UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM B. MITCHELL, OF DES MOINES, IOWA.
DESIGN FOR A CRUPPER -BREECHING.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No; 34,449, dated April 30, 1901.
Application filed July 12, 1900. Serial No. 23,427- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
' Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. MITCHELL, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Des Moines,in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented a new and original Design for a Orupper-Breeching, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to produce a new, original, and useful design fora manufacturea crupper-breeching; and my invention consists of the design hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which the View is a perspective of a crupper-breeohing, illustrating my design.
In the design as illustrated the numeral 10 designates a crupper, the main body portion of which is approximately circular in crosssection and is bent laterally on an arc and tapers from its center to and terminates in flattened end portions 10 10 The Width of the flattened end portionsis in the same plane or direction as the transverse line or diameter of the curved portion of the crupper. Flanges 11 continue rearwardly from the flattened end portions 10 10 approximately to the ends of the curve of the crupper and there merge into lateral wings 12 13, extending in opposite directions from the convex or outer face of the crupper. The wings 12 13 extend radially from the crupper in respect of the cross-section of the curved portion thereof and taper or contract in width from the surface of the crupper to their ends. The rearmost corners of the wings 12 13 connect integrally through the medium of a flange 14 at the apex of the crupper. The flanges 11 11, wings 12 13, and the flange 14 are in a uniform trend, and said wings are flat and of a thickness approximately the same as the flanges. It will be observed that the body portions of the crupper swell, bow, or arch in graceful curves equally above and below the flanges and Wings and that the entire crupper curves with the flattening taper into the end portions 10 10 I claim as my invention The design for a crupper-breeching, substantially as herein shown and described.
WVILLIAM B. MITCHELL.
