Beit known that I, Tnonas VILLAGE, of South Norwalk, in the county of Fairfield and State ot' Connecticut, haveinvented a new Design for the Ornamentation of Builders7 Hardware; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of thc saine, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view of an eseutcheon-plate ernbodying the design.

This invention relates to a design for thc ornamentation of articles commonly called builders hardware, and such as are used for Window, door, and house trimmings generally; and the invention consists of an ornamentation for the surface of such articles, representing a tracery of sea-weed interspersed with shells.

In representing. the design I show an escutcheon-plate for door-trimmings, this being suiiicient to illustrate the design in its applica tion to builders7 hardware generally; Around the outer edge is a representation of a series of shells forming a border. On the surface within said border is the representation of a tracery of sea-weed interspersed With representation of shells as lying upon the surface, and as shown in the accompanying illustra tion.

It will be understood that the shape of the article will to some extent change the general arrangement of the representation of seaweed and shells; but the illustration which I have made will be sufficient to enable others skilled in the art to which this design relates to apply the design to the surface o't' various articles which go to make up the class to which this design particularly relates.

I claim- The herein-described design for the ornamentation of articles of builders hardware, consisting in a border representing a series of shells, the surface Within said border ornamented with a representation of a traeery of a seaweed interspersed with shells as lying upon the surface, substantially as shown in the accompanying illustration.
