.Design No. 4,335, (lated September 6, 1870.
DESIGN FOR CUPBOARD-LATCH.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part a! the sama.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM GORMAN, of New Britain, in the county of Harttord, in the State of Connecticut, have originated and designed a new Design for a Cupboard-Latch; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawing making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
Figure 1 represents a top elevation.
Figure 2, a side view.
The base-plate A, for both the bolt-oase and the keeper, may be rectangular in form, or may have pointed ends, as shown. The outer edge of the baseplate is raised by a bami, a, so as to give tbe effect of sunken panel to the lip ofthe pla-te, and the space occupied by such panel is relieved by rosettes b.
rIhe top edge ofthe bolt-oase and keeper is also surrounded by a band like that around tbe baseplate,
and the sunken space so formed between such band and the base-plate, is occupied with lotus-leaf ornament in relief upon a matted ground.
The top-plate of the bolt-ease and keeper shows, also, a sunken panel relieved by lotus-leaf scroll-work, as shown.
The button-head for the bolt is ornamented with a central rosette, and with leaves radiating therefrom.
The bolt-oase and the keeper, when placed together as in fig. 1, show the complete design for the latch. What l claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
r1he ornamental design fora cupboard-latch, substantially as herein described and shown in the drawing.
Witnesses M. J. WOODRUFF, H. E. RUSSELL, 2d.
