TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN;
Be it known that I, DIEtrZ MONNIN, of Paris, France, have invented an improved Clock-Case or Cabinet; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
My invention consists of a cast-metal clock-case, having its front, sides, top, base, and dial cast in one piece, as fully describedhereafter, the said case being cheap, durable, and admitting of being highly ornamented.
In order to enable others skilled in'the art to make my invention, I will now proceed to describe the manner of constructing the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved clock-case.
Figure 2, a sectional elevation on the line 1-2, fig. 1; and
Figure 3, a back elevation of the ease, the back plate being removed.
A is the cast-iron body of the case, which in the present instance is oblong, and is enlarged at the base, as represented in the drawing, the front, top, sides, and bottom being cast in one piece. Within the case, at each side of the same, are projections,a a, against which bears a detachable plate or back, 13, springs c c, secured to the back, bearing against the top and bottom of the case, and thereby retainingthe back in its place. Upon the front side of the case is adial, thennmbers on which are in relief, and are cast with and form a part of tho case, as are also such ornaments as the taste of the manufacturer may suggest.
The entire outer surface of the case may be enamelled or painted, the faces of the numbers of the dial being colored or gilded, if required to render them more distinct.
It will be evident that a clock-case cast in one piece, as described, is both cheap and durable, and admits of being highly ornamented.
The works may be attached to the interior of the ease by means of tnrn-buekles m, shown in figs. 2 and 3, or by other suitable fastening.
Without confining myself to any particular form of case, I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Iatent- A cast-metal clock-case, having its front, sides, base, top, and dial east in one piece, as set forth. In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specificationin the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
