しかしながら、上記のように電動モータはリンク部材を介してピボットを駆動するため、ピボットの直下ではなく、側方に離間した位置に配置されている場合が殆どである。
本発明は、この様な問題を解決するためになされたもので、ピボットキャップ上から電動モータに到達しないように安定した排水が可能な車両のフロントワイパ装置の支持構造を提供することにある。
請求項3に記載の発明では、ピボットは、車両左右方向に離間して2個設けられ、電動モータは、2つのピボットの間に配置され、リンクを介して2つのピボットを往復回転駆動可能であり、2つのピボットキャップの突出部は、夫々底板部の車両左右方向内側の部位に配置された。
請求項2の発明によれば、開口部が、電動モータ側よりも電動モータの反対側の方に大きく開いて開口しているので、電動モータから離間した位置で多く開口部から水を排出することができ、電動モータへの水の到達を更に抑制することができる。
これにより、例えば車両が歩行者と衝突したときに歩行者がデッキガーニッシュ上に乗り上げた場合に、フロントワイパ装置の支持部の強度が抑えられているため、歩行者への衝撃を抑制することができる。
図1は、本発明の実施形態に係る車両1の前部外観形状を示す斜視図である。図2は、フロントワイパ装置の駆動部の構造を示す上面図である。図3及び図4は、フロントワイパ装置の支持部の構造を示す縦断面図であり、図3はピボットの軸心より電動モータ側にオフセットした位置で車両前後方向に切断した断面を示し、図4はピボットの軸心より電動モータとは反対側にオフセットした位置で車両前後方向に切断した断面を示す。
図2に示すように、左右のピボット12、12’の下部には、車両右後方に延びるブラケット13、13’が夫々設けられており、当該2つのブラケット13、13’の先端部が、デッキガーニッシュ3の下方に配置されたリンク部材14によって連結されている。また、デッキガーニッシュ3の下方には、電動モータ15が搭載されている。電動モータ15は、ピボット12、12’間を延びるステー16に固定されている。ステー16は、ピボット12、12’を回転可能に支持する軸受け17、17’間を連結するとともに、車体に固定されている。電動モータ15の出力軸と一方のブラケット13の先端部とは、リンク部材18により連結されており、電動モータ15の回転によって、リンク部材18を介して一方のブラケット13を左右方向に揺動するように構成されている。この一方のブラケット13の左右の揺動によって、リンク部材14を介して他方のブラケット13’も同期して左右に揺動する。したがって、電動モータ15の出力軸の回転により、2本のワイパアーム11、11’を左右に揺動する構成となっている。
したがって、フロントガラス2等を伝って、デッキガーニッシュ3上に流入した雨水等の水は、ワイパアームヘッド19、19’とデッキガーニッシュ3との隙間を通過して、デッキガーニッシュ3より下方に進入する虞があるが、ピボットキャップ30、30’がこの雨水等を受けてそれより下方への落下を防止する。
本実施形態では、ピボットキャップ30、30’からの排水を制御するために、ピボットキャップ30、30’の形状に特徴を有している。
図5~7に示すように、ピボットキャップ30、30’の鍔部33は、車両前方側となる部分が形成されておらず、即ち、鍔部33は、車両前方側の部位が開口して開口部34が設けられている。また、ピボットキャップ30、30’の底板部31は、車両前方側に延設するとともに、車両後方側より車両前方側が低い位置となるように傾斜して配置されている。
以上により、ピボットキャップ30、30’上に落下した雨水等は電動モータ15を避けた方向に排出されることとなり、雨水等の電動モータ15への到達を抑制することができる。これにより、電動モータ15の周囲に雨水よけを設けたり、電動モータ15の防水性を高めたりする必要がなくなり、部品コストの低下を図ることができる。
また、上記実施形態では、本願発明を2本のワイパアーム11、11’を備えた車両に適用しているが、1本あるいはその他複数のワイパアームを有する車両に対しても、同様に適用することが可能である。

- デッキガーニッシュに設けられた孔にピボットが挿通され、前記ピボットの上部にワイパアームの基端部が支持されるとともに、前記ピボットの下部を電動モータにより往復回転駆動可能であり、前記電動モータは前記デッキガーニッシュの下方に前記ピボットから車両左右方向に離間して配置され、
前記デッキガーニッシュの下方で前記ピボットの周囲を囲むピボットキャップを有する車両のフロントワイパ装置の支持構造であって、
前記ピボットキャップは、前記ピボットの周囲に配置されるとともに車両前後方向のいずれか一方側に延設される底板部と、前記底板部の縁部から上方に延びて前記底板部の周縁を囲む鍔部と、を備えており、
前記鍔部の前記底板部が延設される側の部位には、当該鍔部の一部が開口されて前記ピボットキャップ上の水を排水する開口部が設けられるとともに、
前記底板部の車両前後方向のうち前記延設された側と反対側かつ車両左右方向のうち前記電動モータ側の部位には、車両左右方向のうち前記電動モータとは反対側の部位より上方に突出する突出部が備えられていることを特徴とする。 - 請求項1に記載の車両のフロントワイパ装置の支持構造であって、
