DESIGN FOR A MANTEL...
$PECIFIOATION forming part of Design No. 35,983, dated July- 29, 1902.
Application filed May 17, 1902. Serial No. 107,879. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern/.-
Be it known that we, WILLIAM II. WALKER and JAMES F. WVALKER, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Gate City, county of Jefferson, and State of Alabama, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Mantels, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 x representsthe mantelinfrontelevation. Fig.
2 is a transverse sectional and vertical elevation of the same.
The pilasters a have beveled outer edges, and the plinths I) have their upper portions molded.
c is the inantel -board, having the molded edging d.
e is the frieze, f the grounds, and g a raised panel having a continuous concave 2o beveled border 9. In the centerof this panel is a check-block 7b, placed in relief and hav ing intagliated lines *6. These lines 11 are drawn diagonally from side to side of the check-block, forming a square, in the center of which is mounted a rosette j.
70 .71: are the brackets, molded at the top and bottom and having continuous concave beveled borders upon which the shelves H are placed. These shelves support the ornainentally-turned columns m m, which have deep channels or grooves 72%, arranged above and below the channels 0 0 and between the same. Between the channels it and o the in termediate surface of the column is curved convexly in cross-section and beveled slightly 3 5 toward the deeper channels.
Near the tops of the columns or m a double bead p p is provided.
The edges of the frieze and grounds are molded, as shown in the drawings.
What we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The ornamental design for a mantel, as herein described and shown.
