Definitions

  • bicycle carriers have become known in their design in that a swivel frame which receives the bicycle tires is arranged on the bicycle carrier and is connected to the on the Roof-attached beam is connected. This makes it possible to swivel the swivel frame laterally from the motor vehicle to load the bicycle carrier with a bicycle in order to bring it into a position close to the ground, in order then to place a bicycle on the associated swivel frame and to fasten it there. After the bicycle has been picked up, the swivel frame is then pivoted upward, so that the bicycle is positioned on the roof of the vehicle.
  • the disadvantage of the known bicycle carrier is that only a single bicycle has so far been able to be accommodated by the swivel frame, so that only a single vehicle could be transported on each side of the vehicle.
  • Another disadvantage is that the known bicycle carrier takes up a relatively large amount of space in the length of the vehicle, because the front and rear bearings of the pivoting struts are relatively far apart and the torsion bar spring mentioned is arranged in this space. Abstract
