DESIGN FOR A FIREPLACE-FRONT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,067, dated September 9, 1902.
Application filed July 29, 1902. Serial No. 117,586. Term of patent 7 years.

Beit known that I, THOMAS M. DUDGEON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Crafton, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Fireplace-Fronts, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which the invention is illustrated in front elevation.
The leading features of my design consist in a frame, the sides of which have plain outer and inner edges, the cross-piece at the top having a plain upper edge. The side pieces are ornamente'd at the bottoms by stands holding censers. The upper portions of the sides bear garlands of leaves, having about midway wreaths through which extend crossed nnlighted torches. The cross-piece is in the shape of a hood bearing scrollwork at its corners and at its center a wreath, from which extends to each corner a garland of leaves. The bottom edge of the hood is escalloped, the scallops being separated by representations of small shells. The center or summer front depicts a winter scene, showing a hill terminating at its lower edge in a frozen lake. The figures of three boys skating on the lake and one coasting down the hill are shown. A pine tree is seen in the background, and in the foreground a conventional representation of a tree in Winter garb.
