[0003] 酸化チタンは、屈折率が高ぐ隠蔽力、着色力、紫外線防御力に優れていることか ら、従来より、顔料として塗料、プラスチック、化粧料等に広く使用されている。紫外線 防御剤としてこれらの製品基剤に含まれる酸化チタンは、紫外線防御能、透明性を 追求した結果、平均一次粒子径が 0. 1 m以下の微粒子粉体が主流となっている。 酸化チタンの製造方法としては、硫酸チタ二ルゃ四塩化チタンを水相中で加熱加水 分解する方法や、中和加水分解する方法などが知られている(例えば、特許文献 1 参照)。
[0004] しかしながら、微粒子粉体は粒子径が非常に小さいことから、吸油量が高ぐ凝集を 起こしやすぐ製品基剤系において分散し難いものであった。また、この微粒子粉体 を含有する化粧料等は UV— B領域(280〜320nm)の紫外線防止効果は高いもの の、可視域(400〜700nm)での透明性に劣り、実使用時においてもざらつきやのび の悪さ等の問題点を有して!/、た。
[0005] 特許文献 2には、チタン塩溶液を脂肪族アルコール存在下で加熱加水分解し、さら に酸で加熱処理することにより多孔質酸化チタン粉体が得られることが記載されてい この多孔質酸化チタンは、紫外線防御効果、使用性、可視域での透明性において 優れるものの、さらなる効果の向上が望まれるところであった。

発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0006] 本発明は前記背景技術の課題に鑑みなされたものであり、その目的は、紫外線防 御能、使用性、可視域での透明性が向上した多孔質酸化チタン及びその製造方法 を提供することを目的とする。
課題を解決するための手段
[0007] 前記目的を達成するために本発明者らが鋭意検討した結果、脂肪族アルコールを 含有するチタン塩溶液にアルカリを添加して加熱加水分解することにより多孔質酸化 チタンが得られ、この多孔質酸化チタンは紫外線防御能、可視域での透明性、使用 性が非常に高いことを見出した。また、アルカリ添加後にさらに酸を添加したり、加熱 加水分解後に酸加熱処理を行うことにより、さらに効果が向上することをも見出し、本 発明を完成するに至った。
[0008] すなわち、本発明にかかる多孔質酸化チタンの製造方法は、多価アルコールを含 むチタン塩溶液に、アルカリを添加した後、加熱加水分解することを特徴とする。 本発明において、アルカリ添加後、さらに酸を添加して、加熱加水分解することが 好適である。
また、アルカリをチタン塩に対して 0. ;!〜 1倍モル添加することが好適である。 また、酸をチタン塩に対して 0. ;!〜 1倍モル添加することが好適である。 また、加熱加水分解後、さらに酸で加熱処理することが好適である。
また、本発明において、多価アルコールがチタン塩に対して 0. ;!〜 5倍モルである ことが好適である。
本発明にかかる多孔質酸化チタンは、前記何れかの方法により得られた、平均粒 子径が 0. 01 - 1. O ^ m,比表面積が 50m2/g以上である多孔質酸化チタンである

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0011] 本発明の多孔質酸化チタン粉体は、多価アルコールを含むチタン塩溶液に、アル カリを添加し、加熱加水分解することにより得られる。アルカリの添加により、得られた 多孔質酸化チタンの紫外線防御効果及び透明性が向上する。
アルカリは特に限定されないが、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、アンモニア水、 炭酸ナトリウム等が好適に用いられる。アルカリの添加量はチタン塩に対してモル比 で 0. ;!〜 1であることが好適である。添加量が少なすぎるとその効果が十分に発揮さ れず、過剰に用いた場合には微粒子化が過度になり逆に凝集が強くなつて紫外線 防御効果や透明性が低下する。
アルカリ添加後は、十分に混合する。例えば、 10〜40°Cで 10分〜 24時間、好まし くは 20〜40°Cで 10〜60分間攪拌する。
[0012] また、アルカリ添加後にさらに酸を添加して力 加熱加水分解すれば、紫外線防御 効果が一層向上した多孔質酸化チタンを得ることができる。
このような酸としては特に限定されないが、塩酸、硫酸、硝酸等が好適に用いられ、 特に好ましくは塩酸である。酸の添加量はチタン塩に対してモル比で 0. ;!〜 1である こと力 S好適である。添加量が少なすぎるとその効果が十分に発揮されず、過剰に用 いた場合には酸による加水分解の抑制作用が働きすぎ、微粒子化が過度になり凝 集が強くなる他、収率も低下する。
酸添加後は、十分に混合する。例えば、 10〜40°Cで 10分〜 24時間、好ましくは 通常は 20〜40°Cで 10〜60分間攪拌する。
[0013] 本発明においては、チタン塩溶液中に多価アルコールを存在させておく。多価ァ ルコールを用いない場合には、上記のようなアルカリや酸を添加して加熱加水分解し
ても、得られた多孔質酸化チタンの紫外線防御効果や透明性は極めて低くなつてし まう。
[0014] 多価アルコールとしては、特に限定されないが、エチレングリコール、プロピレンダリ コーノレ、 1 , 3—ブチレングリコーノレ、グリセローノレ、エリスリトーノレ、キシリトーノレ、マン 二トール、ソノレビトーノレ、マルチトール等が好適に用いられる。 1価アルコールを用い ても多孔質になるが、多価アルコールに比べてきれいな形状のものが得難い。多価 アルコールとして特に好ましくはグリセリンである。
多価アルコールの添加量としては、通常はチタン塩に対しモル比で 0. ;!〜 5、好ま しくは 0. 5〜2. 5である。添加量が少なすぎても多すぎても良好な効果を発揮する 多孔質酸化チタンを得ることが困難である。
多価アルコール添加後は、十分に混合する。例えば、 10〜40°Cで 10分〜 24時間 、好ましくは 20〜40°Cで 5〜20時間攪拌する。
[0015] 本発明において用いるチタン塩溶液の出発原料としては、特に限定されないが、硫 酸チタン、硫酸チタニル、四塩化チタン等の無機チタン塩の水溶液が好適に用いら れる。また、出発原料としてチタンテトライソプロボキシド等の有機チタン塩を使用す ることも可能である。チタン塩溶液の濃度は、 0. ;!〜 5mol/Lであることが好適であ
[0016] 加熱加水分解条件は、用いるチタン塩溶液や添加剤の種類や濃度等により適宜 決定されるが、通常 50〜; 100°Cにて 1〜; 12時間であることが好適である。
また、本発明においては、加熱加水分解後、さらに酸による加熱処理を行うことで、 紫外線防御効果及び可視域での透明性が更に向上する。
酸加熱処理としては、例えば、加熱加水分解後、濾過残分を水中に再懸濁したス ラリーに対して酸を添加し、あるいは、濾過残分を酸の水溶液に再懸濁し、加熱する ことにより fiうことカでさる。
[0017] このような酸としては、硫酸、硝酸、塩酸等が挙げられ、好ましくは塩酸である。該酸 加熱処理における酸の添加量は、通常スラリー中のチタンに対してモル比で 1〜8と すること力 Sでさる。
加熱条件としては、用いる原料、添加剤、濃度等に応じて適宜決定すればよいが、
通常は、前記加熱加水分解条件と同様の範囲である。
なお、酸加熱処理の後は、さらにアルカリで中和してから、濾過、水洗、乾燥を行う ことが好ましい。また、必要であれば、乾燥後焼成してもよい。
[0018] 本発明で得られる酸化チタン粉体は、酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合した擬球状( 概ね球状)の多孔質粒子である。その平均粒子径は SEM観察から 0. 01〜1 111の 範囲であり、紫外線防御能と透明性の点から好ましくは 0. 03-0. 15 111である。比 表面積(BET)は 50m2/g以上である。
[0019] 本発明の方法で得られる多孔質酸化チタン粉体は、透明性、紫外線防御効果が非 常に高い。これは該酸化チタン粉体が多孔質であることに加え、基剤中での分散性 力はくて凝集しにくいためではないかと考えられる。また、本発明の多孔質酸化チタン 粉体は擬球状であり、ざらつきがなく使用性にも優れる。
[0020] 本発明においては、多価アルコールとともにカルボキシル基又はカルボ二ル基を有 する物質を共存させてもよい。この場合、併用しない場合に比して多孔質粉体の粒 径が小さくなる傾向がある。
このような物質としては、特に支障のない限り限定されないが、炭素数 1〜22の脂 肪族化合物が好適であり、代表的な例として脂肪族カルボン酸又はその誘導体等が 挙げられる。脂肪族カルボン酸としては、ギ酸、酢酸、プロピオン酸、力プリル酸、ステ アリン酸等の一塩基酸、シユウ酸、コハク酸、アジピン酸等の二塩基酸の他、あるい はそれ以上の多塩基酸も可能である。誘導体としては、アルカリ金属塩、アルカリ土 類金属塩、 4級アンモニゥム塩等の塩、メチルエステル、ェチルエステル等のエステ ル等が代表的である力 アミノ酸、アミドなども特に支障のない範囲で使用可能であ る。カルボン酸又はその誘導体のうち、好ましいものとしてカルボン酸、カルボン酸塩 、カルボン酸エステルが挙げられ、特に好ましいものとして酢酸が挙げられる。
[0021] カルボキシル基又はカルボ二ル基を有する物質の添加量は、該化合物の種類やそ の他の条件によって適宜決定すればよいが、通常はチタンに対するモル比で 0. ;!〜 5であることが好適であり、より好ましくは 0. 5〜3である。添加量が少なすぎると効果 が発揮されず、また、過剰に添加するとかえって粒子が細力べなりすぎ凝集を誘発す
[0022] また、酸化チタンは光、特に紫外線の照射によって光触媒として作用することが知 られている。
その一方で、このような光触媒作用によって、何らかの基剤系に配合された場合、 それら基剤中の他成分を変質させてしまう可能性もある。このような変質を回避する ために表面処理を行うことができる。また、化粧料などにおいては撥水性付与のため にも表面処理を行うことが好適である。
[0023] 本発明に用いる表面処理としては特に限定されないが、例えばアルミニウム処理、 シリコーン処理、脂肪酸石鹼処理、デキストリン脂肪酸エステル処理、フッ素処理等 を行ってもよい。また、その他の金属種でさらに表面を被覆することにより、紫外線吸 収特性を変化させることも期待できる。
[0024] 本発明の多孔質チタン粉体は、熱的、化学的にも安定であり、油分、水、粉末、界 面活性剤、低級アルコール、多価アルコール、保湿剤、防腐剤、高分子、酸化防止 剤、香料、各種薬剤等を本発明の持つ紫外線防御等の効果を損なわない質的、量 的範囲で配合することが可能である。
[0025] 本発明の多孔質酸化チタン粉体を化粧料に配合して用いる場合、化粧料のとり得 る形態は特に限定されず、例えば粉末状、クリーム状、スティック状、ペンシル状、液 体状等、その用途に応じて各種形態をとることが可能であり、化粧下地、ファンデー シヨン、白粉、頰紅、口紅、マスカラ、アイシャドー、アイライナー、クリーム、乳液、口 ーシヨン等各種化粧料を提供することが可能である。これら化粧料は、本発明の多孔 質酸化チタンとともに、通常化粧料に配合可能な成分を用いて、公知の方法により製 造すること力 Sでさる。
実施例
[0026] 製造例 1
lmol/Lの四塩化チタン水溶液 1Lに 92g (lmol)のグリセリンを添加し、 40°Cで 攪拌した後、 10g (0. 25mol)の水酸化ナトリウムを添加し、更に 40°Cで 30分間攪拌 した。この溶液に 35%塩酸 26g (0. 25mol)を添加し、 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した後、 90°Cで 3時間加熱加水分解を行い、濾過、水洗、乾燥によりアナターゼ型の酸化チ タン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 70nmの多孔質擬球形粒子であることが確認された。また、比表面積 は 182m2/gであった。
[0027] 製造例 2
製造例 1において、加熱加水分解後、さらに酸で加熱処理を行った。すなわち、 1 mol/Lの四塩化チタン水溶液 1Lに 92g (lmol)のグリセリンを添加し、 40°Cで攪拌 した後、 10g (0. 25mol)の水酸化ナトリウムを添加し、更に 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した 。この溶液に 35%塩酸 26g (0. 25mol)を添加し、 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した後、 90°C で 3時間加熱加水分解を行った。
続いて得られたゾルを濾過した後、濾過残分を 1. 5mol/L塩酸 500mLに超音波 分散機にて分散させ、 90°Cで 3時間攪拌した後、水酸化ナトリウムで中和、濾過、水 洗、乾燥を行ってアナターゼ型の酸化チタン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 60nmの多孔質擬球形粒子であることが確認された。また、比表面積 は 343m2/gであった。

製造例 2において、アルカリ添加後に酸を添加せずに製造した。すなわち、 lmol /Lの四塩化チタン水溶液 1Lに 92g (lmol)のグリセリンを添加し、 40°Cで攪拌した 後、 10g (0. 25mol)の水酸化ナトリウムを添加し、更に 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した。こ の溶液を 90°Cで 3時間加熱加水分解を行った。
続いて得られたゾルを濾過した後、濾過残分を 1. 5mol/L塩酸 500mLに超音波 分散機にて分散させ、 90°Cで 3時間攪拌した後、水酸化ナトリウムで中和、濾過、水 洗、乾燥を行ってアナターゼ型の酸化チタン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 70nmの多孔質擬球形粒子であることが確認された。

製造例 2において、塩酸の代わりに酢酸を用いて製造した。すなわち、 lmol/Lの 四塩化チタン水溶液 1Lに 92g (lmol)のグリセリンを添加し、 40°Cで攪拌した後、 10
g (0. 25mol)の水酸化ナトリウムを添加し、更に 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した。この溶液 に酢酸 60g (lmol)を添加し、 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した後、 90°Cで 3時間加熱加水 分解を行った。
続いて得られたゾルを濾過した後、濾過残分を 1. 5mol/L塩酸 500mLに超音波 分散機にて分散させ、 90°Cで 3時間攪拌した後、水酸化ナトリウムで中和、濾過、水 洗、乾燥を行ってアナターゼ型の酸化チタン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 60nmの多孔質擬球形粒子であることが確認された。

続いて得られたゾルを濾過した後、濾過残分を 1. 5mol/L塩酸 500mLに超音波 分散機にて分散させ、 90°Cで 3時間攪拌した後、水酸化ナトリウムで中和、濾過、水 洗、乾燥を行ってアナターゼ型の酸化チタン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 60nmの多孔質擬球形粒子であることが確認された。

続いて得られたゾルを濾過した後、濾過残分を 1. 5mol/L塩酸 500mLに超音波 分散機にて分散させ、 90°Cで 3時間攪拌した後、水酸化ナトリウムで中和、濾過、水 洗、乾燥を行ってルチル型の酸化チタン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 90nmの多孔質擬球形粒子であることが確認された。

製造例 2において、グリセリンを添加せずに製造した。すなわち、 lmol/Lの四塩 化チタン水溶液 1Lを 40°Cで攪拌した後、 10g (0. 25mol)の水酸化ナトリウムを添 加し、更に 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した。この溶液に 35%塩酸 26g (0. 25mol)を添カロし 、 40°Cで 30分間攪拌した後、 90°Cで 3時間加熱加水分解を行った。
続いて得られたゾルを濾過した後、濾過残分を 1. 5mol/L塩酸 500mLに超音波 分散機にて分散させ、 90°Cで 3時間攪拌した後、水酸化ナトリウムで中和、濾過、水 洗、乾燥を行ってルチル型の酸化チタン粉体を得た。
SEM観察の結果、得られた粉体は酸化チタンの一次粒子が集合して形成された 平均粒子径約 2 μ mの無孔質不定形粒子であることが確認された。
製造例;!〜 5及び比較製造例;!〜 2の多孔質酸化チタン粉体について、以下の方 法により透過率を測定し、可視域での透明性と紫外線防護効果を評価した。
すなわち、粉体 2gをひまし油 3g中、 3本ローラーで十分に粉砕 ·分散し、得られた 分散体をさらにひまし油で粉体濃度 5質量%に希釈した。この分散物を石英ガラス上 に膜厚 δ πιに塗布し、室温にて 30分間乾燥した。形成された塗布膜について、分 光光度計にて 280〜800nmの透過率を測定し、下記基準で評価した。

[0037] 表 1のように、チタン塩溶液の加熱加水分解後さらに酸加熱処理した系においては 、多価アルコール含有チタン塩溶液にアルカリを添加した場合やアルカリ及び酸を 添加した場合 (製造例 2〜5)には、アルカリ及び酸を添加しなかった場合(比較製造 例 1)に比べて、透明性及び紫外線防御性が向上した。特に、アルカリ添加後に塩酸 を添加することにより紫外線防御効果が非常に高くなつた (製造例 2、 5)。
一方、多価アルコールを用いずにアルカリ及び酸のみを添加した場合には透明性 、紫外線防御性ともに非常に低力、つた。
また、多価アルコール含有チタン塩溶液にアルカリ及び酸を添加して加熱加水分 解した場合には、その後の酸加熱処理を行わなくとも、比較製造例 1に比して高い透 明性及び紫外線防御性が得られた (製造例 1)。
[0038] 本発明にかかる多孔質酸化チタン粉体として、製造例 2の走査電子顕微鏡(SEM) による観察図を図 1に示す。図 1のように、本発明にかかる多孔質酸化チタン粉体は 、酸化チタン一次粒子が集合して擬球状に形成されて!/、る。

10名の専門パネルにより使用試験を行ったところ、使用感ゃ仕上がりの素肌感、紫 外線防御効果にお!/、て、配合例 1の方が比較配合例 1よりも高レ、評価が得られた。

Claims
[1] 多価アルコールを含むチタン塩溶液に、アルカリを添加した後、加熱加水分解する ことを特徴とする多孔質酸化チタンの製造方法。
[2] 請求項 1記載の方法において、アルカリ添加後、さらに酸を添加して、加熱加水分 解することを特徴とする多孔質酸化チタンの製造方法。
[3] 請求項 1又は 2記載の方法において、アルカリをチタン塩に対して 0. ;!〜 1倍モル 添加することを特徴とする多孔質酸化チタンの製造方法。

[5] 請求項;!〜 4の何れかに記載の方法において、加熱加水分解後、さらに酸で加熱 処理することを特徴とする多孔質酸化チタンの製造方法。
[6] 請求項 1〜5の何れかに記載の方法において、多価アルコールがチタン塩に対し て 0. ;!〜 5倍モルであることを特徴とする多孔質酸化チタンの製造方法。
[7] 請求項 1〜6の何れかに記載の方法により得られた、平均粒子径が 0. 01〜; 1 . Ο μ m、比表面積が 50m2/g以上である多孔質酸化チタン。
[8] 請求項 7記載の多孔質酸化チタンを配合した化粧料。
