トリアリールアミンやジアリールアミンを合成する方法としては、例えばハロゲン化アリールとモノアリールアミンとを銅触媒を用いて反応させる方法が知られており、このような反応は、ウルマン(Ullmann)反応として呼ばれている(例えば、非特許文献1参照)。
しかしながらウルマン反応では、高い反応温度を要するため、得られる芳香族アミノ化合物(例えば、トリアリールアミンやジアリールアミン)の着色が著しく、副生成物も多量に生成し、その収率が一般的に低いという欠点がある。また、得られた芳香族アミノ化合物の精製にも多大な労力を費やす必要があり、製造コストが高くなるという欠点があった。
また、1,1’-ビナフチル-2,2’-ジオールを添加して反応を行う例も報告されている(例えば、非特許文献5参照)。
これらの例では、温和な条件で反応を行うことができる上に、目的物を収率良く得ることができる。しかしながら、添加する化合物が高価であり、製造方法としてコスト的な問題が残っているため、実用化への妨げとなっている。
また、クラウンエーテルを添加して反応系の塩基性度を上げて反応させる方法も知られている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。しかしながら、クラウンエーテルも高価な化合物であり、コスト的に有利な製造方法とはいえず実用性に乏しい。

上記の反応式は、原料のハロゲン化芳香族化合物として、ハロゲン原子を一個または二個有するものを用いた場合の例であるが、三個以上のハロゲン原子を有するハロゲン化芳香族化合物を用いた場合にも上記と同様に各ハロゲン原子にアミノ基が反応して、対応する芳香族アミノ化合物が得られることは容易に理解されよう。
尚、原料アミン化合物が有している基Rが水素原子である場合、例えばモノアリールアミンである場合には、上記の反応式によれば、ジアリールアミンが得られるが、このジアリールアミンは、NH基を有しているため、さらにウルマン反応を実行することにより、トリアリールアミンが合成されることとなる。
1.アミン化合物
本発明において、原料として用いられるアミン化合物は、

で表される。即ち、上記一般式(1)中の窒素原子に結合している水素原子がハロゲン化芳香族化合物のハロゲン原子と反応して脱離することにより、ハロゲン化芳香族化合物中の芳香族環基がカップリングするわけである。
上記一般式(1)において、R及びArが示す芳香族環基には、芳香族炭化水素基及び芳香族複素環基がある。
芳香族複素環基の例としては、ピリジル基、トリアジル基、ピリミジル基、フラニル基、ピロニル基、チオフェニル基、キノリル基、イソキノリル基、ベンゾフラニル基、ベンゾチオフェニル基、インドリル基、カルバゾリル基、ベンゾオキサゾリル基、ベンゾチアゾリル基、キノキサリル基、ベンゾイミダゾリル基、ピラゾリル基、ジベンゾフラニル基、ジベンゾチオフェニル基、ナフチリジニル基、フェナントロリニル基、アクリジニル基などを挙げることができる。
上記のアミン化合物と反応させるハロゲン化芳香族化合物は芳香族環基に1または2以上のハロゲン原子が置換基として結合している化合物であり、このような芳香族環基には、前記一般式(1)と同様、芳香族炭化水素基及び芳香族複素環基がある。
芳香族複素環基の例としては、例えばピリジル基、トリアジル基、ピリミジル基、フラニル基、ピロニル基、チオフェニル基、キノリル基、イソキノリル基、ベンゾフラニル基、ベンゾチオフェニル基、インドリル基、カルバゾリル基、ベンゾオキサゾリル基、ベンゾチアゾリル基、キノキサリル基、ベンゾイミダゾリル基、ピラゾリル基、ジベンゾフラニル基、ジベンゾチオフェニル基、ナフチリジニル基、フェナントロリニル基、アクリジニル基、及び結合しているハロゲン原子の数に応じてこれらの基に対応する2価、3価、4価などの多価の基を挙げることができる。
本発明において、銅触媒としては、特に限定されるものではなく、ウルマン反応に使用されている公知のものが使用できる。その具体例としては、銅粉、塩化第一銅、塩化第二銅、臭化第一銅、臭化第二銅、ヨウ化銅、酸化第一銅、酸化第二銅、硫酸銅、硝酸銅、炭酸銅、酢酸銅、水酸化銅などを挙げることができ、銅粉、塩化第一銅、臭化第一銅、ヨウ化銅などが特に好ましい。
塩基は脱ハロゲン化のために使用されるものであり、特に限定されるものではないが、例えば炭酸アルカリ金属塩類、リン酸アルカリ金属塩類、水酸化アルカリ金属類、水酸化アルカリ土類金属類、金属アルコキシドなどを使用することができる。
リン酸アルカリ金属塩類の例としては、リン酸ナトリウム、リン酸カリウム、リン酸セシウム、リン酸リチウムなどが挙げられる。
水酸化アルカリ金属類の例としては、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化リチウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化セシウムなどが挙げられる。
水酸化アルカリ土類金属の例としては、水酸化バリウムなどが挙げられる。
金属アルコキシドの例としては、ナトリウムメトキシド、ナトリウムエトキシド、ナトリウム-tert-ブトキシド、カリウム-tert-ブトキシドなどが挙げられる。
本発明においては、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、リン酸カリウム、炭酸カリウムが特に好適に使用される。
塩基の量が上記範囲よりも少ない場合には、得られる芳香族アミノ化合物の収率が低くなり、また、反応に用いられる塩基を大過剰に加えても、得られる芳香族アミノ化合物の収率に影響はないが、反応終了後の後処理操作が煩雑になり好ましくない。
本発明においては、上述した銅触媒及び塩基と共に、ヒドロキシ基とヒドロキシカルボニル基とが互いに隣接する炭素原子に結合している芳香族オキシカルボン酸、例えば下記一般式(2)で表される芳香族オキシカルボン酸を共存させて、前記アミン化合物とハロゲン化芳香族化合物とを反応させる。
これらのアルキル基としては、メチル基、エチル基、n-プロピル基、イソプロピル基、n-ブチル基、2-メチルプロピル基、tert-ブチル基、n-ペンチル基、3-メチルブチル基、ネオペンチル基、tert-ペンチル基、2-メチルブチル基、n-ヘキシル基、4-メチルペンチル基、3-メチルペンチル基、エチルブチル基を例示することができる。

本発明においては、酸化物の副生を防止するため、必要に応じて亜硫酸塩化合物もしくはチオ硫酸塩化合物を添加することができる。
亜硫酸塩化合物の例としては、亜硫酸ナトリウム、亜硫酸水素ナトリウム、亜硫酸カリウム、亜硫酸水素カリウム、亜硫酸マグネシウム、亜硫酸セシウム、亜硫酸バリウム、亜硫酸水素アンモニウムなどが挙げられる。
チオ硫酸塩化合物の例としては、チオ硫酸ナトリウム、亜ジチオン酸ナトリウム、ピロ亜硫酸ナトリウム、ピロ亜硫酸アンモニウム、ピロ亜硫酸カリウムなどが挙げられる。
銅触媒、塩基及び芳香族オキシカルボン酸の共存下でのアミン化合物とハロゲン化芳香族化合物との反応は一般に溶媒中で行われるが、無溶媒下で反応を行うことも可能である。
上記の溶媒としては、反応を阻害しない限り特に限定されるものではないが、例えば脂肪族炭化水素系溶媒、芳香族炭化水素系溶媒、エーテル系溶媒、アミド系溶媒、スルホキシド系溶媒などが挙げられる。これらは、単独で使用しても2種類以上を混合して使用しても良い。原料であるアミン化合物、ハロゲン化芳香族化合物および本発明のヒドロキシ基とヒドロキシカルボニル基とが互いに隣接する炭素原子に結合している芳香族オキシカルボン酸を溶解する溶媒が好ましい。
芳香族炭化水素系溶媒の例としては、トルエン、キシレン、メシチレン、エチルベンゼン、ジエチルベンゼン、ジイソプロピルベンゼン、ヘキシルベンゼン、オクチルベンゼン、ドデシルベンゼン、メチルナフタレン、ジメチルナフタレン、1,2,3,4-テトラヒドロナフタレン、ニトロベンゼンなどが挙げられる。
エーテル系溶媒の例としては、1,4-ジオキサン、アニソール、ジフェニルエーテルなどが挙げられる。
アミド系溶媒の例としては、ジメチルホルムアミド、ジメチルアセトアミド、N-メチルピロリドン、1,3-ジメチル-2-イミダゾリジノンなどが挙げられる。

尚、精製は、カラムクロマトグラフィー法、シリカゲル、活性炭、活性白土などによる吸着分離法、再結晶ないし晶析法などにより行うことができる。
この方法で用いる芳香族オキシカルボン酸、例えば2-ヒドロキシベンゼンカルボン酸などは安価に入手可能であり、また、特別な操作や装置も必要とすることなく反応を実行することができるため、製造コスト的に有利であり、工業的実施の観点から極めて有用である。

モノヨード体(中間体): 0.75%
濃縮物にヘキサンを加えて、析出した結晶をろ過によって採取し、得られた粗結晶をトルエン/ヘキサンの混合溶媒を用いた晶析による精製を行い、目的とする4,4’-ビス{(ビフェニル-4-イル)-フェニルアミノ}ビフェニル 8.46g(収率91.7%)の粉体を得た。

窒素置換した反応容器に下記の化合物を添加混合した。
9,9-ビス(4-ヨードフェニル)フルオレン
30.0g(52.6ミリモル)
4-(ジフェニルアミノ-ビフェニル-4’-イル)-
フェニルアミン 52.09g(126.3ミリモル)
銅粉 0.34g(5.35ミリモル)
3,5-ジ(tert-ブチル)-2-ヒドロキシベンゼンカルボン
酸 1.34g(5.35ミリモル)
炭酸カリウム 21.81g(157.8ミリモル)
亜硫酸水素ナトリウム 1.65g(15.8ミリモル)
ドデシルベンゼン 50ml
銅粉 0.34g(5.35ミリモル)
炭酸カリウム 7.26g(52.5ミリモル)
を追加し、さらに200℃で6時間攪拌を行った。
反応終了後、得られた反応溶液をHPLC分析することによって反応の終点を確認した。HPLC分析装置としては以下の仕様のものを用いた。

亜硫酸水素ナトリウム 1.37g(13.1ミリモル)
ドデシルベンゼン 20ml
反応終了後、得られた反応溶液をHPLC分析することによって反応の終点を確認した。HPLC分析装置としては以下の仕様のものを用いた。

実施例1において、原料などの仕込み量をそれぞれ2倍とし、3,5-ジ(tert-ブチル)-2-ヒドロキシベンゼンカルボン酸を加えない以外は、実施例1と同様の条件で反応を行った。
反応の終点における反応溶液について、実施例1と同一の測定条件でHPLC分析を行った。
4,4’-ビス{(ビフェニル-4-イル)-フェニルアミノ}
ビフェニル(目的物): 87.9%
4,4’-ジヨードビフェニル(原料): 0.55%
モノヨード体(中間体): 0.32%
実施例2において、3,5-ジ(tert-ブチル)-2-ヒドロキシベンゼンカルボン酸を加えない以外は、実施例2と同様の条件で反応を行った。
即ち、窒素置換した反応容器に以下の化合物を添加混合した。

4-(ジフェニルアミノ-ビフェニル-4’-イル)-
フェニルアミン 52.09g(126.3ミリモル)

反応溶液について、実施例2と同様の測定条件でHPLC分析を行った。

Claims (7)
- 下記一般式(1):
R-NH-Ar (1)
式中、Rは水素原子または芳香族環基であり、
Arは芳香族環基である、
で表されるアミン化合物とハロゲン化芳香族化合物とを原料として使用し、該アミン化合物とハロゲン化芳香族化合物とを、銅触媒及び塩基の存在下で反応させて、該アミン化合物のアミノ基に該ハロゲン芳香族化合物に由来する芳香族環基がカップリングした構造を有する芳香族アミノ化合物を製造する方法において、
ヒドロキシ基とヒドロキシカルボニル基とが互いに隣接する炭素原子に結合している芳香族オキシカルボン酸が、前記銅触媒及び塩基と共存する条件下で、前記アミン化合物とハロゲン化芳香族化合物とを反応させることを特徴とする芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。 - 前記ハロゲン化芳香族化合物のハロゲン原子がヨウ素、臭素、または塩素である請求項1に記載の芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。
- 前記ハロゲン化芳香族化合物がヨウ素化アリール、臭素化アリールまたは塩素化アリールである請求項2記載の芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。
- 前記原料アミン化合物がモノアリールアミンまたはジアリールアミンである請求項1記載の芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。
- 前記芳香族オキシカルボン酸が、下記一般式(2):
ル基、炭素原子数5ないし8のシクロアルキル基、炭素原子
数2ないし6のアルケニル基、炭素原子数2ないし6のアル
キニル基、炭素原子数1ないし6のアルキルオキシ基、炭素
原子数5ないし8のシクロアルキルオキシ基、炭素原子数1
ないし6のアルキル基または芳香族炭化水素基を、置換基と
して有するジ置換アミノ基、ヒドロキシ基、ホルミル基、ア
ルコキシカルボニル基、ヒドロキシカルボニル基、シアノ基
、ニトロ基、トリフルオロメチル基、フッ素原子、アリール
オキシ基、芳香族炭化水素基または芳香族複素環基を表し、
R1とR2、R2とR3、R3とR4が互いに結合して環を形成
しても良い、
で表される化合物である請求項1記載の芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。 - 前記一般式(2)において、基R1~R4の少なくとも1つが、炭素原子数1ないし6の直鎖状もしくは分岐状のアルキル基、炭素原子数5ないし8のシクロアルキル基、芳香族炭化水素基または芳香族複素環基である、請求項5記載の芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。
- 前記芳香族オキシカルボン酸が3,5-ジ-tert-ブチル-2-ヒドロキシベンゼンカルボン酸である請求項6記載の芳香族アミノ化合物の製造方法。
