DESIGN FOR A CARRIAGE-STEP.
To all whom it nwfy concern:
Beit known that I, CHARLES. A. BABcooK, a citizen of the United States, residingat But'- falo. in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carriage-Steps, of which the following is a specification.
This design relates to the ornamentation of the upper surface of a carriage-step by means of ornamental ribs; and it consists of the special features which will be hereinafter described and claimed, and which are repre sented in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a top plan view of the carriage-step, and Fig. 2 a. vertical section in line au 5v, Fig. 1.
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in both figures.
A represents the plate of the carriage-step, which is square or reetangnlarin form.
B represents a marginal band composed of four bars of Roman keys along the four sides of the plate A.
O represents an ornament on the central portion ofthe plate A, and provided with four arms, which radiate from a common center in the form of a cross and point toward the four sides of the plate.
D represents four ornaments in the spaces between the arms of the ornament O, and which point toward the corners of the plate A. All of these ornaments are outlined by raised ribs on the plate A.
e represents openings in the plate A.
I claim- The design for a carriage-step, consisting of a marginal band, B, of Roman keys, and a central ornament composed of radiating arms, substantially as shown and described.
