発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0006] 本願発明の目的は、解像限界よりも小さいマークを追記記録及び再生又は再生の みでき、かつ高い再生性能(CNR等)が得られ、かつ高い再生耐久性を実現するこ とである。
課題を解決するための手段
[0007] 超解像再生を行う光記録媒体では、例えば、図 1にその断面図の一例を示すように 、記録層、信号再生機能層(場合によりマスク層と呼ばれることもある。 )、保護層、反 射層から構成される。再生のためのレーザー光照射により、信号再生機能層の温度 が上がった結果、超解像再生を得ることができるが、これはまた信号再生機能層と隣 接する保護層との間で昇温に伴う反応を引き起こすことになり、このことが信号再生 機能層の超解像再生性能に影響を与え、再生耐久性を十分確保することができなく なる。
[0008] 上記反応は、保護層の材料として例えば、 ZnSと SiOの混合物(ZnS— SiO )を用
2 2 いた場合に起こる力 S、 ZnS - SiOは、高い光透過性、低い熱伝導性、低い熱膨張性

などの観点から追記型及び書き換え型の光記録媒体では主要な保護層材料となつ ている。
[0009] 図 2の断面図に示すように、本願発明においては、信号再生機能層と保護層との 間に、熱的に安定な拡散防止層を導入することにより、信号再生機能層と保護層界 面の昇温に伴う反応を阻止または抑制し、再生耐久性を上げることができる。
[0010] ところで、相変化記録膜の書き換え繰り返し回数を改善するため、相変化記録膜に 隣接して新たな保護層を導入する方法が公知である(特許文献 2参照)。本願発明と は、 目的の違いによる以下に示す理由から、光記録媒体の構成が異なっている。
[0011] 本願発明における信号再生機能層として使用する材料について、超解像再生のた めのレーザー光照射時に、アモルファス相部分は結晶化してしまうため、これを相変 化記録膜として用いることはできなレ、。
[0012] また、 Ge Sb Teを保護層で挟んだ構造においても超解像再生は行えると報告さ

れている(非特許文献 1参照)。該発明によると、 =403nm、 NA = 0. 6の光学系
を用い、解像限界以下 lOOnm記録マークの再生を行ったところ、得られる CNRは 1 5dB以下とある。上記特許文献 2に記載の構造を用いた場合も、上記非特許文献 1 に類似した再生 CNR特性が得られると見込まれる。
[0013] つまり、上記特許文献 2の相変化記録膜部分は、従来の記録層としての使い方の 他に、超解像再生のための信号再生機能層として応用できるものの、記録及び超解 像再生の機能を同時に十分発揮することはできず、少なくとも単独では、実用的な超 解像再生のための光記録媒体とならな!/、。本願発明にお!/、てはこれを超解像再生の ための信号再生機能層としてのみ利用し、別に適当な記録部分と合わせた構成とす る。記録部分とは具体的に、追記型記録層もしくはあらかじめ形成された位相記録ピ ットなどである。
発明の効果
[0014] 本発明においては、超解像再生のための信号再生機能層前後に新たな層を設け 、これらを適当な記録部分と組み合わせることにより、高い再生性能と高い再生耐久 性をともに満たす効果を得、その結果、実用化が可能な超解像再生光記録媒体を提 供する。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0017] 以下に、本願発明を実施するための最良の形態を示す。
図 2に、本願発明による超解像再生のための光記録媒体の構成例を示す。基板、 記録層、保護層、拡散防止層、信号再生機能層、拡散防止層、保護層及び反射層 力、ら構成される。
[0018] 信号再生機能層の材料は、 Sb又は Te (本願明細書においては、 Sb、 Te又は(Sb 及び Te)を意味する。)を含むことが好ましぐ具体的には Sb— Te、 Ge— Te、 Ge— Sb— Te、 Zn— Sb等が挙げられる。またこれらに Ag、 In、 Ge等が不純物として含ま れていても良い。
[0019] 保護層の材料は、 ZnS - SiOが良ぐ ZnSと SiOの混合比(ZnS : SiO )が、 90m

ol%: 10mol%から 60mol% : 40mol%の範囲にあることが望ましい。
[0020] 拡散防止層の材料は、信号再生機能層と保護層界面の昇温に伴う反応を阻止ま たは抑制できれば良いので、熱的に安定な様々な材料を用いることができる。具体 的には、 Ge、 Zr、 Ce、 Cr、 Si、 Al、 Ti、 Ta等の窒化物、酸化物、炭化物であることが 好ましい。
[0021] 拡散防止層の材料は、信号再生機能層の前後で必ずしも同じである必要はなぐ 上記からそれぞれ選択して形成しても良い。
[0022] 反射層は、光記録媒体の反射率の調整がその主な役割の一つであるため、 Ag、 A
1、 Au、 Cu、 Pt、 Pd、 Ti、 W、 Mo等の各種金属及びその合金を用いることができる。 また必ずしも反射層を形成する必要はなレ、。
[0023] 図 2においては、保護層を介し基板側から、記録層、信号再生機能層及び拡散防 止層、反射層の順となっている力 記録層と、信号再生機能層及び拡散防止層の順 序は逆でも構わない。またレーザー光による記録及び再生を、基板を通して行わな い場合、反射層を最も基板側に形成しても良い。
[0024] 記録層の材料は、レーザー光照射によってその光学定数が不可逆に変化し、かつ
超解像再生のためのレーザー光照射時に記録層に形成された記録が消失しない材 料であれば何でも良い。
[0025] 基板の材料は、特に限定されず、ガラスやプラスチックなどが使用できる。レーザー 光による記録及び再生を、基板を通して行わない場合は、基板は、レーザー光に対 して光学的に不透明であっても良い。
[0026] 図 2の記録層を形成せず、あらかじめ記録ピットが形成された基板を用い、媒体を 再生専用型としても良い。
実施例 1
[0027] 図 2に示すように、ポリカーボネート基板上に、(ZnS) (SiO ) (つまり、 ZnS— Si

[0029] 測定は、実施例 1及び比較例 1ともに、 λ =405nm、 NA = 0. 65の光学系から成 る光ディスク評価装置 (パルステック工業株式会社製、 DDU— 1000)を用いた。
[0030] このように形成された光記録媒体に対し、線速度 4. 4m/sにおいて、解像限界以 下の lOOnmマーク(200nm周期)を、実施例 1では 9. 5mW、比較例 1では 10. Om Wのレーザー光パワーで記録した。
[0031] 記録は、 PtOと SiOの混合物のうち主に、 PtOが白金と酸素に熱分解することで

生じる媒体内での変形によって成され、この記録は一度だけ行うことが可能である。
[0032] 記録後の光記録媒体に、再生のためのレーザー光パワーを照射したところ、図 3に
示すように、実施例 1及び比較例 1とも、 2. OmWを超えた辺りで、超解像再生が可 能となり、 3. OmW付近になると、 CNRは約 44dBであった。つまり、拡散防止層を新 たに導入した実施例 1にお!/、ても、従来の比較例 1と同様の高!/、CNR特性を得るこ とが可能である。
[0033] 超解像再生を繰り返し行った場合に、 CNRが初期値から 3dB下がるまでの回数を 測定したところ、図 4に示すように、比較例 1 (再生レーザー光パワー: 2· 8mW)では 約 75, 000回、実施例 1 (再生レーザー光パワー: 3· OmW)では約 268, 000回とな つた。つまり、拡散防止層の導入により、超解像再生時の再生耐久性が従来の 3倍 以上に向上した。
[0034] 次に、 lOOnmマーク(200nm周期)と 350nmマーク(700nm周期)を含む複合マ 一ク列を記録した。 lOOnmマーク部分の超解像再生を行うため、上述図 4と同じ再 生レーザー光パワーを照射し、そのときの媒体力もの反射光強度変化を測定した。 図 5に示すように、比較例 1では約 10, 000回を超えると反射光強度が低下したが、 実施例 1では約 50, 000回後も反射光強度はほぼ変化しな力、つた。これは、拡散防 止層の導入により、信号再生機能層と保護層界面の昇温に伴う反応を阻止または抑 制できたためと考えられる。
実施例 2
[0035] 実施例 1の構造において、拡散防止層の材料を酸化ジルコニウム(Zr-O)に変更し た光記録媒体を形成した。本実施例 2においても、 λ =405nm、 NA=0. 65の光 学系から成る上記光ディスク評価装置を使用し、線速度 6m/sにおいて、解像限界 以下 lOOnmマーク(200nm周期)を 10. 5mWのレーザー光パワーで記録した。
[0036] 記録後の光記録媒体に、超解像再生のためのレーザー光パワーを照射したところ 、 3. 2mWにおいて、 CNRは約 42dBが得られた。この再生を繰り返し行い、初期値 力も 3dB下がるまでの回数を測定したところ、約 190, 000回となった。これは比較例 1に比べ、 2. 5倍以上に向上した。
実施例 3
[0037] あらかじめ記録ピットが形成された基板上に、 (ZnS) (SiO ) から成る保護層を 9

[0039] 測定は、実施例 3及び比較例 2ともに、 λ = 635nm、 NA = 0. 60の光学系から成 る光ディスク評価装置 (パルステック工業株式会社製、 DDU— 1000)を用いた。
[0040] 実施例 3及び比較例 2に対し、線速度 6m/sにおいて、解像限界以下の 200nm 記録ピット(400nm周期)に、超解像再生のためのレーザー光パワーを照射したとこ ろ、ともに 3. 4mWにおいて、 CNRは 43dBであった。
[0041] この再生を繰り返し行い、初期値から 3dB下がるまでの回数を測定したところ、比較 例 2では約 8, 000回、実施例 3では約 20, 000回であった。つまり拡散防止層の導 入により、超解像再生時の再生耐久性が従来の約 2. 5倍に向上した。
Claims
[1] あらかじめ記録ピットが形成された基板上に信号再生機能層が積層された超解像 再生を行うための光記録媒体において、該信号再生機能層は、二つの拡散防止層 により挟まれ、さらに、該拡散防止層は、二つの保護層により挟まれており、該信号再 生機能層は、 Sb又は Teを含有し、該拡散防止層は、窒化物、酸化物又は炭化物に より形成されていることを特徴とする超解像再生を行うための光記録媒体。
[2] 基板上に一度だけ記録可能な記録層及び信号再生機能層が積層された超解像 再生を行うための光記録媒体において、該信号再生機能層は、二つの拡散防止層 により挟まれ、さらに、該拡散防止層は、二つの保護層により挟まれており、該信号再 生機能層は、 Sb又は Teを含有し、該拡散防止層は、窒化物、酸化物又は炭化物に より形成されていることを特徴とする超解像再生を行うための光記録媒体。
[3] 上記保護層は、 ZnSを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項 1又は 2に記載された超 解像再生を行うための光記録媒体。
[4] 上記記録層は、貴金属酸化物の熱分解に伴う変化を利用することにより形成するこ とを特徴とする請求項 2に記載の超解像再生を行うための光記録媒体。
