HERMAN JAWORSKI, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO SABGENT & 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR FLUSH-BOLT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,678, dated March 9, 1880.
Application filed December 31, 1879. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that l, HERMAN J AWORSKI, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Flush-Bolt and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view broken into three divisions.
This invention relates to a design for the plate of the class of bolts known to the trade as flush-boltsthat is to say, such as are set into a recess cut in the door, and so as to hide the mechanism of the bolt; and the design consists in the ornamentation of the plate, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
From the end etc the point I) constitutes the first or principal section of the bolt. Around the edge is a plain band forming a panel, and about midway of the length of this section is a cross-bar, o. On the face of the lower panel and around the knob-seat are two segment shaped bars, concentric with the knobs. These are both ornamented, as shown. Below the bar 0 is an ornamented quadrant. Between the segment, around the knob-seat and the said quadrant, are two vertical ornamented bars, each having a semicircular ornament projecting onto the face of the panel. Above the bar 0, and in the angle formed by it, is a quadrantshaped ornament. Above this is another ornamented transverse bar, d, with a quadrant-shaped ornament in the angle below. Above the bar (I is a circular or roseshaped ornament.
The ornamental portions are raised so as to appear in relief.
This section, from a to b, constitutes the essential feature of the design, as this section may be used alone for a short bolt.
A second section, extending from b to f, has a similar border to the first section, with a diagonal ornamented bar at its lower en d, and at the upper end a reverse diagonal bar, with the space between that and the angle filled with block-work. The next section, from the bar f to the bar g, has a series of points projecting from one edge inward, and on the opposite edge a branch, with a star-shaped boss near the upper end. The next section, from g to h, has also a similar border, and also the section from h to 15, each section ornamented, as shown.
These sections are used according as the first section is required to be lengthened.
I claim' 1. The design for aflush-bolt face-plate, ornamented as shown, from a to bthat is to say, with a band around the edge, forming a panel on the face, segment-shaped ornamented bars around the knobseat, ornamented transverse bars 0, ornamented quadrant below, ornamented vertical bars below said quadrant, a quadrant-shaped ornament above the bar 0, transverse bar cl, with quadrant-shaped ornament below and the rose-shaped ornament above, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
2. The design for flush-bolt face-plate, consisting of the ornamented section from a to I), combined with the section from I) to f, having a border similar to the first section, with diagonal ornaments at the lower end and a reversed diagonal ornament above it, and ornamentation on the face of the panel, as shown.
3. The design for flush-bolt, consisting of the ornamented section from a to f, combined with the ornamented section from f to g, having the border continued and the series of ornamented points at one edge and a floriated branch at the opposite edge, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
4. The design for flush-bolt, consisting of the sections a to 9, combined with the section 9 to h, the border continued, and the panel ornamented, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
5. The design for flush-bolt, consisting of the sections a to h, as shown, combined with the section h to ii, the border continued, and the face of the panel ornamented, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
