To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, llizmmxx J.-\\\'ORSI\'I, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for the ()rnamentation 01' Hardware; and I do herehydeclare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be at'ull, clear, and exact description ofthe to same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
I-igure 1, a face view of a hinge-plate, showing the ornamentation; Fig. 2, a transverse section of the same.
This invention relates to a design for the ornamentation of various articles ofhardware, such as hinges, lock -t'ronts, knobs, latchplates, and the various articles of hardware adapted for building purposes, and where a 20 uniformity of style is required, as for a part-ieular buildirg or for a particular room; and the design consists in the representation of a mosaic ground with the representation ot'singlc or individual flowers scattered upon the surface and as lying thereon, as shown in the accompanying illustrations.
In the illustrations I show a hinge plate,
which will he snllicit-nt for the purpose oldefining thedesign and itsadaptation to the various articles of hardware. The ground represcnts flat mosaic work, and on the snrl'acc of the mosaic ground is the representation of single or individual tlowers raised above the surface, as seen in Fig. '2, and appearing to lie thereon.
I do not claim as my design raised figures upon a ground, the essential feature of my dc sign being the representation of mosaic work that is, giving it the appearance as made up ofirregnlarly-shaped |)luck and the reprc= sentation of fioweis as lying tln-rmn-that is. projecting from the surface.
