Definitions
- the present invention relates to a urethane copolymer polycarbonate resin excellent in mechanical properties, optical properties and electrophotographic characteristics, and an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in durability containing the urethane copolymer polycarbonate resin as a binder resin in a photosensitive layer. It is about.
- Polycarbonate resin has been used as a raw material for molded products in various industrial fields because of its excellent mechanical properties, thermal properties, and electrical properties. In recent years, the polycarbonate resin has also been frequently used in the field of functional products using the optical properties and the like. With the expansion of such application fields, the required performance for polycarbonate resins has also diversified. In order to meet such demands, the conventional polycarbonate resin made from 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, 1,1-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexane, etc., has been used. Polycarbonate resins having various chemical structures have been proposed because sufficient measures may not be possible. However, since there are required characteristics peculiar to various applications, there is a demand for the development of a polycarbonate resin having performance that satisfies these requirements.
- an organic electrophotographic photosensitive member in which a photosensitive layer using a polycarbonate resin as a binder resin for a charge generation material or a charge transport material is formed on a conductive substrate.
- the organic electrophotographic photoreceptor is required to have predetermined sensitivity, electrical characteristics, and optical characteristics according to the applied electrophotographic process.
- operations such as corona charging, toner development, transfer to paper, and cleaning treatment are repeatedly performed on the surface of the photosensitive layer. Is added. Therefore, in order to maintain the image quality of electrophotography over a long period of time, the photosensitive layer provided on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor is required to have durability against these external forces.
- polycarbonate resins made from 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, 1,1-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexane and the like have been used as binder resins for electrophotographic photoreceptors.
- the durability was not satisfactory. Therefore, various methods have been taken to meet such demands.
- a copolymerization technique As an effective technique for improving the abrasion resistance of the photosensitive layer, a copolymerization technique has been studied so far.
- the urethane group introduction method is a method of introducing an —O—CO—NH— structure into a polycarbonate copolymer.
- Urethane resin is originally composed of soft and hard segments, and the soft and hard toughness is achieved by the balance between hard segments that are strongly agglomerated by the strong hydrogen bonds between the urethane groups, which are the bonding units, and the flexible soft segments. It also has elasticity.
- a hard segment is constituted by a urethane group
- a soft segment is constituted by a main chain constitution other than the urethane group.
- the urethane-based polycarbonate resin obtained by copolymerizing an aliphatic diamine monomer disclosed in Patent Document 1 with a bisphenol oligomer has an electrophotographic photosensitive member in spite of having the characteristics of hard and soft segments unique to the urethane resin. It did not show wear resistance more than expected as a binder resin.
- an aromatic urethane-based polycarbonate resin obtained by copolymerizing a phenol monoamine monomer with a bisphenol oligomer has also been reported, but no significant effect on the wear resistance was found.
- the present invention has been made under such circumstances, and provides a urethane-based polycarbonate resin having high wear resistance by making good use of the strong hydrogen bonds between urethane groups.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an electrophotographic photosensitive member produced using polycarbonate, which has high abrasion resistance and maintains excellent electrophotographic characteristics over a long period of time. Furthermore, it is an object to provide a coating solution for an electrophotographic photoreceptor for producing such an electrophotographic photoreceptor.

- PC-C3 polycarbonate resin
- Comparative Example 3 It is known that the polycarbonate resin used in Comparative Example 3 is excellent in electrophotographic characteristics. Since each Example shown in Table 2 has the same electrophotographic characteristics as Comparative Example 3, it can be seen that the electrophotographic photosensitive member using the urethane copolymer PC of the present invention has excellent electrophotographic characteristics. On the other hand, Comparative Example 3 is inferior in wear resistance.
- the urethane copolymer polycarbonate resin of the present invention provides a strong hydrogen bond at regular intervals by arranging urethane groups at both ends of the monomer unit, and a binder for organic photoreceptors.
- High abrasion resistance is achieved as a resin. This is good even when the wear resistance is compared with the same primary skeleton polycarbonate resin, but the effect is further exhibited in the photosensitive layer state containing additives such as CTM.
- the urethane copolymer PC of the present invention has high wear resistance by making good use of the strong hydrogen bond between urethane groups. Therefore, by using this urethane copolymer PC, high wear resistance is achieved. It is possible to provide an electrophotographic photosensitive member that has excellent electrophotographic characteristics over a long period of time.

Abstract
