and melting point of the resin are low. Therefore, a material having a low coefficient of friction and a material that can be sealed with a low contact pressure are required as the seal member.

- the satin weave 9 formed by regulating the flatness of the multifilament yarn of the warp 16 which is a warp twisted warp, and the multifilament yarn of the warp 15 which is a warp yarn b of a sweet twist
- the two types of weaving methods of plain weave 10 (or twill weave 11) formed without restricting the flatness of the yarn that is, the flatness formed by providing a difference in the spread of the multifilament yarns of warp 15 and warp 16 on weft 17
- a fabric 12a is formed in which a vertical stripe 14 consisting of a substantially straight concave portion 6 and a convex portion 7 having a step 13, that is, a stripe, and the fabric 12 a is used as a seal member 8.

- the end seal material 5 is formed in the shape of the material 5 and is used in the image forming apparatus 1 as the end seal material 5 of the toner carrier 2.
- the warp yarns 16 are multi-filaments, and the warp yarns 15 are provided so that the warp yarns 17 are monofilaments and the pitches of the warp yarns 10 are not close to each other.
- the warp yarn 15 in which the warp yarn 15 of the plain weave 10 shown in FIG. 3 is sweet-twisted on the monofilament of the weft yarn 17 is formed so as to spread.
- the warp 16 of the satin weave 9 is woven so that the warps 16 are adjacent to each other, and the spread of the yarn is obstructed and the flatness is small. Therefore, the step 13 is formed from the plain weave 10 and the satin weave 9.
- the filaments, that is, the fibers of the warp 16 that are multifilaments are made more straight by being twisted.
- the seal member 8 made of the fabric 12a is woven with a predetermined gap 32 so that adjacent wefts 17 do not come close to each other, so that as shown in FIG. Is easily bent at low loads.
- the graph of FIG. 17 shows the result of calculation regarding the relationship between the width of the recess and the amount of deflection. From this result, the width of the recess is preferably set to 0.25 mm or more. Further, considering this numerical value for the woven fabric 12a, the general woven fabric 12a is woven so that the woven yarns are close to each other. Therefore, there are irregularities on the front and back at the position where the warp and the weft intersect.
- the general fabric 12a does not describe the effect of the concave width due to the fact that the yarns are close to each other.
- the end seal material 5 composed of the concave portion 6 and the convex portion 7 used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention is bonded with a rebound elastic body 24 made of a foam or the like with an adhesive 23 or a double-sided adhesive tape 25, and A double-sided adhesive tape 25 having a release paper on the back surface is provided on the back surface of a rebound elastic body 24 made of foam or the like, and then cut or half-cut, so that the angle of the unevenness direction causes the toner 18 to carry the toner.
- the body 2 is configured to be returned to the toner container.
- the restriction angle 27 in the direction of the unevenness causes the toner 18 to return the toner 18 to the toner container as the toner carrier 2.
- the flow direction 28 is set. Therefore, the concave portion 6 at the end portion in the axial direction of the end seal material 5 is in a state where the support by the convex portion 7 is supported at one point, and compared with the central portion in the axial direction of the end seal material 5, the end portion in the axial direction.

- the toner scraping angle ⁇ is an angle that forms a rounded portion 7a of the convex portion 7 of the toner carrier 2 in FIG. 5A and the thread (fiber) 12b of the fabric 12a that contacts the toner carrier 2.
- the scraping action is determined by the scraping angle ⁇ and the particle diameter of the toner 18 in contact with the edges of the toner carrier 2 and the convex portion 7.
- the toner scraping angle ⁇ is made larger than the repose angle ⁇ of the toner, so that the toner 18 is scraped off.
- the force that the toner 18 electrostatically adheres to the toner carrier 2 is also increased.
- the scraping angle ⁇ of the toner is larger than the repose angle ⁇ of the toner.
- the toner 18 becomes wedge-shaped and easily enters between the toner carrier 2 and the seal member 8 and is rubbed off. The toner 18 leaks and is contaminated by the toner 18.
- FIG. 5 The model of this scraping chart is shown in FIG. 5 as described above.

- 5C is a scraped view of the chamfered portion 7b when the molded product 12c or the film is bonded.
- FIG. 6 shows a model in which the toner 18 having a particle diameter of 6 ⁇ m is used and the radius R of the convex portion 7a is changed. Further, FIG.
- the toner scraping angle ⁇ is 57.38 °, 42. It can be understood from FIG. 6 of the model that the toner 18 gradually decreases to 29 °, 27.44 °, and 19.53 °, and the toner 18 becomes wedge-shaped and easily enters between the toner carrier 2 and the seal member 8. .
- the particle diameter of the toner 18 increases from 6 ⁇ m in FIG. 6 to 10 ⁇ m in FIG. It can be seen from FIG. 7 of the model that this can be done.
- the toner 18 used in the image forming apparatus 1 is spheroidized and reduced in particle size, and the average particle size is 5 ⁇ m to 10 ⁇ m. Therefore, it is desirable to provide the toner scraping angle ⁇ to be further increased. Further, the repose angle ⁇ of these toners was measured by the repose angle measurement method shown in FIG. 37. As a result, the flowability of the spherical spherical toner is improved with the spheroidization. Is around 27 °, and in the pulverized toner, the repose angle ⁇ of the toner is around 38 °, and in the magnetic toner, the repose angle ⁇ of the toner is 40 °.
- the toner scraping angle ⁇ can be increased by reducing the radius R of the rounded portion 7 a of the convex portion 7.
- means for configuring the rounded portion 7a of the convex portion 7 there are a method by resin molding, a method of bonding a resin sheet member, a method of cutting out from the sheet member, and a method of using the seal member 8 made of the fabric 12a. Since the seal member 8 made of the fabric 12a used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention can arbitrarily set the width of the concave portion 6 and the width of the convex portion 7, the degree of freedom is high and the fiber diameter is arbitrarily set. Therefore, it is superior to other methods and has high stability because it uses the technology of the mature fabric 12a.
- the seal member 8 made of the fabric 12a using fibers.
- general chemical fibers such as synthetic fiber polyamide (trade name nylon), polyester, acrylic, etc.
- functional fibers include carbon fibers, fluorine fibers, heat resistant fibers, etc.
- conductive fibers and elastic fibers such as polyurethane fibers, etc., and the degree of freedom of selection is high, and the fiber diameter is recently referred to as microfiber, and the diameter is about 10 ⁇ m at 1.0D (1 denier) or less.
- fibers fibers
- the sealing member 8 made of the fibers used in the present invention includes these.
- Example 1 production of a resin sheet having concave portions 6 and convex portions 7 by a molded product due to progress in manufacturing technology or a resin sheet having concave portions 6 and convex portions 7 by a bonding technique is also performed in Example 1 and Implementation shown in Table 3 below. This is possible as in Example 2. If the manufacturing technology is established in this way, even with this method, it is possible to obtain a scraping effect as long as the size of the step 13 is taken into consideration. Therefore, these resin sheets are also included as the sealing member 8 having the step 13 composed of the concave portion 6 and the convex portion 7 of the present invention.
- the toner 18 scraped off by the sealing member 8 of the means of the present invention has an edge portion and a direction of the toner carrier 2 and the concave portion 6 of the sealing member 8 or the convex portion 7 of the step 13 by the step 13 of the sealing member 8.
- the toner carrier 2 moves in the direction of the stripe, which is the regulated vertical stripe 14.
- This schematic is shown in FIG. 8, FIG. 9 and FIG.
- the end seal material 5 in FIG. 9 is affixed to the device outer shell 1 d that is the mounting seat surface 43 with a double-sided adhesive tape 25 provided on the back surface of the end seal material 5.
- the seal member 8 is a single unit, and the test is performed with the vibrator 44 a vibrating under the most leaking condition.
- the step 13 as the sealing member 8 having the step 13 is preferably 0.1 mm or less.
- the result measured about the vibration in an apparatus was 5 m / s ⁇ 2 > or less.
- FIG. 13A shows that the gap 32 exists over the entire width of the recess 6 of the seal member 8 when compressed by the weight 51
- FIG. 13B shows the gap 32 when compressed by the weight 51
- FIG. 13C is a diagram showing a state in which the concave portion 6 exists only near the convex portion 7 of the seal member 8, and FIG. As shown in FIGS.
- a seal member 8 having a foam of a rebound elastic body 24 provided on the back surface of the seal member 8 is manufactured, and leakage of the toner 18 from the gap 32 and the seal member 8 is confirmed using a vibration test apparatus 44 shown in FIG.
- the results are shown in the graph of FIG.
- the closest gap 32 between the recess 6 and the toner carrier 2 is preferably about 0.1 mm or less as the seal member 8 that seals the leakage of the toner 18.
- the gap 32 is good against leakage of the toner 18 in a curved line from about 0.05 mm or less. Therefore, the closest gap 32 between the recess 6 and the toner carrier 2 is more preferably 0.05 mm or less.
- the sealing member 8 provided with the rebound elastic body 24 on the back surface bends the concave portion 6 of the sealing member 8 by the contact pressure with the toner carrier 2, so that the concave portion 6 and the toner carrier 2 are closest to each other. Since the gap 32 is made small, the single seal member 8 that does not have the rebound elastic body 24 on the back surface can be used even at the step 13 that seems to be difficult to use, and the use area can be enlarged. As for the effect of the width of the recess 6, as shown in the graph of FIG. 16, the moving speed of the toner 18 is greater when the width of the recess 6 is 2 mm than when the width of the recess 6 is narrow. Is fast.
- the width of the recess 6 is preferably 0.25 mm or more.
- FIG. 18 shows the result of measuring the moving speed of the toner 18 at each predetermined regulation angle by manufacturing the end seal material 5 having the angle 27 at each predetermined angle, contacting the developing roller 2a as the toner carrier 2. Shown in the graph. As shown in the graph of FIG. 18, the movement speed of the toner 18 increases as the restriction angle 27 that restricts the toner 18 increases, and the movement speed of the toner 18 increases as the restriction angle 27 of the toner 18 decreases. Become slow.
- the moving speed of the toner 18 can be adjusted by the regulation angle 27 of the toner 18.
- the regulation angle 27 of the toner 18 can be set according to the speed of the apparatus, and the toner 18 is at a speed faster than the speed at which the toner 18 enters the gap 32 between the recess 6 of the seal member 8 and the toner carrier 2. By moving the toner, it is possible to prevent the toner 18 from entering the gap 32. Therefore, this point may be set appropriately according to the apparatus.
- the difference between the contact load of the developing roller 2a, which is the toner carrier 2, with the seal member 8, the result of measuring the moving speed of the toner 18, and the amount of deflection of the recess 6 of the seal member 8 having the step 13 is measured.
- the relationship of the overlap amount with the toner carrier 2 with the size of 13 reduced is shown in the graph of FIG.
- the moving speed of the toner 18 has two inflection points as the contact load increases. The first inflection point linearly increases in moving speed due to an increase in contact load, and after the primary inflection point, the moving speed increases gently and linearly.
- the second inflection point is a secondary inflection point following the above-mentioned gentle and linear movement speed, and after this secondary inflection point, the movement speed of the toner 18 becomes slow. Yes.
- This phenomenon is based on the amount of overlap between the contact load and the toner carrier 2, and the primary inflection point is the position where the concave portion 6 contacts the toner carrier 2. It will be faster. However, as seen after the secondary inflection point, the moving speed of the toner 18 decreases conversely when the contact load increases. This is because in the portion of the width of the concave portion 6 that is the boundary between the concave portion 6 and the convex portion 7, the movement of the toner 18 is suppressed and the moving speed is slowed because the gap 32 becomes too small.
- the graph of FIG. 20 shows the moving speed of the toner 18 when the surface speed of the developing roller 2a which is one of the toner carriers 2 is changed. As shown in FIG. 20, as the surface speed of the developing roller 2a increases, the moving speed of the toner 18 also increases.
- FIG. 21 shows a reference diagram of a continuous book machine 33 which is a monochrome image forming apparatus 1a using an electrophotographic system.
- the monochrome image forming apparatus 1a shown in FIG. 21 is configured such that each functional component is unitized and detachable.
- the main part of the photosensitive member 34 which is an image carrier 47, is configured on the peripheral surface of a drum-like photosensitive drum 34a and is unitized, and is detachable from the main body.
- a charger 35a is disposed around the photosensitive drum 34a as a charging device 35 that charges the photosensitive member 34 on the circumferential surface of the photosensitive drum 34a.
- the charging device 35 is unitized only by the charger 35a and is detachable from the image forming apparatus 1a.
- the photoconductor 34 may have a belt shape instead of a drum shape. While the photosensitive drum 34a is rotated, the surface of the photosensitive member 34 is uniformly charged by the charger 35a, and then an electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive member 34 by the laser or the LED head 37 attached to the main body. .
- the photosensitive member 34 of the photosensitive drum 34a on which the electrostatic latent image is formed is formed by a developer carrier 36 which is a detachable developing unit having a developing roller 2a which is a toner carrier 2 in a monochrome image forming apparatus 1a. The toner 18 is visualized and developed.
- a toner image visualized by the toner 18 is formed on the photoreceptor 34 of the photoreceptor drum 34a.
- the toner image formed on the photoconductor 34 of the photoconductor drum 34a is transferred to a recording medium 38 such as a sheet 49 by a transfer means such as corona transfer or roller transfer, and then fixed by a fixing means such as heating roller fixing or heating belt fixing.
- the recording medium 38 is fixed on a sheet 49.
- the toner 18 on the surface of the photosensitive drum 34a is cleaned by a cleaning unit 39 that can attach and detach the toner 18 remaining on the photosensitive member 34 after the transfer. As shown in FIG.
- the cleaning means of the cleaning device 39 is formed of a cleaning blade 39a or a rotating brush, and is cleaned by these means.
- the electrostatically adhering toner 18 on the surface of the photosensitive member 34 is shown in FIG. 23 by a scattering means 46 for scattering toner such as a sponge roller 46a, a brush roller 46b, or a fixed brush 46c as a rotating roller. It is also possible to prevent the charged potential of the photosensitive member 34 from being affected by scattering. In addition, these members may be conductive members, and a scattering effect is obtained by applying a voltage.
- the apparatus of FIG. 23 is an apparatus that does not have a cleaning blade, for example.
- Reference numeral 39b denotes a photosensitive drum 34a which has a charging roller 35b as a charging device and is an image carrier 47.
- Such an apparatus is generally used when spherical toner is used and transferability is good. In this way, each functional part is separated from the photosensitive drum 34a and can be attached and detached, that is, a photosensitive unit as the photosensitive member 34, a charging unit as the charging device 35, a developing unit as the developer carrier 36, and the like.
- the cleaning device 39 or the scattering device 46 is also unitized to form a component type unit such as the cleaning unit or the scattering unit described above. For this reason, these devices require a dimensional margin with respect to the photosensitive member 34, that is, the photosensitive member of the photosensitive unit, and the end seal material 5 having a large margin in sealing performance.
- the printing speed that is, the image forming speed is high, and further, the development including the developing roller 2a of the toner carrier 2 and the like. Since the agent carrier 36 also has a high development speed, frictional heat generated between these devices and the rubbing member such as the seal member 8 becomes a problem.
- the toner 18 is mainly composed of a resin, and since the glass transition temperature and melting point of the resin are low in order to maintain the fixing property, the toner 18 as the resin is affected by frictional heat due to rubbing. It becomes a problem.
- the end seal material 5 that is in sliding contact with the developing roller 2a that is the toner carrier 2 requires a material having a low coefficient of friction, and further, the contact pressure required for the seal.
- the sealing member 8 which can be sealed with a low load is required.
- the seal member 8 according to the present invention is used for the end seal material 5 of the cleaning device 39 of the image forming apparatus 1 and the end seal material 5 of the developing roller 2a of the developing unit.
- a slippery thread may be used for the warp 15 of the satin weave 9 that becomes the convex part 7 at least. .
- a thread made of fluorine fiber As an example of using this thread with good slip, it is sufficient to use a thread made of fluorine fiber.
- a higher fatty acid salt or wax that is a slidable agent may be applied to the yarn or kneaded into a resin that becomes a fiber.
- FIG. 24 shows a reference example of the electrophotographic color image forming apparatus 1b.
- the image forming apparatus 1 shown in FIG. 24 is a tandem type process unit 4 using an intermediate transfer belt 40 and is a multiple batch transfer type image forming apparatus 1.
- four process units 4 as image forming units 3 are arranged in parallel, and a color image is formed with toners 18 of four different colors.
- the toner 18 includes four colors of Y (yellow), M (magenta), C (cyan), and K (black). From the right side to the left side in FIG. 24, the yellow process unit 4 and the magenta process unit. 4, a process unit 4 for cyan and a process unit 4 for black.
- Color-separated images are formed by the process unit 4 that is each image forming unit 3 and are superimposed on the intermediate transfer belt 40 to form a color image.
- the color image 18 formed on the intermediate transfer belt 40 is collectively transferred to the recording medium 38 such as the paper 49 in the secondary transfer area 52.
- the color image transferred to the recording medium 38 is an apparatus configured to obtain a color image by fixing the color toner 18 to the recording medium 38 by a fixing device.
- the apparatus using the intermediate transfer belt 40 includes a cleaning device 39 for cleaning the toner 18 on the intermediate transfer belt 40 after the secondary transfer or a scattering device 46 for scattering the toner 18. is there.
- the end seal material 5 is combined with the rebound elastic body 24 using the seal member 8 of the present invention, and the end seal material 5 of the process unit 4 and the cleaning device 39 are combined. The end seal material 5 is used.
- the tandem type apparatus has four process units 4, the necessity for miniaturization is particularly high. Therefore, it is desirable to reduce the size of the device by narrowing the width of the image area of the device.
- the image area of the apparatus is determined by the size of the paper 49 that is the recording medium 38.
- the paper size is standardized, it is usually difficult to make the image area narrower than the paper size area. Therefore, the width of the apparatus must be narrowed in the area of the apparatus member other than the image area.
- an apparatus member located outside the image area there is an end seal material 5 for preventing leakage of the toner 18.
- the width of the end seal material 5 is determined by the characteristics and life of the seal member 8.
- the width of the sliding contact type seal member 8 that contacts the toner carrier 2 is about 5 mm or more.
- paragraph 0036 of Patent Document 14 describes the width of the seal member 8. Is described as 10.5 mm, in paragraph 0012 of Patent Document 13, the rubbing width with the end seal material 5 is described as 4 mm or more, and in paragraph 0064 of Patent Document 17, the width of the end seal member is 8 mm.
- the width of the magnetic sealing member 8 is disclosed in paragraph 0032 of Patent Document 16 as 3 mm including the magnet width of 2.5 mm and the thickness of the magnetic plate of 0.5 mm.
- 0045 discloses a magnet seal width of 4 mm.
- the width of the end seal material 5 is about 5 mm in the image forming unit 3 having an A4 size or less of 5000 printed sheets.
- the reason for this is that the seal member 8 using the felt that is a non-woven fabric has an irregular fiber direction, and therefore has no action of returning when the toner 18 has entered. It is necessary to increase the width of the seal member 8.
- the flow direction 28 of the toner 18 is regulated by a pile that is in contact with the toner carrier 2 and is inclined in a predetermined direction, and the toner to the outside 18 is prevented from leaking.
- the pile diameter is made thinner, the pile density can be increased, but the pile becomes too soft, so that the pile is adapted to the rotational direction by the friction with the toner carrier 2.
- the toner 18 enters to a certain extent.
- the sealing performance is much better. For this reason, it is difficult to reduce the width of the end seal material 5 to be sealed by contact, and as a result, it is difficult to reduce the width of the image forming apparatus 1.
- paragraph 0041 of Patent Document 18 it is disclosed in paragraph 0041 of Patent Document 18 that the seal member 8 is compressed to 2 mm in the thickness direction of the end seal material 5. Further, paragraph 0074 of Patent Document 19 describes that the end seal is 2.5 to 4.5 mm and the thickness is compressed to 1.5 to 2.5 mm. Further, paragraph 0004 of Patent Document 20 describes that the seal member 8 having a thickness of 3 to 4 mm is generally used. Further, as the material of the end seal material 5, there is a seal member 8 whose material that rubs against the toner carrier 2 is made of synthetic leather, felt, sponge, resin sheet, flocked product, raised pile, pile fabric 12a, etc.
- the sealing member 8 is rubbed and does not have the rebound elastic body 24, a rebound resilience foam is provided on the back surface to obtain rebound resilience.
- the present situation is that the thickness of compression at the time of use is up to about 1.5 mm, and there is no good seal member 8 that can be used at a thickness less than this, and the size is small. It is a difficult situation.
- the hair or pile is mixed into the developer carrier 36, and the toner 18 Or the phenomenon which a hair or a pile stays in the regulation blade 41 shown in FIG.27 (d) which regulates a developer arises. When this phenomenon occurs, there is always a concern about the generation of streak as an image defect, and when the toner 18 remains in the cleaning device 39, there is a possibility that the same problem may occur. Has been.
- the applicable toner is a magnetic toner or a two-component developer. That is, it is limited to the magnetic material and the toner 18 which are carriers.
- the present invention can be applied only to the developer carrier 36 having the developing roller 2a having magnetic force, and cannot be applied to non-magnetic toner. For this reason, in the image forming apparatus 1 using non-magnetic toner, there is a high tendency to use one type of seal member 8 in common for the end seal material 5 of the cleaning device 39 and the end seal material 5 of the toner carrier 2.
- a developing roller 2a having a magnet inside, ie, a magnet roller which is one of the toner carrying members 2.
- the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention is a seal member 8 that can be miniaturized with respect to such problems on the apparatus, and is an image forming apparatus 1 using these.
- the seal member 8 used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention will be described below.
- the graphs of FIGS. 19, 25, and 26 will be described. As shown in the graph of FIG. 19, the relationship between the contact load of the seal member 8 and the moving speed of the toner 18 allows the seal member 8 of the present invention to move the toner 18 sufficiently within a predetermined range.
- the graph of FIG. 19 the relationship between the contact load of the seal member 8 and the moving speed of the toner 18 allows the seal member 8 of the present invention to move the toner 18 sufficiently within a predetermined range.
- the toner 18 to the seal member 8 is at a level unconventional.
- the intrusion width can be reduced to zero.
- the seal member 8 is shown when the contact load on the seal member 8 is changed to 100 g / cm 2 , 150 g / cm 2 , 200 g / cm 2 , and 300 g / cm 2 .
- the relationship between the penetration width of the toner 18 and the regulation angle 27 is shown.
- the intrusion width of the toner 18 indicates a result measured by an actual machine test apparatus and a result measured by changing the contact load.
- the contact load is provided with a rebound elastic body 24 which is a foam having a predetermined rebound resilience on the back surface of the sealing member 8 made of stripes, and the penetration width at each contact load is measured.
- the condition of the seal member 8 shown in FIG. 25 is that the seal member 8 is formed of stripes in which the widths of the recesses 6 and the projections 7 are 2 mm and the step 13 between the recesses 6 and the projections 7 is 0.1 mm.
- the result of confirming the penetration width of the toner 18 into the seal member 8 is shown as 250 mm / s.
- the regulation angle 27 of the toner 18 in the sealing member 8 having the stripes of the vertical stripes 14 having a width of 2 to 5 mm is set to 70 °, and the toner 18 is at an unprecedented level due to the contact load described above. Can be controlled.
- FIG. 26 shows the result of measurement of the relationship between the seal member width as the end seal material 5 and the penetration width of the toner 18 into the seal member 8.
- the penetration width of the toner 18 does not depend on the width of the seal member 8, and a sufficient seal can be achieved even if the seal member width is 2 mm. It has been confirmed.
- FIG. 27 shows an example of the width of an A4 size image forming unit in the conventional image forming apparatus 1
- FIG. 28 shows an image forming unit when the seal member 8 of the present invention used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention is used.
- Examples of the width are shown as (a) cleaning blade width 39b, (b) photoconductor width 34b, (c) developing roller width 2b, and (d) toner regulating blade width 41a, respectively.
- the end seal width 5 a of the end seal member 5 of the conventional developing roller 2 a is 5 mm. From the width, the end seal width 5a of the end seal material 5 used for each functional component of the present invention is 2.5 mm, which is half the conventional width.
- each functional component of the image forming apparatus 1 is used.
- the width can be reduced.
- the end seal width 5a of the end seal material 5 of the image forming apparatus 1 can be narrowed from 5 mm to 2.5 mm, for example, so that the width of both sides of the image forming apparatus 1 can be reduced by 5 mm in total.
- the image forming apparatus 1 also has a narrow internal component width, whereby the width of the entire apparatus can be reduced, and the size can be reduced as compared with the prior art.
- the size can be further reduced.
- FIG. 31 shows the state of toner intrusion into the end seal material 5.
- the mounting seat surface 43 of the end seal material 5 is shown in FIG. The reason why the diameter of the supply roller 42 shown in FIG. 29 is increased will be described below.
- the supply roller 42 shown in FIG. 29 is configured to contact the developing roller 2a.
- the shaft of the developing roller 2a and the shaft of the supply roller 42 must be set between the predetermined axes.
- a mounting seat surface 43 for attaching the end seal material 5 is required as shown in FIG.
- a predetermined contact width that is, a deformation width of the supply roller 42, FIG.
- the supply roller 42 must be as large as 15 mm in diameter. That is, the gap 32 between the developing roller 2a and the mounting seat surface 43 is 2 mm in FIG. 29A, but is 1 mm in FIG. 29B, and is 0.5 mm in FIG. 29C. When the diameter becomes narrower, the diameter of the supply roller 42 can be reduced from 15 mm in FIG. 29A to 13 mm in FIG. 29B and further to 12 mm in FIG. 29C. Therefore, determining the gap 32 between the developing roller 2a and the mounting seating surface 43 of the end seal material 5 is one of the factors that determine the size of the developing device section 48.
- the gap 32 between the mounting seat surface 43 and the developing roller 2a can be narrowed, the diameter of the supply roller 42 can be reduced and the size can be reduced.
- the minimum gap 32 is around 1.5 mm, usually around 2 mm, and the diameter of the supply roller 42 is accordingly larger than that of the present invention. It has become a thing.
- the gap 32 is narrowed by the conventional seal member 8 because there is no end seal material 5 that can seal the gap 32 at 1.5 mm or less with a low load. It is a situation that can not be. Further, if the conventional seal member 8 is forcibly attached to the narrow gap 32, the frictional force with the seal member 8 is increased, which increases the torque of the apparatus and conversely increases the cost of the apparatus. Further, since the rubbing force is increased, the end seal material 5 is peeled off, which causes a problem. Furthermore, if the rubbing force is too high, the surface of the developing roller 2a is likely to be damaged, and toner leakage occurs. For these reasons, the present situation has been reached and it has been desired to reduce the gap 32.
- the seal member 8 used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention will be described.
- the seal member 8 is a seal member 8 made of a woven fabric 12a, and is made up of a satin weave 9 and a plain weave 10 or a satin weave 9 and a twill weave 11, and a pile. It is a structure that does not have.
- a step 13 is provided between the plain weave 10 or the twill weave 11 serving as the concave portion 6 due to the close contact between the yarns in the portion of the satin weave 9 serving as the convex portion 7 or the thickness of the yarn used for the satin weave 9. . For this reason, as shown in the graph of FIG.
- the sealing performance can be sufficiently secured, and the thickness of the sealing member 8 can be reduced to about 0.15 mm. It has become. Further, Table 1 shows the results of investigations on the rebound elastic body 24, which is a foam having rebound resilience to be used.
- the graph of FIG. 30 shows the results of measuring the relationship between the compression ratio and the repulsive load per unit area, that is, the unit area load, for the foam which is the rebound elastic body 24. Based on these results, the thickness of the stripe seal member 8 that is the vertical stripe 14 is determined by using a monofilament of about 40 ⁇ m for the weft 17 and the warp 15 for the thickness of the plain weave 10 or twill weave 11 serving as the recess 6.
- a warp 15 made of, for example, 45 denier / 15 F yarn that is sweet-twisted with a long fiber having a diameter of about 20 ⁇ m so that the fiber is developed along the line of the weft yarn 17, and has a thickness of 80 ⁇ m (that is, (20 ⁇ m ⁇ 2) +40 ⁇ m) or less.
- the satin weave 9 of the convex portion 7 is made by using a sweet-twisted yarn (e.g., 24 denier (3D ⁇ 8F) yarn) of long fibers having a diameter of around 20 ⁇ m, thereby making the yarn diameter around 55 ⁇ m.
- the thickness becomes 150 ⁇ m, that is, ((55 ⁇ m ⁇ 2) +40 ⁇ m) of 0.15 mm, and a step 13 having a height of 0.07 mm can be obtained.
- the thickness of the seal member 8 can be 0.15 mm.
- a foam having a compression rate of 80% at 300 g / cm 2 or less and having a thickness of 1 mm is used, and a compression rate of 80% is 0.2 mm.
- FIG. 31A shows an attachment diagram of an example in which the toner 18 hardly enters the seal member 8
- FIG. 31B shows an installation diagram of an example in which the toner 18 easily enters.
- FIG. 31A shows the convex portion 7 and the developing roller. In the contact of 2a, even when only one convex portion 7 is in contact with the developing roller 2a, the convex portion 7 is inside in the region to be sealed.
- FIG. 31 (b) shows the convex portion 7 and the developing roller.
- the width corresponding to the distance by which the convex portion 7 is displaced outward is the width into which the toner 18 enters, and when the most downstream portion of the convex portion 7 is inside the member to be sealed, the toner to the sealing member 8 This is a case where 18 intrusions hardly occur. From this point, by constructing a plurality of convex portions 7 made of the satin weave 9 in contact with the toner carrier 2, the toner 18 can enter the member to be sealed without limiting the position of the convex portions 7. It is more preferable for prevention.
- FIG. 32 shows a reference diagram in which the cleaning device 39 used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention is unitized into a cleaning unit. 32A, the end seal material 5 is narrow, and FIG. 32B is wide. In this way, the apparatus in which the cleaning device 39 is unitized to form a cleaning unit can also be used as the image forming apparatus 1.
- a rotatable spacer pulley 45 is provided at the end of the developing roller 2a so as to keep a constant distance between the photosensitive drum 34a and the developing roller 2a at the end of the developing roller 2a. is there. At this end, the end seal material 5 and the spacer pulley 45 are in contact with each other at the width 45a. In such an apparatus, there is a case where the toner 18 is slightly scattered in the form of dust due to the rotation of the developing roller 2a carrying the developer or the toner 18.
- the spacer pulley 45 is in contact with the photosensitive member 34 in a freely rotatable manner, the spacer pulley 45 is in contact with the photosensitive drum 34a while crushing the scattered toner 18 on the surface of the photosensitive drum 34a. It is like that. For this reason, as time passes, the scattered toner 18 is compressed by the spacer pulley 45 to have a thickness. As a result, the distance between the photosensitive member 34 and the developing roller 2a is kept constant by the spacer pulley 45, and the toner 18 fixed to the photosensitive member 34 or the toner 18 fixed to the spacer pulley 45 is fixed. The distance between the photosensitive member 34 and the developing roller 2a is widened at the position where it is present.
- the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention uses the sealing member 8 having irregularities on the end seal material 5 of the cleaning device 39, that is, the seal member 8 is used as the end seal material 5 in the region where the spacer pulley 45 is in contact.
- the seal member 8 is used as the end seal material 5 in the region where the spacer pulley 45 is in contact.
- the width of the end seal material 5 of the cleaning device 39 is preferably slightly wider than the width of the region where the spacer pulley 45 is in contact with the photosensitive member 34.
- a fatty acid salt such as slidable metal soap or wax such as paraffin may be applied to the seal member 8.
- FIG. 34, 35, and 36 show a process unit 4 that is a process cartridge used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention.
- FIG. 34 shows a process unit 4 that can be replenished with toner and is formed as a unit 3.
- FIG. 35 shows the process unit 4 in which the photoconductor drum 47a having the photoconductor 34 as the unit 3 can be separated from the developing device 48.
- the photoconductor 47 does not have the cleaning device 39, and the toner 18 Sponge roller 46a which is a scatter roller for scatter, that is, scatter means comprising a conductive elastic roller.
- a conductive fixed brush 46c may be used.
- the process unit 4 in FIG. 36 is an integrated process cartridge, and the developing roller 2a and the photosensitive drum 34a are integrated into a unit.
- Table 2 shows the test results of the sealing performance in an actual machine when the fabric 12a of FIG. 1 having the step 13 shown in FIG.
- This fabric 12a is a warp 16 having a thickness shown in the table of the satin weave 9, a warp 15 having a thickness of 78T / 17F in a plain weave 10, and a polyamide (trade name nylon) having a thickness of 56T / 1F.
- the sealing member 8 is a stripe of the vertical stripe 14 shown in FIG. 1 having a step 13 woven from a weft 17 having a weft pitch of 0.4 mm. In this case, the surface speed of the toner carrier 2 is 250 mm / s.
- Examples 1 to 7 of Table 2 a foam having a resilience elastic body 24 is provided on the back surface of the sealing member 8 made of the fabric 12a, and a double-sided surface is provided on the back surface of the foam as shown in FIG. After the adhesive tape 25 was applied, the end seal material 5 was manufactured so that the regulation angle 27 as the stripe direction was 70 °.
- the surface speed of the toner carrier 2 is 250 mm / s.
- the repose angle ⁇ of the toner is 27 ° and the average particle diameter is 6 ⁇ m.
- Example 7 was tested using pulverized toner having a repose angle ⁇ of 38 ° and an average particle diameter of 8 ⁇ m. As shown in Table 2, as a result of proceeding the evaluation of the sealing performance using each sealing member 8 used in the image forming apparatus 1 of the present invention, even when the step 13 is 0.2 mm, the toner 18 is rotated during rotation. There is no leakage to the outside, the sealing property is good, and (OK) is a good result.
- Table 3 shows the test results of the sealing performance in an actual machine when a resin sheet having a step 13 is used for the end seal material 5.
- the surface speed of the toner carrier 2 in the test machine is 250 mm / s. That is, the foam which is a repulsive elastic body 24 is stuck on the back surface of the sealing member 8 formed from the striped fabric 12a having the step 13 composed of the concave portion 6 and the convex portion 7 in Table 3, and the double-sided adhesive is attached to the back surface of the foam body.
- the end seal material 5 is manufactured so that the stripe regulation angle 27 is 70 °, and the test is performed using a testing machine.
- the toner scraping angle ⁇ determined by the particle size of the toner 18, the diameter of the developing roller 2a, and the radius R of the toner scraping angle ⁇ is set to be larger than the repose angle ⁇ of the toner. It is clear that this is desirable.
- the seal member 8 can be stably manufactured by using a thread made of fibers having a stable diameter.
- seat is also possible.
- the seal member 8 is formed from the fabric 12a. Further, as described above, leakage during vibration can be prevented by appropriately setting the contact load and the step 13.
- Table 4 shows the results of Examples and Comparative Examples implemented using the image forming apparatuses 1 having different system speeds.
- the implemented contents are that the width of the seal member 8 is changed from 3 mm to 9 mm, and the seal member 8 is used as an end seal material for the developing roller 2 a which is a developer carrier 36 which is one of the toner carriers 2. 5 and the end seal material 5 of the cleaning blade 39a of the cleaning device 39, the test was performed, and the penetration width of the toner 18, the sealing property, and the image defect were evaluated items.
- the penetration amount that is, the penetration width of the toner 18 into the end seal material 5 of the developing roller 2a is 1 mm or less at any system speed in the embodiment. Further, image defects after printing are not seen at all, and are all good (OK) as indicated by ⁇ . Further, although not shown in the table, when the end seal material 5 of the cleaning blade 39a is used, the penetration width of the toner 18 is about 0 mm, and a good result is obtained in which no penetration is seen. Further, the shaft end portion of the monochrome developing roller 2a has good results even when the seal width of the end seal material 5 is 3 mm.
- Comparative Reference Examples 1 to 3 as a result of comparison with a genuine product of the image forming apparatus 1, in the conventional one, the toner 18 enters the end seal material 5 of the developing roller 2a of Comparative Reference Example 1.
