DESIGN FOR A KNIFE FOR OPENING SEAMS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,798, dated June 7, 1898.
fApplication filed May 6, 1898- Serial No. 679,964. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, PATRICK J. MCSHANE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stapleton, in the borough of Richmond, county of Richmond, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Knife for Opening Seams, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof, and in which- Figure l is a side View of a knife for opening seams, showing my new design; and Fig. 2 is an edge View.
The leading or material feature of my design consists in a flat member to, having a V- shaped notch 19 in its outer end edge, one side edge extending from said notch being rounded, as at c, and the other side edge straight, as at d. The respective V- shaped end edge I) and the side edges 0 and d are beveled or inclined, as shown. The side edges of the member (a in rear of the curved edge e and the straight edge are shown with insets or recesses of curved contour, as at e e, from which recesses the edges extend rear- Wardly in a straight line, as at f. From the rear end of the member a extends a cylindrical enlarged portion 9.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
