Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pneumatic tire having excellent uneven wear resistance and low rolling resistance.
- tire rolling resistance is often generated in the rubber of the tread portion.
- the rubber used for the tread portion may be changed to one having a small loss tangent.
- this method is also known to sacrifice other performance, including wear resistance.
- a method of reducing the tread thickness can be easily considered in order to reduce the rubber that is a source of increasing rolling resistance.
- the problem is that the wear life of the tire cannot be ensured.
- JP 2006-327502 A proposes reducing the rolling resistance by devising the cross-sectional shape of the tire. This proposal surely reduces rolling resistance.
- the durability of the external appearance of the side portion is not sufficient, and more detailed tire design is required in order to achieve compatibility with other performance, particularly excellent wear resistance.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a pneumatic tire that has excellent wear resistance and low rolling resistance, and also ensures durability of the appearance of the side portion.
- Inventors are able to improve the expected performance by regulating the shape of the tire in detail, especially in the case of shape design, not only the shape of the outer surface of the tire but also the reinforcement that becomes the skeleton of the tire Since the shape of the structure has a great influence on the tire performance, we have learned that it is effective to regulate it individually. In other words, suppressing the shear deformation in the tire width direction cross section, particularly in the tread on the outer side in the width direction, reduces the rolling resistance as a result of energy loss due to this deformation, and the shear force and slip resulting from this deformation. It has been found that the wear often described can be improved at the same time.
- the durability of the appearance of the side portion of the tire which is often seen in tires with a flat beltline, by defining the folding height of the carcass ply, the above-mentioned wear resistance performance and rolling resistance reduction performance are not impaired.
- the present inventors have found that it can be improved and have completed the present invention.
- the durability of the appearance of the side portion can be further improved by providing the carcass ply reinforcing layer and defining the height of the bead filler.
- the gist of the present invention is as follows. Refer to FIG. 1 for the tire dimensions described later.
- a carcass comprising a carcass made of at least one layer of a carcass ply that lies in a toroidal shape between bead portions embedding a pair of bead cores and is folded from the inside to the outside in the tire width direction around the bead core.
- the ratio BD / BW is 0.01 or more and 0.04 or less
- the shortest distance CSEh from the tip of the folded portion of the at least one layer of the carcass ply to the line drawn to the bead toe parallel to the tire rotation axis is a line drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis at the maximum tire width position.
- the state in which the tire is mounted on the applicable rim is a state in which the tire is incorporated in a standard rim or other applicable rim defined in the Japan Automobile Tire Association Standard (JATMA), without applying internal pressure, or about 30 kPa. This means a state with an extremely low internal pressure of up to.
- JTMA Japan Automobile Tire Association Standard
- a carcass ply reinforcement layer is disposed on the outer side in the width direction of the carcass at the maximum width position of the tire,
- the ratio CRFw / CSH of the width CRFw of the carcass ply reinforcement layer to the distance CSH from the outermost radial direction of the carcass to the line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis on the bead toe is 0.2 or more and 0.6 or less
- the pneumatic tire according to (1) above, wherein the reinforcing element embedded in the carcass ply reinforcing layer is inclined at an angle of 30 ° or more and 90 ° or less with respect to the tire equatorial plane.
- the ratio BFh / CSH of the height BFh of the bead filler to the distance CSH from the outermost radial direction of the carcass to the line segment drawn bead toe in parallel with the tire rotation axis is 0.04 or more and 0.40.
- the ratio SWh / SH of the shortest distance SWh to the cross-sectional height SH of the tire is 0.5 or more and 0.8 or less, according to any one of (1) to (4) above Pneumatic tire.
- FIG. 2 shows a cross section in the width direction of a pneumatic tire (hereinafter referred to as a tire) according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
- the tire 6 of the present invention has a toroidal shape between bead portions in which a pair of bead cores 1 are embedded, and at least one layer formed by folding back around the bead core 1 from the inner side to the outer side in the tire width direction.
- the tread 5 is arranged on the outer side in the radial direction of the belt.
- the two inclined belt layers 3a and 3b are formed by covering a plurality of cords extending in a direction inclined with respect to the tire equatorial plane CL with rubber, and the circumferential belt layer 4 extends along the tire equatorial plane CL. A lot of cords are covered with rubber.
- the inclined belt layer may be a single layer, but in that case, it is preferable that the belt is constituted by a combination with at least one circumferential belt layer.
- Such a tire 6 is mounted on the application rim 7 and used.
- the center portion in the width direction of the outermost layer 3b (the tire equatorial plane CL) with respect to the width BW of the outermost layer 3b of the inclined belt layer.
- the ratio BD / BW of the diameter difference BD between the ends in the width direction is 0.01 or more and 0.04 or less.
- the inclined belt layer has a width that is 0.6 times or more the maximum width CSW of the main body 2h of the carcass 2.
- This definition means that the inclined belt layer has a small diameter difference in the width direction. That is, it shows that the belt is almost flat.
- the rolling resistance is dominated by the energy loss generated in the rubber of the tire tread part, and suppressing shear deformation in the cross section in the width direction, which is one of the deformations, reduces rolling resistance. It is valid.
- This shear deformation is indicated by a solid line in FIG. 3 before loading with an internal pressure of a radial tire (ratio BD / BW: 0.052) having a normal cross-sectional size of size 195/65 R15.
- the shortest distance (hereinafter also referred to as “folding height”) CSEh from the tip 2oE of the folded portion 2o of the carcass ply to the line drawn to the bead toe 10 in parallel with the rotation axis of the tire is the tire From a shortest distance (hereinafter also referred to as “maximum width height”) SWh between a line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis at the maximum width position Wmax and a line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis on the bead toe 10 It is important that the size is large. Hereinafter, the reason will be described.
- the bending due to the bending is concentrated on the side portion in order to reduce the deformation in the tread portion and reduce the energy loss of the tread portion. It is necessary to reduce the surface strain.
- the present inventors tried various ways to reduce the side surface distortion while keeping the side part deflection large, and made the folding height CSEh from the bead part of the carcass ply higher than the maximum width height SWh. Thus, it was confirmed that the distortion of the side surface layer portion can be suppressed.
- the carcass ply folded portion 2o is overlapped with the main body portion 2h of the carcass ply so as to be doubled so that the neutral axis of bending at this portion is on the surface layer side. It is moved. As a result, the distortion of the surface layer can be suppressed.
- a compressive stress acts on the inner side of the bending neutral axis, and a tensile stress acts on the outer side.
- Rubber has high rigidity against compressive stress but low rigidity against tensile stress. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 5 (a), if the distance d from the neutral axis of the bending to the side surface is large, the tensile strain acting on the outside of the neutral axis of the bending becomes large, so that this portion is likely to crack. . Therefore, as shown in FIG.
- the carcass ply is doubled at the maximum width position Wmax of the tire where the bending of the side portion is concentrated.
- the neutral axis of the bending can be moved to the surface layer side, and the distortion of the surface layer of the side portion can be suppressed.
- the turn-up height CSEh of the carcass ply is changed, the deflection of the entire tire is not greatly affected.
- the ratio CSEh / SWh of the folded height CSEh to the maximum width height SWh is greater than 1, but preferably 1.02 or more and 2.0 or less. More preferably, it is 1.02 or more and 1.25 or less.
- the ratio CSEh / SWh is 1, that is, when the tip 2oE of the folded portion 2o of the carcass ply is at the maximum width position Wmax, the tip 2oE is located at the center of bending, and the tip 2oE is the starting point and cracks. May occur. Therefore, it is important that the ratio CSEh / SWh is greater than 1.
- the lower limit of the preferred range of the ratio CSEh / SWh is 1.02 is that the folding height CSEh varies slightly due to manufacturing, and the folding height CSEh always exceeds the maximum width height SWh.
- the upper limit of the preferred range of the ratio CSEh / SWh is set to 2.0 because the effect of suppressing surface distortion is not improved even if the folding height CSEh is further increased beyond the maximum width height SWh. is there.
- this ratio exceeds 2.0, the tip 2oE of the folded portion 2o of the carcass ply has a positional relationship exceeding the belt end.
- the folded portion 2o is excessively large, the deflection is also affected, and there is a possibility that the riding comfort is deteriorated due to an increase in the vertical spring. It is confirmed from the examples described later that the effect of the present invention can be sufficiently obtained when the ratio CSEh / SWh is 1.25.
- the maximum width position Wcmax of the main body portion 2h of the carcass 2 with respect to the distance CSH from the radially outermost side of the carcass 2 to the line segment drawn on the bead toe 10 in parallel with the rotation axis of the tire is 0.6 or more and 0.9 or less. preferable. More desirably, it is 0.7 or more and 0.8 or less.
- the carcass line of the tire side portion has a locally bent region at a position close to the road surface, and the bending rigidity is reduced at this portion. Then, since the periphery of the bent portion, which is on the outer side in the width direction than the belt width, is greatly deformed under load, deformation at the tread portion is reduced. That is, the shear deformation in the cross section can be reduced in the tread. As a result of various trials of dimensions for effectively reducing deformation during loading, it was found that the ratio CSWh / CSH was 0.6 or more and 0.9 or less.
- the ratio SWh / SH of the maximum width height SWh to the tire cross-section height SH is preferably 0.5 or more and 0.8 or less. More preferably, it is 0.6 or more and 0.75 or less.
- the side portion is no exception.
- the side rubber is thinned. If it is obvious that the side rubber can be eliminated, this dimension indicates the same position as the maximum width of the carcass line.
- the maximum width position of the side part at this time is compared with the tire cross section height, It was found to be in the ratio range.
- the design of the vulcanization mold is also an important point, so it is necessary as a tire design method to define it as the outer surface dimension.
- the carcass 2 is composed of two layers of carcass plies 2a and 2b, and the turn-up height CSEh of the carcass ply 2a disposed on the radially innermost side is greater than the maximum width height SWh.
- the carcass 2 includes two layers of carcass plies 2 a and 2 b, and the folding height CSEh of both the carcass plies 2 a and 2 b is larger than the maximum width height SWh. As shown in FIG. 6 and FIG.
- the folding height CSEh of the innermost carcass ply 2a is larger than the maximum width height SWh.
- the carcass ply is triple or more, and the neutral axis of bending at this position can be moved to the surface layer side to suppress the distortion of the surface layer of the side portion.
- the bead toe 10 is parallel to the tire rotation axis from the radially outermost side of the carcass ply 2a of the innermost layer.
- a line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis at the maximum width position Wcmax of the main body of the carcass ply 2a and a line segment drawn to the bead toe 10 parallel to the tire rotation axis with respect to the distance CSH to the line C It is preferable that the ratio CSWh / CSH of the shortest distance CSWH is 0.6 or more and 0.9 or less.
- FIG. 8 shows a cross-section in the width direction of a tire according to the second embodiment of the present invention.
- the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 is disposed on the outer side in the width direction of the carcass 2 so as to cover the maximum width position Wmax of the tire at the maximum width position Wmax of the tire.
- the ratio CRFw / CSH of the width CRFw of the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 to the distance CSH from the radially outermost side of the carcass 2 to the line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis on the bead toe 10 is 0.2 or more and 0.
- the reinforcing element embedded in the carcass ply reinforcing layer 8 is inclined at an angle of 30 ° or more and 90 ° or less with respect to the tire equatorial plane CL.
- the carcass ply reinforcing layer 8 is disposed on the outer side in the width direction of the folded portion 2o of the carcass ply.
- the carcass ply reinforcing layer 8 is disposed between the folded portion 2o of the carcass ply and the main body 2h. May be arranged.
- the carcass ply turn-up portion 2o is overlaid on the carcass ply main body portion 2h, and further, the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 is disposed at this portion.
- the neutral axis of bending is moved to the surface layer side. As a result, the distortion of the surface layer can be suppressed.
- the ratio CRFw / CSH of the width CRFw of the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 to the distance CSH from the radially outermost side of the carcass 2 to the line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis on the bead toe 10 is 0.2 or more and 0. .6 or less is preferable.
- the ratio CRFw / CSH is less than 0.2, the width CRFw of the carcass ply reinforcing layer 8 is narrow and does not make sense as a reinforcing layer.
- the width CRFw of the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 is wide, and in many cases, the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 is in contact with any one of the inclined belt layers 3a and 3b and the circumferential belt layer 4. Overlapping positional relations may affect the tire deflection and may cause a deterioration in riding comfort due to an increase in vertical springs. Furthermore, the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 is preferably disposed at a position where the center position of the carcass ply reinforcement layer 8 in the tire radial direction substantially coincides with the maximum width position Wmax of the tire.
- the reinforcing element embedded in the carcass ply reinforcing layer 8 is inclined at an angle of 30 ° to 90 ° with respect to the tire equatorial plane CL. This is because, when the inclination angle of the reinforcing element is less than 30 °, the deflection of the tire is affected, and the ride comfort may be deteriorated due to an increase in the vertical spring.
- the reinforcing element is preferably made of a material having an elastic modulus comparable to that of the element embedded in the carcass 2. This is because the use of a member having a high elastic modulus, such as a steel cord, affects the deflection of the tire and may cause a deterioration in riding comfort due to an increase in the vertical spring.
- FIG. 9 shows a cross section in the width direction of a tire according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
- the ratio BFh / CSH of the height BFh of the bead filler 9 to the distance CSH from the radially outermost side of the carcass 2 to the line segment drawn parallel to the tire rotation axis on the bead toe 10 is 0. 0.04 to 0.40.
- the height BFh of the bead filler 9 is a distance from the outermost radial direction of the bead filler 9 to a line segment drawn on the bead toe 10 in parallel with the tire rotation axis.
- the carcass ply body portion 2h is overlapped with the folded portion 2o of the carcass ply to reinforce the portion, and the bead filler 9 is further reduced, Since the bending deformation at the time of loading is borne by the entire side portion, it is avoided that the bending deformation concentrates on the maximum width position Wmax of the tire. As a result, the distortion of the surface layer at the maximum width position Wmax can be suppressed.
- the reason why the lower limit of the ratio BFh / CSH is set to 0.04 is that it is difficult to manufacture a bead filler smaller than this.
- the reason why the upper limit of the ratio BFh / CSH is set to 0.40 is due to an example described later.
- the tire can be reduced in weight, which can contribute to further reduction in fuel consumption of the automobile.
- Conventional tires of the size 195 / 65R15, invention tires and comparative tires were prototyped according to the specifications shown in Table 1-1 to Tables 1-3, and endurance performance tests for the occurrence of cracks on the side of each prototype tire were made. A rolling resistance test and an abrasion resistance performance test were conducted and will be described below.
- Conventional tires have the tire shape and structure shown in FIG.
- Inventive tires 1-1 to 1-9 and comparative tires 1-1 and 1-2 all have the tire shape and structure shown in FIG. 2, and the height CSEh and the maximum width height of the folded portion of the carcass ply. SWh is changed.
- the thickness from the tire inner surface to the tire outer surface at the tire maximum width position Wmax is substantially the same.
- Each of the inventive tires 2-1 to 2-12 has the tire shape and structure shown in FIG. 8, and the width CRFw of the carcass ply reinforcing layer 8 and the inclination angle of the reinforcing element are changed.
- Each of the inventive tires 3-1 to 3-11 has the tire shape and structure shown in FIG. 9, and the height BFh of the bead filler 9 is changed.
- the endurance test for the occurrence of cracks in the side part was carried out by mounting each test tire on a standard rim, adjusting the internal pressure to 210 kPa, and then loading conditions 2.5 times the normal load (conditions that promote the occurrence of side cracks) Below, the running distance until a crack generate
- Rolling resistance test In the rolling resistance test, each test tire was mounted on a standard rim, the internal pressure was adjusted to 210 kPa, and then the axle rolling was performed using a drum testing machine (speed: 80 km / h) having a steel plate surface with a diameter of 1.7 m. This was done by determining the resistance. The rolling resistance was measured according to ISO18164, using a smooth drum and force type. The measurement results shown in Table 1-1 to Table 1-3 are indexed with the rolling resistance of the conventional tire as 100, and the smaller the value, the lower the rolling resistance.
- the longitudinal spring performance is a value obtained by measuring the amount of deflection at the time of rolling resistance test and indexing the spring calculated by “load / deflection amount” with the example tire 1-1 as 100.
- the value is large. It shows that it is hard to bend. That is, it means that the smaller the value is, the more flexible and the ride comfort is.
- the amount of deflection is determined by the tire shaft height when there is no load minus the shaft height when the load is applied.

Abstract
