DESIGN FOR A BURlAL-CASKET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,970, dated June 5, 1883. Application filed March 26, 1883. Term of patent 7 years.

To aZl whom it may concern:

Be it known that l. THOMAS M. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Vernon, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Burial-Gaskets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accoui panyingdrawing, forming part thereof.

This design has for its object to provide a novel burial-casket; and the features constitntingthedesignwill be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, which represents a perspective view of the casket.

In the drawing, the letter A designates the body of my casket, in each corner of which is formed a niche, B, which contains a column, a,io full relief. Thiscolumn rests upon ablock, b, with an oblique face and offset, 1). The block b rises above the bottom of the niche B. To the bottom edge of the body A is secured a molding, 0, which extends from one of the blocks b to the other, and which consists of two ob'lique members, 0 f, and a vertical memher, 9. The oblique member e overhangs the member f. On the upper part of the body A is secured a rectangular strip, g, which extends round the corners above the niches B. so as to impart to the entablature of said niches an ornamental appearance.

The top or cover O of my casket is constructed of side pieces, h, corner-pieces i, and a. top, The side pieces, it, have oblique faces k andoutwardly-projectingflangesh. Thefaces are ornamented by raised panels h. The corner-pieces rise above the side pieces, and they have oblique faces and flanges 1?, which project outward beyond the flanges li The top j rests upon the side pieces, and it rises above the upper edges of the corner-pieces.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for a burial-casket, consisting of the body A, having the niches B, the cornerbiooks b, having oblique faces and ofl'sets b the columns a, the molding O, composed of the oblique member faud overhanging member e, the'continuous strip y, and the cover 0, composed of the top j, oblique faces h, raised panels h flange b and corner-pieces i, having oblique faces and flanges '5 substantially as shown.
