DESIGN FoR A PENCIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,128, dated September 24, 190 1.
Application filed August 13, 1901. Serial No. 71,966. Term of patent 7 years.
To (LZZ whom it may concern.-
, Be it known that I, WILLIAM RUDOLPH SOHUPP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lamb, in the county of Pettis, State of Missouri, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for a Pencil, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a side elevation of a pencil, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is atop plan View of a pencil, showing my new design.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a body portion 5, which is tapered longitudinally in both directions from its center, one end 01": the body portion being tapered to a point, while the other end is cut off in a plane at right angles to the axis of the body, so that the body has a major end and a minor end,
and all transverse sections of the body portion are circles. From the minor end of the body portion projects a cylindrical stem 6 in axial alinement with the body portion, While from the major end there projects a portion 7, having a width equal to the Width of the major end and having athickness less than the height of the major end. Encircling the major end is a band 8, the rear edge of which is scalloped, as is shown at 9.
Having described my invention, what is claimed is- The design for a pencil as herein shown and described.
