含フッ素共重合体およびそれからなるフィルム 発明の分野
本発明は、 新規な含フッ素共重合体およびそれからなるフィルムに関し、 更に詳しくは、 押し出し成形によって、 高い透明性および引裂強度を有す るフィルムを与えるエチレン及びテトラフルォロエチレンをベースとする 含フッ素共重合体に関する。
従来の技術
エチレンーテトラフルォロエチレン共重合体 (以下、 「ETFE」 とい う。 ) は、 耐薬品性、 耐熱性、 電気的特性などに優れており、 加えて溶融 成形加工が容易であるため、 各種成形品、 電線被覆、 ライニング、 コーティ ングなどの材料として広く用いられている。
近年、 ETFEフィルムは、 その優れた透明性、 耐候性を生かして、 農 業用ハウスや、 建材用途の保護フィルムなどに使用されている。
特公平 3— 20405号公報は、 エチレン、 テトラフルォロエチレン、 式:
CH2=C FRf
(式中、 Rfは炭素数 2〜10のフルォロアルキル基を表す。 ) で示されるフルォロビニル化合物を含んでなり、 テトラフルォロエチレン とエチレンのモル比が、 40: 60〜60 : 40であり、 フルォロビニル 化合物の含有量が (全共重合体に対して) 0.1〜10モル%であるェチ レンーテトラフルォロエチレン系共重合体を開示している。
し力、し、 ETFEの押出成形により得られるフィルムは、 押出方向 (M D) と幅方向 (TD) での引裂強度の異方性が大きい、 即ち押出方向にく らべ幅方向の引裂強度が低いという欠点があった。 また、 分子量を低下さ せると、 それに伴いフィルムの引裂強度が低下するという問題があった。 特に、 農業ハウスに用いる時には、 引裂強度を向上することを求められて いる
透明性については、 2mmシー卜のヘイズ値で約 60%以下のものが求め られているが、 透明性を付与するためには、 高価なフルォロビニルモノマ 一を多量に共重合しなければならず、 経済的に不利である。
また、 特開昭 49-24295号公報は、 エチレン、 テトラフルォロェ チレン、 へキサフルォロプロピレン共重合体を開示しており、 へキサフル ォロプロピレンの共重合により透明性が向上することが述べられている。 しかし、 その効果は十分なものでなく、 へキサフルォロプロピレンを単独 で使用する場合には多量に共重合せねばならず、 融点の低下を伴い、 耐熱 用途に使用することが出来ない。
発明の概要
本発明の目的は、 押出成形により得られるフィルムの透明性および引裂 強度がすぐれている新規なエチレンおよびテトラフルォロエチレンを含ん でなる含フッ素共重合体を提供することにある。
上記目的は、 エチレン、 テトラフルォロエチレン、 および式:
CH2=CFRf (1) (式中、 Rfは炭素数 2〜10のフルォロアルキル基を表す。 ) で示されるフルォロビニル化合物、 およびへキザフルォロプロピレンを含 んでなり、 テトラフルォロエチレンとエチレンのモル比が 40 : 60〜9 0 : 10であり、 該フルォロビニル化合物 (CH2=CFRf) の含有量が 全共重合体に対して 0.1〜10モル%であり、 へキサフルォロプロピレ ンの含有量が全共重合体に対して 0.1~30モル%である含フッ素共重 合体により達成される。 発明の詳細な説明
本発明の含フッ素共重合体においては、 テトラフルォロエチレンとェチ レンのモル比は、 一般に 40: 60〜90 : 10である。 エチレンの割合 が増せば熱分解開始温度が極端に低下するので、 耐熱性の点から、 テトラ フルォロエチレンの量がエチレンに対して少なくとも等モルであるのが好 ましい。 一方、 テトラフルォロエチレンの割合が多くなりすぎると重合速 度が低下するので、 テトラフルォロエチレンとエチレンの比は、 70 : 3 0以下が好ましい。
本発明で用いる第 1の変性モノマーは、 上記式 (1) で示されるフルォ 口ビニル化合物である。
Rf基の炭素数は、 一般に 2〜10である。 炭素数が 1であると共重合 体の改質が十分になされず、 一方 10より多くなると重合反応性が低下す るので不利である。 得られる共重合体の耐熱性の点からみれば、 Rf基は パ一フルォロアルキル基、 ω—ハイ ド口または ω—クロ口パーフルォロア ルキル基であるのが最も好ましい。
フルォロビニル化合物 (1) のうち、 共重合性、 モノマー製造に関する 経済性、 得られた共重合体の物性から、 式: CH2=CF(CF2)nH (2) (式中、 nは 2〜10の整数を表す。 ) で示されるフルォロビニル化合物 が好ましく、 とりわけ nが 3〜5であるフルォロビニル化合物 (2) が好 ましい。
フルォロビニル化合物 (1) の割合は、 一般に (全共重合体に対して) 0.1〜10モル%の範囲にある。 フルォロビニル化合物 (1) の割合が 上記下限より少なければ、 共重合体の成形時にクラックが発生し、 満足な 成形品が得られない。 一方、 その割合が上記上限より多いと、 フルォロビ ニル化合物 (1) がエチレンゃテトラフルォロエチレンに比べて高価であ るので、 経済的に不利になる。 フルォロビニル化合物 (1) の割合は、 好 ましくは (全共重合体に対して) 0.1〜6モル%である。
本発明で用いる第 2の変性モノマーはへキサフルォロプロピレンである t へキサフルォロプロピレンの割合は、 一般に (全共重合体に対して) 0. 1〜30モル%の範囲にあり、 少量で所期の目的を達成し得る。
へキサフルォロプロピレンの割合が上記下限より少なければ、 フィルム 異方性の改良効果が十分でなく、 一方、 上限より多いと重合速度が著しく 低下し経済的に不利になる。 へキサフルォロプロピレンの割合は、 好まし くは (全共重合体に対して) 0.1〜20モル%、 さらに好ましくは 0.1 〜: L 0モル%である。
へキサフルォロプロピレンに加えて、 フルォロビニル化合物 (1) と同 時に共重合することによって、 へキサフルォロプロピレンの透明性向上効 果が著しく大きくなる。
本発明の含フッ素共重合体は、 上記 4種のモノマーに加え、 少なくとも 1種の他の含フッ素モノマーまたは非フッ素含有モノマーを、 本発明の目 的が損なわれない量で含んでいてよい。 そのような付加的モノマーの例と しては、 ビニリデンフルオライ ド、 クロ口トリフルォロエチレン、 トリフ ルォロエチレン、 プロピレンなどが挙げられる。.
本発明の含フッ素共重合体は、 従来から ETFEの重合に採用されてい る方法、 たとえば塊状、 溶液、 懸濁、 乳化、 気相重合などにより製造する ことができる。
工業的には、 フッ素系溶媒を用い、 重合開始剤として有機過酸化物を使 用する水性媒体中での懸濁重合が好ましい。
フッ素系溶媒としては、 ハイ ドロクロ口フルォロアルカン類 (たとえば CH3CC1F2、 CH3CC12F、 CF3CF2CC12H、 CF2C1CF2C FHC1) 、 パーフルォロアルカン類 (たとえば、 パーフルォロシクロブ タン、 CF3CF2CF2CF3、 CF3CF2CF2CF2CF3、 CF3CF2 CF2CF2CF2CF3) が使用でき、 中でもパーフルォロアルカン類が好 ましい。
溶媒の使用量は、 水に対し 10〜100重量%とするのが、 懸濁性、 経 済性の面から好ましい。
重合開始剤である有機過酸化物としては、 ジイソブチルパーォキサイ ド、 ジイソプロピルパーォキシジカーボネ一ト、 ジー n—プロピルパーォキシ ジカーボネ一卜などのハイ ドロカーボン系の有機過酸化物が挙げられる。 さらに、 式:
(X F2„COO)2 (3) (式中、 Xは、 水素原子、 フッ素原子または塩素原子、 mは、 2〜8の 整数を表す。 )
で示される過酸化物が挙げられる。
有機過酸化物 (3) の具体例は、 ジパーフルォロプロピオニルパーォキ サイ ド、 ジ(ω—ヒ ドロパーフルォ口へキサノィル)パーオキサイ ド、 ジ(ω 一クロ口パーフルォ口へキサノィル)パーォキサイ ドなどである。
重合温度は、 特に限定されるものではないが、 工業的には 0~100°C でよい。 共重合体中のェチレンーェチレン連鎖生成による耐熱性の低下を 避けるためには、 一般に低温が好ましい。
重合圧力は、 通常 0〜50kg/cni2Gであってよく、 重合操作には 1〜2 0kg/cin2Gの比較的低圧が望ましく、 比較的低い圧力が、 安全上も好まし い。 重合圧力は、 用いる溶媒の種類、 量ならびに蒸気圧、 重合温度などの 他の重合条件に応じて適宜定められる。
本発明の含フッ素共重合体の製造に際しては、 分子量調整のため、 通常 の連鎖移動剤、 たとえば、 イソペンタン、 π—ペンタン、 n—へキサン、 シ クロへキサン、 メタノール、 エタノール、 四塩化炭素、 クロ口ホルム、 塩 化メチレン、 塩化メチルなどを用いることができる。
本発明の含フッ素共重合体フィルムの製造は、 公知の方法に従い、 例え ば押出成形法、 インフレーション成形法、 カレンダ一法等により行うこと が出来る。
フィルムの厚さは、 特に制限するものではなく、 いずれの膜厚でも使用 出来るが、 10〜500 m、 好ましくは 30〜300 /ζπι、 さらに好まし くは 50〜200 IDである。
次に実施例を示し、 本発明を具体的に説明する。
なお、 実施例で得た共重合体の物性値は、 次のようにして測定した。 ポリマー組成
ポリマーのモノマ一組成は19 F— NMRにより求める。
融点
パーキン一エルマ一 7型示差走査熱童計 (DS C) を用い、 10°CZ分 の速度で昇温したときの融解ピークを記録する。 そして、 融解ピークの極 大値に対応する温度を融点として採用する。
メノレトフローレ一 ト
高化式フローテスターを用い、 300°C、 5kg荷重下で、 直径 2 、 長 さ 8 のノズルから単位時間に流出する共重合体の重量 (gZI O分) を 測定する。
ヘイズ値 (曇度)
東洋精機製作所ヘイズメータ一を用いて測定する。
引裂強度
東洋精機製作所エレメンドルフ引き裂き試験機を用いて測定する。 実施例
内容積 4 Lのガラスライニングォートクレーブに、 脱酸素した水 1 Lを 入れ、 ォー卜クレーブ内部を真空にし、 パーフルォロシクロブタン 105 Ogおよびへキサフルォロプロピレン 15 Ogを入れて、 槽内温度を 35°C に保った。 次いで、 ォートクレーブに、 CH2=CF(CF2)3H8. Ogお よびシクロへキサン 4. Ogを仕込み、 撹拌下、 テトラフルォロエチレン/ エチレン混合ガス (モル比 83 27) を 12kgf.ノ cni2Gまで、 圧入し た。 ついで、 ジ一 n—プロピルパ一ォキシジカーボネート 4. Ogを仕込ん で重合を開始した。
重合の進行とともに圧力が低下するので、 テトラフルォロエチレン エ チレンノ〇1^2= ?(じ?2)3?1混合ガス (モル比 53.5/45.5/1. 5) を追加圧入して重合圧力を 12kgf./cm2Gに保ちながら、 重合を 4. 2時間行った。 重合終了後、 残モノマーと溶媒を回収し、 生成物の洗浄乾 燥を行い、 重合粉末 116gを得た。
組成:テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン: CH2=CF(CF2)3H: へキサフルォロプロピレン = 52.8 : 43.0: 1.6 : 2.6(モル比)。 融点: 250°C。
メルトフローレート : 9.0g/l 0分。
2 nun厚シートのヘイズ値: 43.6%。
実施例 2
実施例 1において、 CH2=CF(CF2)3Hの仕込量を 4.0gおよびシ クロへキサンの仕込量を 5. Ogとし、 追加するテトラフルォロエチレン/ ェチレン/〇112=〇 (じ?2)311混合ガスの組成を53.4/45.8/ 0.76 (モル比) とする以外は、 同様の操作を繰り返し、 3.5時間で、 重合粉末 112gを得た。 組成: テトラフルォロエチレン :エチレン : CH2= C F(C F2)3H: へキサフルォロプロピレン =53.0 : 43.4 : 0.8 : 2.8(モル比)。 融点: 256°C。
メルトフローレー ト : 9. lgZl 0分。
2 mm厚シ一卜のヘイズ値: 56.9%。
実施例 3
実施例 1において、 パーフルォロシクロブタンの量を 95 Ogとし、 へ キサフルォロプロピレンの量を 5 Ogとし、 CH2=CF(CF2)3Hの仕込 量を 2. Ogとし、 追加するテトラフルォロエチレンノエチレンノ CH 2 = CF(CF2)3H混合ガスの組成を 53.6/46.0/0.38 (モル比) とする以外は、 同様の操作を繰り返し、 3.6時間で、 重合粉末 12 lgを 得た。
組成:テトラフルォロエチレン :エチレン : CH2=CF(CF2)3H: へキサフルォロプロピレン =51.9 : 42.8 : 0.4 : 4.9(モル比)。 融点: 247°C。
メルトフローレ一 ト : 8.8g/l 0分。
2腿厚シー卜のヘイズ値: 53.9%。
実施例 4
実施例 3において、 パーフルォロシクロブタンの量を 635gとし、 へ キサフルォロプロピレンの量を 635gとし、 シクロへキサンの仕込量を 2. Ogとし、 追加するテトラフルォロエチレン/エチレン ZCH 2= CF(C F2)3H混合ガスの組成を 53.6ノ46.0 0.38 (モル比) とする以 外は、 同様の操作を繰り返し、 5.8時間で、 重合粉末 12 lgを得た。 組成:テ トラフルォロエチレン:エチレン: CH2==CF(CF2)3H: へ キサフルォロプロピレン =47.9 : 39.5 : 0.5 : 12.1 (モル比)。 融点: 194° (:。
メルトフローレート : 14.9gZl 0分。
2 mm厚シートのヘイズ値: 14.3%。
実施例 5
実施例 3において、 パーフルォロシクロブタンの量を 40 Ogとし、 へ キサフルォロプロピレンの量を 80 Ogとし、 シクロへキサンの仕込量を 1. Ogとし、 追加するテトラフルォロエチレン/エチレン ZCH2=CF (C F2)3H混合ガスの組成を 53.6/46.0 0.38 (モル比) とする以 外は、 同様の操作を繰り返し、 6.9時間で、 重合粉末 13 lgを得た。 組成:テトラフルォロェチレン:ェチレン:CH2=CF(CF2)3H :へ キサフルォロプロピレン =46.0: 37.6: 0.4 : 16.0 (モル比)。 融点: 180°C。
メルトフローレート : 8.7 gZl 0分。
2 厚シ一卜のヘイズ値: 14.7%。
実施例 6
実施例 1において、 パーフルォロシクロブタンの量を 80 Ogとし、 へ キサフルォロプロピレンの量を 400gとし、 CH2=CF(CF2)3Hの仕 込量を 1.0gとし、 シクロへキサンの仕込量を 3.0gとし、 追加するテト ラフルォロエチレン/エチレン ZCH 2= C F(CF2)3H混合ガスの組成 を 53.7/46.1Z0.19 (モル比) とする以外は、 同様の操作を繰 り返し、 4.0時間で、 重合粉末 118gを得た。
組成: テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン: CH2=C F(C F2)3H: へキサフルォロプロピレン =50.4 : 41.6 : 0.2 : 7.8(モル比)。 融点: 229 C。
メルトフローレート : 13.48 10分。 2随厚シー卜のヘイズ値: 47.6%。
実施例 7
実施例 6において、 パーフルォロシクロブタン、 シクロへキサンを仕込 まずに、 へキサフルォロプロピレンの量を 100 Ogとする以外は、 同様 の操作を繰り返し、 19時間で、 重合粉末 13 Ogを得た。
組成:テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン: CH2=CF(CF2)3H: へキサフルォロプロピレン =42. 0 : 28. 8 : 0.2 : 29. 0 (モ ル比) 。
: 丄 11し。
2fflin厚シー卜のヘイズ値: 10.0%。
比較例 1
実施例 1において、 CH2= C F(C F2)3Hおよびシクロへキサンの仕 込量をそれぞれ 8. Ogおよび 3.6gとし、 追加するテトラフルォロェチレ ンノェチレン/〇^!2=じ?(〇?2)3^1混合ガスの組成を52.2/46. 3/1.5 (モル比) とし、 へキサフルォロプロピレンを用いない以外は 同様の手順を繰り返して、 3.7時間で、 重合粉末 10 lgを得た。
組成: テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン: CH2=CF(CF2)3H = 54.2 : 44.2 : 1.6 (モル比) 。
融点: 263で。
メル卜フローレ一卜 : 11.5g/l 0分。
2 厚シー卜のヘイズ値: 80.1%。
実施例 1との比較から、 へキサフルォロプロピレン 1モル%当たりのへ ィズ値減少率は約 14%Z1モル%—へキサフルォロプロピレンとなった c 比較例 2〜 4
実施例 1において、 表 1のようにパーフルォロシクロブ夕ンとへキサフ ルォロプロピレンの仕込量を変え、 混合ガス組成をテトラフルォロェチレ ン /エチレン = 53. 8/46. 2モル%、 シクロへキサンの仕込量を 3. 0 gとする以外は同様の手順を繰り返して、 重合粉末を得た。
透明性はポリマー中のへキサフルォロプロピレン量に比例して向上し、 その割合は、 4. 8% 1モル%—へキサフルォロプロピレンであった。 【表 1】

実施例 8
内容積 1280 Lのガラスライニングォートクレーブに、 脱酸素した水 380 Lを入れ、 真空にし、 パーフルォロシクロブタン 24 Okgおよびへ キサフルォロプロピレン 37.4kgを入れて、 槽内温度を 35°Cに保った。 オートクレーブに、 CH2=CF(CF2)3H 1. 125 kgおよびシクロへキ サン 1. 65kgを仕込み、 撹拌下、 テトラフルォロエチレン Zエチレン混 合ガス (モル比 83/27) を 12kgf,/cni2Gまで、 圧入した。 ついで、 ジー n—プロピルバーオキシジカーボネート 66 Ogを仕込んで重合を開始 した。
重合の進行と共に圧力が低下するので、 テトラフルォロエチレン Zェチ レンズへキサフルォロプロピレン ZCH2= C F(C F2)3H混台ガス (モ ル比 51.6/44.7/3.0/0.71) を追加圧入して重合圧力を 12 kgf./cm2Gに保ちながら、 重合を 49時間行った。 重合終了後、 内容物を 回収し、 重合粉末 184 kgを得た。
組成:テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン:へキサフルォロプロピレン : CH2=CF(CF2)3H=53.1 : 42.9 : 3.1 : 0.9(モル比)。 融点: 256°C。
メルトフローレート : 39g/l 0分。
2 mm厚シートのヘイズ値: 56.9 %。
上記で得られた共重合体を 320°Cの樹脂温度で押し出し、 厚さ 60 πιのフィルムに成形した。 得られたフィルムの引裂強度を表 2に示す。
比較例 5
実施例8にぉぃて〇112=〇 (〇 2)3^1ぉょびシクロへキサンの仕込 量を 2.55 kgおよび 1.65 kgとし、 追加するテトラフルォロエチレンノ ェチレン/じ1^2=じ (じ 2)311混合ガスの組成を53.0/44.9/ 2.1 (モル比) にし、 へキサフルォロプロピレンを用いない以外は同様 の手順を繰り返して、 重合粉末 240kgを得た。
組成:テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン:. CH2=CF(CF2) 3H = 54.7 : 43.1 : 2.2 (モル比) 。
融点: 258°C。
メルトフローレート : 7.7g/l 0分。
2 厚シ一トのヘイズ値: 62.6%。
実施例 8と同様にして得られたフィルムの引裂強度を表 2に示す。 押出方向の引き裂き強度は、 実施例と同等であるものの、 異方性が大き く、 幅方向の引き裂き強度が小さい。 比較例 6
比較例 1においてシクロへキサンの仕込量を 1.83 kgとする以外は同 様の手順を繰り返して重合粉末 24 Okgを得た。
組成: テトラフルォロエチレン:エチレン: CH2= C F(C F2)3H = 53.5 : 44.3 : 2.2 (モル比) 。
融点: 260°C。
メルトフローレ一ト -- 22 /l 0分。
2ππη厚シー卜のヘイズ値: 64.5%。
実施例 8と同様にして得られたフィルムの引裂強度を表 2に示す。 比較例 1に比べてやや異方性は改善されるものの、 引き裂き強度が低下 した。

Claims

請求の範囲
1. エチレン、
テトラフルォロエチレン、
式: CH2=CFRf
(式中、 Rfは炭素数 2~10のフルォロアルキル基を表す。 ) で示されるフルォ口ビニル化合物、 および
へキサフルォロプロピレン
を含んでなり、 テトラフルォロエチレンとエチレンのモル比が 40: 60~ 90: 10であり、 該フルォロビニル化合物の含有量が全共重合体に対して 0.1〜10モル%であり、 へキサフルォロプロピレンの含有量が全共重合 体に対して 0.1〜30モル%である含フッ素共重合体。
2. へキサフルォロプロピレンの含有量が、 全共童合体に対して 0.1〜
20モル%である請求項 1に記載の含フッ素共重合体。
3. テトラフルォロエチレンとエチレンのモル比が、 50: 50〜70:
30であり、 該フルォロビニル化合物の含有量が、 全共重合体に対して 0. 1〜6モル%であり、 へキサフルォロプロピレンの含有量が、 全共重合体に 対して 0.1〜 20モル%である請求項 1に記載の含フッ素共重合体。
4. へキサフルォロプロピレンの含有量が、 全共重合体に対して 0.1~ 10モル%である請求項 1または 3に記載の含フッ素共重合体。
5. 該フルォロビニル化合物が、 式: CH2=CF(CF2)nH (式中、 nは 3〜5の整数を表す。 ) で示される化合物である請求項 1〜3のいずれかに 記載の含フッ素共重合体。
6. 請求項 1〜 5のいずれかに記載の含フッ素共重合体からなる耐候性保 護フィルム。
7. 請求項 1〜 5の L、ずれかに記載の含フッ素共重合体からなる農業ノ、ゥ ス用フィルム。
8. 請求項 1〜5のいずれかに記載の含フッ素共重合体からなる建材用フィ ルム。
