Abstract

本発明により、アクリロニトリルと、発煙硫酸と、イソブチレンとを反応させる２－アクリルアミド－２－メチルプロパンスルホン酸（ＡＴＢＳ）の製造方法であって、反応中に反応系に存在する２－メチル－２－プロペニル－１－スルホン酸（ＩＢＳＡ）及び／又は２－メチリデン－１，３－プロピレンジスルホン酸（ＩＢＤＳＡ）の濃度を測定し、ＩＢＳＡの濃度が１２０００質量ｐｐｍを超える場合、及び／又はＩＢＤＳＡの濃度が６０００質量ｐｐｍを超える場合に反応系内の三酸化硫黄の濃度を低減させることにより、ＩＢＳＡの含有量が１００質量ｐｐｍ以下、及びＩＢＤＳＡの含有量が１００質量ｐｐｍ以下のＡＴＢＳの製造方法が開示される。
