Abstract

【課題】 ボールジョイントの製造でソケットの壁の径を縮小するとき、ソケットの外面にパーティングラインや皺が発生せず、ソケットとボール部間のクリアランスを適正に制御する。 【解決手段】  ボールジョイント10のボール部14がソケット16内に収容された状態で、ボール部14をもつ第1部材12とソケット16をもつ第2部材15とが支持される。一対の金型20、30が、ソケット16の開口17を囲む壁18を径方向外側から挟み、接近と離反の小刻みな振動を繰り返しつつ徐々に接近していき壁18を径方向内方へ断続的に押圧する。断続的な押圧の各インターバルに、支持回転装置40が、ソケット16(第2部材15)をその中心軸C2を中心に小距離だけ回転させる。結果として、金型20、30が、ソケット16の壁18の外面上の全周にわたる多数の点を逐次に押圧して、ソケット16の壁18が内側に曲げられ径が縮小する。
