<10 >真空紫外線励繊光軒として、 く 5 >記載の蛍光体の棚。 発明を実施するための形態 本発明の複合金属酸化物は、 金属元素として、 (l)Ba、 Caおよ Mgから選ばれるァ ルカリ土類金属元素、 G)アルミニウム (A1) 、 (3)希土類 素およびマンガンからなる群 より選ばれる少なくとも 1つ (M) を含む。
複合金属酸化物は、 B a: C a: Mg: A 1 : Mのモル比を a: b: c: d: eとしたと き、 aは 0. 3以上 8以下、 好ましくは 0. 5以上 6以下の範囲であり、 bは 0以上 12. 5未満の範囲であり、 cは 0以上 12. 5未満の範囲であり、 a + b + cは 11以上 13以 下の範囲であり、 dは 13以上 15以下の範囲であり、 eは 0. 0001以上 1. 0以下、 好ましくは 0. 0001以上 0. 5以下の範囲である。 eは、 弓艘の観点から、 好まし くは 0. 001以上である。 一方、 eは、 難コストの観点から、 好ましくは 0. 1以下で ある。
複合金属酸化物では、 希土類 素およびマンガンからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも 1つ である Mが、 の元素として中心的な役割、 レ ゆる ίォ活剤としての役割を果たす。 Μと は、 例えば、 Eu、 Ce、 Pr、 Nd、 Sm、 Tb、 Dy、 Er、 Tm、 Yb、 B i、 Mn であり、 発光輝度をより高める観点から、 好ましくは、 Eu、 Tbである。 これらは戦虫で あっても組^ であってもよい。 Mは、 魏輝度をさらに高める観点から、 Eu職、 Tb Miであることが好ましい。 また、 Mが EuMi、 Tb» または Euと Tbの組^:で ある i給、 度を特に高くする観点から、 Euまたは Tbの^ ¾を共仲活剤で置換して もよい。 共 活剤は、 例えば、 Sc、 Y、 La、 Gd、 Ce、 Pr、 Nd、 Pm、 Sm、 D y、 Ho、 Er、 Tm、 Yb、 Lu、 B i、 Au、 Ag、 Cu、 Mnである。 これらは職 であっても組^:であってもよい。 置換の割合は、 通常、 Euおよび Zまたは Tbの 50モ ル%以下である。
複合金属酸化物は、 より魏輝度を高める観点から、 次の (1)、 (Π)、 (III)のいずれかを 満足することが好ましく、 (1)、 (II)および (III)を満足することがより好ましい。 P T/JP2007/072706
(I) cは 0であること、
(II) a + b + cは 12であること、
(III) dは 14であること。
前述のとおり、 aが 0. 5以上 6以下の範囲であれば、 発光輝度が高くなり、 (1)、 (11)、 ail)を満足する場合にも輝度が向上する。 このとき、 b= 12— aである。 (1) 、 (Π) および(III) を満足する複合金属酸化物は、 バリウム (Ba) 、 カルシウム (Ca) 、 ァ ルミニゥム (A1) およ 素 (O) が、 かご状の結晶職を形成し、 そのかごの中に、 付 活剤としての役割を果たす Mが る iiを有し、 この複合金属酸化物を含 る蛍光体 は、 励起源から照射されるエネルギーを、 かご状の結晶職が ¾1率よく吸収し、 吸収したェ ネルギーを仲活剤に効率よく することで、 度をより高くできると本発明者らは推 測している。 複合金属酸化物は、 例えば、 «により複合金属酸化物となり得る、 金属化合物の混合物 を る方法により i¾iすればよい。 具体的には、 複合金属酸化物を構 Stする金属元素を 含有する化合物を所定の糸滅となるように秤量し、 混合して金属化合物の混合物を得、 混合 物を «する方法、 または、 晶析法〖こより金厨匕合物の混合物を得、 混合物を fe¾する方法 により ¾ すればよい。 例えば、 B a: C a: A 1 : Euのモル比が 1 : 11 : 14 : 0. 05である複合金属酸化物は、 C a C〇3、 B a C〇3、 A 123、 E u203の各原料を秤量し、 混合して B a: C a: A 1 : Euのモル比が 1 : 11 : 14 : 0. 05である金属化合物の 混合物を得、 混合物を することにより製造すればよい。
金属元素を含 る化合物は、 Ba、 Ca、 Mg、 Al、 Mの化合物であればよく、 例え ば、 これらの酸化物、 または、 高温で および Zまたは酸化して酸化物になる、 これらの 水酸化物、 炭 m^、 薩塩、 ハロゲン化物、 シユウ ^^などである。
また、 金属元素を含有する化合物として、 フッ化物、 塩化物等のハロゲン化物を用いても よい。 ハロゲン化物は反応 «剤 (フラックス) として作用することがあり、 のハロゲ ン化物を用いることにより、 鍵の舰において結晶性、 平均樹圣が制御された複合金属酸 化物が得られる。 フラックスは、 例えば、 L iF、 NaF、 KF、 L iC l、 NaC l、 K Cl、 L i2C〇3、 Na2C〇3、 K2C〇3、 NaHC03、 NH4C 1、 NH4I、 MgF2、 Ca F2、 SrF2、 BaF2、 MgC l2、 CaC 、 SrC l2、 BaC l2、 Mg l2、 Ca l2、 S r 12、 B a 12である。
混合は、 例えば、 ポールミル、 V型混合機、 攪機のような装置を用いて行えばよい。 混 合は、 乾式、 湿式いずれで行ってもよい。
金属化合物の混合物が、 高温で^^および zまた »m化して酸化物になる化合物を含む場 合、 繊を行なってもよい。 繊は、 ί鍵の舰の膽 以下の雕で行なえばよい。 仮 焼により、 化合物は酸化物にしたり、 化合物に含まれる結晶水が除去してもよい。 仮焼は、 不活性ガス雰囲気、 謝匕†生雰囲気、 性雰囲気のいずれで行なってもよい。 «品¾ ^碎 してもよい。
誠は、 例えば、 約 600°C以上、 約 1600°C以下の範囲の騰 にて約 0. 5時間 以上約 100時間以下の条件で行えばよい。 上記の (I) 、 (II) および (III) を満たす複 合金属酸化物を製造する場合、 «は、 約 1100°C以上、 約 1300°C以下の範囲の!^ で行うことが好ましい。
«は、 窒素、 アルゴン等の不活性ガス雰囲気;空気、 酸素、 酸 ^^有窒素、 酸 有ァ ルゴン等の酸化性雰囲気;水素を約 0. 1〜 10体積%含有する水素含有窒素、 7K素を約 0 · 1〜10髓%含有する水 有アルゴン等の ¾性雰囲気から、 Mの種類に応じて、 難 選択した雰囲気下で行なえばよい。 誠は、 金属化合物の混合物に纖の炭素を添加した後、 行なってもよい。 炭素を添加することにより、 誠を強レ^ Κ'Ι»囲気下で行なうこと力 きる。 誠は 2回以上行ってもよい。
得られる複合金属酸化物を、 必要に応じて、 粉碎、 洗浄、 及してもよく、 粉碎は、 例え ば、 ポールミル、 ジェットミルを用いて行なえばよい。 また、 複合金属酸化物に表面処理を 施してもよい。 表面処理は、 例えば、 複合金属酸化物の粒 面を S i、 A l、 T i等を含 する無機物質で被覆すること力 げられる。
本発明の蛍光体は、 鎌己の複合金属酸化物を含む。 蛍光体は、 複合金属酸化物職からな るものであってもよく、 または被覆などの表面処理を施した複合金属酸化物を含むものであ つてもよい。 蛍光体は、 各漏起源の照射下で、 高レ^ »度を示す。

本発明の蛍光体ペーストは、 通常、 編己の蛍光体、 およ ϋ ^機物を含む。 有機物は、 バイ ンダ一、藤!!等である。 基板に蛍光体ペーストを塗布して靈し、 醒理することにより、 蛍光体ペースト中の有機物を揮発、 燃焼、 等により!^し、 蛍光体から実質的になる蛍 光体層が形成される1
蛍光体べ一ストは、 例えば、 特開平 1 0— 2 5 5 6 7 1号公報開示の方法のように、 蛍光 体、 バインダ一および翻を、 ポールミ 三本ロー を用いて混合する方法により難 すればよい。 ノ Wンダ一は、 例えば、 セルロース系樹脂 (ェチルセルロース、 メチルセル口 ース、 ニトロセルロース、 ァセチルセルロース、 セルロースプロピオネート、 ヒドロキシプ 口ピルセル口一ス、 ブチルセルロース、 ベンジルセルロース、 変性セルロースなど) 、 ァク リル系樹脂 (ァクリリ 、 メタクリ 、 メチルァクリレート、 メテルメタクリレート、 ェ チルァクリレート、 工チルメタクリレ一ト、 プロピルァクリレート、 プロピルメタクリレー ト、 イソプロピルァクリレート、 イソプロピルメタクリレート、 n—ブチルァクリレート、 n—ブチレメタクリレ一ト、 t e r t—プチ Jレアクリレー卜、 t e r tーブチリレメタクリレ ート、 2—ヒドロキシェチルァクリレート、 2—ヒドロキシェチルメタクリレート、 2—ヒ ドロキシプロピルアタリレート、 2—ヒドロキシプロピルメタクリレート、 ベンジルァクリ レート、 ベンジルメタクりレート、 フエノキシァクリレー卜、 フエノキシメタクリレート、 イソポルニルァクリレート、 イソポルニルメタクリレート、 グリシジルメタクリレート、 ス チレン、 α—メチルスチレンアクリルアミド、 メタアクリルアミド、 アクリロニトリル、 メ 夕アクリロニトリルなどの単量体のうちの少なくとも 1種の重合体) 、 エチレン—酉體ビニ ル共重合術脂、 ポリビニルプチラール、 ポリビエルアルコール、 プロピレングリコール、 ポリエチレンオキサイド、 ウレタン系樹脂、 メラミン系樹脂、 フエノール樹脂である。 翻は、 例えば、 1価アルコールのうち高沸点のもの;エチレングリコ一 Jl ^グリセリン に代表されるジォー トリオ一ルなどの (面アルコール;アルコールをエーテル化および ,またはエステル化した化合物 (エチレングリコールモノアルキルエーテル、 エチレンダリ コールジアルキルエーテル、 エチレングリコールアルキルエーテルアセテート、 ジエチレン ダリコールモノアルキルエーテルァセテ一ト、 ジェチレンダリコ一ルジアルキルエーテル、 プロピレンダリコールモノアルキルエーテル、 プロピレンダリコールジアルキルエーテル、 プロピレンダリコールアルキルァセテ一ト) である。
得られる蛍光体ペーストを、 基板に塗 麦、 熱処理して得られる蛍光体層は 輝度が レ 基板は、 例えば、 ガラス、 樹脂からなり、 フレキシカレであってもよぐ 形状が板、 容 器であってもよい。 塗布は、 スクリーン印刷法、 インクジェット法により行なえばよい。 熱 処理は、 通常、 3 0 0°〇〜6 0 0°0の¾¾で行なぇばょぃ。 また、 塗 菱、 熱処理を行う前 に、 基板を室温〜 3 0 0°Cの温度で乾燥してもよい。 ?
本発明の^ は I己の蛍光体を含む。 ^ 通常、 蛍光体とその励起源、 必要 に応じて、 他の蛍光体を含む。 他の蛍光体は、 例えば、 赤色蛍光体である。
発光素子の例として真空紫外繊起発光素子であるプラズマディスプレイノヽ°ネノレを挙げて その製 ^去について説明する。 プラズマディスプレイパネルの製^去としては例えば、 特開平 1 0— 1 9 5 4 2 8号公報に開示されているような 口の方法を棚すればよい。 前 記の蛍光体が 発光を示 は、 蛍光体、 蛍光体、 鍵己の青色蛍光体により構 成されるそれぞれの蛍光体を、例えば、 セルロース系樹脂、 ポリビニルアルコールからなる ノインタ、、一および猫 IJと混合して蛍光体ペーストを調製する。 背面謹の内面の、 隔壁で仕 切られァドレス餅亟を備えたストライブ状の 表面と隔壁面に、 蛍光体ペーストをスクリ ーン印刷などの;^去によって'脑し、 3 0 0〜6 0 0°Cの 範囲で ¾Mし、 それぞれの 蛍光体層を得る。 これに、 蛍光体層と直交する方向の透明戴亟およびパス慰亟を備え、 内面 に誘電体層と保 ¾ϋを設けた表面ガラス纖を重ねて歸する。 内部を して ί班の X e や N e等の希ガスを封入し、 ¾¾¾間を形成させることにより、 プラズマディスプレイノくネ ノレを製造することができる。
発光素子の例として電^ H l起発光素子であるフィールドエミッションディスプレイを挙 げてその製駄法にっ 、て説明する。 フィ一ノレドエミツションディスプレイの製:^去とし ては例えば、 特開 2 0 0 2— 1 3 8 2 7 9号公報に開示されてレ、るような の W去を使用 ItLばよい。 嫌己の蛍光体が青色発光を示 は、 腿蛍光体、 赤色蛍光体、編己の 蛍光体により構成されるそれぞれの蛍光体を、 それぞれ、 例えば、 ポリビニルアルコール水 ?薪夜などに分散して 光体:ペーストを H製する。 光体ペーストをガラス 反上に、塗布後、 »理することにより蛍光体層を得てフェイスプレートとする。 そのフェイスプレートと多 数の電子放出素子を有するリァプレートとを支持枠を介して糸 ϋ:てるとともに、 これらの間 隙を真空排気しつつ気密封止するなど通常の工程を経て、 フィールドエミツションディスプ レイを製造することができる。
発光素子として白色 L E Dを挙げてその製 去について説明する。 白色 L E Dの製駄 法としては例えば、 特開平 5— 1 5 2 6 0 9号公報およ 開平 7 - 9 9 3 4 5 "^報等に 開示されて ヽるような の^去を使用すればょレヽ。 嫌己の蛍光体を少なくとも含有する蛍 光体を、 ェポキ、 ^脂、 ポリカーボネート、 シリコンゴムなどの透光性樹脂中に;^させ、 その蛍光体を分散させた樹脂を青色 L E Dまたは紫外 L E Dを取り囲むように藤すること により、 白色 L EDを製造することができる。 発光素子として紫外 起発光素子である高負 光ランプ (ランプの管壁の単位 当 りの消費動が大きな/ J の蛍光ラン を挙げてその製駄法について説明する。 高負荷 蛍光ランプの製^去としては例えば、 特開平 1 0— 2 5 1 6 3 6号公報に開示されている ような 卩の方法を棚 ばよい。 膽己の蛍光体が能発光を示 は、 随蛍光体、 趟蛍光体、 嫌己の青色蛍光 立子により構成されるそれぞれの蛍光体を、 例えば、 ポリエ チレンォキサイド水?額夜などに微して蛍光体ペーストを調製する。 この蛍光体ペーストを ガラス管内壁に »し、 車纖を行ったあと、 3 0 0〜6 0 0 の^^範囲で«理し、 蛍光 体層を得る。 これに、 フィラメントを装着したのち、 など通常の工程を経て、 の A r、 K rや N e等の希ガスおよび水銀を封入して口金を取り付けて ¾H¾間を形成させるこ とにより、 高負^ ¾光ランプを製^ ることができる。 m

産業上の利用可能性
本発明によれば、 高い輝度を示す蛍光体を与えることのできる複合金属酸化物が得られる。 この複合金属酸化物を含 る蛍光体は、 液晶ディスプレイ用バックライト等の紫外編起 舰素子、 フィールドェミッションディスプレイ等の電 泉励起発光軒、 白色 L ED等の t -, プラズマディスプレイノ、。ネル等の真空紫外線励起 ^?に翻でき、 特に、 真 空紫外線励 軒用に議に麵される。 また、 本発明の複合金属酸化物は、 紫外線遮 蔽材、 塗料にも 可能である。
